[Broadcast] <player name 3>: Chuck Norris makes 80m per run
LoL
[/ QUOTE ]
And nobody even needs to enter the mish. He just stares at the contact until the "Mission Complete" message comes up and he's given inf and tickets for all the critters in the mish.
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah but they failed to mention that shortly afterwards Blue Steel arrived, Kick Norris's butt and simply by looking at the AE building everyone in the zone automatically got 100 Million in Influence, a full set of IOs, and Black Scorpion showed up in a cute maid's outfit to serve cookies and milk. LOL
Oh I almost forgot to mention everyone was auto leveled to 50 and all the IO were very rare purples -
"Where is Steel Canyon? Someone told me I can get another outfit if I go there. Oh and here is the costume shop at when I get there?' <----- 50 Level Controller in the AE building at the time.
I was there helping a friend test her new arc. I didn't check the build but I probably would have either died laughing or from embarassment that someone so messed up was playing my favorite AT. LOL
50 levels and he's JUST going after Costume slot # 2. I wonder how long it was before he found out he could get at least 2 more? -

Because long drawn out fights with Bosses and EBs isn't boring? Challenge through annoyance isn't good game design.

It isn't? Hmmm I did the new Hero TF on test and spent an hour taunting and pounding on Reichman. The only disappointment for me was his Unstoppable power (which I certainly hope they listen to all of us and fix before live) made it impossible to defeat him. Then again I had his attention and the majority of his damage output and I didn't DIE either. STALEMATE .. Catch you again soon and I am sure the results will be different!
I solo quite a few of the Preatorans as EBs with my tanks and I could care less if it take 5 minutes or 20 when it's over I just took out a villain boss solo that some 8 man teams face plant trying to handle. How is that NOT fun? lol
I have dual builds on most of my tanks so I have a team build heavier on Defense and anything that helps hold aggro or helps the team. My solo build goes heavier on Damage output and concentrates on defenses that keep ME alive since there is no one else to worry about. Those build usually do not include taunt since my very presence is the taunt. This allows me to take attacks soon, slot them heavier and do quite nicely thanks.
Why do I Luv my Tank..
I stand face to face with Lusca, wiggle a finger at her and say come get this. I smile at Paragon Protectors that hit MoG and say Hey I can wait I have ALL day. I just feel so much love when 15 or so villains are crowded around me.. you like me YOU REALLY like me! LOL Infernal won't return my calls anymore because I have helped beat him so much. Maurader has a poster of me on HIS wall. No other AT, and I do play them all, can take so much and just stand there grinning and asking for more. As for damage ... Try slotting for it. A Blaster or Scrapper may do more DPS but my attacks hit harder and since I have been the TANK still standing and doing damage long after the rest of the team face planted, and been the one on the floor watching some one else's Tank do the same, I'd say I do my share on any team I am on.Now if I could just get the Blasters or Scrappers that aggroe 2-3 mobs instead of letting me aggro one to start with we wouldn't have this SITUATION would we? *giggles*
-
Dead? Heck no I can get an invite to a Task Force almost every day and with 30+ characters I am trying to get them on I do at least 1 a day and sometimes 2. Almost all are PUGs and I have been on some really good ones lately ..
Posi without Stealth TP 3 hours 15 minutes
Citadel without Stealth ... 1 hour 12 Minutes
Manticore with Stealth .. 1 Hour 25 minues
And those were all just this past week not to mention others I did with average times.
The rumor that the basic PUG is dead is also false.. Been on quite a few between TFs and have had pretty good luck.. no really bad ones and a few excellent ones.
MOOD <----- the opposite of DOOM -
I have a few of the basics down as far as stacking but would LOVE to attend something like this. Now watch with my luck you are NOT on Virtue LOL.
One Good idea around that issue .. People sign up and create an ALT on whichever server this is hosted on. Okay so they'd be a 1 level BIG deal. LOL It would be for the purpose of attending the class and nothing sayd they can't delete when the class is done.
Only other way would be to TRY and do it on Test and that would require someone with a base there to offer it up.
Looking forward to more on this because I enjoy base design and would love more info on techniques along with a little hads on with a coach near by -
-
1. Base teleporter- very nice addition that comes in handy on Task Forces
2. Free costumes - I can't recall the last time I PAID for an outift
3. Black Wand/Nemesis Staff - always nice to have an extra ranged attack and even comes in handy for pulling.
4. Undead Slaying Ax- don't take it often but have a few characters it fits with and it is an excellent attack
