I was very proud of the formatting of the clues in my latest arc and it got me thinking about this arc since I never saw the need for clues in it. I was planning to play through the arc anyways since I needed screenshots for Bubba's December Player's Choice event. This arc was at 99.14% full so there was not a ton of room, but room enough for a clue or two. Then it hit me and I made the following changes:
- Renamed Office Worker to Supervisor's Secretary
- Added a clue drop when she is rescued named "Letter of Termination"
- Changed the accept text from the standard accept to "Um...OK...if you say so."
Add the memo (pictured below) nicely ties up the loose end of what made the lawyer snap in the first place.
WN -
Nice full team today. We ran:
Deadfellas by Sand Sultan Arc ID: 322373
Two Fifths of a Chance by @Aristana Arc ID: 343537
Unfortunately, we were unable to complete Two Fifths due to a bug.
WN -
PW reviewed this arc and as a result I made some changes and corrections to it.
Updates
- All Missions: Changed the color of the mission name to match the clues given in each mission.
- Several Missions: Corrected minor typos
- M1: Changed “I just got wind from a friend on the force…” to “I just received an alarm alert and it seems that the vultures are already swooping in”. This little word change eliminates any question of the break-in being known before you arrive.
- M1: Due to system weirdness the defeat boss goal completes automatically once you enter the mission. I have bugged this issue, though most people may not even notice it in my mission, I have had it happen in to me while playing other people's missions where it really mattered.
- M1: Changed Defeat Anderson to Stop Burglars
- M1: Change Anderson to a Captain
- M2: Change Hecker to a Commandant
- M5: Werwolves were giving no exp due to a misclick on my part. Fixed it by resetting to Standard/Standard.
- M5: Added a patrol of standard 5th Column mobs. Their dialog helps make it clear that the clones are made from the altered DNA of Sherman.
- M5: Changed guards of the Mainframe and Mind Probe destructible objects to be standard 5th Column.
I had thought more than once about adding some standard 5th column to the last mission and PW's comments pushed me to finally do it.

Hello Justice!
The Carnival is coming to town on Dec. 19th and it is bringing some great cash prizes! Here are the basic details:
When: Saturday Dec. 19th at 8:00pm EST (5:00pm PST)
Where: AE building in the RWZ on Justice
Events: Solo and Doubles
Prizes: 1st 100 million, 2nd 50 million, 3rd 25 million awarded in both contests totaling 500 million in prizes!
Who can play?: This is open to both heroes and villains though the prizes will have to be awarded to a hero side character.
What is Whack a Mole?: Whack a mole is a very clever MA arc written by @Bubbawheat (Arc ID 27110) that turns the MA system into a timed carnival type game.
What do I need to do to join?: Show up at the event with any mission in your mission list (this is required to verify your difficulty settings). Your difficulty should be set to the following:
Level at which you Fight = +2
Number of heroes/villains to which I am equivalent = 1
I want to fight bosses even when solo = Yes
I would like to fight AV....: Does not matter
Winner will be first to SUCCESSFULLY complete the arc.
For the Doubles event the above setting will be the same except:
Level at which you Fight = +4
For the doubles event you can bring your own partner or meet up with one there.
To confirm a win a special arc souvenir that will only be available during the event will contain a code phase.
Any questions, just ask here. Hope to see many of you there!

It is funny you mention the silent alarm since I add that this morning (great minds
)
I also added a patrol to the last mission with dialog to make it clear about the source of the clones.
I made a few other changes which I will be posting to my thread as soon as I test them all out and am happy with them.
WN -
Due to a conflict with PumBumbler's event I am going to push this back to Saturday the 19th.

