Looking forward to this. I had a great time on Cap.. oh excuse me Commader Amazing's all Rookery ITF last week. -
Oh I have got to add this one since it just happened yesterday. I am currently picking up a few missied TFs with my 50 level Ill/Emp Troller and saw a post for a Sister Psyche (one of the few I still needed for TF Commander).
I sent a tell and joined the team, second member right below the leader, and eventually we had five all level 50s and none with a huge amount of AE badges and nothing else. I couldn't help thinking.. this is going to go VERY well even though I am the only support character teamed with 4 scrappers.
Well we get to mission one and things are a little shaky. The team leader constantly keeps running ahead and leaving us to fight the mobs without her. The four of us are doing a good job clearing but I keep seeing her health bar dropping to yellow or even red.. she must have gone through a ton of inspirations to survive.
Okay Sister P has a ton of stealthable missions and I have both Superior INV and Recall Friend so as we get into those I ask. Should I stealth? I figure no one is desperate for XP here since we aren't getting any anyway and the answer was "SURE go ahead". I head off and notice on my mini map that our illustrious leader is once again FOLLOWING me and getting pounded in the process. After mission two she dc'd and I became leader. She returned of course and we continued .. mission after mission it was exactly the same. I'd start to stealth and she's be off somewhere trying to, and succeeding a few times, to get herself killed. The absolute worst was a "Defeat the base leader" mission toward the end. I located the Boss and started TPing team members when she comes charging into the room with around 2-3 mobs following her. Between my heals and everyone else's efforts we somehow managed to avoid a team wipe there.
Now if this had been MY team originally I'd have kicked that character LONG before that but the team was her idea and I hated the idea of kicking the person who'd started the thing so I kept her on board.
FINALLY we got to the last mission and things get a little clearer... Now she is counting down Freakshow Tanks as they die. She is after the Freedom Phalanx Badge and all she has left are TANKS. IF she had mentioned that to begin with we could have stealthed less, defeated more, and she'd have earned the badge without having to act like a complete NUT JOB. Well we defeated the AV, rescued the hostages, and shut off the last Sonic disrupter.. TGFcomplete. I think she came up short on the tanks she needed and dropped as soon as we stepped outside to go hunt more in Brickstown. She never said thanks to anyone and generally made the TF tougher for all of us since she was never around to help us with any mobs. She's on my Global Ignore list now.
Oh I did check her badges.. 52 month vet with a ton of badges but a grand total of ONE other TF and during the course of our mini ordeal she revealed she's done that one (Synapse so she could get her gearsmasher badge) earlier the same day. To me Vet Badges usually spell decent player but.. obviously NOT always LOL -

Then there was one Skyraider respec trial where the team makeup looked like we should be able to do it. Except as we're clearing out the rooms to try to find the key to the reactor room, I finally realize that it's taking a LOT longer to defeat mobs than it really should. A quick scan of everyone's info revealed that the blaster had ALL of the travel powers.Fly, Superspeed, Teleport, and Superjump. That's eight power choices. After level six, he just concentrated on getting the travel powers. With only those beginning attacks, he wasn't putting out any damage. The team broke up when everyone realized that we weren't going to be able to do it. I didn't mind too much. I felt bad for others who were looking forward to it. I still got a lot of exp and influence, and it's not like I needed the respec. But it would've been nice to finish.

