I personally don't classify anyone by anything except archetype when I look at broadcasts. I've been on too many teams lately where the leader picks up a "healer" and the team falls apart because everyone thought this player rolled an empath.
Usually when I'm leading my own teams I skip over the "healer" broadcasts because anymore it doesn't tell me anything. If that same person was to say "lvl XX archetype" they stand a much better chance of getting picked up because it narrows down what you can expect from them. As Virtual_Gamer pointed out, a "healer" could even refer to a scrapper. Again, very misleading.
[/ QUOTE ]
Okay WHEN I even bother to broadcast I have a Macro set up:
XX level Ill/EMP Controller LFT Heals, Rez, Buffs along with Stealth and recall friend.
I do this with almost all of my characters varying the message depending on the AT. That way any team leader knows WHO I am, WHAT I am, and WHAT I offer the team. My search comments are pretty much identical to that as well.
Oh and while I also play, Stormies, Thermals, Etc can someone please tell me when EMPS got such a bad name? and if so why do I normally get 2 to 3 BLIND invites a night asking me to join someone's team? A GOOD Emp (Defender or Controller) offers a lot more than just heals (at least they better). Next time your battling a 52 level or better AV start screaming for Fort or Clear Mind to your Stormie and see how fast you get it LOL -

Besides mission completion XP/Inf, there's arc XP/inf rewards (they can be - relatively - huge at the lower levels), patrol XP doesn't work in MA, and no Merits awarded. There's also no purple recipe drops.

You missed at least 1 more... While they may be old, tired, and content that players have done countless times you can't earn the badges needed for the accolades that increase HP, End, Etc . Only place to get those is in the "old"game. And while there are a LOT of badges associated with the AE for those serious badgers out there they still need the old content to get the vast majority of the available badges. Opps that was 2 huh? lol
I have taken to sort of mixing it up some AE and some regular missions, TF, etc. I DO LOVE buying enhancements with tickets and not using a cent of influence to upgrade my characters. Have done so with several now and they are growing richer and richer as they continue doing TFs,and everything else. -

In the high game for an empath, my focus is on
#1) Buffs and
#2) the Damage you can bring
Healing barely enters into it, build a decent AOE attack set, which being elec alos means you bring some control into play through the end drain.

Most definately signed!!! You hit the upper levels and almost everyone, Squishy Blasters included {I can say that since I have more than one lol}, have enough defense or DPS that healing becomes almost non-existant unless your taking on an AV at level 50 on level 5 difficulty. Slot Fortitude so it not only provides a good buff but comes back fast enough to use on numerous team mates. By all means enhance your attacks and for goodness sake TAKE them. I always looked at my secondary (my attacks) as preventative medicine. Okay I am never going to do as much damage as a blaster but any damage is good damage and the faster the villains go down the less need there is for those heals you used constantly in the lower levels [if they is all dead they aren't hurtin anyone anymore].
As for a server switch I play on Virtue and rarely have a problem finding a team and I know Infinity is pretty much he same. Freedom is THE most active server but I have never played there and other posts I have seen here lead me to believe the #2 and #3 choices MAY be better anyway LOL
Good luck and don't give up I have several EMP defenders at level 50 .. IT CAN be done! -
Just to add an example that occurred this evening to emphasize you point (I agree with you 100% BTW... I don't PL myself but have always said there are a 1000 ways to play this game and none is right or wrong). Okay I hooked up with an 8 man team in Brickstown and the first few radio misions went well but then the leader and a couple others said their farewells and logged for the night. That left 5 of us and the next mission up was a Safeguard. Now let's clarify I am playing a 30 level scrapper working on 31 on a team of players the same level as I am. We enter the mission and I have 2 players asking HOW do these things work this is all new to them? A third is whinning about just doing the bank part and getting out because he/she hates these things.
Okay we hit the bank and take out the forces up front and then I head toward the vault and the Boss waiting there. For a while I hold my own but he has a Tsoo Sorceror healing him and eventually I go down wondering where in the HECK my support went? As I lay there dead I see 1 other team member still inside the bank and at one point all 5 of us had been in there. Oh and the one inside with me is at the front door NOT the vault.
