  1. Your joking right? LOL say your joking. I still see broadcasts for LFT RP preferred or X level RP Team looking for 2 members on a daily basis here. Pocket D? On Friday nights the Taxibots gather for an evening of teaming or helping other players. I have stood on the platform in Steel Canyon and had RP going on behind, below and beside me half the night. It may not be as frequent as before but trust me Virtiue is still the RP server.

Oh and HEY I am one of those Rookery forumites... we aren't silly.. we are all nuts. hehehee Also run on the newly formed Rookery Static team that plays together every Tuesday and we may be crazy but we are all good players. So there
  2. Mess with my Archery attacks and feel my wrath. Melle attack had a built in advantage already ... the ATs that have them have more hit points than those with only ranged attacks. You don't like that I am hitting you at distance.. don't start screwing up the accuracy I NEED to survive an solo well in PvE ... Try running at me and closing range. I'll either turn and run which means I am not shooting at you any more or hope I've done enough damage already to take you down before I am defeated.

I have no desire to PvP ever but its only one small part of the game and making those changes screws MY game up because you can't run fast enough? Nope I don't buy it

It's not crossdressing. Female costume options are not being ported to males, nor vice versa.

    IBTD.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree with SpaceNut while I am sure there will be certain Role Players that will find a way to use this imappropriately Cross Dressing would entail allowing male characters to wear items now only available to females and females access to male items.

What this allows is (with 5 costume slots) anyone to create several male and sevearl female body types and outfits. Personally I like the idea and even have an RP all set up where the character is an alien able to morph from a male to a female at will. With the addition of dual builds this would even allow me the opportunity to design one combination of powers for each gender. So lets say if I am soloing I could morph to a powerful male character and if I was in a team support mode I could morph to a female or the other way around. Sounds like fun to me.

Now let's get serious YES the game has a teen rating but I am on Virtue "THE UNOFFICIAL RP SERVER" and head into Pocket D almost any time of day or night, but mostly after a certain hour in the evenings) and some of the broadcast RP goes way beyond a teen rating and who knows what is happening in tells? At one point my SG even had a coalition with a "Mature RP" SG and I finally turned off coalition chat because they were on there every night flirting, gropping, and much more IN COALITION. They had around 7 bases that belonged to the coalition and when I visited all but the main one were set up as little more than nightclubs .. or worse. Their chat constantly filled the screen and actually caused some of my members to miss directons from team leaders because that text flew by too fast. Funy thing is THEY broke the coalition with us. I suppose we weren't racy enough for them. "Oh my they actually want to play the game! And have you seen their base? It has teleporters and workshops. Where are the bedrooms?" GIVE ME A BREAK lol

As long as it's kept private if someone want to use this as a way to express their crossdressing nature (Rolls eyes) I have no problem with it. Just KEEP it private!

On my first run we ended up killing the kooshballs one by one while someone tanked Romulus.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Last run I was on there were two tanks. I pulled the healing fluffy away from Rommie and kept it taunted. You can't pull the fluffies too far or they ignore you and head back to Rom, but you can get it out of heal-the-AV range.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You have to be careful, though, as you can also pull it out of 'available to be sucked dry when Rommie goes down' range, which leaves you with the healing Nictus to deal with; when we accidentally did this, we had to put our Stalker up front to 'tank' the Nictus while everyone else whacked it from outside of its healing range, a long, slow grind.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yep had that happen on one a while ago. One of the team mates mentioned it had happned to her before and how they dealt with it. Everyone, scrappers and tanks included stayed out of aggro range and the controllers and blaster used their range atttacks. Even our Tank and scrappers only used black wands, Nemesis staffs. and any other temp powers with range to do damage. When it was suggested I didn't see any way it would actually work but the nictus all just hovered there taking damage until we managed to defeat all 3

Yeah it took a little while but we'd already had all but 2 team wipes trying to seperate and defeat or bum rush the trio. Not my ideal way to beat the ITF but it worked, we won, and all got our bright shiy badges LOL
  5. * stretches and yawns as she wakes and then grins*

Ohhh latex day Raome will be so happy He loves those.

*makes her way to the closet and picks out a skin tight latex catsuit in red. After a bit of tugging and smoothing she is happy with the look and add a pair of 4 inch red heels to finish the look. Heads down the stairs and joins in the worship of the god of caffine.

