Confuse automatically means you get no XP for any character the confused enemy defeats. TRUE if I sit back and just watch them work doing nothing any of their buddies they defeat don't give me credit but I don't just confuse 1 villain I confuse 3, 4, or more and each gets hit with either spectral wounds of blind. As soon as I do even just that small amount of damage those villains can pound each other into the ground and I get full XP, INF, and prestige for each.
Heck half the time, in spite of you telling the team attack the ones with purple glowing around their head last.. they kill them off before they can defeat anything anyway. AT one point on teams I just stopped using confuse at all now I use it and just consider it a buff. If I have 5 minions running around pounding on their own kind it's 5 less doing damage to my team no matter how short a period of time it is before they defeat them all. LOL
Oh and I have had team leaders, using that NO XP excuse, specifically tell me NOT to confuse anything. I say sure and then confuse anyway LOL They never know the differenece. -
Okay first Zookeeper is already part of another accolade and I have never seen them use the same badge for anything else twice so that needs to be omitted or replaced.
Second you are assuming I, or any number of other players, want to spend our Vangaurd merits on the costume. I have it on one character and after trying it on hated the look and never used another merit again to buy a single piece. I use mine to buy HVACs, PSI Bombs, and of course unlockable items like shields, swords, rifles, ect. Plus we are awarding a badge for BUYING an outfit? How about we just change that to acquiring X amount of Vanguard Merits PERIOD. How I spend them to get ready is my business.
Third I see where you are going with the badge after completing Dark Watcher's arc.. a badge for completing all of the story arcs in the zone. Nice but again it doesn't happen anywhere else. I have a multitude of characters that have done all the arcs in Croatoa, numerous ones that have done the same with the arcs in Striga. Just like DWs this allows the player to open a select TF... Katie Hannon in Croatoa, Hess in Striga and the Lady Grey in the RWZ. Since the Devs never saw fit to award me an accolade in Croatoa or Striga I seriously doubt they will do so in the RWZ either.
I'm not saying it's a bad idea and it would certainly be better than some of the all but useless stuff we get from some accolades (The Crey pistol doesn't even work well against certain villain minions let alone a lieutenant, Boss, EB or AV). And of course we have numerous Accolades that award nothing at all and many players don't even bother trying to earn them anymore .. {2 seperate accolades for doing Safeguards and neither grants the player a thing but another badge}.
I think its a good idea but you need to rework the requirements and from all I stated above I would not get my hopes up on seeing it actually happen. -
Can we carry this one step further and say "Don't just assume a potential new team mate wants to do AE missions at all .. Farms or not!" This happened to me enough that I now ASK what type of missions before I even consider joining a team.
The worst was a while ago and the team leader sent a tell asking of I wanted to team. I was about a bar and a half from my next level and teaming meant that would happen much quicker so I said yes. When I joined the team, in PI, I discovered I was the only team member in the zone so I asked .. "Where to?" The answer was Founders Falls which led me to believe it was a contact mission since most of the farms, etc, were happening in Atlas Park or Talos. Well I arrived and as I did noticed my mini map turn into the all too familiar Mission Archetect. Plus everyone on the team, aside from 2 others still zoning, was in the AE building. About that time another member zoned and made the comment "Guess we are doing an AE mission." He had not been informed either.
Well XP is XP and I figured if it was a farm or out and out horrible I could always just quit. The mission was on the Reclusive Victory map of Atlas... the one that provides no mini map so you have no idea where you have already been or even where your team mates are if by chance you get seperated. Technically it wasn't a farm and the entire villain group consisted of Void Stalker minions and lieutenants. Now the frustrating part begins as the mission called for us to find and release 12 custom build hostages scattered throughout the map. Not an easy task but they did glow so it wasn't completely terrible. After each release, and none of the hostages was an ally, there was an ambush and at some point the team got split up. Numerous deaths occurred at that point and with NO mini map it was impossible to find the downed team mate to attempt rez. So they had to go to the hospital and of course on returning had NO idea where the rest of the team was located.