I hit the hospital and met up with my "team mates?" at the Arachnos Flyer and we did somehow manage to prevent the robbers from escaping which thankfully was just enough to get me out of debt. The team quickly headed out and I checked BADGES.
Only 1 person on the team, aside from me, had more than 3 months in game and 2 had absolutely no vet badges at all. Aside from me almost no one had any TF or door mission badges but they all had a number of AE badges. The player with 3 months in game, the whinner, had apparently TRIED a KHTF but never completed it (had badges for 5 6 7 and 8 times the victor). In other words they'd managed to PL their way into the high 20s or 30 doing PL farms before the nerf and now were out there TRYING to learn the game. Prior to MA arcs how many players above level 8 didn't know that there is a VILLAIN in the back of the bank trying to break into the vault? This is NOT brain surgery it's simple basic stuff that anyone that actually played the game learned quickly as they went after a Raptor Pack in KR.
If a 60 month Vet with multiple 50 wants to PL that's his business but a BRAND new player to the game needs to LEARN how to play or they are going to get a lot of what they got from me tonight. After we exited the mission and I discovered WHO I was playing with .. I quietly and quickly QUIT the team and went about my business. Debt may be a fact of life in this game but its not one I enjoy and I am certainly not going to play on a team like THAT where its an iron clad gaurentee. -
Sounds nice but sort of throws off the whole balance of the EMP set. The healing powers are useful in the early game so having them available means an EMP can provide that sevice. While Fort and CM are essential later on in the early game most team mates can get by against the limited abilities of most villains they face as long as the EMP keeps their HP high. Frankly by the 30s and 40s I am using Fort and CM a LOT more and occasionally using Heal Other to manage that one one two team mates that are taking damage. I think the order was determined based on this fact and see no reason to switch it.

I'm aure there is probably one out there somewhere but why not just go to Vidiotmap.com and work off of that? Each beacon requires you to access all the exploration badges in a zone and it is even possible to download a map overlay that adds those loaction to each map on game. Here is the link:
http://www.vidiotmaps.com/downloads.php
Not sure how new you are to all this so just let me add there are a total of 22 beacons available. Atlas Park, Galaxy City, Kings Row, Steel Canyon, Skyway, Faultline, Talos. Ind. Port, Striga, Croatoa, Brickstown, Founders Fall, Peregrine Island, The Hollows, Perez Park, Boomtown, Terra Volta, Dark Astoria, Creys Folly, Eden, the RWZ, and Pocket D. In order to obtain a beacon any member of the SG must access all the exploration badge markers in a zone...this can be accomplished even if they all ready have that badge simply by revisiting the spot. Supposedly any number of members can assist but years ago it was recommended that 1 member collect all the badges in a zone to ensure they are all accessed and the beacon earned. To speed things up you could have a beacon team and have 4, 5 or even more members working different zones until all beacons have been acquired. Just a note if you want the RWZ plan on participating in a Mothership raid since the last exploration badge is on the mothership, under the shields, and can only be acquired when a raid is taking place and those shields have been disabled. Good luck. -
As mentioned I use superior invisibility to sneak inside a mission. I confuse an entire mob and then decloak, as it were, to help them beat on one another. Eventually it's down to one minion that happily stands there. head glowing purple with a goofy look on his face, while I finish him off.
Get's even more fun once you pick up your Phantom Army since you can confuse the mob and then send in the PA to wipe out the entire group. I have gone entire missions, solo on heroic of course, without ever taking a single hitpoint of damage.
Oh add Plant controllers to that list as well..... not as sneaky and require different tactics but once everything is immobilized, held, and confused you can practically stand back and watch them slowly get strangled into submission.. still soling with her at level 39. -

Not sure I can support this idea.
This pushes a bit close to one of my pet peeves, the idea that there is a "correct" and "incorrect" way to build characters. By allowing someone else to view my build it opens up way too much unnecessary criticism.
I'm here to enjoy myself not listen to a total stranger tell me how wrong I am.