Ahhhhh that's better. I do not function well inn the morning without my coffee. Morning all hope everyone is off to a good start on the weekend. Ugh I hate rain! ((thankfully here it finally quit after 5 or 6 days straight))

/e Ramone wanders down the stairs and Wendt shoves him into a closet and locks the door.

Why Bay I do declaye you look positively yummy. Oh wait YESTERDAY was southern Belle .. Hmmmm SO Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just happy to see me? (See I can quote Mel Brooks too /e giggles).

    Looks great Bay
  7. Rock the Casbah

mmmm Listening to it right now. I love this song too
  8. Ohhh we are in Zee Cazbah today how exciting and romantic.

    Good morning all

/e grabs Fedor and gives him a quick tickle before wandering to the kitchen for coffee and some French Pastry.

I love exotic places Hmmmm wonders if the Rookery can make the trip to Hong Kong?????
  9. I doubt it since most people balk at the fact they have to take a power like say HOVER before they can get FLY. Unless these new powers provide added defenses, buffs to attacks or whatever I seriously doubt a lot of players would be interested. Case in point .. the reward for earning the 60 month VET badge is the ability to skip that first power, and at level 6 .. I believe, go ahead and take Teleport, Fly, Super Speed, etc. This saves them a slot they can then use to add to their attack chain or to their defenses. That was being suggested here for a long time before it became available and even then only to players with 5 years in game.

The cold hard fact is most people view travel powers as a necessary evil (sort of) and only take what they absolutely need before concentrating solely on their primary, secondary, and any other pool power set they may desire. Players have been screaming for STAMINA to be available without having to take 2 other powers for years and that hasn't happened yet (probably never will).

It's not a horrible idea but unless you have specific ideas for added powers that would actually entice players to want them I don't see many actually wanting or caring more travel options.
  10. That's what I though Sharker thanks and Charnage your second post does make things clearer. Nope even doing their arc through time travel won't help you. While on it you MAY be able to buy some inspirations from the contact but once you complete the arc they disappear from your contact list. Sort of like they never existed to begin with so that won't reallu help you at all
  11. I am not sure but it sounds like you are asking about the store contacts you find in Brickstown and Founders Falls that require you to run a mission before they will sell you anything? If so the answer is no .. I tried that before and once you out level them you are done.

Not even sure if it applies to regular contacts you travel back through time to run their arcs but it may. Some of those arcs are pretty long and you are on a TASK FORCE so to speak so you lose touch with any other contacts. At that point aside from buying Inspirations at Pocket D no one else will talk to you. Of course if you belong to a good SG you can pick them up there using the Inspiration Collectors or, If they have one, buying blues and greens in base through an Auto Doc.

I have NO idea if all that helps but hopefully. Good Luck
  12. /e slip off the heels and hands them to Emmi

I wondered where they came from. Ramone wore them last night while we did a little.. well never mind. Here take them back.

/e giggles and blows Fed a kiss and waves

You be careful on that thing Fed. Don't crash and get hurt or I will have to kiss and make it all better. (( Who knows what that may have just started))

And Shecky PLEASE Don't do that when I am enjoying morning coffee. Now be a good DJ and get back to work on the AD for the Taxibots I requested LOL

[Remember your not really a hero till you put on The Cape]
  13. /e carefully makes her way down the stairs wearing Dasiy Duke shorts, skin tight white tank top and bright red high heels

How on earth did that Bach woman manage to run in this outfit?

Ohh Well good Mawning yall or as we say up north Yo Was up? lol

Congratulations Emmi sounds like your son is doing very well. Umm I have an 19 year old daughter.. graduated 6 months ahead of her class (in January). Joined the Air National Guard so she can let THEM pay to send her to college to be a Doctor and is currently stationed in Las Vegas. Does he have a girl friend?

Oh and where is that guy looking for a maiden to tie to some railroad tracks? Y'all stay fer ahway from me Ya here?