OH My I have seen this same sort of thing but thankfully I didn't team with this particular player. I was in Talos at the train station and had just broadcast I was LFT. ABout the same time a Defender about the same level as I was broadcast as well and out of curiosity I clicked on him to check his profile, powers, etc. He had apparently decided to make himself the ultimate support player. He was an EMP and had taken every single power available from his primary (absolutely nothing wrong there) but hadn't taken a single one of his secondary since level 1. Instead he had Hover and Fly, Recall Freind and Teleport, Hasten and Super Speed, along with Aid Others and Stimulant. Can't recall but he may have even had eother group fly or something else.
I couldn't help but chuckle at those power choices I always chose Fly for a travel power and with a lot of my support characters I will take Recall friend to assist slower player in getting to the mission and to TP fallen characters to safety so I can rez .. I suppose HASTEN would, for a short time, make him able to heal and buff faster but why anyone needed 3 of the 4 different travel modes was beyond me. He had basically created a character that couldn't defend itself if it tried and aside from Recall Freind and possibly Group Fly wasn't really adding anything to help the teams he was one.
If he was really going to create the ultimate SUPPORT toon... wouldn't the Leadership pool have been a much better choice?
Let's see.. Lose SS and Hasten since it's only good for a short time anyway. Then Drop Teleport ( I did notice his travel power of choice like mine was fly) and keep Recall friend. Judgement call but lose Stimulant as well since it only works on a single player anyway. He'd have picked up 4 power choices and could have then taken every single one of the Leadership pool powers aiding his team mates with added buffs.
This was also LONG before AE and just goes to prove anyone, at any time, can make some rather interesting (and goofy) power selections. Ah well it was HIS character and if he was happy with it so be it. Just glad I never had to team with him LOL -
hehehe Arcanus... so your an Uncle or a cousin That works right?
-
A new Elf Maiden now exists in Paragon city .. Mai'Kesh Gysse loosely translated that mean "The Clan of the Death Dancers" a group of Elves trained as the Elf King's own personal body guard and his assasins. LOL She has already finished with the lowly forces in Outbreak and awaits the arrive of 9PM Tuesday in Atlas Park.
Hehehe Okay I switched a bit and rolled an Arch/MM I have another like that and the 30+ level version is awesome.
/e nods respectfully to the Catgrrrl Tank and smiles
THIS could be fun! Could be??? WILL BE! -
Oh so everyone is starting at level 1 or 2. Well I just happen to have slot open I will create a brand NEW Arch/Ice Elf for the occasion. Tuesday it is!
-
/e Yanks Cap onto her lap and gives his cheek a kiss
Mmm my hero hehe Beating up Romulus was so much fun. I'll follow you anywhere. Oh and walking away 2 million richer even before I sold stuff was fun too!
Hey FedorGood to see you.
/e wiggles uncomfortably in the chair
Umm Cap think we can trade places? This seemed like a good idea at the time but your squishing me -
Blaster do tend to outclass most, if not all other AT, in the ealy game mainly because a Blaster's primary and secondary powersets contain damage, damage and more damage while a Scrapper may be dividing time between attacks and defenses. Still even above 20 Blasters shine no matter what powerset because you are providing tons of Aoe damge, or now have several attacks/deneses that help to mitigate mobs. I soloed an Arch/Ice all the way to 50, between teaming with others, and never really had much of a problem. I have a Fire/Fire at 30 that became a Blapper somewhere around level 15 and now can usually be found in melle range pounding away right beside the Scrappers and Tank.
It is a different play style, of course, and if you try to play a Blaster (solo) like a Tank you'll be face down examining carpet quite often but once you discover a strategy that works you can handle anything. Even on teams you need to play your character based on what you are facing. I was the Empath on an 8 man PUG recently and one Blaster constantly kept rushing into melle range and faceplanting. Aparently she had a couple of close range attacks she considered her best. Problem was we were tackling mobs on INV and even the minions were conning purple so I couldn't heal her fast enough to prevent her defeats.. at least not without letting the entire rest of the team die. Funny part was she never complained, never grumbled, or anything else. It was as if that was HER way of playing and she accepted constant dying as a part of it. MY problem with that was I accept the possibility of defeat but don't accept being defeated as a "normal" part of my game and her play style meant she spent more time on the floor watching us earn HER XP than helping and when every mob is full of purples you need everyone contributing to succeed.
If you're new and looking for a few good suggestions on power sets...
Arch/Ice good damage, GREAT accuracy, and Ice gives you holds/immobs that keep anything from getting in your face and doing serious damage.
Arch/MM I have two of these in the 30s and 40s and frankly I LIKE Mental Manipulation a LOT (which is why I have 2 of them LOL). It has holds/immobs but also some great ranged attack and is the first secondary I have ever had that I relied on as much as my primary
Fire/Fire I mentioned that earlier and it does serious damage. It's actually a littleslow starting out but once you get DOs and hit the teens it really starts to shine.
