  1. I would be fine with 1, 3, 4, and 5, but honestly, the "gimmicks" of the trials are the only parts of the trials themselves that I actually find annoying. Marauder's auto-hit artillery strike, Anti-Matter's auto-hit Pulse are ridiculous and not a proper "obstacle." So anything along those lines would be very annoying in my opinion.

Also, this sounds fine for an actual "Incarnate" mode, meaning that the mode is meant to be played by characters who already have run the trials and acquired their Incarnate abilities. In other words, too difficult for a character just starting their Incarnate journey. But given the amount of people wanting to play through regular content as a means by which to obtain Incarnate abilities/components/merits, I would say it would be a far better idea to cater to that party first.
  2. Pool power customization (which includes Flight, Stealth, Teleport, and Super Speed) is something that has been requested many many times. The Devs are aware of the desire among players to be able customize the manner in which they fly/run/teleport/etc., but we've been told that it is a large undertaking due to the fact that every character has potential access to every pool power. What is probably holding them up is finding the easiest and most efficient way to implement all of this, while also delivering the most options to the player base.

The possibility of Mastermind summoning power customizations is slim, considering the animations do not activate nearly as often as some other powers in the game. And I can almost guarantee that we will never see a customization option for Rest.

However, everything else up is highly possible, and even probable, it just a matter of when.
  3. I prefer ranged classes, and above all, Blasters. I'd say about 2/5 of my total number of characters is comprised of Blasters.

Blasters are the gunmen. Artillery, snipers, heavy machine gun operators... whatever real-world analogy works for you, they are the ones that fight from range and kill things before they can get close enough to retaliate.

You are preaching to the choir, sir. That's all I am doing, but then, so far I have only wanted one power each for every one of my 50s (for thematic reasons), and a handful of the rewards from Christy and Michael (which did not include the pricy Ascension Armor pieces). The fact is that everyone loves options, and unfortunately most of the options are still in production.
  5. While I agree that it would be nice, for the moment the Devs seem to be trying to find ways to increase or at the very least maintain trial play, and having the ability to do most of what you just listed would counteract those efforts.

As I've said in lord-knows-how-man threads, options that make solo progression more viable could very well be in the pipe-line, but they are likely a long ways off.

I.E. It's okay if the devs do it, but you cannot. Post said with a hint of bitterness and much sarcasm, take with as many grains of salt as you desire.
    I'd like to echo this.

That said, I respect the Devs' efforts to keep these ATs tied to the lore in which they are based. After all, their names are the Arachnos Soldier and the Arachnos Widow. Their costumes and weaponry should be based around that used by Arachnos NPCs... to a point. I believe that the player should have the ability to write their character's story as they see fit (especially since it is possible to take an Arachnos Soldier/Widow and make them a Hero), and that should include some customization. In my opinion, "extraneous" costume pieces (which are shoulders, gloves, boots, chest details, weapons, and Head>Detail 1 and Detail 2) should be customizable. Keep the central part of the body as lore-specific as you like as far as I am concerned.
  7. While I think that that graphic being specific to Soul Storm is cool because it makes the power unique, I agree that it would be very cool to incorporate into Gravity Control's Hold powers. /signed.

  9. I am always a fan of new music, and would indeed love for some new stuff to be introduced with CoH Freedom.

Also, nice job on the song, Voice! I gotta say, if that was playing during the character creation process, I would probably end up making a lot of premature decisions because I would be getting too psyched for getting the character into the game

    /Signed for new music!

That attitude, and the fact that so many share it is why we won't see a solo path any time soon. The devs may very well be convinced these trials are key to the end game. If that is the case they are going to need you and everyone else spoonfeeding the new players a happy populous successful set of trials.

I'd go so far as to say the more people hate the Itrials, the less likely the devs will get rid of them, If anything they may try upping the rewards again and again. (Note they are already giving away the store with the things as it is)
Most people (I include myself here) do not hate the Incarnate Trials themselves, they hate having to do them over and over as the only option. On a similar level, I very much enjoy running a Rikti Mothership Raid because it is the quickest and most efficient way to gain Vanguard Merits, but it is far from the only way. And the thing is: I see Rikti Mothership Raids being run on a weekly basis, despite the other available options for obtaining Vanguard Merits.