/e goes and pours herself a huge coffee and purrs happily as she sips at it. Watching carefully for any signs of strange men, with rope and a map to the nearest rail line

Wow sounds like you guys/gals had a blast! Too bad I missed it. So you all got your raptor packs and I didn't *pouts* Also, I would have run regular missions instead of sewers, but that's just me. I suggest heading to the hollows so we can get a big FF mish on, then move on to Steel and get the midnighters arc out of the way. Then maybe we can get in some radio's in Steel until maybe lvl 17 or so, and hit Faultline. (I have it all planned out!) How does that sound to everyone?

See you all next Tuesday, 9pm EST!

    ~mew!~

    [/ QUOTE ]

I had a great time... Oh in case anyone is wondering I use both hands most of he time to attack and move when I play so you may have noticed inside a mission I don't say much.. that would require I stop fighting to hunt and peck LOL

I like this plan goodness I can't remember the last time I did FF since most people all but skip the Hollows completely these days. I almost always knock out the Midnighters Club arc somewhere between 10-15 so I don't have to worry about it later. And I always liked those short little story arcs in Faultline .. Judging from or team's performance Tuesday I think we my even have a shot at actually getting that crazy Fushionette out of the first one alive.

Oh one suggestion for Faultline .. everyone get the missions and we can run them in sync so we all get the MERITS each arc gives out at the end. Same goes for the Midnighter club. I loves merit, I loves tickets .. anything that lets me BUY stuff without using influence hehehe

And in our defense .. we entered the sewers at level 2 and that first mob were 5 level Vahz. I am amazed I somehow survived. After that we hit several 3 level mobs in a row and starting "dinging" left and right and all went well.

SO glad it was nothing really serious that kept you from making it Emmi. I pictured everything from a baby teething and crying endlessly to fevers or worse. Looking forward to next Tuesday. Oh be warned all I use every advantage COH provides and all my character below 50 level LIVE off line in Police Stations for the added XP bonus so I may be earning as much as 175% XP until the time runs out.

    Bio theme songs

hehe Okay I confess I am a Bio reader too. Do the same thing if we are standing around waiting for whatever I am reading bios and checking to see if they have any neat badges.

All my characters get one. Some as soon as they are born while others I will play a bit and build a bio around their powersets and what they can do.. I have even spent time at the tailors redoing outfits after I created a bio and decided the outfit wasn't quite right. Hmm theme songs I never considered that... NOW look what you are forcing me to think about! LOL

    RP?

And to be honest, I kinda believe everyone is a guy on here unless I can confirm otherwise via Vent or some other method. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

The funny thing is...they were both excellant players. Its just a shame they had to RP and pretend they were someone else to enjoy the game. They werent brought in because they were female...they were added because they were good players...so I'll nip that in the bud before someone even goes there.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's a vidoe game where we are all, to some extent or another, pretending we are super heroes. I am not sure I see your point. You said both were good players which is why you invited them in the first place. So what if they were guys pretending to be girls? If that made the game more enjoyable for them .. who cares? Sounds like you actually kicked them from the SG over it. It's your SG and you can do what you want but are there that many GOOD players out there that aren't already in another SG that you'd kick them just because they like pretending they are females?

NOW If they were trying to get other members, male or female, to engage in ERP tricking someone into doing something nasty I see your point. BUT I have friends, that have both male and female characters..Male friends and everyone knows what they are. I myself have ... Ummm trying to count in my head just a sec... 4 or 5 males characters I play and I'm a woman. But I never EVER look for or want EPR as a female or male character. I play to have fun, be heroic for a bit LOL, and chat with my friends. Oh and not that I post a sign above my head "FEMALE PLAYING A MALE TOON" I have no qualms about letting someone know I am in fact a girl playing a guy ATM. BUT everyone is entitles to their opinion.. you have your's .. here's mine Have fun and Be safe!
  17. I guess I am in a mood tonight I almost forgot the BOY SCOUT comment. SO what are you saying I should REALIZE that at level 32 I am going to need to run that mission and plan ahead some way?

Okay I get on a really good team, 8 players running mission on Invincible, and we are tearing through missions and earning XP like crazy.. in short having fun. ALL of a sudden I find myself at level 32 and want 35 level SOs. DAYS before that I knew that PUG was going to exist and should have gone to the store and RUN that mission so I'd be ready? I see I'm supposed to be able to see into the future now as well

Or maybe I should have sat down and figured out exactly what enhancements I would need at level 32 and had one of my higher level characters buy them for me.. place them in the Enhancement tables at base so I could just run in and grab them at 32. Hmmm oh wait While I can do that at MY base because the tables allow it (thanks to only having a few select friends in the SG that I trust). How many SGs still have their storage bins, of any kind, locked up tight as a drum thanks to some truly HEROIC individuals a few years ago that were joining one SG after another and then stealing everything they could carry from all the storage bins. SO, IF I even have another character in that same SG, I buy them, store them, and then still can't get them because the SG leader isn't on at the moment.