[/ QUOTE ]
Have to agree with this and NOT with your idea for several reasons. 1) it's MY build and if I am functioning well on your team, holding up MY end, I don't need someone (anyone) teling me how much better I could be if I had this here or that there. How I enhance and with what are my business. Some time ago I stopped even bothering with training origin enhancements .. benefits were far too little and throwing INF into them just meant less available later when the better stuff came along. At level 12 I enhance for the first time with 15 level DOS, then 25 level SOs at 22level. I rarely even start placing IO before level 47 and guess what my characters perform just fine.
2) that is getting close to an invasion of privacy. I have nothing to hide but why should anyone be allowed to just click on me and see every detail about me? I understand where you are coming from with the idea.. In light of the recent AE farming and some 50 levels out there that have never seen the outside of the AE building before making 50 it would be reassuring to know the person asking to join your team had at least some idea of how to pick good powers and enhance them to optimize their effect but the game is 5 years old and we managed to survive without that option this long I see no reaspn to change.
3) Just guessing but this could also present some interesting programing problems for the DEVS. The game IS set up so you can veiw and organize your own enhancements but it has never been set so anyone else can. -

They are more endgame/raid oriented; whereas CoH is 'character's journey' oriented.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yea dude, but the journey gets old.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then try altering the journey I can, I HAVE, taken a brand new character fresh out of Outbreak into the sewers below Atlas and emerged in King's Row a 10 level in less than an hour. Ran a few quick radios and got my Raptor Pack, making level 11 along the way, and then headed to Steel Canyon.
Now on a completely different character I logged on on a saturday morning at 11 level and got an invite to do POSI. Good team and within a few hours had the badge and was a level 16. Took a break for lunch and logged back on just to see and sell when a Synaspe TF was forming. I joined and once again in a few hours I was a level 21. After the TF broke I heaed to Talos and while I was at Wentworths finishing up a Sister Psyche TF was starting... You guessed I joined and in 2 hours and 30 minutes I was a level 26.
Someone explain to me what the same old GRIND is because I have ONLY been here 3 and a half year but before when you left Outbreak you had a couple of options.. the sewers to level 7 , contacts to level 5 or 6 in Atlas/Galaxy and some street fighting and then CONTACTs in Kings Row or the Holllows. Back then you RAN everywhere until you reached level 14 and got a permanent travel power oh and a LOT of players were still buying Training Origin Enhancements in the 30s because they couldn't afford anything else.
Personally aside from stopping by to say HI to Dave I haven't run a single mission in the Hollows with any character in a LONG time. Heck prior to the current farming trend I had characters that didn't leave KR until level 14 and ran nothing but radio missions. Let's see added content... well in case you didn't realize it you CAN run the Midnighter's club arc as a 10 level... which usually gets you a couple of levels after facing all those Lost Bosses and the Rikti EB in both missions 2 and 3. Hit level 20, and if you have access to the midnighter's club, and Mercedes Shelton has three different arcs you can tackle. Between 20 an 30 OPTIONS have always been there. Don't want to run contact missions in Talos and IP .. head to Striga and pick up a few temp powers like the wedding band, Holy Shot Gun Shells, and Warwolf whistle. At 25 head to Croatoa and add in a Bow and Arrow and the Iron Blade. [then even if you drop all the way back to a 9 level during Time Travel you still have a lot of added attacks and defenses].
Oh your a badger? We'll thanks to Ouroborus and Time Travel the grind of doing countless missions from a contact TRYING to coax the badge out of them is no longer necessary ... OUTLEVEL the contact and go do the badge mission solo through the Pillar of Ice and Flame (BTW in addition to the badge this also awards a minimum of 2 merits upon completion).
Since absolutely NONE of what I just mentioned existed 3.5 years ago much less 5 I want to know what the same OLD grind is. I haven't even Added the new RWZ or Cimeroroa which gave players 35 and up new content and 2 new TFS. -
I'm sorry, and admittedly I have more time to play than most since I retired, but even back when I was working 8 hours a day 5 days a week and raising my daughter I managed to take my first 50 from 1 level to 50 in 6 weeks and that was with out PLing and not even a lot of the TFs etc.
