The meetings were held before every issue was released and were roleplayed as an emergency meeting of the greatest heroes in the city coming together to stop a new threat to Paragon. (The new threat in question being whatever the new issue was providing in terms of content.) It was basically our attempt at big epic crossovers you see in comic books.
I remember one time we did it without even a new issue being released. We pretended there was a prison breakout in Brickstown. A lot of people were still low level so they hadn't seen the Zigg yet. We took the guys who'd shown up to the alliance meeting and organised a massive strike force attack against the prisoner spawns just outside the zigg walls, with myself providing information "from the warden" about how we were doing. It was awesome. I remember flying around and seeing all these characters I knew working together to stop an imaginary breakout.
I miss that stuff. There's still a lot of RP on virtue. But not so much server-wide stuff anymore.
With COH going F2P we'll likely be getting a lot of the old school RP crowd coming back, not to mention even more new RPers. I'm positive we can create something like this again.

I think it'd be more appropriate to call it a "fluff" thread.

The biggest reason people I know have stopped with the Virtue forums is due to being trolled, being told they are stupid for their opinions, and the ammount of dumb drama that tends to go on the Virtue forums.
As far as loosing other threads, i havent had a single issue with that and any announcement by The Cape, an SG or anything else. You want a reason there is so many Rookery threads? Cause people stopped posting long before the rookery due to treatment by the jerks that can be around here.
I honestly don't think you realise the impact they have.

Haha exactly. Which is all the more reason to be careful about how you go about it. Like it or not you affect how this server communicates with itself. Look at this right now. Even in a thread about the new issue that was JUST RELEASED TODAY...here we are talking about the Rookery. That's the foothold the Rookery has on virtue. Sure, there were some good PVPers waybackinnaday. Then some of them left. Maybe all of them left. Who cares? They didn't PVP with today's builds and rules. They got all sad and left because i13 happened and what they liked to do suddenly didn't work anymore. Wah. Now people have incarnate powers and builds filled with very rare recipes that exemp down. More wah. Adapt or fail or go away.
I know that new PVPers have a lot to live up to, given the skill of those that came before them. I mean, I hear that those old PVPers had callers who could find a target and tell their teammates who that target was over Vent, then countdown for a teamwide damage spike. That's some impressive skill right there. I don't know if anyone could ever live up to that standard. Then someone told me that they hit 1-2-3-4 for their attack chain? Man, I know I couldn't go toe-to-toe with that. It takes mad skill to hit all four of those buttons, one after the other. Will we ever see that level of talent again? Not a chance, but we can hope, right?
As for the rest of your post: Just because PVP is easy for US, doesn't mean it would also be easy for YOU.