Sorry if I sound a little ticked off but frankly I am. That one LITTLE post you made makes it sound like I am some selfish player running around wanting things handed to me ME ME ME and like I don't even try to plan for things.

All I am suggesting is a change to make everyone's life a little easier and with the way SGs operate today and with no one ever knowing when they may find a good team .. let's face it we have a fairly mature player base, for the most part, and things like Work, School, and Family.. you know REAL LIFE limit play time so even a good static group is never sure if everyone or anyone will be on when they want to play. I just joined a static group this week that plays together every Tuesday at 9PM. It was our first week and the leader (the player that came up with the idea to begin with) had to bow out because her baby was teething or whatever .. The end result was she was the only one that couldn't play that night. So now we are all at level 10 and in order to catch up she has to solo. farm, or find some good PUGS between now and next Tuesday. Okay BOY SCOUT how do we PLAN for that?

whew alright I am done being the crazy blonde. I usually try to keep things light when I am here and maintain a friendly attitude toward everone. Even the people I disagree with I always try to treat with respect when I am disagreeing. You just hit me on, apparently a bad night, and I don't like people ASSUMING anything about me or my motives. I didn't ask for the magic DEV's I win button that defeats everything in the zone .. I asked for Stores to sell me inspirations I can use in zones I am capable of playing in and that I don't need to do some "Special Mission" to earn the right to them. And since NC Soft apparently already must think that's not a completely bad idea or the RWZ store wouldn't be set up the way it is.. I hardly see that as asking too much.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
While I'm not necessarily against the idea; I stopped reading as soon as I saw "that we are entitled to". Sick of Entitlement Thinking, personally.

Also tired of people not thinking a smidge ahead to be prepared for some eventualities. No Boy or Girl Scouts amongst Heroes, I guess. Oh well.

As far as the Lower the Levels of available TO's, DO's and SO's available in some zone markets; sure.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry Ninus but I disagree. First I don't look at it as me being entitled to anything. If I want to buy enhancements at any level I need to go out and run missions to earn the influence to buy them. They set one precident for 29 levels where as long as I have the cash I can buy anything I want and then at 30 ( well 32) all of a sudden I have to run a special mission to get access to the store? Face facts we can start buying SOs at level 22 so realistically even the post about them being "special" doesn't really hold water. If they are SO SPECIAL why don't I need to run a mission at level 22 to get them?

In my opinion, and that's all it is, it all goes back to the days when Stateman ran the place and was certain that as soon as we hit level 50 we were going to get bored and move on to another game. There were so many little traps (so to speak) designed to slow us down it wasn't funny. Case in point..

Until radio missions FINALLY emerged on COH every character had to run everywhere until level 14. AND back then there wasn't nearly as much content so you did almost all the missions any contact would give you.. and if you got real lucky MAYBE 1 or 2 of those were actually in the SAME zone as the contact. We spent more time running back and forth to contacts than we did actually running missions SLOW DOWN. - Done away with when they gave us radios and safeguards now anyone above level 5 can run 3 short missions. a safegaurd and have a Raptor Pack.

Before Wentworths and the entire IO system it wasn't at all uncommon for a player in the 30s to still be using a collection of TOs, DOs and IF they were lucky maybe a few SOs. We didn't have a way to earn enough to buy the good stuff so we could move faster. SLOW DOWN - obviously done away with by the IO and Wentworth sytems. I have 15 levels that already have several million in influence.