A solo-friendly option would not be the end of the Incarnate Trials. The trials would probably remain the quickest and most efficient way to obtain Incarnate Threads, Astral Merits, Empyrean Merits, and possibly components as well (rares and very rares specifically). They would simply be run less frequently, most likely with a weekly night on a given server devoted to them (like many have done already with Mothership Raids and/or Hamidon Raids), and spontaneous leagues here and there provided they are able to round up enough people. And with them being run less frequently, those people like myself (who are more burnt out on the trials and dislike that they are the only option) may actually enjoy a Trial run here and there.

You're right, my bad. I misread the original announcement and read "Dark Melee" instead of "Dark Armor."

We can still expect to see Smite, Shadow Maul, Midnight Grasp, and Dark Pit, as per the comments from yesterday's U-Stream. Should be a set chock-full of utility.

Doesn't say anything about Tenebrous Tentacles, but they've never let us double up powers in the past and Soul Tentacles in Soul Mastery is an identical clone of TT. I'm betting something will be changed there. Very possibly it will be replaced with Dark Obliteration.

I'm very surprised that Life Drain wasn't mentioned, I was pretty sure the devs would never give blasters a true self heal in a primary or secondary. Since they haven't released a power list or all the details yet, we'll have to wait and see about that one.

Curious as to what Dark Manipulation will contain as well. If Life Drain is left in the blast set, it's a safe bet that Siphon Life and Dark Regeneration will not appear in the Manipulation set.

    My guess is as follows:

T1: Gravity Well or something similar, probably a single target version of Tenebrous Tentacles, or a ranged version of Midnight Grasp's immobilize.
    T2: Shadow Punch or Smite
T3: Death Shroud (Electric Manipulation gets it's damage aura early, so there's precedent)
    T4: Smite or Shadow Maul
T5: Build Up or possibly Soul Drain (I'd like to see Soul Drain here personally, it'd be unique among Blaster sets)
    T6: Dark Consumption
T7: Fearsome Stare (I would not be surprised if this is ported as it is, it's no more powerful than Shiver)
    T8: Cloak of Darkness
    T9: Midnight Grasp
This is probably close, but not exact. Synapse said in the announcement that Dark Manipulation "would be a combination of Dark Melee, Defender Dark Blast, and Dark Miasma," then they mentioned in the U-Stream that it will include three melee attacks (Smite, Shadow Maul, and Midnight Grasp) and Dark Pit from Defender Dark Blast. I don't know how likely it is that we will see any powers from Dark Armor, despite Cloak of Darkness being quite fitting.

10 mins later, I got an invite. Within a few minutes we were at 16. Queued.
15 mins later we were still queued and sb mentioned that it might be bugged so we swapped leaders around to see if that would help. It didn't so we all quit the league and the leader re-invited us, locked the League as private to avoid the wait, and queued again.
5 mins later, still no event, the leader decided to invite more to see if 24 would avoid a wait. 5 or so mins went by, and then we were 24 and queued.
10 mins later the damn BAF still hadn't started, and despite totally disbanding the league and joining up all over again, it wouldn't let us start.
    I quit and logged out.

    Total waste of time.

    SOLO INCARNATE PATH, PLEASE!

    Eco.
The bolded text was enough. I still dislike having to wait for the only way to progress my Incarnate.

But the rest of that is ridiculous! That is seriously bugged. I hope a Community red name sees this soon, because while I have never heard of it happening before, that needs to be looked at.

Dark Pit will be in Dark Manipulation, as per today's U-Stream.

    Yes yes yes!!

I'm leaving my previous post as is, but I just thought of something: given that there has been no mention of removing "Tenebrous Tentacles" from the new blaster's version of Dark Blast, and Blasters have access to AoE immobilizations in the Patron Power Pools, are we going to have blasters that can immobilize entire mobs, bosses included?!

