Oh, you're not. I didn't even mention it because I just assumed everyone did that to varying extents.

  2. There are a few arcs I return to though they are often the short ones where I enjoy the group I'm up against. If showing new people around I will replay arcs or sometimes on the MA Super Team we do arcs I've done in the past.

The above arc was unpublished and has been replaced with a yet to be named arc. If you started the above arc please abandoned it and play Arc ID 457506 if you get the chance. Thanks and sorry about that.

  5. Despite all the votes to the contrary, I have unpublished the arc. It had 172 plays at the time and was still firmly at 4 stars. The reasons why I finally made this choice are numerous.

First off, and this to me is the most important, it's just not the same arc anymore. I have over doubled the amount of text in the arc, changed 3 of 4 maps, rewrote every bosses bio, added many new mechanics, many new clues, added new characters, added a new group and changed several key elements from the original story.

Secondly, it became very clear that an arc as old as the original one was not going to get the level of attention or plays of a new one. Just watching the threads created for the new arcs quickly double the number of views my old arc was getting showed me that.

Third, a very old arc even at 5 stars gets far fewer views than a newer arc with a decent number of plays. So even with if by some miracle the old arc got to 5 stars again, it would be mostly ignored especially by people who think they already played it.

Last, my arc from the last Dr. Aeon Challenge has done very well despite not winning. So well in fact that it exceeded the arc I just unpublished in number of plays despite having been published ten months after it.

I know it's a risk, but I put all this work into the arc because I want it to get played and I felt unpublishing the old arc gave the new one the best chance of accomplishing that.

Actually, Don't count on that one winning. As PW found out, there are no clowns anywhere in the arc.

  8. If you haven't joined the MA Arc Finder channel you should consider it. It's a cross server channel where most of the MA authors and players hang. You can promote your arc there.

    WN
  9. Oh, I wanted to add that the two people that already played it before I announced the contest, but after the reworking of the arc, are automatically entered into the raffle.

    WN
  10. OK, after 20+ hours reworking my arc "Have a Blap, Blap, Blappy Day Kids!", Arc ID: 2019 for Dr. Aeon's Third Challenge, I have decided it needs a rename. So, I'm offering the following top prize to the person who comes up with the new name I select (or like best if I end up not using any suggested):

[Armageddon : Dam (Superior).50] (retail value current 250 million)

    I will also award three:

    [Synthetic Nucleolus Exposure.50]

to three other names that I like. They may be runners up or just names that I think are creative.

Additionally, anyone that plays the arc, rates it, and leaves me feedback during this time will be entered in a raffle for 100 million inf. I know a lot of you here would have play it anyways, so this just a little bonus thank you.

    RULES

    - Contest will run now through 10/17 with the winners announced on 10/18

    - You don't even need to play the arc to enter (though obviously this would give you a leg up in coming up with a new name for it).

    - To enter just post your name suggestions to this thread. You may enter as many times as you like with as many names as you come up with.

    - Anyone can enter, but I'm only posting the contest to this forum and the MA Arc Finder Channel so your odds are pretty good.

  11. Thanks for playing it Rose and for the feedback!

    Just to make this clear:

Disregard any reviews or comments above Rose's in this thread. The arc has been totally redone and they no longer are accurate.

    WN
  12. Excellent job Fred I really enjoyed the arc! I already sent you all my comments in game.

    WN
  13. Zamuel,

The arc for the challenge has moved to the testing phase, so if you get a chance to check it out, that would be great. Arc ID: 457506

    WN
  14. OK, this arc is ready to be tested. Besides the normal typo and mistakes some things I'm interest in hearing opinions about:

    - Should the arc still be set to Comedy?

    - Is the title still good, or should I consider changing it?

    - The contact is "An Abandoned TV" and left it unclear as to it's natures (like is it "The Television", just picking it's broadcasts or one of it's minors? Does this work for you?

    - Do the mission titles fit well (They are all TVtropes)

    - Should the boss in mission 3 be spawned off the clue or just be there from the get go?

    - Is the ending clear enough and satisfying enough?

    - I normally color code the clues, but did not this time. Do you miss it or think it's OK as is.

    WN
  15. Another day and more changes:

    - Changed Contact name and bio

    - Changed Souvenir and text for it

M3: Changed Nav text for SBB

M3: Made email clue look like an actual email

    M4: Changed location of WN

M4: Set all boss encounters to "boss only" to complete

M4: Added new minion to group "Blappy Fans"

    M4: Changed Mission Map

Most important I have set the arc to "Looking for Feedback", so please play away!

    WN

Help out the blind I mean seriously... I'm either totally blind or there's an option I need to turn on somewhere to see how many plays an ARC has got.
I've answered the question and can't understand how you're missing it. Open up the MA search window. See the arcs there and the "Play" button on the right? Under the "Play" button will be the number of stars followed by a number in parentheses like this (125). That's the number of times it has been played and rated. Well to be exact, that number will not include repeat plays. In the window towards the top is a tab "My Creations", click that and click the "My Published Arcs" tab to see your arcs.

Back to the original subject. You'd be pretty crazy to throw that many ratings away. You know the situation out there... It won't have that many ratings again without AE getting some major love.

Like Bill O Reilly once said' Do it live! Do it live!! (I hope someone gets that joke!) But yeah just edit the live version! Plan out what you wish to change. If it's just texts and not the mechanics then you should be golden.
I've certainly done lots and lots of editing of published arcs, so that's not even a minor consideration for me. I'm most definitively changing lots of stuff including text, maps, mechanics, characters and more.

No matter what happens with this arc, I have to look at which arc I'm going to delete if I ever want to create a new arc again.

    WN
  19. Thanks to everyone for the responses. I didn't expect it to so heavily fall on the "don't unpublish" side. I'm not convinced that is the best way to go. I really wish I knew what the exact rating of the arc was because that would make the decision very easy. In any case, at least for now I'm heavily modifying the existing arc.

I think you misunderstand me. I don't want to know who rated what, I would like to know how many of each rank and a total. Example: X 5 stars, X 4 stars, etc., current rating 4.28. That way if the rating is say 3.72 or something I could make an educated call on how to proceed.

Do you honestly think this arc didn't get those too? In fact, there may be more than average since this arc was published MA day 1 when it was especially rampant.

I asked support if I could have the exact rating number of the arc to help me decide and they said no because they don't give that out. I can't imagine why that information would be kept from the arc's author.

Just search for your arc in the MA search window or click the "My Published Stories" tab.

It was my first published arc and to be honest, not nearly as polished as my more recent ones (yet that is). Also, I improve arcs as I get feedback, so it is way different then when it got some of those early lower ratings. My guess is that it's closer to 4 stars than 5 and it would take more than 12 5 stars to get it over the hump. That is a guess though, so who knows?

    WN
  24. OK, while I collect opinions on if I should delete this arc and republish an updated version or just mod the current arc, I'm going to work on the published version. What I have done so far:

    - Changed the arc flag from "final" to "work in progress"

    - M1: Made Berle Blappy's agent

    - M1: Added Berle as an ally you rescue

    - M1: Add a new character (Nemesis Boss level)

    - M1: Added two WPAR employees to rescue

    - M1: Deleted the DVD clue

    - M1: Changed the mission briefing to reflect other changes

    - M1: Added Clue to Berle

    - M1: Added Clue to new boss