A Player hits the 40s and heads of to PI to battle AVs.. where are the majority of his other contacts aside from Tina Macintyre? Founders Falls and back then we had NO ouroborus Portal to get there so.. Hit the Ferry, end up in IP, get to the train, OH yeah I forgot back then the train didn't GO to FF .. Fly, teleport or RUN to FF and hit the contact. SLOW DOWN - Done away with by the Ouroborus portal which allows us to easily get from PI to Founders Falls along with IP, Atlas and Talos

Before the Ouroborus system started BADGERS would live at the debt cap, purposely allowing themsleves to be defeated so they wouldn't outlevel the contact that had a badge mission. In almost every case they'd end up doing that contacts story arc along with a number of individual missions before they ever saw that one for the badge. SLOW DOWN - fixed when we got time travel Not only did it allow us to play however and what ever we wanted and still get those same badges by traveling back in time it added even more badges for running time travel missions.

Oh and trading influence. Remember when the most you could transfer was 9999? Now what is is it? SLOW DOWN - fixed when they finally upped that amount and let us help ourselves and our friends by transferring influence from one character to another faster.

Everyone of these is an issue that someone, a LOT of someones, complained about here on the forums until it became obvious it needed to be fixed and eventually was fixed.

You are telling me that above level 30 having to run a special mission in order to buy enhancements above 30 level doesn't fall into that same category? That I have an Entitlement attitude? OKAY Yeah I do. Especially since, with the RWZ, we now have a way to completely get around that whole system. I can go there and NOT even talk to a contact just head straight to the store and buy anything I need or want. Yeah I think I, and everone else, is entitled to that same treatment anywhere in the game. I didn't go out and battle Rikti to help save the earth in order to buy enhancements there.. I stepped through a portal PERIOD. What makes the difference if I am saving Paragon or the entire earth from Nemesis or the Rikti? If I don't need to earn the right to buy in one place I shouldn't need to earn that same right any place else.

Like I said in my first post Its a Quality of Life thing. Unless you are a PL farmer living day and night in the AE building in Atlas getting to level 50 is enough of a challenge without having to either do without enhancements I need so I can stay of the GOOd team I found. or Asking everyone to stop running the missions we've been doing so we can run one from the store.. Oh and then I'll be holding us up a few more minutes while I buy stuff.

There are vets out there with 60 month badges and who knows how many 50 levels scattered over how many servers? I now have 14 myself on Virtue and just yesterday got my 42 month badge. I think we can safely assume at this point that the vast majority of players are NOT leaving just because they hit 50 with one character so that's it they are done. They have eliminated a LOT of those other issues I think it's time this one went away as well.
  19. [ QUOTE ]
You can also get the 35 and higher enhancements from the Midnighters and Cimerora, no mission required. Two more reasons why having those contacts demand you do something for them to get a common goody is a bit silly. You can also buy SOs with merits and tickets, though that arguably requires missions, just not directly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

True but then again are people doing THOSE missions just to earn the right to buy things or for a variety of other reasons? I run lot of task forces .. trying to get TF Commander on most of my characters (and don't ask how many that is.. let's just leave it at NC Soft won't sell me anymore slots.. 36). I am doing those Task Forces for the Badge, the eventual Accolade, XP (when applicable.. many are backtracking to pick up TFs they missed). Influence, Prestige, IO salvage and recipe drops. The fact that I end up with X number of merits I can turn around and use to purchase enhancements is just an added bonus and actually saves me from spending influence so I have more to buy IO enhancements or whatever.

AE Arcs.. I do for fun and the change of pace. Mostly I run them with friends or I run solo and rate arcs of friends I have made on the MA Arc Finder channel. Tickets are great and I have all but completely outfitted some characters with a new set of SOs using nothing but tickets... yeah for a while there I was running nothing BUT AE mission I am back to established content with a mix of AE these days. But I wasn't running those soley to get tickets and buy anything... okay I lie a bit and take that back until I had EVERY added map, costume and villain available I was running missions to get tickets to buy those LOL BUt NOT to buy enhancements. It's just another bonus.

I can even buy the explanation that at one point SOs were THE most powerful in game and they wanted us to earn them a bit. But as we all know these days IOs have taken that "special" spot as THE best enhancements and I don't have to do anything but show up with influence in hand and I can buy them at Wentworths. If they want to keep a little of the past here's an idea...

Get rid of the 5 different stores scattered over 2 zones (FF and Bricks) and put one store in each that. JUST like PI, sells all types. Then if we HAVE to have a mission to earn them at least everyone has the same mission and let's make it real simply .. If you do that mission in Bricks or FF you can then purchase SO enhancements in either zone.