Oh and I just rolled a PSI/MM to try out and that is still at level 9 but I did three radios solo and a safeguard to get my Raptor pack. Didn't have a bit of problem doing so. That's another you might like to look into if you decide to make one.
Well Hope that helps and HAVE FUN -
/e yawns and grumbles as she makes he way down the stairs and head to the COFFEE
Some fool starting working on his motorcycle at 4AM and woke me up. At 4Am there are only two things anyone should be doing. Sleeping or.. well technically we are allowed to say the other thing here. LOL
/e slumps into a chair and sips at her coffee stairing moodily out the window at the clouds. Grrrr swears one looks like a motorcycle
Hehehe Morning all
Ohhh Emmi are we still on for the All Rookery team on Tuesday at 9PM in Atlas? My Elfmaiden is all fired up and ready to shoot things with point sticks. -
Yes we all run into the "BAD" player eventually. My latest involved a number of them I joined an 8 man team doing some radio missions and everything was going pretty well. Then the leader and two others announced they were logging. About half the time when that occurs the entire team busts up but on this occasion the new "leader" was happy to continue and since a 5 man team earns more XP, etc. than soloing I stuck around.
Well the first mission we get is the Safeguard in Talos. Now keep in mind I said TALOS that's 31-36 level territory so you sort of assume at that point that players have at least some clue how to play their characters and the game. We enter the mission and head for the bank and don't do a bad job of handling the lieutenant and minions up front. I head toward the vault and what I expect to be a boss considering the team size and sure enough I find him. I was playing a scrapper so I move in and start to attack and for a while I am holding my own. The problem was his sidekick was a Tsoo Sorceror and as fast as I was dealing damage he was healing the Boss.
Now I am starting to watch my health drop and start to wonder why. I check my mini map and discover there is only one other member of the team still in the bank and that player is still up by the front door. Everyone else had exited the bank... apparently completely unaware there even was a vault at the back of the bank or a signature villain to defeat.
Finally I run out of blues and greens and the Boss faceplants me. I head to the hospital and discover the entire team waiting at the Arachnos flyer on top of the hill. I rush over there and by some miracle we do actually manage to stop the villains from escaping.
When we got back out I did what I should have done earlier and checked my team mates. One player had a 3 month Vet badge and the rest had none at all. Also every single one of them had a lot of badges from running AE missions and absolutely nothing else. Normally I do check things like that just to see if I am on a rookie team or one with a lot of Vets but we'd done so well as an 8 man team I never thought to look when we dropped to 5. I had hooked up with a team full of AE ex-farmers that had never done a bank mission before in their lives and got to work on my debt badge a little thanks to it. Of course I did what any sane Vet would do.. I QUIT the team and found another one.
It was partly my own fault of course.. If I'd checked I could have guided them a bit and things might not have gone so bad. I tend to use both hands when I play, one to attack and one to move, so I don't chat much inside missions especially not when I have a boss staring me in the face so I didn't have the opportunity to yell for help more than once while I was battlng that boss. And I should have looked to see where everyone was before I tackled the boss... BUT at level 30 and up I am not used to having to do that and frankly at level 30 I shouldn't have to do that. At level 5 a player can head to Kings Row and 3 radio missions later be doing their first Safeguard so these glorious 30+ AE PL Farmers don't have the same knowledge and skills as a 5-9 level in KR?
I still accept invites to PUGs but I make sure and check everyone to see just exactly who I am teaming with and YES I have quit a team or two when all I saw was AE badges. -
Whoa well I have no desire to read through 13+ pages to see if anyone had anything nice to say so 'll add this.
I have taken an Arch/Ice to 50 level and was able to team and solo effectively all the way up. Archery has the best accuracy of any blaster set I have tried and it's version of a Nuke (Rain of Arrows) has the advantage of not leaving the player drained of end and unable to attack at all for a while. I actually lead off with Rain of Arrows on larger teams to ensure maximum damage before the mob starts to scatter. Follow that up with Exploding arrow and I've hit a mob with 2 AoE attack before they can think. I have several other Archery blasters now in the 30s and 40s. All of them can solo or team so I am not sure how they are the "weakest" powerset.
Now Secondaries I shy away from DEv because it just doesn't fit the concept but I use Ice and Mental Manipulation and both offer good holds/Immobs and some added attacks. This is about Arch but just let me add that since I tried MM I love it and it's the first secondary powerset I have found myself using an relying on as much as my primary. -
/em Gasps in disbelief as her bosum swells and bursts out of her jammies. Covering her now exposed breasts as best she can with her arms she stared down in disbelief
ROOK I didn't mean THAT big! Rushes back into what is now left of the bedroom to find anything that MAY still fit.
Men You ask a small favor and they either ignore you completely or go completely crazy and overdo everything they touch. This better be reversible! Well...