5. Respec - I don't use these often since I use Midi to design my builds in advance but they have come in handy a few times when I decided to go in another direction. I do Respec Trials for Merits and the badge .. not to respec my characters LOL
6. Team Teleport - I will hit 42 months in a week and am looking forward to adding this to all my characters. -
Shield Charge adds another taunt to the mix.. after they get back up they will come after you. I have a SD/SS tanker that is a GM killer. Add normal taunt and the extra taunt of foot stomp and I have 4 different powers that ANNOY everything in sight.
I even use these soloing so I don't have to chase things. Announce my presence with Shield Charge and as soon as they recover from that and gather around me I use Foot Stomp and knock them all down again. Both are slotted for damage so at that point I can use my normal attacks to finish off what's left. -
Farming, in one form or another, has been going on since Issue 1 from what I understand.. I wasn't around at that point but there have certainly been enough "Farming" thread to confirm that before they nerfed taunt Tanks used to round up hundreds of enemies and pack them into a nice tight spot so the team could blast away at them for easy XP. That said did you, or anyone, really think that one nerf would do the trick? All the "farmers" did was switch the enemy group they are using and it was back to business as usual.
Heck I don't have any desire to create one but let's face it it's easy enough for them to even escape detection. Create your own farm mission and publish when you are ready to farm. When you are done for the day unpublish and let it sit in your files until you are ready to use it again. It would be all but impossible, at that point, for NC Soft to catch the writer since the mission wouldn't be up long enough to be detected unless someone reported it while he or she was still on line using it.
I'm not even sure if the nerf slowed things down but it did set the standard so IF a farmer gets caught and has his story banned or account discontinued they can't say they had NO IDEA. There is no easy fix and many of the Farmers simply went back to farming in PI using standard contact missions. There is no magic wand some one can wave and simply make it go away but at least now no one can say they didn't think it was wrong. -
There are aslo certain Arachnos maps that have holding cells and even a few COT maps. I am not sure if the COT map(s) with the prison cells are available but I am beting they are. I know the Arachnos ones with the holding cells exists I used it in a story arc and had Manticore as an Ally. I could not get that nut case to leave until we destroyed every door. LOL
-
I have to admit when I play I look for short to medium arcs simply because I don't want to spend hours getting through one writer's story.
All my own arcs fall into that range because I like creating custom groups and they suck up file space. I have one story that someone commented they enjoyed it and wished it was an arc. I thanked him for the comments and explained that by the time I got that first story finished I was up to 98% of my maximum file size. There is not a whole lot you can do with 2%. -
Yep I was just in there tonight with my SD/SS Tank. I never faceplanted but had several occasions where my helath dipped dramatically thanks to those giant eyeballs. I have been there before with an Ill/Emp Controller and they also have outstanding perception.. saw right through my superior invisibility.. in short they are a pain.
-
I pulled out my 47 level Tank tonight and decided to head for 48. After a few radios and such I was looking for something a little different so I headed for Firebase Zulu. It had been quite a while since I had visited the Shadow Shard and I figured it might be fun. I figured I'd run a few arc, maybe pick up some added merits and level up. Well I started with Hammond and then the missions started to repeat with NO arc??? I went to Paragon Wiki and "SUPRISE" aside from the TF contacts not one contact in the Shard HAS a story arc.
This is a fascinating looking zone with completely uniques villains seen no where else in the game, the invasion of Paragon City when they first became available aside, and it just seems like someone could put a bit more effort into the missions available there.
Now it was by no means a horrible experience .. I did manage to level tonight and the recipe and salvage drops were great. In addition I was able to add more than 25 Fake Nemesis to my total since I hunted them between cave door missions. This is also a good place to find Paragon Protectors .. but everyone already knew both those facts anyway.
Seems to me like this would provide the perfect opportunity for the Devs to add more 40+ content to the game without having to create another entirely new zone.
And now to share a comment from a good friend I was chatting with between missions. I made a comment about how it made perfect sense for Crey and Nemesis to be present in the Shard. I'll even give them the Council since they seek to dominate everywhere. My question was.. what possible reason is there for the Circle of Thorns being there?
His reply... "They are like roaches they show up everwhere." At that point we came up with a new name COTROACHES! lolFeel free to use that because it certainly fits!