Well we finally finished this nightmare and I am contemplating a 2 star with some comments about picking a better map. As soon as we got back out of the mission the team leader is gone.. quit the team without a word. My best guess at that point was that was HIS mission and he was basically tricking players into running it to get the number of players completing said mission up for a badge. Since we'd already completed it he bolted without a word of good bye or a word of thanks. Based on that alone I gave the story zero stars, quit the team and went back to soloing.
Now nothing that bad has occurred since but I still get tells and even blind invites to teams and once I join discover I am now on some sort of AE mission. Don't get me wrong I like the AE and my friends and I have even had group nights where we ran our own content and then ran contant we'd discovered that was written by someone else that we'd tried previously solo and liked.. But I do not spend every minute in game in the AE building. I still run TFs, I still do contact missions, and I still do Radios and Safeguards.
So I think the least a team leader could do is actually inform a potential member of what type of missions they are saying yes to in advance. It isn't polite at all not to do so. It's assuming all I want to do is Farm or run AE arcs and I don't stand for it anymore. If I join a team and the leader did NOT tell me in advance it was AE .. I quit the team and move on. It's bad enough we have players out there that think this game is nothing but a huge PL farm now we have leaders that just automatically assume everyone wants to farm AE missions just because they do.
There have always been a few rude and obnoxious players around but AE seems to have brought out the worst in some people. I actually asked a team leader a few days ago what sort of missions we'd be doing and he informed me it was radios and then asked why. I didn't go into THIS much detail but let him know why and then joined the team. -

playing a dual blade scrapper . I want to solo my whole life away. I was thinking about regen since it has so little down time but can you really solo with it at later lvls? would SR be better i see people talking about it all the time.
[/ QUOTE ]
What's your budget? If you've got the money to spend on set IOs, */SR can be a true beast (though it's going to hurt getting to your 30s and the soft cap). If you don't, */wp and */regen both perform admirably. */Regen is going to have a better start though will hurt your DPS a bit simply because of redraw and clickie activation. */WP is going to start a bit slowed but is pretty dangerous. Neither are going to be top performers in the end game, but they'll both do the job adequately.
[/ QUOTE ]
Agree I have played both a /regen and a /wp scrapper to 50. I don't solo exclusively but had no difficulty soloing with either secondary all the way to 50. As stated Regen has the edge in the lower game but WP is as good or better in the later game. Oh and with both I am talking nothing but SOs not IO sets. -
hehehe So am I why do you think I am hunting coffee LOL Morning all
*sips her French Vanilla blend with double cream and Splenda and wonders if there are any doughnuts* -
While I agree bases could use some more love and anything they want to give me over what I have now I will take. But they are by no means useless...
1. My base offers Time Travel through my control room (no idea that has to go in there but it does). Okay anyone with a Ouro Portal can simply go to Ouroborus and time travel but by getting that mission, especially a timed badge mission like say Negotiator, at the base instead of being transported to the contact who may be in another city zone entirely the SG members can teleport to the zone the mission is in and save themselves some zoning and some time to actually complete the mission.
2. Teleport. Sure we now have the Ouro portal that drops us in several zones and usually in very convenient locations so we can easily hit the train. You can add the Midnighter Club which allows access from Steel to Croatoa to Founders Falls. Many folks now even have the Mission Teleporter which allows you to arrive right at the door of the mission (although that can only be used once every 90 minute to 2 hours I believe) but an SG that has all 22 beacons and teleport to every one of those zones increases the speed with which a hero can get from one place to another which comes in very handy when on a long Task Force or if you happen to be a casual player that only has X amount of hours a week to try and level. I use all those systems to get where I need to as fast as possible and the one that gets used the most because it gets me anywhere is the base.
3. Infirmary. Okay I arrive still practically dead but at my bases, and PLENTY of others, I now have access to an AUTO DOC and/or a series of Inspiration collectors that allow me, EVEN on a TF or Trial, to replace any inspirations I used up before I needed a trip to the hospital. Once again this offers any SG member a huge advantage in leveling.
4. Crafting and IO storage Yes these exsit outside of bases but at select locations. If an SG has an IO Vault and an IO workstation any member can quickly be at a vault and a crafting table from any zone in the game.