All this {censored} about how long and how boring it is to level at a normal rate just makes me think of one question... "Just how whimpy a character have you managed to create and do you realy think getting it to 50 in a day or so makes it any less whimpy against 50 level villains?" Face the facts if you suck and can't solo at level 10 chances are you will suck and not be able to solo at 50 either .. so what the heck is the rush? Granted their are exceptions to that as some characters get a lot more powerful in the later levels when their "GOOOOD" powers become available but for the most part if you can't solo and need a team to survive at lower levels for the most part you need that same team to survive at level 50.
I don't object to farming a level or two here or there to obtain some self imposed goal but level 1 - 50 in one day and never left the AE buiilding in Altas Park? I was there recently and over broadcast a 35 level asked how do I get to Steel Canyon? Let's examin that .. That tells me 1) He is a new player not someone with multiple vet rewards and a pile of 50 levels. 2) He has obviously never left the AE building once in those 35 levels because if he had even visited one other zone on the Yellow Line he'd have probably noticed that Steel Canyon was one of the stops. 3) He's probably headed to Steel to complete the midnighter club arc and get into Cimerora cause someone told him you could make a fortune on the ITF 4) He's in for a real SHOCK when he faces enemies who's main attack isn't flicking a switch on their wrist and calling for help. Cimeroran traitors hit like a ton of bricks amd have those blasted surgeons healing them as fast as you hit them.
That guy was headed off into the COH real world with about as much of a clue as a 1 level in Outbreak... heaven help the team he joins, -
I sort of like this idea but take it one step further and remove the AE building in Galaxy City as well. Any BRAND new player coming from Outbreak has the option to go to either there or Atlas Park. By taking out both of those building it means someone that just opened an account won't see a ton of Farming spam until the reach level 5 or 6 and head off to Kings Row. Of course any vet player that has simply created a new character will kow about the change and if they can make it from the train station to the AE building shame on them .. NOT that difficult to avoid the Skulls that roam the streets there. And let's be realistic here if someone wants to get from level 1 or 2 to level 5 fast .. they can always hit the sewers and be in KR in no time and heck if it's a good team you can arrive there as high as 8, 9 or even 10. Farm boys relax I'm sure after 1 or 2 MEOWS you will have exceeded your Ticket cap and be close to 20 level even if you fo have to wait until level 5 to start.
I also agree that removing the AE building in Steel isn't a necessity. As stated the building fits in nicely there admist the other skyscrappers and doesn't seem to be creating any excess lag.
As for Talos I definately agree. That has always been one of the worst lag areas in game, for me at least, so pulling down that building can onlt help the problem a bit.
Of coourse you do realize the chances any of this will happen are slim and even if it does I wouldn't expect it uickly. First of all the Tutorial is located in one spot.. Atlas Park. I found that a little strange simply because why should I have to take my 50 level all the way back from PI to Atlas to run a tutorial on how the AE building and Mission Archetect work when there is an AE building in PI? Seems like they could have easily added that to all buildings and if anyone wanted to know how the same contact was in almost every zone... well he's a hologram. The entire facility is based on the idea that you are entering a holographic world to battle whatever enemies the writers dream up for fun so why couldn't, why wouldn't, the creators design a holograph to instruct the potential customers. It sure beats paying someone to do the job. LOL -

I've actually never seen anyone on Virtue with more than 300. So, pardon me for thinking that these won't have a high collection rate.
[/ QUOTE ]
BS! I'm a virtuite all the way and my main has over 600.
Get out of the D once in a while and socialize with actual PLAYERS =P (i keed)
[/ QUOTE ]
Ummm yeah my main [and all my characters are on Virtue] has close to 360 and I have seem players with way over 500 .. and that WAS in Pocket D during the last Winter Event. Who knows how many she has now.