Of course the other JOKE to this whole thing is that mission in PI. Now exactly how many people actually run around defeating every Rikti on that map? Okay NOW how many go in, find the glowie, and run like heck for the exit? Come on they even MAKE it almost too easy.. the Rikit, aside from a few on the outer edges and in the back, are all up high and the glowie is always on the ground. No matter where it shows up on the map you don't even need stealth to find it, click it and exit without battling a thing. There's a real challenge! LOL

    Deathsurge was cool.

So was the Kraken although my second attempt wasn't nearly as successful.

Those are the only two I've been a part of and beaten. We tried to take Babbage down during a Synapse but we just didn't have what it takes. After several minutes of fighting and neither side being hurt we gave it up as boring.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The Babbage encounter in a Synapse TF can usually be solved pretty quickly by using your global channels or coalition to give the location for the encounter and requesting backup. Granted I'm on a higher population server than you are (Virtue), but I can't remember ever being in a situation where at least three or four people didn't come to help.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yep that works on Virtue everytime. I just did the SYnapse TF earlier and as we headed into the mission that spawns him I made a broadcast on several globals I KNOW have a considerable number of badgers. As we exited I broadcast again but it wasn't needed.. There was already one entire 8 man team waiting to assist.
We had two Rads on the TF, including me, so between all that radiation and 16 people pounding him Babbage went down FAST.

A newer player on the Tf commented how it was amazing that all those people were there to help JUST like that. LOL I replied..

Just like that my butt. I fight a GM I have no problem screaming for HELP! Fact is we had had a pretty good team with a great mix of damage and controls and probably could have handled him ourselves but I always like to let the badgers know when he's available and I have never done that TF and not had at least 5 or more show up to assist.

Virtue the ROLE PLAY server .. we may talk a LOT but don't mess with us. We stick together
  21. Yeah I'd have to say Lusca as well. It's sort of like battling 9 Giant Monsters since each tentacle has the power to pound an entire team to bits and because of that 2 or 3 eight man teams are needed to succeed. At times it's tough even finding 8 people to form one GM team let alone 16 or more to take on the huge plate of unprepared Calamari.

Add the fact that after having to FIND the darn thing since it dives for cover and can resurface someplace else after each tentacle is dispatched .. and it pays out 2 Merits? The same as I can get with a 5 or 6 man team defeating Adamastor in DA and you can see why it's NOT the most sought after monster in game.

Of course I'm a little crazy I love GM battles so LUSCA, Eochia, Jurrasik or whatever if I am available I am there. LOL I fought Eochia 3 times in one day with my tank and two of those were dual battles taking on Jack in Irons as well. AND that was back BEFORE they starting paying out merits. I TOLD YOU I WAS CRAZY
  22. I am betting at some point this was probably brought up before but a quick search didn't help and I am in game so here goes.

The stores where we purchase TOs (if anyone does that at all), Dos, and SOs need a little revamping. I'm currently leveling a Blaster who just made 11 level running the Midnighters Club arc in Steel Canyon. At that level he is using a Raptor Pack with a 2 hour limit on available time. As I mentioned he just made 11 level and after training I hit the store to pick up a couple TO accuracy enhancers before I take on the COT rescuing crazy Lady Jane. Of course I discover the lowest level of ANY kind of enhancement I can purchase in Steel is a 15 level. So unless I want to waste several minutes of time and jet fuel I get to forget the enhancements and just go.. I am about 300 yrds from the mission and over half a mile (in each direction) from the Yellow line and a store I can actually use. At 10 level all my contacts, including the one's in the university, are in either Steel or Skyway .. the Dev's designed it that way. So why can't we buy what we need in the zone they send us to?

This is not the only zone this applies to either. Hit level 20 and head to Talos/IP and then make 21 and if you want to purchase a few DOs before making 22 and getting the chance to buy your first SOs and.. you know the answer you have to go back to Steel Canyon because none of the stores sell anything below 25 level enhancement. Just like the situation with my 11 level at level 20 all your contacts, the Midnighter Club arc excluded, are in Talos or Ind. Port.