5. Social Events Okay my SG is not big on Role Play.. not opposed to it but we don't have to be "in character" 100% of the time we are on line. And OMG we exist on Virtue .. I am so ashamed LOL But bases when decorated well provide all sorts of environments for RPer. Heck my bases have a disco, a pool (with bar) Sleeping quarters, a dining facility, a training area (that includes a small rifle range, Boxing/MA ring, and an obstacle course), A mages den (for studying spells and crafting potions), a small garden, a hanger with aircraft (thanks to vet rewards), a library, and even a smoker's lounge or more accurately a trophy room with a bar (non alcoholic beverages only of course LOL). Many HUGE SGs actually have parties in their bases and invite as many players as they can get on 8 man teams to join them there.
Can any player exist and survive without belonging to an SG at all? Sure they can and do but saying bases are useless denies all that I just listed above. Yes a player can level without any of it but it goes a little faster and easier IF the SG base has any or all of the features I mentioned.
Now GIVE ME
1. The ability to buy DO/SO in base.. a small store of our very own (Yeah I know never going to happen)
2. Access to the Mission Archetect so my members can go there and at least create missions in relative peace and quiet (sort of doubt that one will ever happen either)
3. Access directly to the Midnighter Club through a special portal or whatever. At present if I am in PI with one of my 50 levels and want to join an ITF I need to hit my base, teleport to Steel, FF, or Croatoa, then get to the club before I can access the portal there to get to Cimerora. I am NOT asking for a Cimerora beacon just a way to get any SG member that belongs to the Midnighters to the club without multiple Zonings.
As for base raids.. I never quite understood that whole mentality other than another way to PvP. IF heroes could invade villain bases I could see that or vis versa. I can even see two rival villain groups attacking one another but I never quite got the mentality that justified two hero groups raiding one another and stealing or destroying the other groups stuff. Sure in comic books some hereos don't get along well with other heroes but here the same two groups that attack one another could be on a task force together an hour later. If we are all fighting for justice and battling evil why are we trying to destroy one another?
I'll be honest even if they EVER get that feature fixed I will never make my bases raid ready. I spent too many hours collecting the prestige needed to buy and build what we have to allow someone to come in and damage, destroy or take it..and then I Have to spend more prestige to make it all look the same way again? Sorry I don't want to play. Give me a TF like Silver Mantis (COV) side that members of MY SG, along with anyone else we invite to team, can do from the base.. sure that's more content I'd go for that. -
Agreed Bats couldn't last a minute against the likes of Superman BUT then he doesn't face villains with that sort of super power often either does he? Joker, the Riddler, Two-Face, even Penquin are all pretty much deranged normal human beings with lots of Normal Human being henchmen... Masterminds if you will.
Can a trained Martial arts expert take on and defeat 7 or 8 opponents fairly easily and fairly quickly? Yes and in Batman Begins we see that Bruce Wayne does spend a considerable amount of time learning just those skill sets.
Is he stealthy? Heck yes and I'll even give you the Stalker mentality because he does possess gadgets and abilities that allow him to remain hidden until he is set to strike. One of the thing I always enjoyed about Batman, over Superman, was he is a planner, a strategist .. he does stalk his opponent to gather intelligence and decide the best way to go about defeating them. But as mentioned he also had no problem in Batman Begins in dropping down into the middle of a pile of henchmen and rendering them all unconscious with his MA abilities.
Actually I now view the current version of Stalkers we have as slightly less powerful scrappers with the ability to be stealth. I played them years ago before they got love and the basic tactic was Assasin Strike..and run like crazy cause your other attacks were so weak and you had just about the worst Hit points in game. When I soloed I knew exactly where the elevators or doors were so I could AS one member of a mob and run to the next floor.. wait .. then go down and use AS again. If I tried to stand and fight I'd end in hospital half the time (especially when my inspirations ran out). Now when I solo I'll use AS to cut the mob size and then stand face to face and beat what's left with very few problems.
I agree he uses stalker tactics to take out the hordes of minions.. when its one against say 30? 50? who wouldn't (Superman aside). But while he may sneak up and try to suprise the likes of the Joker or Two-Face how often have we seen him simply sneak up and knock them out ? Nope prefers to face the boss and battle it out man to man, fist to fist even when he has to know there is the very real possibility its a potential trap and more henchmen may be lurking to assist their deranged boss.