I always thought the EARLY ones for 25 and such were kind of silly.. "Hey I earned a badge for earning badges". But back in the day, boy that makes me sound old, 200 badges was a pretty big deal since there were only around 300 or less. NOW? 200 is a drop in the bucket so it seems strange that they'd award a badge for that but not go any higher. Hey whatever! Those serious Badge Hounds will go after anything. Give them a badge for 1000 badges and they WILL find a way to earn it. Even if they have to make badges up to get there LOL -
I think what we need is a better system to deal with them. I have so many that at this point as I am adding new ones to my ignore list older ones ae sliding off the back side.
It just isn't working so what we need is a quick and easy way to report the individual to NC SOFT. A button on the email that automatically sends a report to them with the senders account so they can be banned. Let's face it these people advertise via our email until they figure enough folks have banned them and then simply change theri global name and start all over again.
Now if the entire account gets banned after a few reports and they have to start PAYING over and over to create a new one it may actually have some effect. What we have now isn't stopping anything and is barely slowing it down. I swear I have placed certain names on ignore and a week or two later see the exact same name back posting emails to my account again????? They want to get truly serious then set something up so that after a certain number of reported cases the individual doing the advertsing can't even use the same credit card to establish a new account. Now they not only have to pay again to get a new account if they plan to continue but either need multiple Credit cards or need to file the paperwork to get new ones. THAT may actually help. MAY help LOL if they are hard core enough they will find a way regardless but limiting MY email rights doesn't punish them it punishes ME. I don't spam so why shouldn't I be able to email anyone at anytime? I know players that don't belong to an SG... so limiting emails to friends lists and SG members cuts their email rights as well. Let's try punishing the guilty NOT the innocent? -
I am not even sure exactly what the total number of obtainable badges is these day but it is way past 600 and yet the last badge avaiable to reward you for earning badges is Trailblazer (for 200). That means that the last time you get recongnition for taking the time to obtain badges is with more than 2/3 still out there calling to those serious badge hounds.
I was thinking possibly another for getting 400 and the last one for obtaining 600 would be another way of say congratulation for all the time, effort, and INFLUENCE spent. I know people that have spent million and millions crafting to get those badges and have access to the field workstation and others that have devoted hours, DAYS, doing nothing but flashback arcs to obtain the badges there. That's a lot of effort and time to have the last time you get any recognition occur at 200. Heck I play numerous Ill/EMP controllers and can go invisible and get over 100 badges just going from zone to zone collecting Exploration and History badges. Doesn't cost a penny in influence only a couple hours of time.
As for myself I am a semi-devoted badged I think the most I have on any character is around 350 and I have no desire to spend hundreds of millions purchasing salvage and recipes for the crafting badges or hours and hourts in flashback ... I have 50s that could live there but then those below the big FIVE OH don't get play time.
So I am NOT suggesting this because I personally am looking for another badge but I think if a player shows that much dedication some sort of recognition should be given. SO let the argument begin LOL or not -
I like this idea and don't think we should just limit it to travel but make it just like the SB we get from KIN. Attack rate, end recovery, everything would be accelerated for that time period.
Now for the names I understand where you are going the larger the inspiration the LONGER the distance but in reality the person running a 100 yd dash is going faster than the one in a 10 or 20 K marathon because the marathoner has to pace him or herself for the longer race. How about something like this:
Rapid all powers excellerate 15% for 45 seconds
Rush all powers excellerate 20% for 60 seconds
Race all powers excellerate 25% for 90 seconds
Just an suggestion but I do like this idea. -
Yeah I am going to agree wth the majority, at least so far, here and say no to that idea. It;s not because I am opposed to paying extra for some things I have the Wedding Pack, Valkyre pack and the Magic pack stuff but we already have over 100000 MA Arc stories out there with people limited to just 3. While I enjot playing some of those I also enjoy the OLD game and at some point I wonder just how many of these "player" stories the servers can handle.
Also while I have purchased certain items because I saw them and liked them I am NOT that crazy about this new trend toward buying the really NEAT stuff as opposed to being given it.
I have posted here before that I think the VET rewards need a HARD look. After 3 and a half years I have so many costume changes and free respecs I will never use them all and while I was excited at the prospect frankly the two powers I have been granted sort of suck. Sands of Mu misses way more often than it hits, same with the Nemesis staff and with no way to enhance the accuracy the end up worthless attack I rarely touch.. when I am facing an AV and starting to run low on end the last thing I need to do is whiff air for a few seconds and waste END.