At least somewhat reversible. hehehe Oh Ramone look what Miss has now!<--- Ramone (Phantasm/Poolboy/BoiToy

I have to agree with those saying Atlas is NOT that big. Come on think about it semi-realistically if he was so big his foot was taller than a house, as mentioned, every step he took would create shock waves that would devastate a neighborhood. Imagine all of Paragon City looking something like Boomtown OR WORSE.
The term giant is pretty subjective.. David fought Golith in the Christian Bible and Golith was considered a giant but I recall reading some scientific report stating that Golith was about 7 feet tall. Now considering that in those times most men stood no higher that 5 feet 5 inches or so a man roaming around that was that much taller would, of course, be deemed gigantic. Even by today's standards if someone suddenly appeared that was say 15 feet tall wouldn't we all have the tendancy to refer to him as gigantic or as a Giant.
For all we know Atlas may have been able to grow no taller than 15 or 20 feet in height and that alone would have him towering far above all but a few of the GMs we have in game. With strength to match that size he'd easily be able to crush a large group of normal sized villains.
I realize we are playing a fantasy game based on comic books but even in the comics the writers at least tried to make heroes and villains feasible. Where exactly would a, say 100 foot tall man,go to sleep? He did eventaully perish saving the city so he was NOT a god just a very large humanoid.. which means he needed to eat. Can you imagine the bill at McDonalds to fill him up? I'm not sure of the canon on him but he was able to shrink to normal size so I'd say he was a Mutant (?) with the ability to increase his size as needed. For all we know he could even have controlled how big based on the threat. Do I really need to be 30 feet tall to stop those three Hellions from stealing that woman's purse? Naw 8 or 10 feet should be plenty LOL
So why couldn't the Devs create a pint sized version (say Kronos Titan sized) of Atlas and let the villains have fun attacking him? -
/em peers down the steps trying to discover what is going on after Pain's enormous head came crashing through her bedroom.
Can someone explain why my canopy bed is now in tiny little pieces in the neighbor's yard?
/em waves and Fedor and chuckles as she watches him tussle
Good morning all I see we are having one of "those" days today. And unless you plan to take me shopping just keep that embig... Embigen.. That silly ray thing away from me. I spent a small fortune on my wardrobe. Hmmmm
/em ponders if the ray can be used to just make certain parts bigger.. stares down at her small breasts and grins at the thought of being able to give big boobie hugs like Detra
Ummm How does that thing work exactly? -

i cannot comprehend needing more than 36 slots for a single server
someone please explain this to me
[/ QUOTE ]
Well I started off with 12 and then they GAVE me some more. Then they told me I could buy more if I wanted them and well... I have 36 on Virtue scatterd between 3 SuperGroups all of which I either run outright or am one of the top leaders. I have Tanks, and Scrapper and Trollers OH MY! Add in Fenders and Blaster and Warshades (okay so 1 warshade) with a variety of powersets and origins. It, it ... It all just happened so fast I couldn't help myself.
And now they have a new issue coming up that makes me want to transfer some of my villains to Virtue from Infinity so they can go Rogue! I need more slot I long for more slots Oh please can't we do something about this horrible situation?
HI My name is Wendy and I AM an Altoholic. -
I take this quite a bit especially since I always take fly as my travel power. As already stated it has a great knock up capability and even without enhancements recharges fairly fast and has a good amount of accuracy.
On my scrappers and tanks this adds another good GO TO attack to my chain. On Controller, Defenders, and Blasters this IS my go to attack if I have a villain in melle range. It puts that villain on his back allowing me to move back out of range and then hit him with ranged attacks, holds, immobs, whatever to ensure he doesn't get another chance to hit me. -
I know Emmi but if you don't holler at them for no reason every once in a while they start to actually think they are running things. hehehe
So Drunk what sort of stuff do you enjoy? I can usually be found on some Task Force myself.. I have a mild problem with Altitis but I have it under control. Okay I have 36 characters here and they won't let me have any MORE slots.
So if your looking for team mates look me up .. hmmm Okay Wicked Wendy won't work hero side since she is a Villain (MM) and still on Infinity ... my heroes migrated here almost 2 years ago now. Well the 50 levels are in my Signature .. or just join almost any global channel that deals with teams or badges and scream I NEED TAXIBOT SARA. LOL Unless I up surrounded by a group of Malta I should respond fairly quick.
Now as for the rum I swear that good for nothing Pirate left a case of it around here someplace. Unless he took it back to the ship of his. All the things I do for him and he spends more time on that ship with those smelly pirate friends of his than he does with me!
Did we happen to mention we are all a little crazy? LOL -

Sorry this may take a while good to have you join us have fun. -
Direct from the office of the Mayor:
At present "minor" construction has started in the Atlas Park Neighorhood of Paragon City. We apologize for any inconvience this may cause and all efforts will be made to complete the renovations as quickly as possible. Estimated time of completion 2012" LOL
Great picture! -