That LOL Is scrapperlock and since I have had it quite often I know what it looks like. But again very few heroes fit perfectly into any of the COH molds.. Batman is a Scrapper/Stalker/ with Blaster Devices.
Hmmmm Come to think of it ever checked out some of the builds the Devs have and wondered "Hey how'd he get that power? Its not from that powerset!" Batman is a DEV! lol -

Anyways I'm against this, I'm sure recipe prices would go up because lack of supply.
[/ QUOTE ]
And I call that a load of BS. Why?
I already store recipes in Wentworths/BM, or on my higher level characters. Or make them and throw them in my various SGs "IO Hold" bins. I know many, many others who do the same thing. It's roughly as common as breathing.
It's *already happening,* and has been since inventions came in. Removing the 60 day limit from the consignment house made it even easier.
And "Enhancement hogging?" Really? So actually doing things like, oh, crafting a bunch of lvl 15-20 Acc, Damage, and END reduciton IOs for the lowbies in the SG is a bad thing? I don't think so. Guess where they go? Hasn't seemed to hurt the market so far. Heck, I've been throwing SOs and DOs in bins since we had them to help out lowbies.
[/ QUOTE ]
What Bill said
I do exactly the same thing and not just with IO enhancements. I absolutely love the merit system and both my SGs now have 8 inspiration collectors with nothing but 100 tier 3 inspirations inside (one for every generic type). I also maintain enhancement bins with 20, 30, 40 and 50 level IOs as I can craft them for any member to use to increase their ability to play the game. Prior to IOs I did this same thing with low level TOs to assist new players. TRying to stock every type of DO or SO was impossible or course and even all the TOs would have been hard but I used to keep a supply of Damage, Accuracy, Heals, Runs, Fly, Recharge, End reduction and End Mods.. the one's the majority of all ATs could and did use. And I know plenty of other SGs that do exactly the same and have for years.
Market seems to be holding up okay, depending on who you talk to, so I don't see the issue.
Frankly I like this idea. I've had plenty of times where I had a recipe I'd have loved to have saved somehow for later use but had no where left to keep it and no one on line I could transfer it to so it ended up sold. To me this actually makes sense if I can store the raw materials why shouldn't I have a Library of sorts where I can store recipes for later reference? -
MY personal favorite...
I Need a Hero
Bonnie Tyler
"He's got to be quick, and he's got to be strong, and he's got to be up to the fight!"
I started on Infinity and listened to Split Infinity Radio frequently. THAT song was playing the first time my MA/Regen Scrapper ever took on Jurassik and it just fit the whole situation at that moment perfectly. I'm on Virtue now and listen to the Cape .. I have, on occasion, requested it just to relive old and great memories. -
As stated very few comic book heroes fit nicely into the COH 5 main AT. If I had to pick anything at all to describe Batman I'd say he was an MA Scrapper with a Devices secondary from the Blaster pool. Let's face it in the comics and movies he's beaten as many villains with the multitude of toys in that utility belt as he has with sheer force. As to his "Stalker" tendancies that's more his tacical approach than his AT. Does he normally burst into a room and just start pounding on everyone? NO But unlike the Stalkers we have here he does not possess the ability to be invisible and sneak up on a foe delivering one crushing attack that defeats them either. That same tactic could easily be used by a tank, even here in game, that managed to move in behind a villain and deliver its strongest attack before said villain was aware it was a target. At that point it might take another blow or two before the villain was lights out but it would be reeling, disoriented and easy prey.
Very few classic comic book heroes mirror anything we play here exactly. Probably the closest, based on the films, would be Wolverine.. as a Claws/Regen Scrapper. CLAWS .. well duh that's obvious and from the movie Origins we can see that he even possess the ability to self rez after taking a bullet to the brain with the only mild after affect being a loss of memory.
The Hulk and Ben Grimm, along with Superman, fall into the classic Tanker role fairly well.. ton of health, able to take incredible amounts of damage and while they MAY be a little slower that some have devastating attacks that deal a ton of damage.
Sue Storm.. A Controller with Superior Invisibility and her brother Johnny is obviously a Fire Blaster... BUt okay now what catergory do you possibly put Reed Richards in? Last I checked we had no AT and no powerset that allowed anyone to stretch to any shape or size.