I mean, that would be kick-***, but it is just surprising...
  16. *sigh* I was never on the wagon to begin with. However, since I shy away from melee, that decreases the number of possible alts I am going to want to try out. And you know what? If they have to enable my alt-oholism by making Dark/Dark blasters a possibility, then as they say "Jimmy crack corn and I don't care."

    QFT

Though I was after the Ice Block costume change emote, and the Frost and Electric path auras.
  19. Winterminal

    Yes yes yes!!

I'll second this, very much looking forward to making a Dark/Dark blaster and taking it red side for the Soul Mastery.

Based on the published changes, I'm guessing it will look something like this:

    Dark Blast
    Gloom
    Umbral Torrent
    Aim
    Abyssal Gaze
    Moonbeam
    Tenebrous Tentacles
    Life Drain
    Blackstar

As for Dark Manipulation, I'm picturing something along these lines, based on what was announced and what they said in the U-Stream:

Tar Pit, probably only the slow component
    Smite
    Shadow Maul
    Fearsome Stare
Build Up (or possibly Soul Drain with/without damage component?)
    Dark Pit
    Midnight Grasp
    Dark Consumption
    *no clue*

Bottom line: I cannot wait to make my first evil blaster Dark/Dark/Soul...
  20. Dark/Dark Blasters FTW!

Not only am I ecstatic about a new Blaster secondary, but given my love for mono-thematic powersets, this finally gives me a reason to create a blaster that either starts as or becomes a villain, and dips into the patron power pools. YES!!!

Also, I can't wait to try out the changes to Energy Aura on my Stalker. I applaud thee, Devs!

and as for "When" Black Pebble let "October" slip in a post not too long ago, so probably thereabouts.

It is tangential, and was discussed in another thread. (Essentially, it was pointed out that typical raid social interaction is, "LF Raid. Leaders instructions. Kthxbai." and how that mentality is not something we should be encouraging considering it has not been prevalent in the game in the past.)

    Back on topic:

Trials are massive events, and therefore require masses of people, which in turn generates a lot of buzz and excitement between people. It makes sense from a marketing standpoint that the first wave of content based around their new end-game system would be designed in such a manner that would involve a large number of players at one time.

I am going to choose to have faith in the Devs that a solo/small-teams progression option is in the pipeline. Given that it will most likely take longer to get through (since the amount of time something takes is usually inversely proportional to the amount of players going through it), I expect that it will also take longer to test. So it may be a while before it is introduced. But, if for no other reason but my own sanity and peace of mind, I am going to say that it will be here eventually.

Unfortunately, houtex, our hope was dashed once Issue 21 was announced. The new zone that is coming is called First Ward, and you can read about what it is here.

Alas, we return to blind faith that one day we will be able to venture into outer space.

    I lol'd.

I agree with Ad Astra: What aspects of their "building" capabilities did you find particularly useful?
  25. I too have tons of costume files saved on my computer, but most are simply concepts. For example, "I have no desire to play a ninja lion, but what would it look like?!" So I create it, save it, and back out of the creator to play an existing toons. Then, if I ever find myself wanting to play a ninja lion, I have a tangible idea to go off of.

To get back on topic though, I think what Damz is saying is that he has been redoing so many costumes with the new additions (adding pieces, removing pieces, tweaking, recoloring, etc.) that he has run out of options with which to pay for these fixes. Unfortunately, though, I don't think we'll be seeing any new costume tokens until the launch of i21, where they will probably be sold for a (very hopefully) low amount of Paragon Points. And if you are strapped for cash, I suggest running Hero/Villain tips for 4 days, grabbing an LoTG: 7.5% recharge recipe and dump it in the market for probably close to 100mil.

Now, if you are simply compulsively changing your costume, there is really no fix for that except to be content with what you are wearing, at least for a little while until you can garner enough inf to pay for some more changes. If your thing is "I like to see it outside the Icon interface" and the costume is available at character creation, I suggest rolling an alt with a same or similar costume and running around Atlas Park just to see what it looks like, then delete the alt and log the character again, adding the necessary changes.
