When I said I would be here til the lights went out, I did not think I'd be able to do that for free.

Now that I can... I intend to remain ViP for as long as I can justify it. If for no other reason than to continue supporting a game that has given me nearly a decade of enjoyment. If at some point the perks start to fade and I have other financial concerns, well.... I'll be here til the servers shut-down. Just might be as a Tier9 Premium though.
    Quoted for Shakespeare! (QFS?)

But I also agree with the sentiment. If I were at Tier 9, in all honesty, I probably would have dropped down to Premium at this point, at least for the time being. As it is though, I would lose out on far too much by dropping to Premium now, and will remain VIP.

Either way, I still enjoy this game enough to say, "Here until the servers shut down."

In the past month and a half, we've released costume sets, power sets, a travel power, micro-content releases (the Signature Stories), and more.

The item(s) per week had different price points and targeted different types of play styles. Since we released the Halloween Event and the Halloween Costume Bundle, it made sense to release the convention powers now while all players could have fun with trick-or-treating.

With next week's release, we're aiming to have a little bit more fun with some stuff that compliments our current in-game event.
Ghost Falcon's post in last week's content update topic.

That leads me to believe that this week will be something Halloween-oriented. Except that the event has less than two days left. Then again, the Halloween costume bundle will be here for nearly 3 weeks more, so who knows?
  3. I agree with most of what was said in the original post. That said, "variety is the spice of life." To new players, who want to be "super" immediately, the quick xp with the good rewards is very enticing. However, if a new player levels up to 10+ with the DFB (and many are going higher) and then gets bored, they are really left on their own to figure out where to go, and that's the one danger of which we need to be aware. With contacts, when you out-level one, they introduce you to another one, in a zone appropriate for your level range. For a totally new player, the game is huge and overwhelming enough without having to find what they are supposed to do next.

As a disclaimer, I do not think this is a current issue, merely a possibility that should be considered.

    Thanks, Pinn

Truth. I made a topic about that in this forum, heh.

Glad we could make your stay great MB! Hope to see you again soon.

    - As leading/recruiting is something I enjoy doing, I am grateful to anyone who thanks me and/or compliments me for my leadership of a team/league.

    - I, like Zombie Man, love a good railing kill. Though I found that killing Crey snipers in Founder's Falls or Peregrine Island brings a similar level of enjoyment. Seriously, go smack one of those snipers camping on the corner of a building, let rag doll physics do the rest, and you'll know what I'm talking about.

    - Using my level 50 tanker's Knockout Blow on a level 2 Hellion in Atlas Park. It's a weird paradox to be sending a Hellion up to heaven...

    - Similar to above: Using Power Push to send a low level enemy into the next neighborhood.

    - Being able to perma-hold a Boss on my Ice/Ice blaster.

    - Most recently: hover blasting over the lava in Who Will Die: Arc 1, Mission 3.

    Just to name a few...
  7. While I agree, and would love to see something like this, I do not think they will ever do it. Reason being: Staff Melee has not been officially even mentioned by anyone at Paragon Studios (the only evidence being a video of moves that surfaced for about an hour one day) and look how much talk that has garnered here on the forums. Just imagine how much hype and build-up stuff would receive if they were to offer such information, no matter how laden with disclaimers it was? They would set themselves up for an attack if they failed to meet one or more of the objectives because this is the forums and we are unreasonable, haha.

    LotG: EP

I can't tell, because the title already had "LotG" in it. It would have been an interesting psychological experiment to have a simpler title that doesn't reveal anything, then the picture as the first thing seen.

Had that been the case, I think may have fallen prey to this...
  9. Bubba... yikes dude! This recent one reminds me of a subliminal message video. Trippy, confusing, but intriguing enough to make me want to check it out. Props to you!
  10. Looking good sir! I am actually planning on going as the Cap for next year. This year, it is Cyclops. Yes, I do have the collector's edition visor from the second movie. Yes, I will post pictures
  11. Truth FTW.

The elimination of the 15 Empyrean Merit unlock cost on the new Incarnate Powers, as well as the reinstated BAF and Lambda rewards are prime examples of this. Not to mention the changes that they are making to the Keyes Island trial based on player feedback over the past few months.

There's a reason I continue paying my subscription, even now that we have the option to play without paying...
  12. Wow! Lots of great stuff in here, Quinzel!

Sometimes I really wish I had the money with which to commission art like this.
  13. You cannot teleport to the Shadow Shard/Firebase Zulu. In addition, it should be noted that not ALL hero zones can be selected as destinations (something which many of us feel should be fixed). You cannot access any Hazard Zones.

I think Peregrine Island might also be inaccessible, but I am not sure and am at work currently, so I cannot check.

This. If I want to see my costume change, I'll just type it out. It takes about 2 seconds longer, and I never have to worry about missing the emote. Though Zombie Man's suggestion is the best for dealing with the actual window.
  15. Everyone at Paragon Studios should still be fine, since the NCSoft offices are different than the Paragon Studios offices.

What would be a more legitimate concern would be: if NCSoft is downsizing, what will this mean for CoX's future? However, I think it is far too early to worry at all about such things.