A Stalker, by COX definition, is a villain AT and while Batman has been known to be wanted at times by the Police he is certainly not a villain. A vigilante... yes which means he is operating outside the cut and dried definition of the law. But that is no agrument for making him a Villain AT since a vast majority of super heroes do exactly the same. Hense the whole secret identity theme we see in almost every comic. Many, Batman included, maintain their secrets as much to protect themselves from arrest as to protect loved ones. Heck even Spiderman, whiled loved by most including the Police, is considered a criminal by his own boss and frequent articles in the paper try to expose him as such. -
S pectoral A pparition L ifeforce S ustainment A pparatus - SALSA
sort of off the top of my head but it describes what you described and forms a very tasty word LOL
-
I have this on every SD character I own. I like to team, including PUGs, so it just makes sense... Why wouldn't I take a power that helps the Tanker and any other Scrappers on the team stay alive and continue to help me pound on things? If a scrapper spent the majority of playing time solo I could understand it. but with dual builds you can set up a solo and a team build.
Ahhhh well one thing I did discover is that your experience with SD scrappers is NOT the only example of players that place no regard on team mates. I was playing one of my blasters the other day on a PUG with a Kin. Now my blasters all have a serious addiction to SB so the Tank on our team and I were quite happy until the Kin announced.
"I don't have SB. I does nothing of rme so why bother?" Fire Imps aside one of the reasons Kins are so popular is SB and this guy doesn't take it because it doesn't help HIM? Okay we are on the ITF facing Romulus and I'm the STONE tanker now. "Oh gee sorry guys I didn't bother taking taunt since it doesn't help me. Opps sorry Mr. /Kin looks like the healing nictus fust faceplanted you again." There are certain powers out there that just sort of scream out... YOU MUST TAKE ME! While Grant Cover hardly fits into that category not taking it if you like to team just seems wrong. I bet that same guy had no problem taking Phallanx Fighting did he? So it's okay for HIM to get a bonus to his defense off team mates but he can't be bothered to return the favor? *sigh* -

Yes but I like LARGE teams with plenty of XP to be had by my lower level characters who also happen to have a full circle PLUS of patrol XP and until it runs out the seasoned law enforcer XP bonus.
Hehehe
I did Posi early this week with a 37 level Blaster on an 8 man team. No stealth/tper so we ground through each mission and still managed to compete in 4 hours and 5 minutes. Good team Good time.
Let's see I HAVE successfully completed 1 STF and FAILED one MoSTF with one failed regular STF as well to my credit. The latest, and the failed normal STF, was just this Sunday with a group of friends .. we did fine until we hit Lord Recluse and then just could NOT keep the tank alive long enough to take down the towers. Still enjoyed spending time with good friends and hey whats a few hundred thousand points of debt when you are a 50 level?
I love that additonal requirements Steel
What me? I'm not a sadist... I've run, in one day mind you, A Positron, followed by a Synapse, followed by a Sister Psyche TF on the same character. Went from level 11 to level 26 on a lazy Saturday with little else to do. I'm no sadist I am a masochist LOL -
I am currently leveling a DM/SD Scrapper and she's at level 44. I took body mastery as my epic for Focused Accuracy and I think I created a killing machine. It's very rare that she ever misses a target and with attacks that enhance End and Hit Points by sapping HP from the enemy she's awesome.
Realistically though everyone is right.... Name the powersets and you have a boss killer. -

I only think something is a grind if I don't enjoy doing it.
[/ QUOTE ]
I so agree with this statement. Many here complain that they hate the lower levels because its the same thing over and over and it takes so long to get to the "GOOD" stuff. Frankly I don't see that at all. There are far too many ways to level these days and anyone that does the exact same content repeatedly with every alt they create is doing so by their own choice. Come out of Outbreak at level 2 and you can..
Hit your assigned contact and do door missions
Find a sewer teams and level quickly that way
Head to the AE building and do nothing but brand new player created mission
Okay now you levl 5, 6 whatever..
Head to the Hollows and run arc there
Do missions from the contacts assigned to you
Do nothing BUT radio missions and get your raptor pack
Now you have hit around level 10...