They gave us wings and then tunred around and gave EVERYONE wings. See what I am saying? Even the 5 year (60 month) reward got nerfed.. at one point it was supposed to allow players access to the good stuff in any pool power now its down to JUST the travel powers. Sure getting Teleport of Fly at level 6 instead of level 14 is nothing to sniff at but it's no where near what it was supposed to be originally.
The idea behind the Vet rewards was to make us feel good about being around that long and encourage us to stay. Sure its been so long so long since I paid for a costume I can't remember when I had to but I have older characters with 20+ in game free costume changes the only characters that benefits are the new ones I make. Respec? I have been around long enough now and utilze assests like Paragon Wiki before I make any new character. I think I have done a Respec trial maybe twice in three plus years because I needed a respec. I do them now for the badge and the merits. I plan out my characters build in advance and even take a good hard look after leveling before slotting enhancemnets.. Okay not everyone pays that much attention to detail but a LOT do here.
NO I can't see allowing players to just go out and BUY more story arcs. Like the man said.. you want more EARN them. Get yourself a Devs choice or a Hall of Fame and earn the right to another slot. Please please don't let this comment turn this into another FARMING debate but there are litterally thousands of FARM oriented stories out there.. WHO do you think will be first in line to buy more story slots? Although since they historically play the same mission over and over maybe not All they really need is one arc anyway. -
Okay until they come up with a way for you to do it like you want why not use the same method the Dev's have used all along? Your Ally, whom you want to die and not be able to assist you, is already dead when you arrive. Use that body bag we find so frequently in Vahz missions and after defeating the guards around it simply have a note he managed to write before dying give the clue. It's a glowie so the player clicks on him and the text pops up! Not as dramatic as seeing him persih but it works and allows you to do the rest of the story as you wanted. Your potential players are some what devastated because they didn't arrive in time to save the other hero and use the clue provided to continue.
Just a thought -
[ QUOTE ]
1) Increase exp from Contact missions.
---> Make it so that, while in a mission given to you by a contact, all exp is increased. You can do this by either making it so that there is a set 25% bonus to all or every enemy you defeat gives exp as if it was actually +1-2 levels higher than it really is.
[/ QUOTE ]
Can't say I agree with this one. Current EXP is fine on regular missions and increasing it could simply shift the farming emphasis from MA Arcs to something else .. face facts, while I don't farm there will always be someone that finds a way to exploit the system. Why give them another avenue to do so?
[ QUOTE ]
2) Get rid of defeat x enemies in contact arcs.
---> Eliminate all missions that cause street grinding. Instead, replace these with smaller missions. The tailor mission, for example, can have Icon send you after a forming cell nearby their store, instead of having you grind around the area.
---> What this does: First off, if you solo, some of these missions can be very hard as mobs exist in large groups and varying levels of difficulty. It discourages a lot of people from doing the contact. Secondly, it allows teams to go from point a to point b quicker, thus making contacts more inviting.
[/ QUOTE ]
I like the idea of doing away with defeat X number of villains on Costume missions and would also inlcude the one for earning an Aura at level 30. Come up with some door missions to accomplish this task. As for doing away with all of them? I think that may be a little bit of overkill. I could definately see cutting back on them in story arcs. Take Striga Island for example .. just about every contact there REQUIRES you to go steet hunt at least once during their mission arc ... Let's cut down on that and just LET me do your "ACTUAL" missions.
[ QUOTE ]
3) Change newspapers/radios. Details below.
---> Make it so that when a player uses a news/radio that four choices are opened up. a: Get the loot/stop a robbery. b: steal an item. c: defeat an enemy. d: rescue/kidnap. A missions give -25% bonus exp on completion, but can be done very fast. B missions give -10% exp because you can stealth to the item without having to kill any foes. C missions give +10% extra exp because you can complete them quickly but you only have to clear one room. D missions give +25% exp because you have to clear the whole mission to guide your npc from one place to the next.