Sorry, Wendy, but I'm kinda with the tank on this one. Oh, I probably would have waited the five minutes, I know things don't always come together quickly. But if everyone is just standing around gabbing, and I don't know why we aren't doing anything or how long we won't be doing it, well, yeah, I'm going to get ansy. And if I'm not getting any replied about our ETA to getting in gear, well, I'm not going to waste a heck of a lot of time just hoping that someone wakes up or something.
The tank sounded like he was on a pretty short timer. But if standing around waiting for five minutes was making the game unenjoyable for him, he had every right to walk.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah Tealeaf BUT all that had been explained to him. his departure left everyone going HUH? I have played on PUG teams doing radio missions that took longer to form up with out players quitting because it was taking too long. Oh and keep in mind this was an early afternoon TF 1PM Eastern time which meant it wasn't even lunch time yet on the west coast. Now let's get serious here at that time on a Wednesday and this guy thought a 5 minute wait for someone was too long to stand around? No he was a nut case IMO I have seen it take longer to form a TF in the evening on a weekend than we took and the Tank wasn't even one of the first to join .. in fact he was # 7 of 7 at the time so he'd had the shortest wait of anyone. Does that change your opinion? LOL -
Myself I have always loved the guy that bugs to join and when he gets the invite and joins the team is lying face down on the side walk about half a mile away with no health bar showing. "OH this is good He hasn't even gotten inside yet and he's dead" LOL Okay so anyone can get ambushed but it does look really bad to show up dead.
Find out I actually am a female and start hitting on me in tells. I'm here to have fun and be a hero NOT looking for a date and definately not looking for Cyber Thanks but NO thanks!
Lets see .. "BRB the dog needs to be walked" "BRB Phone" "BRB I need a smoke" "BRB I need something to eat" "BRB ......" Not once but several of those over the course of a mission or two along with sitting AFK inside the mission after Mission Complete while we wait for you to be Back again. A while back we did a Posi race. Two teams 4 members starting at the same time and seeing who could finish first. My team had a Warshade that did this on almost every single mission. He spent more time at the door AFK than helping at all.. worst part was we couldn't kick him the rules said we had to have 4 just like the other team. We lost of course.
Ahhh an oldie but BADDIE and I wish I had been the leader of this team cause the guy would have been GONE. Team leader invites a 2nd "healer" to join the team. This guy immediately starts barking out orders.. stay together and stay close to me! I am not running around to heal you. Then begins picking on the 2 Sks we have along telling them they are hurting the team because he has to spend more time healing them than those that have the RIGHT to be here.
I actually sent the leader, a friend of mine, a tell and told him to kick the guy. He couldn't or wouldn't, apparently the clown was another friend and a leader in his SG. Well the Sks quit along with their mentors (friends teaming together). Several others quit as well and then Mr. Obnoxious quit as well I guess a team of 3 wasn't enough XP for his tastes. I finished that mission with my buddy as a duo. Join MY team and start giving orders and insulting team members and YOU are toast! -

any woman who thinks they are proving women have what it takes to be a success in the video game (or any) industry by taking advantage of their womanhood are not only degrading themselves to a point where even if they were a confirmed female I wouldnt want anything to do with them, but are also only proving that they dont need to meet the standard because some guy with a hard on will carry them (duh).

What a fascinating treatise. When you get around to your point, and if it doesn't boil down to "GIRLZ HAVE TEH COOTIEZ," do let me know, won't you?

Oh MY SIGNED When I started I used to play nothing but male characters because I didn't want anyone to know I was a woman. There was the whole "Chicks can't play this right mentality" Then I discovered there were a bunch of GUYS playing female characters because "I am not staring at a guys butt all day while I play" LOL I started creating female characters and have, for the most part, ever since. NO I have no desire to take this to the Arena and see who is DA BEST but I will stack my Tanks, Scrappers, Controllers, Defenders, and Blasters against anyone's anyday. Oh and on many occasions the "little girl" playing with us was the one that took down the mob after the rest of the team face planted and saved a team wipe and trip to hospital.
SO do let us know when you actually make a point At least one that is valid (That means.. TRUE LOL) -