Again do missions from normal contacts
Again do radios and gain your jump pack
Do the Midnighter club arc and get it out of the way
Do the Positron TF followed by the Synapse and avoid all of that other stuff since you have now hit around 20 level.
At this point you now have numerous options..
Contact mission again
Radio missions again
Sister Psyche TF
Head to Striga and avoid Talos and IP for quite a while by doing contact mission there
newly adde head to the midnighter club and do missions from there
At 25 add in Croatoa and don't forget as you continue up in levels you now have the Moonfire TF, Hess TF and the Citadel TF to help get you to 30
Oh I almost forgot.. At 20 add in your cape and costume missions so you can take a little time and enhance your character;s apearance.
Now let's add in the events... which can be played at any level. Halloween ToTing and battling Eochia and Jack in Iron (when you can actually find the latter). Valentine [Spring Event} and you can run missions out of Pocket D facing Snaptooth and the Redcaps. Winter event again in the Chalet portion of Pocket D and you face Tautha, Redcaps and Snaptooth once again. How many have gained considerable levels doing these? Now let's throw in Rikti Invasions and Zombie Invasions with offer up added badges (and one pretty good accolade)
We have only gotten as high as level 30 but already we've seem quite a bit of diverse playing we CAN do if we want it. And I haven't even mentioned the first respec trial yet (opps just did LOL)
Between 30 and 40 we have added TFs in Manticore and Numina along with the Eden Trial. at 35 we can now get into both the RWZ and Cimerora for even more content and eventually an additional 2 Task Forces. Oh and now we also have Ouroborus so we can go back and pick up any content we missed, badges we missed, and run even more new content including short TFs out of there.
All of this has occurred before level 40 and arriving on Peregrin Island where supposedly the game gets "INTERESTING". And yet until the whole MEOW Farm fiasco occurred with the addition of the AE buildings this is also where most of the farming and PLing occurred.
There are far too many ways to play this game for it to ever be truly a grind and it always struck me as funny that older players complained about not wanting to do the GRIND of lower levels so they farmed or PLed to get to the higher ones but as soon as some arrived there .. their idea of FUN {?} was to do the same mission over and over on an 8 man team to see how fast they could get to 50.. and then complain.. "I'm a 50 level now there is nothing left for me to do." lol Its only a grind if you let it become one...its a game HAVE FUN -
[ QUOTE ]
Exploration and history badges basically ARE your zone-based badges.
As to the grindiness of badges, here's my take. If a toon can reasonably earn the badge naturally en route from 1 to 50, I won't complain about it. However, most badgers are already level 50 on the toons they actually care about getting all the badges on, and they have no reason to naturally earn them naturally on those toons. Which means they are just going to be expedient about things and farm them as quickly as possible.
Frankly, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I didn't object to most of the MA badges because I thought they were reasonable. Things like some of the virtual badges were way out of line, however, as were the play 250 HOF and 100 DC arc badges (do any toons even play 350 separate story arcs from 1 to 50?). Also, the voting badges were problematic from the beginning. But in general, count badges are fine, so long as the count is reasonable. All to often, however, it is ridiculously out of proportion to the content. This is especially annoying for badges that are precursors to accolades (for example, Illusionist for heroes and Gangbuster for villains).
[/ QUOTE ]
You missed one or two Ghosts in Croatoa .. with a total of 2 door missions that actually have ghosts getting 333 almost always requires either an very long hunt or farming. Fake Nemesis .. Unless you are on a fairly large sized team there just are not enough of these to not end up getting together a group and hunting/farming them if someone has a mission with any number of them in it.
I've suggested several times here on the forums that one way to solve the last is either go to Crey's Folly or Eden and replace all of the Warhulks that roam there with Fake Nemesis. At least that would give badge hunters somewhere other than the Shadow Shard to hunt for them.