---> This makes it so players have more incentive to get rescue missions and to not just avoid them. Also, this can be even more fine tuned where you get bonus exp based on the enemies you fight. IE: You get more exp off of a vahz steal mission than a hellion defeat mission.
[/ QUOTE ]
This idea isn't bad. I'd add a few things First.. At every level there are a number of different villain groups available and yet how often have we seen a set of Radio/newspaper mission come up and all three choices are the exact same group? Taking Talos as an example make it so you get 1 Tsoo, 1 COT, and 1 Council then next time it may be 1 Freakshow, 1 Warrior and 1 Banished Pantheon. Spread it out so players get an opporunity to sample all the group or ignore the ones they simply hate battling.
[ QUOTE ]
4) Eliminate all exp gained from AEs and instead replace it with a form of 'build-up' experience bonus.
---> When you log out now, you gain a bonus to your exp gain. Have this bonus also be gained by doing AEs. There is a max cap you can hit for this, so while doing AEs can give you some good stuff via tickets and faster exp when you level, it makes it so people aren't creating missions for the sole reason to farm.
[/ QUOTE ]
Okay I am NOT a big fan of Farming but eliminating all XP from any MA Arc? No I can't see that. There are far too many good story tellers out there and eliminating EXP would mean less players, not looking for a farm but a good mission, from sampling those. Face facts MOST people here want to LEVEL and get whatever rewards they can along the way. As evidence of that look how much easier it became to find players willing to do TFs, Trials, and even battle Giant Monsters once the merit system went into effect. MA Arcs already don't offer up Recipes or Salvage only tickets so if you take away all EXP as well you just turned off the vast majority of players, farmers or not, from wanting to spend any considerable time doing them. -
I agree with what's been said already If the map is small and doesn't present any huge difficluty in locating mobs Defeat all would not be an issue for me in playing that particular mission. LOL I do find it amusing that POSI himself said "never" use kill all considering how may Defeat alls the devs have in game and let's see a show of hand how many of you have multiple experiences where it's even "Defeat Boss" and find him in the Layer Cake Cave meaning you get 5 layers of fun trying to find all the villains and hopefully not drop through some unseen hole on top of a mob that promptly wipes YOU out?
Definately avoid Kill all on most Outdoor maps especially the ones with no MINI .. I ran into one like that a while ago. The Recluse Victory Atlas Park map and a ton of Martial Arts ninjas. Half the time I wasn't sure where I was, had no idea where I'd already been and after about 10 minutes I simply quit the mission without finishing it. I didn't rate it but did send the writer some suggestions about finding a different map to use. His story wasn't bad and his characters were.. well a Ninja is a ninja but they were colorful and had neat names but THAT map spoiled it for me. -
What I normally do is use one slot of enhancement for an end reduction. I do this with any attack, toggle or whatever that seems to be the biggest end drain. That helps the situation until I hit 20 and can take Stamina at which point I simply go back to the store and replace those End Reduction enhancements with damage, heals, defense enhancers.. what ever the power requires.
I also carry a number of Catch a Breaths, Take a Breaths, or Second Winds to help out if the team I am on gets into a long battle and the end drops dramatically. This is possible becaue the SG I belong to (well run actually) has 8 inspiration bin and each now had 100 tier 3 inspirations available so find a good SG that can assist you.. I do love the merit system!
Depending on the character (AT) and what enemy we may be facing I also turn off certain toggles that drain end. On my WP/DM Tank if I was facing a villain group that was primarily all mellee I would simply shut off the toggle for ranged defenses. Against a group like say Council that combine ranged and mellee both need to stay active of course.
I also avoid using powers I KNOW tend to miss frequently and use a lot of end. I have several Vet reward attacks iincluding Sands of Mu .. does good damage when it hits but misses more often that it actually connects. Since Vet rewards are considered temps and can not be enhanced there is no way to increase the accuracy or lower the end drain so I only use that sparingly .. when I don't have any other power available.
