Quote:You think, "oh gosh the zombies are coming! I know, I'll be safe up on the War Wall!"good point...

I've never actually seen that but that does sound creepy. I think next Halloween, when I'm not so keen on getting the rare zombie invasion and we're chok-a-blok with the event, I may just fly around a bit to see that...
AND THEY CRAWL THROUGH THE WALL'S LEDGE.
Seriously, best event ever.

As a 60 month vet you get access to actual travel powers at level 6 when the pools open. No OTHER pool powers that way, but the 4 travels.
And there are a lot of us, actually...
But yeah you can still get a reasonable ability to get around at level 5 or 6 doing mayhem/safeguards, and if you act appropriately polite and sensible about it you can just get on a supergroup with a teleporter setup.Travel is not an issue, really. -
Sidekick, and then SOLO some. It's not that hard. Make your OWN teams. Dont' just stand there broadcasting. Find the right level area, open your "find team" tab and start sending tells politely. there are teams.
-
I know, sorry. It's just I usually play only with my brother and some other RL friends but they're all higher level than me so I'm having to play catch up and it's really frustrating.[/quote
Sidekicking exists since early on in the game. use it.
Quote:Looks like a good plan of keeping you playing the game, to me. besides, WHY do you "need" to rocket through the levels? Before I could get to lvl 20-30 in 2-3 days. Now in the same amount of play time it's more like...
Day 1: lvl 10
Day 2: lvl 12
Day 3: lvl 14
Day 4: lvl 16
Why do you need to go faster on the side of the game where the stories are all uniformly better and more fun to go through?Quote:Of course, it may just be like that on villain side which I am unfamiliar with because I've only really ever played heroes. If I was playing on hero side again it'd probably be a lot faster.
Then broadcast is your least useful tool like someone else said. If you're just here to piss and moan about it that's nice, but... you ask in your thread title if the game got slower. No, it didn't.Quote:I got on for an hour last night and broadcasted in Port Oakes and didn't get anything, and was surprised to find I was really the only person looking for a team at all.
We've had several changes to Xp curve, reduced debt, the addition of the AE, AND patrol xp. All those things make leveling easier. But again: if you're trying to play the game, don't try and speed through it. At least enjoy the first time around if you're not playing villain side much. I've finally started enjoying my redside ride, and note my join date. Villains stuff is way better written, and they would like to keep you playing / paying as long as possible. Thus... Why speed? -