As for the ghosts of Croatoa short of adding an additional contact who would give mostly missions revolving around ghosts the only way I see to make that easier would be to reduce the number required. Every villain group there requires 333 for a badge. Gordon Bower and the Skippers mission revolve around Fir Bolg and some Tautha. Kelly's revolve around Tautha and Cabal and Bucks give you plenty of opportunity to tackle Red Caps. No one gives you a lot of missions involving ghosts so what DEV decided we needed the same number of ghosts as the other groups? Heck you can even get most of the Cabal and a good number of the Red Caps by doing the KHTF and we see Red Caps and Tautha again during the Winter event and Red Caps again during the Valentine event. They made it pretty easy to get all the other and then all but forced us to farm/hunt Ghost if we want to try for the accolade. -
Hehehe Heck I hae found myslef twitching a bit after completing the normal Posi. Four hours is NOT a bad time at all for that. I did one early this week with a 37 level blaster, the last one she needed for the TF Commander, and we managed 4 hours and 5 minutes without a stealth/Tper. Awesome team.
I have a lot of characters and would love to have TF Commander on all of them for the boost.. did a quick survey to see who needed what. I had 15 characters between 45 and 25 and of those 12 still needed the Positron TF. OMG I need to run it THAT many times! *twitches nervously*
The reason for this horrid situation? 1) like most players it is not my favorite TF and I usually have to force myself to join one. 2) Because it isn't popular finding anyone doing it or willing to IF you try to start one can be a tough. 3) I tend to like to do TFs when they still give me the benefit of XP even if I max out at some point and stop getting it .. and since its so easy to outlevel the Posi without doing it once I slip past it I find it hard to go back after it. 4) OMG the things you give up.. okay if I take a 30 level back to get it at least she has a permanent travel power but stamina is gone and I find myself sucking blue inspirations like crazy. Something I always enjoy NOT having to do after I hit 20 level and get stamina to begin with.
So let's see it's long, it's all over the place at a time when many don't have any travel power other than a raptor pack, and you get to battle some of the favorite villian groups in game ( LOL yeah everyone just loves the Vahz and COT sooo much). Is it any wonder I throw things at Positron every time I get near him in Steel Canyon? -

I was actually in a group the other night where we went out of our way to ONLY invite masterminds. It started as a joke, since the group initially was 4 masterminds, 2 VEATs, a brute and a corruptor, and someone said "Clearly we don't have enough masterminds."
When one of the non-MMs dropped, we started piping up with "Invite another mastermind!"
As people slowly dropped due to having to go, getting disconnected, etc, we made sure to only invite more masterminds. Eventually we had a full team of 8 masterminds. It was hilarious. Mobs were dying so fast that we could move through the mission at a non-stop run. The only thing that slowed us down was a mayhem, where people split up and got chewed up by the massed longbow ambushes.

LOL!!,..must have been like the Keystone Cops. Funny Stuff. In keeping with that Keystone Cop theme, I appropriately named my three little Battle Drones Moe, Larry and Curly as they seem to constantly get into trouble and mischief...lol.

Its been a long time since I played COV on a regular basis but most of my characters were MMs. One of my favorite moments was on test when the THUGs MM was being prepared for live. We had a team of nothing but Thug MMs and about the only thing that slowed us down at times was there were so many pets they actually got in the way and made it hard for us to move forward.. with them following. When we all got gang war it was like watching a train wreck everything in our path dropped so fast.
I do know that certain leaders have expressed impatience, especially at higher levels, waiting for the MMs to summon all the pets and then equip and enhance them. I actually got to the point where I'd summon and do the rest on the fly as we moved along. Frankly that always struck me as odd considering the benefits fully enhanced set of pets offered. There was also an issue with the pets having a mind of their own if the MM wasn't really good at controlling them and they'd aggro mobs before everyone was ready.. But that same thing can happen on COH with Controller pets and a good MM or Controller learns to keep it from occurring.
The nice thing is MM are very soloable and I have even done Mayhems where I did all the sides destroyed every object and defeated every NPC on the map and left with a LOT of time left on the clock. Still I enjoy teaming and the lack of team invites due to misconceptions could be annoying. But as long as you are enjoying yourself have fun -
Introducing the latest addition to COH the Master of Positron TF. Similar to the Master of Statesman TF there are some specific details that must be met in order to earn the MoPTF:
1. Players may not use any temp powers during the TF to enhance their abilities. This will include Raptor Packs, Jump Packs, Lunches packed by you mom or anything else that may hasten the TF along.