This is exactly how I get Shivan with my Ill/Emp controllers. I stealth in damage each turrent to all but gone and then take them all down quickly before they can respawn. I've done it numerous times and have always had success using that method. Use the same method now with any character I send in after them and have never had a problem.
Hey if that doesn't work for you for some reason.. stop trying solo and go to global channels and broadcast you are forming a Shivan collecting team. Depending on the time of day I am sure you can get an 8 man team together in no time and at that point taking out all the turrents is a breeze. -
Hehehe Been there Lived through that! I had just the opposite experience doing Manticore TF yesterday afternoon. Team started forming, mostly a pick up group, and we got to 7 players with one more on the way (was finishing up a solo radio mission). Now this guy was friends with the leader so no way we were starting without him but the Tank asked several times "When are we going to start this thing?" Now maybe a total of 5 minutes passed before the guy finished his mission, accepted the invite, and was in Brickstown but before that occurred the Tank quit. I guess five minutes was just TOO long a wait to endure. LOL
We replaced him with a Blaster and took off on mission one. It was one of the fastest and best run TFs I have been on in quite a while. We had fun joking and chatting as we went and we just out classed anything the Countess and her pool boy Hopkins could throw at us. We clocked in at under 2 hours without stealth and just honestly had a blast doing it. Really wish I could recall that tank's name so I could send him an email and let him know what he missed.
Tank? We don neeeed no Tank LOL -
I agree with Riverdusk and you'll find there are very few teams that don't jump at the chance to have a Rad. You get one nice heal, not as good as Emp but it auto hits and heals you as well so it is valuable even when soloing, along with a Rez in case a team mate falls. Acelerated Metabolism also boosts everyone's ability to recover end including your (again good solo as well). Everything else is debuff and good ones. You limit speed, make it harder for them to hit you and make it easier for you and/or the team to hit them. Name the team.. Radio, Contact, TF/Trial, or Giant Monster battle and a good Rad is always a welcome addition.
TA has some pretty good holds but I also agree with his assessment.. Team leaders will look at you and the neanderthal kicks in. "You no heal Heals good You bad Me no want you on team anymore." Strangly I am am currently playing an Ice/Storm Controller.. and have a grand total of on tiny little heal with almost everything else being holds, immobs, or some form of control of mobs abd have no proble getting her teams.
Rad Blast is good your attacks add an additional debuff to everything they hit .. so if anyone tells you not to attack let them know that cuts the amount of debuffing you can provide.
Never tried the Archery set on a Defender but I have several Arch Blasters and if its half as accurate for a Defender as it is for them It is a good set.
Dark/Dark Good combination set The attacks, like rad, add to the debuff affect main it harder for an enemy to hit you or your team and it has some good holds as well. Only drawback to Dark Masima is it requires a villain for your heals and rez to work. If the entire spawn is dead the team mate on the floor better have an awake or someone else on the team needs to give them one. Also has a chance of missing so you may want to slot 2 accuracies to increase it's overall effect. -
Hehehe I apologize for my brother Scrapper we have a tendancy to focus on one thing .. Hit stuff Hurt things. It's Scrapperlock and when I am in that zone I like nothing more than to be surrounded by villains so as soon as one drops I have auto-targetted the next. If we have to stop and run 30 feet to keep hitting something or click on something new to hit manually we get grumpy. Oh I have used that tactic before.. someone tells me DON"T do this or that so OKAY I don't and when they are face down in the sewer water I chuckle as I start up again protecting the rest of the team.
Next time anyone tells you your KB is bothering them let know that you have a series of AOE attacks that work best when the villains are tightly grouped together since it allows maximum damage to all. Tell them you'd appreciate it if they'd stop running in there and scattering things around so your attacks work better. Then when they tell you no and say your crazy.. tell them it works both ways. Tanks can only hold aggro on 17 villains and aggro can easiliy be broken .. the idea that villains will stand around in a nice little cluster waiting to die is just not the case so they need to get used to the idea that they may need to actually move around a bit to attack stuff or they can just solo. When you are the ONLY thing in the room NOT on their side everything always comes looking for you!hehehe

