  1. I think many people in this thread have the wrong end of the stick sadly.

What's with all the badgers claiming they're "only in the zone for PVE content"?

There is no PVE content in Recluse's Victory.

    It's all PVPVE content.

This means that if you want any of the badges/powers, you have to interact with the environment and other players as enemies.

Trust me. As an avid PVPer, I hate the fact there is PVE content there. (Mus, Longbow, Heavies, turrets, etc.) But I realise the zone is PVPVE so I have to adapt.

Complaining about PVP taking place in a PVPVE zone is as crazy as complaining about PVE taking place in a PVPVE zone.

Longbow/Arachnos aren't going to stop because you ask them nicely. Neither should any player.

I still need several PvP badges that include Heavies and Pillboxes.

Oh gee what can I ever do to protect myself from the ebil PvPers in a PvP Zone? Easy. I go when I know the zone will be slow. If I am attacked, I don't cry like a lil kid who got his milk spilled over his mashed potatoes in the kindergarten cafeteria. I simply attempt to fight them off or I make it so boring to attack me that they lose interest. I'm well known enough that most people are bored with trying to PvP me and usually just leave me alone.

Learn to be smart about badging if you want badges. Dodge, avoid, scramble and use defensive tactics. Grab a heavy, let it die, hide till it respawns. Pillboxes? Grab a team of friends like in the original post and instead of all lining up to give away your PvP Zone Milk Money, gang up as the team you are and beat the snot out of the Ebil PvP'er.

The more you bleed your emotional heart into the PvP waters, the more of a chum you'll be for the sharks. However, an easier way to get badges is to take the offensive.

[Broadcast] Shadow Ravenwolf: Heyas and Boogedy Boogedy!! Working on pillboxes and heavy badges. Feel free to team up and help, PST or invite me. If you wanna tag me for quick rep, help me tag badges and I'll raise your rep.

That line above usually results in people leaving me alone. However, it's resulted in badge teams several times and we even had cross faction cooperation to spawn AVs for those badges. It has also resulted in many people getting what everyone wants out of the deal, be it Rep, Recipes, Badges, or a new carton of chocolate milk and some fresh mashed taters.

Take it for what you want. I'm done here.
Best post in the thread. Really great advice. You don't just expect people to act a certain way for you - that would be called entitlement. You offer something in return.

Quoted it so more people can read it.
  2. I'm definitely planning on making an AR/something for when Going Rogue hits!

That said, I'm not sure I understand the name "Praetorian Resistance Alliance". What republic would the resistance be fighting to reclaim/establish? Personally I think "Praetorian Resistance Alliance" sounds much better.

I didn't ask you for your own opinionated boring conjecture. I asked you for a dev quote backing up when you said...

Are you able to provide a quote from any developer to back this up?

If not then kindly shut up.

As far as a quote well the intial results of I13 speak for themselves. Test league go boom!? There is really only one Dev quote needed for my simple point. It is the one in my previous post that stated the purpose of I13... You must be honest and ask yourself if that purpose really fit the purpose of high end serious arena I pwnt datazz PvP boi mentality! Nah. It's was and sadly still basically remains a purpose and practice of seeking the absoulte best sets/sets to win matches. Getting the options to revert back to something at least similar to I12 didn't help the matter... but I was happy to see some of the QQ'ing stop.

Btw did you here about the Incarnate system coming soon? You know I'm sure hope they thought to plan ahead and make needed changes in PvP before dropping this abilty to make players even stronger on us! I'm almost certain ths plan would likely invlove this preparation to almost look like a nerf... kinda like ED before IOs and such.

With all the great advice and suoerior common knowledge here on the boards though, I'm sure the silly devs could never think of doing something like this... cause you know the guys here PvP more than they do and stuff.
Oh look you didn't give me a dev quote.

  10. I signed up.

First thread I clicked on was one where members were posting pictures of their penises.

    I logged out.

    Not my cup of tea.

Dahje's are natives of Virtue. We sure do know how to breed them!
  13. We see now the wild Dahje launching into a frenzied attack against the Supermax. Like most Darhjinians, this wild Dahje's primary source of offense is oral. The Dahje hopes to confuse his prey by making a string of strange animalistic noises vaguely similar to human speech. It is thought that the wild Dahje does this to incapacitate his prey. The noises often attract the neighboring Predatorics, who mistake the Dahje oral offense for a mating call.
  14. A wild Supermax appears. Lured into the nest of the Dahje. Little does the Supermax know of the trapping potential of the Dahje during foreplay.
  15. See how angry the wild Dahje gets when his habitat is threatened.
  16. You guys care too much about what Dahje thinks. He's just random bad player #89365 who types too much and doesn't listen to advice.

If you actually engage him in discussion it lets him think he's your peer. He's not. He's bad. The best thing to do is correct him and then move on. I'm sure anyone new to PVP with even the slightest modicum of sense will take everyone else's advice over his.

You can't stop "farming" and "powerleveling" but you can theoretically ensure that the only skills that generate enhanced rewards are efficiency-related ones, not corner-case advantage-leveraging ones. You can make sure the players can exercise tactical options, and not engineer skewed circumstances.

You can try to improve both the speed and the precision of game rebalancing, and there's no question there's tons of room for improvement there. But you don't, as someone else put it, "give up." Giving up on game balancing is giving up on game design, period.
The Developers cannot stop powerlevelling/exploiting =/= It is impossible to stop powerlevelling/exploiting.
  18. Keeping this "fix", despite massive player outcry, means that stopping PLing/RMT is more important to the developers than happy architects/players.

The irony? Fearghas/Dr. Aeon was the dev who tells us this. He was hired by the dev team because of his missions in the AE.

The Developers will never be able to stop farming and powerleveling. The farmers have already moved on to something else. This "fix" has done nothing but infuriate mission architects. The fact that the development team is happy to inconvenience the majority of players to combat a very small minority is disgusting.

I can't remember who asked for it (I went back through the thread but couldn't find your post) But the e-mail for NCSoft NA's Head of public relations can be found at the bottom of this press release:

  19. The formula for diminishing returns in PvP is:

    FinalValue = OriginalValue * (1 - ATAN(A * OriginalValue) * 2/pi * B)

    As per this thread

However, having said that, these sorts of "see how easy it is" posts are pretty worthless. That would address the issue in the same sense as trying to fix a hole in the geometry by putting a sign in the game pointing at the spot that says "hole in the geometry."

For a suggestion that is free, you're charging too much.
If the developers modus operandi is a short-term fix to a problem they lack the time/resources to analyse and improve; then what I suggested would be ideal. Surely removing a few select powers from allies is a better short-term fix than nerfing XP accross the board?

I appreciate the bad analogy and witticism. Although I have no idea why you're being so hostile. The patch obviously needs to be rolled back, but the problem of "jellybean" farms also needs handling by the developers.

  22. The Devs cannot stop farming or powerlevelling. They will never be able to. Fact.

Here's a better short-term fix. You can have this one for free:

Disallow the Force Field & Sonic Bubble from allies.

After you've done that put "limiting number of allies that follow the player" on the rainy day schedule. This should be the ultimate long term fix for the "exploits" and AI issues encountered with 15+ allies following the player around the map.

A blanket reduction of XP just indicates paranoia about powerlevelling and a lack of foresight to the health of the game. Since when was Bill Roper working on City of Heroes?