Quote:... I have no idea where you're seeing this happening, because it certainly isn't in THIS game.Well, mainly this was posted to warn the developers not to listen to the small but vocal minority that wants to nerf the AE and force more super grouping into the game.
There have been plenty of whiners here about exactly that. The fact that they're outnumbered often 10-15 to one by people who can list off many things they're not doing or doing wrong, means that no one really takes them seriously already.Quote:Now would be the worst possible time to cave to the people whining about not being able to find PUs anymore.
Again: THIS game?!Quote:I also feel that many new players have been lost to this game because it does start out pretty difficult for a new player.
If you redefine "tedious" as "lots of fun dinging every couple minutes" sure. ... If you didn't use sprint while fighting, you wouldn't run out of endurance. Problem solved. next!Quote:Leveling to 14 is the most tedious part of the game, constantly running out of endurance and having to street travel with sprint.
I do. You must not be playing something you *enjoy*.Quote:You really do not feel like a super heroe at this point.
But to a new player they neither know nor care whether their choices are "wrong". Plus, doesn't matter: you screwed up at level 6! oh noes! ... START OVER. DING, done! back to 6 in less than an hour. As for stamina: don't need it. Not everyone "needs" it. If you do, you probably will want to ask around for help on your builds.Quote:A few wrong choices in powers and now the new player is looking at what seems forever to get his travel power and stamina. No respec until 24.
I'm a 60 month vet, and I start the game at level 1 just like someone who's picked it up off a shelf. Why is it meaningless?Quote:For veteran players this is all meaningless. But I do feel it's the first 20 levels or so that should be made even easier with architypes like brute and scrapper pretty much hand held in the direction of stamina and a travel power each level.
** Yes, I have several vet reward powers that I love to use at early levels - and whenever a newcomer sees me using them, they ask how I got it, and then they're hyped because *they can eventually get one too*.
Again: if you NEED stamina, you're not playing well.
... Champions Online hasn't even exited beta yet and has a long way to go before people that are IN it think it's worth having live. How about let them kill their own game and play experience, they'll find out about this game soon enough. Or, of course, *come back to it* like most of them doubtless will.Quote:Let people coming out of CO start soloing around quickly with actual super powers and not constanty resting for endurance.
Again: let the other game sink or float on its own merits.Quote:This would tend to retain many more of them.
Now THIS I agree with. Enough with the trainings.Quote:Maybe get rid of training enhancements and just replace em with DOs then drop SOs to 18.
The raw numbers are right there in front of you when you place enhancements, or hadn't you noticed that? been there a while in fact. Plus, it IS explained in the game. You just have to actually think to LOOK for that and there it is.Quote:And explain to new players about the 3 enhancement cap. Something that major should be documented in game. Perhaps even a easy to obtain and solo respec quest at level 12, and bumping stamina over health in the fitness pool.
For YOU.Quote:I think a problem with this game is it seems really tedious for the first 20 levels
My builds kick *** right off the character generator. I don't know what you're doing to gimp yourself in those first bunch of levels, but I use them to learn how I'm going to slot and make future improvements with the next bunch of powers I get. The powers are all listed right there in your power tab, you know. You can always *look at those* before assigning your next slot or power...Quote:and then, if you made your build right, it totally kicks ***.
Their loss, but I strongly suspect that you had a hand in complaining about those early levels to them and may have tainted their own experiences... Everything you've said so far, tells me you hate playing this game until you've got an "I Win" button. It's got nothing to do with teaming and nothing to do with CO, it's all about you don't seem to know how to slot, use your endurance enhancements wisely, and try rushing up to the middle of the game before you're really happy with what you've made.Quote:I personally have a few friends who have tried this game and did not continue past the first 20 levels.
They already ARE tremendously easy. With the leveling curve in the mid and later levels now, with reduced debt, with PATROL XP especially... You can breathe hard on the keyboard and level. Whatever it is you're doing, I don't think you've got it down very well. You might consider heading up into the archetype sections and asking for some build assistance.Quote:It would not effect overall balance in any way to simply make the lower and tedious levels into easy mode.
Just some thoughts... -
While I do see the similarities, they ARE also both trying to get across the "evilbadnastyfascists" of their respective universes. Plus, the original 2004 logo for COH's guys is very different and much closer to the earthly nazi sign than the newer Council one.
>_> oh how I wish someone'd make a Gmod/AE combination... And we need crowbars in this game. -
You can select between the different sword models in ice and fire I believe, it's a start.
Patience grasshopper. They know. -
It's just you. I think they're behind her body by a little.
She would make an interesting foil / enemy / friend? to my Winter's True Spirit who is an ice/kin spirit and summoned/reawakened when the Winter Lords attempted to take over. -
-
Yea it's definitely still there. Sometimes Imageshack and Photobucket have issues. Also, sometimes photobucket and imageshack are forbidden on 'company' type computer networks...
-
Quote:From the OP's first statement:Doesn't Guild Wars allow you to re-do your powers/stats whenever you're in a town?
Of course why this turned into an argument of precedent I'm not quite sure.
They're using a game that hasn't yet even come out of beta, for comparison to something that we already have plenty of and better forms.Quote:It'll take people a whole five seconds to figure out where this idea comes from, but frankly I don't care. -
I barely even know how to FIND the palace, lol. If folks are on teams, there could be an overseer (lol shards) to keep watch on their powers in the team window?
-
YES. This would be good, I know that some folks have to change their settings if they want to play in, say Grandville, and that'd make a great QOL for them. Even if it still had to take the logout time, restarting by itself would be perfect.
-
-
Well, it's not a qol if it involves lots and lots of programming - which this would - but the idea's been brought up time and time again. It'd be fun but really a single-person sg base is *not* hard to make, and you can rp the rest.
Heck the other day I was playing with a guy on a trial (though he'd played before, and his bro deleted the account so no vet rewards for HIM) and we went into the Hollows. I was on my first 50, and it was hilarious becuase he was finishing up Flux's arc - and in character, ever since the Hollows opened, Retail Retali8r (my 50) has lived up in the 3rd floor apartment over where Flux *used* to stand. They moved him, she was disappointed. I flew around the windows a while, it was nostalgia
-
But just because you've see it in another game (I don't see which game? please do define which one?) doesn't mean that the engine for this game can handle it - or that it's any kind of reason to do so. Go up and read War Witch's explanation again. It's not an awesome idea because it adds nothing, and done improperly if it WERE to change anything and not be only a potentially client-sided event, it WOULD cause difficulty on a lot of lower end systems and with people who have slower connections.
"A lot of people who complain about lag" you say - yes, yes indeed.
And they too pay their 15 bucks a month to be able to play. So, if it adds or changes nothing, and it would take up lots of dev time to implement: it's not a good idea at all. -
So I think we have a "none" on that 'precident for allowing full playbox respec before trying it on live character'?
-
-
Quote:This. It's been said several times as well, on my video thread as well as other places: they don't want pee-ice or blood-ice. It's just something that would be distasteful in so many ways, they decided against allowing it.For powers, I believe it's because some powers just look flat out terribad with some colors
Perhaps at some later time we'll get a variety of other options for each: crystals or ice or blobs of snow, etc. -
Quote:yeah i agree with you, some rain/thunderstorm and wind blowing leaves would be nice.. and i don't think there would be lag they added snow for winter games and its fine.
No, they never added snow in the air. For the duration of the winter event the first year it was run (notice that it wasn't run this way again) they replaced the zone bg's basically, they didn't ADD anything. And yes, it would lag. -
>_> I've never heard of anyone with this problem. Maybe you should be more specific and ask around in the tech area about it. I've done it, never had a big problem with lag. Everyone's rig and connection are different, running different background programs and the like. So... your issue is not universal, and might be solved some other way than possibly making changes that might MAKE any bugs or problems universal...

There was a time when the stores images were overwritten by the El Super Mexicano restaurants. The interiors were the same, but they didn't have the sign, it was the food place sign instead. Thus, gags about buying certain enhancements at a fast food place... badump bump?