2. Players will not only NOT use travel powers but MUST go into the pigg files and create a way to WALK to every mission.. running is simply not allowed it would get you there much too fast.
3. Even if a 50 level has joined the TF as an exemplar raising the level of the villains to the maximum no one will be allowed to SK during the TF and must struggle along at level 10 or 11 unable to hit anything and dying frequently since even the minion's pet cat cons purple in every mission.
4. Once it is decided this is an official attempt to gain the MoPTF all IO enhancements slotted will be auto exempted down to Training Origin status.
5. Despite the new average time for competiion of 8 to 10 hours players may NOT take bio breaks and must be active in every mission from begining to end or the quest fails. Devs will be assigned to monitor team chat and will hit the TF Failed button if the phrase BRB BIO is uttered.
6. Once the MoPTF selection button is pressed all mission will automatically be moved into purple caves .. that one with the 5 layer cakes portion that has all the holes you can fall through and drop onto a waiting mob of villains.. Note every hole in every cave will automatically have a double sized mob spawn below it.
6. Minimum team size will be artificially increased to 9 players and if anyone dc's or logs off the TF can not continue until they are back.
7. Unlike the normal PTF the last mission in a MoPTF will have AVs. In fact all of the current bosses and EB found in the normal TF will spawn as AVs even when they are found in as big a group a 3 or 4 in the same spot.
Players that successfully complete the MoPTF will get a shiny new badge and several years or mental health care at a reduced rate. We hope you enjoy this new addition to one of the favorite Task forces in the game.. Have fun and try not to scream so loud it wakes the neighbors. LOL
I dedicate this post to anyone that has tried repeatedly to accomplish the MoSTF with less than favorable results and to anyone that has actually lived through a succesful one and still has their sanity. -
I like this idea. First of it does allow you to go at your own pace and play the way YOU want to rather than the way an entire team does. Be that speeding through just to get the badge or grinding it out making every mission a defeat all becasue they want the XP. Solo you can run the TF however you please and don't need to compromise to make the other team members happy. Second it solves one of the ongoing problems we all face .. I want to do this TF but can't find anyone else that wants to do it with me.
Would the TF still award the badge at the end if soloed? I think it should simply because of the time and effort a solo player would put in to accomplish it. The rewards might need to be amended since they are usually based on the difficulty and time involved for whatever sized team is required but I could live with that.. les XP/INF bonus at the end and less merits (hey as already mentioned I'd be happy with no merits if I could solo instead of waiting on 3, 4 or more players to join a team so we can do one). -

No no This is an open letter: C <----- Note the open side here we see on the letter C that allows us to snuggle inside and nap comfortably.
Wait! there is pie? What kind and is there ice cream as well? Can I have Vanilla ice cream with my pie? Please Oh Please Mom Can I? LOL
Since the horrifying nerf of AE missions people have actually gone back to doing Task Forces and Trials to earn fast XP. GASP (I know I have done Positron, Numina, and Citadel this week alone) DOOOOOOM Was that the proper number of Os? I think so it is 6. -
OH MY GOODNESS this explains so much! Now I know why they can just casually shove me aside as they walk aimlessly around in circles.. they are actually stronger than I am. LOL Tell you what that guy that pretends to be a bum and sleeps at the entrance to the old Dance club in Talos is an amazing actor .. He really does look and act like a bum and here all the time as soon as I am out of sight he's pounding on Freakshow and Tsoo. This also explains why that old lady in Atlas who is having her purse snatched can hang onto it so long until I show up to "save" the day? Bet as soon as I round the corner she whips that Hellion around by the purse straps and pounds him silly on the sidewalk. hmmm must set up hidden camera in Atlas to record this and send it to World's Funniest Videos.
/heartily signs approval to this revealing discovery and will never bother helping a civillian again. -
Since the only way to earn it is to run a Katie Hannon TF and that does NOT exist COV side .. I'd say the answer is no. Realistically though I don't think you are missing much. I have earned that hat on numerous characters and not one wears it. My reason .. I don't like being BALD! If the dang thing had hair I MIGHT actually consider it but the only witches hat the sports hair is the one you get if you buy the Magic Pack. Now maybe the guys playing female characters don;t care but I am not shaving my head just so I can wear a pointy hat. lol