So I think the least a team leader could do is actually inform a potential member of what type of missions they are saying yes to in advance.
[/ QUOTE ]
Or you could just ask ....
[/ QUOTE ]
Umm perhaps you missed the part where I said I am doing that now. The point was previoulsy I didn't have to ask. I'd still do so on occasion to make sure someone wasn't inviting me to a team with villains 5 levels lower than me or 9 higher with NO one to Mentor me but now people are so desperate(?) to get their story played they have to result to all but kidnapping me onto a horrible map to play their terrible mission and then don't even stick around long enough to say THANKS afterwards. At times if I am willing to team but not desperate to do so (I am never desperate to do anything in game) I will click the circle in my search comments and show that YES I am looking for a team. Then I will start to solo and IF a blind tell comes in I used to automatically accept it since I was advertising I was available. NOW.. I pull up search and check to see what level the leader is and what zone he is in. Even then I ask what sort of missions he plans to run. POINT was I didn't have to spend all that time researching something as simple as a team invite until recently. There are a ton of good things that MA has done and can do for the game but apparently it has also spawned some very rude and obnoxious players that assume no one has anything else planned that day and should be honored to be invited to their story or their little PL farm. Hey you ae putting together an AE team to do good missions, NOT farms, and I don't have anything else planned I may be happy to join you if, as the team leader you bother to tell me that, send me a tell asking if I want t team and I join and discover its in the AE building in Atlas Park and I'll quit without asking another question. You want me on your team tell me up front what I am getting into .. I don't want to have to play detective I want to play superhero. -
This came up a while back when a friend that knew I sometimes did a bit of contributing to the Wiki asked who the statue was in Steel Canyon that Positron stand in front of. Unsure myself I asked on the forums there and no one had a firm answer. So I did a bit of inspecting and took some screen shots.. the conclusion was IT'S M-1 the same tank that has a statue in Galaxy.
Okay first.. were we right?
Next since M-1 also has a statue in Peregrine what is the background on him? Obviously he must have done some pretty amazing things to have statues in 3 city zones and the one in Steel where he is at attention saluting is the center piece of the neighborhood. He's at attention and saluting in SC .. did he serve during World War II using his super powers to help the allies win the war?
Had a bit of a debate on this one and can't seem to find anything to solve the mystery. We all know the 5th column are Nazis left over from WW II and that they were eventually overthrown by the Council. I swear at some point in official COH background on the official site it stated the Council were Italian Facists but that particular web page doesn't seem to exist anymore (or maybe I am just crazy). To support MY argument in some of the radio missions we get that deal with Council the Arcons do have Italian last names. Am I right or wrong?
Okay this one I think I know but would like to confirm.. Pocket D is actually located somewhere in the Shadow Shard isn't it? Don't recall ever seeing that in writing but someone told me that and when you look out the wndow, past the floating truck, it sure resembled the Shard. -
Hehehe Yes but I can confuse most Lieutenants and have even confused bosses at times. Nothing more fun than watching a Malta Gunslinger Boss devastate his own troops while I help and then polish him off once he's all by himself.
For extreme fun I soloed Bobcat, as an EB I am NOT insane, recently. How'd I do it? I carefully eliminated all the mobs around her to ensure they couldn't aggro and assist leaving just her and one minion.
Then I confused the minion and he started slicing her up while she stood there oblivious. After I got her health down around 50% I unleashed my Phantom Army, my Phantasm, and hit her with every attack I had. I think she lasted about a minute and a half after that. Did pretty much the same with Anti-Matter as an EB although I did add a Warwolf and an Amy to assist and he went down so fast it shocked me. Especially since my TANK tried soloing him a few days before and wound up in the hospital twice before giving up, finding a team and taking him down as an AV that way. It's all about strategy not brute force.. Don't let my Scrappers know I said that LOL -
Kickback is something everone at some time or another just has to deal with. If I am on a Scrapper or Tanker do I enjoy having to chase my original target half way across the room or pick another? NO. But then I also PLAY Blasters and KB is designed to take that minion, Lieutenant or Boss that has broken aggor and is IN MY FACE and toss him across the room so that my ranged attacks can defeat him before he gets back. Certain high damage attacks come with KB as well like exploding arrow in the Archery set. Now do you want me to damage the entire mob and make it easier to defeat them or not? LOL I tend to put up with KB better than some because I play both sides and know why it exists.
You can't please everyone all the time. As long as you do your job and help the team .. that one player that's upset can deal with it or find another team. Hey I played 2 of my blasters today and on one team while several of the Scrappers and the Tank went down against a level 5 ALL purple mob I was the one that helped avoid a team wipe and defeated the remainder of the mob. Don't recall anyone complaining about kick back after that battle. -

My two favorite myths that are repeated over and over and probably will continue for as long as the game goes on;
#1 We "need" a Tank
#2 We "need" a Healer
IMHO these are the two greatest myths in the game...
[/ QUOTE ]
add to that...
#3 "We need more damage" How many teams load up on Scrappers and Blasters assuming that controllers and especially defenders are weak and of no use. Best teams I have been on were all Controllers and Defenders. If it can't move, can't hit me and is taking damage at an incredibly accelerated rate while I am healing faster than it can do damage I can defeat anything.
My favorite example.. 1 Controller, 2 Defenders and a Warshade ( in Dwarf mode acting as the tank) took down Adamastor. I know I was there and was that warshade. LOL
Oh and I actually endured this conversation on a global chat channel I belong to. "Purple IOs are the only thing a player should have all other IOs, SOs and DOs are inferior and useless." The individual was heartbroken and ready to leave the game because she couldn't afford the outrageous prices purples go for on the Market. I have 50 levels still running with nothing but 50 level SOs and they do fine solo or on a team.