*mental note have Ramone go and get a new tank with a good mesh lid*

Speaking of Inf....
Anyone notice on Hero Side when you save a civilian from getting mugged, etc, they pay you? Isnt that a little... weird? Haha. I know that its a means of gaining money and exp and earning money without having to do mishes but... in real life, I cant say I'd PAY a hero for saving me, or as a Hero TAKE the money. Haha.
[/ QUOTE ]
WELL.. that all sort of revolves around their insisting that Influence is NOT money. According to NC Soft and Cryptic before them Influence was/is your reputation within the city so you saved a citizen and your reputaion improved (a bit) since one more citizen now thinks you are great!
It's the biggest joke in game IMO I use influence to buy (YES BUY) everything from added costumes to enhancements, recipes, salvage, inspirations and can even exchange it for prestige to support my SG base (that rate is awful at 2000 prestige for 1 million in inf but it does exist out there). INF is money... Sorry NC Soft but when was the last time you went to the store and picked out new clothing and then told the sale clerk "Oh I am using my Reputation to purchase these things." *pause* "No wait why are you calling Securty?" LOL
Heck we have our own version of the STOCK MARKET these days in Wentworths and the Black Market.. "Buy low, Sell high" so the idea that Influence and Infamy are anything BUT cash is sort of silly But there is your explanation for why you get paid.. your not being tipped you have gained repsect in the community. -
[ QUOTE ]
The lack of replies is probably due to the aforementioned large amount of times it has been suggested.
... personally, I think they need to redo it to get villains involved. Possibly with PvP.
[/ QUOTE ]
I could definately see this as a possibility and who knows it might even spark the Dev's interest. Turn the Shard into a Coop zone allowing heros and villains another opportunity to join forces... it would give villains access to 4 more TFS (SFS) (with some revamping since some ATM do send heros back to Paragon City itself), open up more unlockable weapons to them, and with the addition of a few story ARCS add more and varied content for both sides from 40 level on up. Not a huge fan of PvP and there are already 4 zones for that. access for heros already exists so all they'd need to do is add access COV side. Hey they could even leave the TFs alone and simply add a few new ones designed solely for villains.. that would make it possible for heros and villains to team on contact missions and still give each side it's own unique TF/SFs to enjoy. Possibly add a 5th that both sides could join in together.
Hey the current trend in NEW zones has been Coop since it provides content to both sides at omce so why not? -

Why does Blizzard disappear if the caster gets defeated while it's raining down?
This is so not fair!
[/ QUOTE ]
You're serious? and planning to report it as a bug? Blizzard is an attack its a longer lasting one than other but it is still an attack. If you are laying face down in the dirt do you have the ability to fire off any other attacks in you tray? No.
Granted some pets do linger after a defeat.. Gang War for MMs (as mentioned) Phantasm for Illusion and I play those but a Phantasm is almost an added player that can be healed, buffed, and affected by mez, etc. My Phantom Army can't enjoy any of these things but then again it also can't be defeated and remains at full strength until it's time runs out.
Posting a bug report about this will do little more than give some Dev a mild chuckle. -

Just one question.
You don't think it's cool that the NPC's know you are so awesome that one of them figure's, "Aww CRAP! It's Wicked Wendy! Screw you guys, I'm outta here!"
[/ QUOTE ]
If I am street hunting and still get the Xp, ect from the other two let him run. But when the 2nd villain guarding the hostage I am supposed to save runs off half way across the map I am NOT amused. This can get particularly interesting in that 5 layer Cake cave mission when the runner decided to hide in some little crack and you spend 5-10 minutes hunting for him.
Certain groups have always had "runners" associated with them.. or something similar. Skyraider Porters, Tsoo Sorcerors, Hellions and so on. But years ago groups like the Freakshow would prefer to stand and fall before showing any sign of weakness. Now they all do it.
Now .. we all know that Nemesis is an egomanic and a complete wimp once you get him alone. Knock out his minions and get him to about half life and he runs like crazy. I expect that ... he created those mechanical things to protect him so when they fail he goes to plan B.. RUN like crazy! Oh and villains are not alone. Longbow (both COV and the ones we get to battle in RWZ) have always had a tendancy to bolt during combat. "They look so pretty and they RUN so fast!" lol
I somehow doubt it will change. But I think it would be nice if some groups actually stood their ground defiantly and fought you to the end. Now they all just turn and run (wimps). -
*yawns and stretches as she moves down the steps smiles at Rookery and heads over putting on the coffee and staring out the window at the bright new day*
Good morning Rookery. Puppy wants to go down a rabbit hole? That sounds dangerous. Has Puppy had all the right shots yet? Rabbits do carry some nasty diseases maybe a trip to the VET for a few injection is required before that happens.
*stetches again with her arm raised high and then reaches back to rub her cute behind and realizes she doesn't have on any undies*
Oh that's right Ramone has those on.. we played a little game last night