Thanks for the review. I was going to do a blow by blow, but remembered that the way you review is to write things as you go that stand out, but you don't go back and revisit them at the end. This leads to a lot of " Why would X happen?" which is clearly explained in the next briefing section or clue. So instead let me just comment on the Overal section.
Quote:Glad you enjoyed all that stuff. BTW, Firecracker is loosely based on an Uncle of mine and a rant he went on about "kids toys today" and how in his day a broomstick and a ball made from rubber bands taken from neighborhood newspapers was all they needed.Overall
I liked the reveal of the secret of the Paragon Society and Sherman/Panzer's back story. I liked how Firecracker Kid was characterized; both the irony of being an octogenarian "Kid" and how crotchety he started out, and then how he warmed up to the player as the arc progressed. His disdain for Faceyspace and other modern artifacts was very fun, too.
Quote:Some of the plotting felt a bit awkward to me; Firecracker Kid gets a tip from the police that his base is being robbed, but instead of the police dealing with it, the Kid dealing with it, or the New Paragon Society dealing with it, he summons a random hero to go check it out?
Quote:Kid also drops a lot of hints about this deep dark secret long before actually revealing it; if it were really a secret, wouldn't he not mention it until he had to? Also he mentioned early on that he needed to pass this secret on to the next generation; considering the nature of the secret (Sherman's secret origin), wouldn't it be better for everyone if it were forgotten?
Quote:The 5th Column plot to clone Sherman to make super soldiers made some sense, but they seem to lose direction after you rescue Sherman in mission 4.
In mission 5 it seems like they've dropped the idea of cloning Sherman and instead are churning out clones of Werwolves, Hunters and Goot Maters, but it's not clear why; all of these custom mobs, while neat, are not really super soldiers (none are even close to as dangerous as Panzer was) and so I don't know what they are accomplishing.
Quote:Currently I feel like mission 4 is the strongest of the arc, with Blitzkrieg's evil plan, the mind control device, and saving Sherman. I might suggest either making mission 4 the finale (cutting mission 5 and moving some of the cool stuff in there into a previous mission) or else adding more material to mission 5: at the very least, a new mad plan to replace the "Clone Sherman" plan, maybe some supporting clues/dialog to explain why they are churning out Hunters and Goot Maters instead of super soldiers, and some flavor stuff. I think generally adding more details to the missions would help each mission be more fun; there's a certain sameness to fighting 5th Column and defeating their boss in each mission (though Sherman's plotline does help mix things up some).
Quote:Here's a random crazy idea (you can use it or completely disregard it): in the final mission, you could put a refrigerator glowy containing Hitler's Brain-in-a-Jar. There would be a recolored Baby-New-Year hostage as "Baby Hitler" or "Hitler Youth" being read Mein Kampf as a bedtime story by a Goot Mater. Then when you win the mission, maybe Sherman could adopt the Aryan baby and raise him; I think that would have a certain symmetric elegance.
Again thanks for the review, you did find some stuff I will fix and gave some suggestions for me to think over.

Custom Group : The Wannabes
Trademark Infringement, Arc ID: 2220
Description: We all know villains are not a very creative lot. Take over the world; pull the moon out of orbit....yada, yada, yada. Some heroes are no better. It's no big surprise that the Paragon City trademark lawyers are kept very busy. I think you know the type the lawyers are concerned with; you see them running around Paragon after every new superhero movie release. We have all seen a Spider Guy, Wonder Girl or just a bunch of mostly naked blue men suddenly appearing around Atlas. Well, now they have a group they can call their own introducing The Wannabes!
Keywords: Fun, Comedy
Edit - I just wanted to mention that I did not want to give away names or origins for these guys since much of the humor comes from it. -
Name: The Golden Age Secret of the Paragon Society
Arc ID: 344596
Creator Global Name: @Wrong Number
Synopsis - Every citizen of Paragon City has heard of the adventures of the Paragon Society, a hero group that was active from the 1930's through the 1970's. The last surviving member of this group has asked for your help investigating a secret involving the 5th Column that dates back to World War 2.
Difficulty Level: Medium
Number of EB/AVS 2
Level Range 25-54
Story Type Drama
Villain Groups 5th Column, Custom 5th Column
Mission Count: 5
Estimated Time to Play: About an hour -
While working with The Firecracker Kid on this arc he was nice enough to show me many pictures from the Paragon Society's hay day. Here is one of my favorites:
Red White Boom and The Firecracker Kid circa 1942
I have asked him to dig out some pictures of the other Paragon Society members so hopefully more to come.

Quote:Played through this just now, it's pretty good.
A couple of typos found: "discrete" instead of "discreet" (first one is a math term, the other means prudent); "alright" instead of "all right." Although people use alright quite a bit, it's technically incorrect. On the bulletin board in the 4th mission, one of the heroes mentioned is "Stars and Strips" -- based on the other names, I suspect this should be "Stripes." (Unless of course it's a heroine who started as a "hotel girl" in Pearl Harbor.) Sherman's "lost" message says, "Your are" instead of "You are."
I like Sherman's punny name, as well as the twist. I really liked the design and names of the custom group in the final mission. Nice use of the 5th Column weltanshauung.
Thanks for playing it and I am really glad you found some enjoyment from the arc. Also, thanks for pointing out those typos. Those are the ones hardest to get and that a spell checker is useless against. I have already went in and corrected them.