I am a good soloist but enjoy teaming and at those levels finding a good team usually isn't that difficult and speeds the process toward hitting 20 and solving the problem completely. Also on teams while there are more critters to defeat there is also a lot more damage available and I don't need to attack and defeat everything myself so that helps save end as well... usually
Easiest way I know to resolve the problem.. Sewers to level 6 or 7, Radios in KR to levels 10 or 11, Positron TF followed by Synapse TF. With a good 7 or 8 man team that can get you to level 20 or 21 in a very short amount of time.. Problem sloved LOL -
LOL some of the words they filter are just plain silly. Add Pilgrim to the list. I was putting together a time travel arc and decided to use the Mentor Pilgrim as my story contact. When I got to the point where I had to NAME my contact and typed that in I got a "profanity" error message. Hey THEY created the character and named him so I guess it's okay for them to "SWEAR???" but I can't?
My only possible explanation for this is the a Pilgrim is considered a Holy Man and GOoDness knows we have to be politically correct and can't use anything that suggests the existance of ... well you know who. I solved my problem by switching the contact to Mentor Lazarus but it still almost hysterical that they even banned me from using the name of a character they placed in the game themselves. LOL -
Since I almost always tend to agree with what Bill says and agree with him here as well I have to ask. Did you actually read his post or just get upset because he didn't agree with you immediately. I have made jokes in game about being tired of running and wanting a batmobile but they were JOKES. The dynamics of the game simply are not set up to make your idea a reality. Now inside a mission I tend to stay on the ground but I know a number of players, with fewer hit points, that like to hover above the battle and deal damage while hopefully staying out of melee range. How do they do that in a car? How does the car make it around tight corners in cave, or hallways? As mentioned how does it get across large bodies of water. Hey they haven't even come up with a way to let us walk instead of running everywhere and you want them to completely redesign the game for vehicles?
Unless you are a computer genius and and want to go spend a year working for NC Soft and completely redoing the game... Forget about cars and try taking honest sincere criticism instead of lashing out at someone that gave you an informed and good answer as to why it can't happen -
She's a shy girl and her boyfriend is very jealous so she simply doesn't like to give it out.
Anyway.. agreed but somehow I doubt it will change. Interesting though you do the Percy arc on Croatoa for the "Origins of Power" badge and after 1 talk to mission he gives you his number. She won't give up her's even after completing two different mission arcs.

I have the magic pack and know a number of others that do as well. Don't recall the sound effect being constant. MY question is ... are those of you that have stated you refuse BUFFS so powerful you don't need them? Hey anything that makes me stronger, faster or better I want. I can always turn down the sound if its annoying.
I did the Numina TF recently and between my Ill/Emp and a second /Emp controller with the same magic pack we buffed the entire team and breezed through missions. They don't last long but anything that buffs an aspect of the game is IMO a good thing. Do any of you refuse Fortitude? Clear Mind? Regen or Recovery Auras? Granted you can't decline those but if a Controller or Defender isn't constantly hitting you with those as a team leader just how long do you wait before kicking them from the team and looking for a better one?
Geez guys its a buff... turn down the sound turn up the music and enjoy the added bonus LOL -

The 5th Column are one of the few enemy groups that are 1-54. Using a group like this is one of the only ways to make a mission playable to ALL levels.
That's why it's important to make all enemy groups (1-54). If you do that, you will see some truly amazing arcs.

... some, yes. All... not so much. Why would, for instance, a basic street gang (Skulls) be level 54?
Besides, right now it allows us to know something's going to be a lowbie arc.

54 level Skulls Hmmmm? At that point since they have moved up in the world of crime would their girlfriends expect more than a movie and a trip to the Fast Food court? lol
AgreedBut then I always seem to agree with Bill LOL Also keep in mind that even arcs that are say level 40-54 can be played by lower levels.. you are simply automatically Sked (so to speak) to the same level as the enemies you face. Now a 5 level with 4 powers may NOT want to face a level 54 AV but I did this with a 29 level and did just fine.
Also arc that stop at 20 or whatever due to the enemy involved automatically exemplar you down to that level. So realistically there isn't a single mission arc out there that almost anyone can't try.