Consider this request seconded by yours truly.

Though, to deviate from my usual optimism, I do not think we'll get it. Considering that the Devs are doing all they can to encourage the play of Incarnate Trials, I do not see them removing an exclusive incentive.

    Pieces of Win

Glad you found those!. When the Head Start began, I immediately purchased the Rocket Board, Beam Rifle, and those two things. I don't use the capes as much as I thought I would, but I have DEFINITELY made tons of use out of the auras since.

    CoH and Lion

At least for the moment, it works very well. There was a brief period post-i21-Head Start (you know, where they were patching and doing maintenance every other day) where Snow Leopard was in better shape, but they both seem to work beautifully now.

Besides, I see myself less as a player and more as a storyteller, and I'm all too happy to see my characters as powerful or weak themselves, without having to butt in on their achievement with my own skill. If I won because my character is awesome... That's awesome
I think you misunderstood, then again, I phrased it poorly. I did not mean "me, the player" I meant "me, the character, as opposed to other characters." That being the case, I'd venture to say that we agree here. Like you, I prefer my characters to be awesome in their own right, which is why I am not a huge fan of the current Incarnate Trials: the same bad guys that I was able to solo before Incarnate abilities (in Maria Jenkins' arc) are now requiring 8 to 24 people to defeat. And let's not even talk about Maelstrom in the TPN...

And no, I did not think you were contesting the MMO design model, more just stating the obvious for anyone else reading, for evidence purposes.

As for the OP, I agree to a point. By the time my character hits 50, he/she should be feeling damn powerful, and even more so if I choose to invest in IO Sets and the Incarnate System. And I agree that "powerful" should be in relation to what can be conquered. I feel, as you say, "awesome" when I am running through Maria Jenkins' arc solo and defeating all of the Praetorian AVs. And no matter where I am in the city, if I am flying through and see one of those NPC civilian chat bubbles pop up, calling for help, I will quickly detour and dispatch the villains because I play this game to be a hero of the city/world. Because being able to don a kick-*** outfit, fly through rows of skyscrapers, and wield superhuman abilities to save the world is enough for me.

However, that is not enough to keep the majority of the playerbase around, nor is simply "being awesome." Sure, everyone playing this game is doing so because, on some level, they love the genre and/or want to be a superhero (or villain...) themselves. But what keeps them around is the challenge; the fact that there is always something to be achieved, whether it is a badge, a power, an enhancement, or something else entirely. If a player could log into the game for the first time and immediately contend with Archvillains, they would probably play the game until they defeated all of the archvillains in multiple ways, and then would grow bored with it because there was little left to achieve, to offer them a challenge. If everyone was content with being able to conquer everything easily, the Devs would never have to design another piece of content; players would be content to run around and one-shot everything in Atlas Park.

The fact is that this is a game, and in order to keep people interested, the highest degree of difficulty has to be just above what we as a player can easily achieve. We can graze it, hit with certain outlier scenarios/characters, but never achieve it on a global scale. Impossible obstacles are just frustrating. But obstacles that are simply improbable are the most enthralling things for humans, especially gamers. For gamers playing an MMO, there needs to be a large multi-player aspect to it, since that is the foundation of the industry.

In summary, I feel most powerful when soloing my blasters, because I know it is me who is accomplishing all of the tasks, and therefore achieving the most. For that reason, I thoroughly hope that a viable small-teams method of Incarnate progression is in the not-too-distant future. But I think we should continue to expect the Devs to design content for large groups first (but not only) because that is where the highest amount of challenge lies.
  21. Go figure. I was scouring the NCSoft site for it, since a few links off the main site kept sending me there. You'd think they would have both the Mac and Windows versions available for download there...
  22. Let me say that I like your idea. I dislike that the trials lower the significance of the individual, and would love it if my characters could go one-on-one with Cole and be the sole savior of Praetoria.

That being said, I do not see this happening for a couple reasons. First, the Devs promised seven Praetorian Trials. We have now seen six, and since (as you say) Tyrant is really the only one left, it is pretty clear that "Cole's Tower" or something will be the final Praetorian trial. Second, Cole is the Well's champion (according to the game). Until we have access to the Omega slot, I cannot imagine us currently having the strength to take down Cole single-handedly.

Again, I wish it were so, and indeed, I hope in the future that we can be on the same solo-strength level as Statesman, but I do not see it happening with Cole.
  23. Well I just spent a good 15 minutes looking myself, and strangely enough, the NCSoft website only has a link to download the version for Windows, and the link does not grant you access to the Mac version. Too strange...

Heck, if I were you, I would contact NCSoft support via email. This is a fairly simple request, and should therefore be answered within a day. With any luck, someone else will chime in here saying that they've found it, but if not, you'll have your answer from the source.

Sorry I can't be more helpful... but you're right, it is quite elusive. That's annoying...
  24. I would love to have the PPD Hardsuit for one of my characters, but I can't justify the points for a costume toggle.

In actuality, I just want those boots!
  25. Shakespeare for the win! Henry V is definitely one of my favorite histories.
