Quote:I'm guessing removing things from the NCsoft store was scheduled with NCsoft a while back.Okay, so it's been almost a week since we last heard anything. I was really expecting to hear something like Freedom's launch date today. I wonder why so much hurry to take the boosters off anyways. Couldn't they have waited for freedom? Are they just going to leave people unable to buy new content?

Quote:I'm giving 2 to 1 odds it ain't ever coming back. Supersidekicking killed it except for a few niche users. So the Producers are asking themselves: Is the time spent to re-code this worth pleasing a few users when there is little hope of monetizing it when it gets fixed?By the way any chance when you change the Level Pact code you could allow one to be formed at higher levels and with more people?
Remember, this appears to be an unforeseen issue. This means that fixing it will not get onto any programmer's to-do list for at least several months, if it even gets that high a priority considering the presumed general lack of large numbers of players begging for it to come back.
And even if large numbers hound the Producers for it... they might remember the Calvin Scott TF they brought back because of the hounding for it... and almost no one plays it. -
Hate to be a bummer, but...
Forum Games --->
And depending how much football draft shows up in the Community Digest, I may be leading the townsfolk on a march on the castle.

Translation:
1. VIP head start was originally scheduled to start today a long time ago. That's why Free Trials and the old Boosters on the NCSoft Store are no more. But showstoppers on the Beta server has pushed back the date to 'soon.'
2. There's some way a RMTer can exploit level pacts, and so, they've got to code a fix before letting it loose on freebie accounts. F2P will launch with Pacts disabled until they can fix it. -

Nevermind how many SciFi MMOs that make it second year: Is there more than 1 currently in existence?
-
No. What is currently on Beta has been that way since Open Beta started. And it's certainly an incomplete list. We're waiting for an update, which may be today... or not.

Quote:Yeah, if you pour water directly into the bowl (bucket of water from the tub, e.g.), it creates the flushing action.Oh. I never really thought about the water going out.
And, I live in North Carolina, which is not exactly a hurricane-free zone. So, I learned something today. Go me!
Though, as I had to remind my guest in the basement, you do not do that if you're below the sewer line and the power is also out. You need the pump to get the water up and into the sewer line. If there's no electricity and no water, you have to rely on gravity.
And I'm half way done drinking all the tub water. -
Or... they're NPC models. Different rig, thus, not portable to PC models. Same reason why NPC costume pieces aren't directly portable to PCs.
Since they're not directly portable, they would have to be constructed from scratch to make it available for Female Models. That puts them into the mix of all the other costume pieces that need to be made, which means it gets prioritized.
And for every customer who says female abs should be top priority there is a customer who says female jackets is a priority or fixing the missing magic capes is a priority or adding the missing accents to the Ascension Armor is a priority or adding Shields to Celestial Armor is a priority or steampunk boots to match steampunk armor is a priority etc.... -

Quote:Rejoin doesn't work if you were kicked at the trial's start. That's a known bug.Tried to use it to rejoin Lambda and no luck. Has 'Rejoin Event' worked for anyone since last patch? (Week of 8/29)
If you got disconnected after successfully entering the trial and then couldn't get back in, then that would be a new bug. -
No word yet, but I give it a 99% chance of happening.

Quote:Quite frankly, a number of different devs said this a number of different times so consistently, that I find it odd you remember it differently. If you remember a dev saying it was relatively easy, then *you* find that quote.I mean a source of the original quote. I don't mean to be a dick here and go "Pics or it didn't happen!" but I remember that post from War Witch and I don't remember it going like that. Do we have it recorded somewhere so I can refresh my memory? Because I honestly do recall her saying that the development team at the time intentionally didn't do almost anything in the zone specifically as a means of saving time and money so that they could get the other things done.
If a not doing a total revamp of the zone from scratch didn't save much effort, why didn't it happen? Wouldn't that mean it wouldn't have been much effort to do it? -
Quote:Updated under Health and Endurance. Thanks.

The market in Beta is as it was when Open Beta started, so, no updates there, but we're expecting one soon.
There's a handful of showstoppers in Beta as well as a huge list of ordinary bugs reported weeks ago which haven't been fixed yet.
I don't see it going Live till at least Sept 20. -

Quote:I'm assuming NCsoft games are now OK since the customer rep crowd won't shut up about Wildstar. Can somebody explain to me what games can be talked about here because we now have red names not only letting a thread live that is forbidden under current rules, but actually posting in it?

Seriously, Wildstar has been tweeted, facebooked, and now posted about here by rednames.
Wildstar is an NCsoft game. Paragon Studios and NCsoft worked very closely together at last ComiCon.
And the ban against talking about NCsoft games was pretty dumb to begin with since they show up on the NCsoft Launcher we have to use in order to play CoH.
I'm guessing that conversion between NC Coin and Paragon Points is coming soon. And that there will eventually be a NCsoft 'Gold Account' where you pay one sub per month for VIP status for all NCsoft games that will rain NC Coin/Paragon Points on you. -

Quote:Yes, true. And Paragon has been hacking away at the Cryptic code for years. But, what would be the benefit of recoding the very base of the environment engine to give a dev the freedom to easily revamp a zone?If so, their tools and/or processes are bad and need to be redone.
That would take a lot of resources and have the danger of introducing tons of new bugs. It would also have to account for integrating new assets (like UM textures) with old assets. All for being able to make a zone revamp take less time than re-doing it from scratch?
They'd be better off creating tools to make building new zones from scratch go more easily. This way new zones can be built easier and quicker and old zones can be rebuilt *from scratch* easier and quicker. -
Quote:The Producers are in charge. Design Developers form into strike teams to work on various projects. Each team has a lead who is able to speak with authority on the work of their group... but that doesn't make them the boss. Their group's work got input from the whole design teams and the green light and supervision of Production.I thought War Witch had taken the lead dev role? It almost seems Posi is back at the helm. No offence to Posi but I really didn't enjoy his City of system adds for previous years. Install something fun and new...enough with the systems and fluff. I would gladly buy a box expansion that offered 10 high quality TFs over Going Rogue.
So, if you want to talk to the person who decides whether there is a focus on new systems or more arcs or more zones... it's not one of the design developers. It is Second Measure and crew.
I guessing being able to form Leagues will make all the difference.Quote:Just like the Banners in the Halloween Event.
I miss doing them. They were fun and required coordination among teams, and they carried a real possibility of failure, but they had commensurate badge rewards to compensate. I hope more people are interested in doing them again when October rolls around.
The Devs are on record that the RCS --> RWZ was almost as much work as creating a new zone from scratch and repurposing the old zone didn't save them significant amount of time and work. Same with Faultline.Quote:They didn't do that with the Rikti War Zone that I could tell. Off the top of my head, only three things changed in that zone when it went from Crash Site to War Zone:
*The Crey's Folly gate was closed and associated guards removed.
*The hospital was boarded up and sealed, replaced with the one in the Vanguard base
*The Rikti Saucer was tilted to lie flatter on the ground so it could be stood on more easily.
And, OK, four: The old Peregrine Island teleporter exit was moved to the Vanguard base and replaced with theirs.
Revamping a zone is tantamount to recreating it from scratch. Atlas got that treatment because of its age (in both looks and content) and its importance in presenting a fresh face to expected freebie newbies. Galaxy City was likewise scratched because it was just another AP and contained copies of the aged content.
