  1. *whew*.... Well, good luck with that. Don't burn too much of the bridge, but take the time you need.
  2. Pie. I like pie. I think way more than 2% of us like pie.

    Ummm

    "If you have to ask"....
  5. Yeah the blood waterfall and pools in the Shard are really incredible.

Watching the sun come up over the Hollows is pretty cool.

I love the little grottos and hidden places in the little islands north of Talos. They're gorgeous and since it's reasonably low level it's easy to ignore the Circle and DE there, to have a picnic.

Its more than a couple bars lol. If it were two bars I wouldn't sweat it, Its two whole levels minus one bar

Right: get on a task force or two. Seriously, you can't go wrong with task forces at that level. 2 bars or 12, it's not gonna matter.
  7. Just ignore nether, I have been for years.

As far as that last couple bars... Grab a task force. You'll ding, it'll be over.
  8. When you level up past 41, you can choose from another set of powers. You really do need to concentrate on reading the screens and getting all the information you can from contacts including the trainer.

Definitely do the tutorial. And definitely *stay out of AE until you know how to play*... seriously.

Keep asking questions. Head to the paragonwiki, read up. Greet people in your server forum down below, see if there are proper teams and task forces you can join.

you don't suck! Your toon did!
  9. Schis...

I JUST now figured out what that avatar is. Well, at least, ... I'm seeing it correctly. >_>

    Go about your business.
  10. I dunno.

My first 50 was an emp/dark defender. I soloed most of the way, having to abandon her until the AV/EB code was put in so I didn't have to find a whole team to support my slow butt through the early 40s.

Right now, she's got a lot of Hammi-os, and a bunch of SOs.

And I have *no* idea how I ever played her. Seriously. Now, obviously things are different with patrol xp and less debt and temp powers, but still.

My current obsession is a villain that I just picked up again and have gained like 6 levels in 2 days on soloing, and ONLY because I put IO sets on him (because I won a costume contest and could afford to do so) is he even playable. He's an Ice/ Therm corruptor by the way.

In the first 16 levels of his life I think he died about twice *per mission*. I am not making that up. I struggled through a bunch of levels with him, earlier I'd teamed to blast past some of the lowest levels. But then soloing him in the teens was nigh impossible.

Put those IOs in there and he's died a total of ONCE and that was *after* completing a mayhem, when I was just farting around and knew it wouldn't matter. I've gone quickly and had so much fun with him I am actually *enjoying* playing him. That's unheard of - I'm a hero-type.

IOs do make that much difference in how a character survives and plays. Without those I had mostly DO's on him and they just... did... nothing.
  11. Hold down page-up. Mouselook, hit B to return to your original view. There are other ways, I'm sure people will come by with those momentarily
  12. I had a Rabid Wombat card. I used it. All my friends were like... O___o the hell is that?

    heheh.
  13. I'm not so fond of those massively long-legged ones. I like furry spiders. And small ones. I usually have the patience to move danglers from wherever they happen to be interrupting my work, to outside. But those long-legged ones build such huge webs, often directly across my porch exit... lol.

And Claws - I agree with the centipede thing. OMG I don't like those things. They're fascinating, but eeeeeew.
  14. But we ARE the bigger people!

    The big BULLIES!

I'm very glad to see that there is some amount of investigation going on here.
  15. There's a long, long thread about one in particular, "What my 6 year old has learned from COH" down in general.
  16. I would imagine that any actual ethical scientist wouldn't NEED to ask a board. They wouldn't have DONE it this way.

    He's not a scientist.
  17. Yeah there are 2 of them there, and you can see the palm / heel of the hand holding them up, they're not much longer than the palm of a hand. They're mighty large, and creepier than most though. eew.

And the spider eyes... are ... the most incredibly gorgeous things I've ever seen. So shiny, they're amazing!
  18. Actually it's been what, almost 30 years since the so-called "killer" bees were introduced, and ... I haven't heard of more than 1 or 2 deaths in that entire time, directly because of them. They're sturdier. I love bees, though I don't go out of my way to handle them or anything.

If you've never understood bees, Clan Apis is the very best comic book ever written about them. It's 5 issues and I cry reading at least 2 of them...
  19. I wonder how brave this idiot would be if he had done the same in WoW.

I have issues with a lot of stupid science these days, sample size being one of the bigger ones.

Obviously, this game has a reasonably stable 120k give or take population. That pop is split among 11 servers, (I'm not taking into account test or the eu servers), and from there, also split among hero and villain side. Further split into an even smaller group who play PVP, and even more narrow when you look at JUST the zone he would be in.

The chances that he had an actual, real-person "survey" of more than, say, 60 people, are very slim. To be fair I don't pvp on freedom, and I know that it DOES have a larger pvp pop than many servers, but generally it's going to be the SAME group of people going in time and time again.

If he wanted to make a GOOD sample, he would have done other pvp zones, across different times of day, as well as on all 11 available servers.

It still doesn't negate the fact that what he was looking for, and what he got, were not found in any scientific manner at all. He's a gasbag troll, obviously with one or two loyal pvp followers, or multiple accounts here which I would definitely not put past him, based purely on reading his descriptions of himself and his actions. I can read way past those lines, and I see a desperate person in need of therapy, really - and, in need of getting himself a real job away from teaching.

Don't give him the honor of putting a "dr" in front of his name. He's definitely no scientist. The disrespect he shows to his subjects, to the science of science itself, and the university where he "works" are all really horrible examples of why some people need to be on a much shorter leash - and why universities should block *all* game sites on *all* their computers, really...

Get some real work done. Can't do that when you're ganking people in a video game and making up stories about why you are a martyr for your 'cause' of scientific exploration.

  20. That's mean. Don't stress yourself out - and you should explain to your boss if you can, that your mental health and ability to perform your job are being hindered. You need time off. Better that they give you a day or so right now, instead of having you unable to work later.
  21. All you need to do is find a friend and know who you're playing with in the game. Build up a relationship in a global channel, and ask someone there to help you move influence and items. It's really that simple.
  22. No.

The powers in this game are entirely separate from the costume equipment in the game because we do not need to all look the same.

And, having been a comic book retailer for 13 years, there's exactly no truth to the supposition that there are "2 types".

What about the mutant who takes no damage from incoming things, instead, absorbing them?

What about the mentalist who doesn't need body armor because she always has a mental shield?

Only a small portion of the superheroes in any given universe are "super strong" - many are "super healthy" but that changes.

The thing that's always made this game FAR better than all others in terms of character creation is that the appearance of the character is *entirely apart* from their abilities. We do NOT need any costumery that affects game play.
  23. Hey congratulations! You make a cute couple, so ... when do we meet her?
  24. I also never knew that you didn't GET a contact that sent you there. You can just GO there once your level meets the requirement.

If they ever do straighten out the way contacts and running around in Hero side works, so you can remain in one zone for the duration of your story arc or at the very least don't have to take multiple trips back and forth everywhere, AND that they make "go visit x thing once" missions *optional* to give another option if you don't plan on using it, they really should put a link to the shard when you get a contact in PI.