Then it get's really fun above 30 where suddenly after 29+ levels of defending the city we now have to PROVE we are worthy of the store's business by running a mission before they will sell us anything. Okay like most I generally just accept the mission and then drop it so I can go ahead and buy what I need but there are times where I may not have that option available for a day or two and if I am on a team I can't stop everything JUST to run a mission to earn the right to be enhanced.

It's another one of those little time sinks built into the game to slow us down a bit by forcing us to run here or run there to get something we should be entitled to in the first place and I think they need to add it to the QoL issues that need fixing.

    1. If a zone is designed to be used by a player at a certain level then have every store in that zone sell every level of enhancement needed by any player in that range. OBVIOUSLY I am not suggesting that stores in Atlas Park or Steel need to start selling 50 level SOs .. players at that level, unless on 1 specific mission that takes them there, primarily hang out in PI.

    2. In Bricks, FF and PI do away with the mission requirement in order to buy enhancements. Realistically it's sort of stupid anyway. A level 32 player that wants to purchase 35s HAS to run missions but by level 37, if they access the zone, players can simply by pass the entire system and go to the RWZ to purchase anything from level 35 to level 50 enhancements of ever type. And in the RWZ there is NO requirement to run some mission before being allowed to buy them.

Okay enough .. I have COT to battle and an insane English woman to TRY and keep alive.

    Yes, it is extremely ridiculous.
I seriously think that since the PL'ing exploits became available there was a massive influx from a certain other MMORPG where the players don't behave as politely and are nowhere near as friendly as the average CoX player of old.
I have a feeling that this new crowd came because they don't think you can "really" play an MMORPG until you hit level 50.

Those of us that have been here for a while know that is not the case with CoX.
If you rush to level 50 in CoX, you missed the "playing" of the game.
CoX is about exploring the game environment as you progress.

Once you are level 50, pretty much everywhere except for the MA and the highest level zones aren't a challenge or worth taking the time to explore.

I can only hope that once they get to level 50 they take the time to make a new character and really play the game.

For any of you new players reading this. Here are somethings that I really think that you should do ::
<ul type="square">[*]Run the training/tutorial mission - read everything in it. This will help you out a whole lot. (Sure you might know a lot about another MMORPG, but you don't know the basics of CoX)[*]I strongly suggest running some missions with your contacts before you do anything else.[*] If you team up early on, do it with a team that is your level.[*]Around the time you hit level 10 and before level 17, go to the university in Steel Canyon and run the University arc to learn about IO's.[*]Before you start selling stuff on the market, talk to the Market Rep and read the info about the Market.[*]If you have questions, use the [Help] channel by typing /hc [message]. There are still those of us who will help you. - but if you don't know basics, you might want to start at the top of my list before asking. I know that's the first place I will send you if you are asking about information that is in the tutorial/training area.[/list]

I'd like to add on there, "Avoid the Sewers until you've done missions from your contacts."

The sewers are the gateway drug to MA PLing hehe.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Okay first allow me to disagree on the sewers. While I DO agree a brand new player should run some missions in AP or Galaxy to get a feel for the game .. running the sewers in no way automatically leads to constant PLing. It's another methood of teaming and a fast way to find yourself at level 5, 6 or even higher. Then off to KR to run radios and get your Raptor Pack. I frequently use the sewers to get a few powers and levels under my belt and have NO desire to sit in the AE building, or PI before it existed, and run the same mission over and over and over again.

Now to add to the advice:

Find an use the global channels to hook up with team mates your own level and run missions. While soloing is quite possible the game is designed for team work and you can level faster on a team. some good ones include: (Oh all of these are on Virtue BTW but similar ones exits on most servers)

virtuebadges09- If you like bright shiny things this channel broadcasts everything from Task Forces that are forming, players with a badge mission looking for team mates, to FARMS going after a particular villain group to earn an accolade.

Virtue LFG Alpha - a channel devoted to helping players find other players (their level) to team with. Also gets plenty of posts for TFs, Trials, and badges

Virtue TF - devoted almost exclusively to the forming of all the various Task Forces

Virtue Monster - a channel devoted to forming teams to take on the various Giant Monsters in zones such as Kraken (Perez Park), Babbage (Boomtown or Skyway when he spawns during a Synase TF), Lusca (IP), Etc

Have a question and no one seems to have the answer? as unusual as this is check out Paragon Wiki at

    http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page

It's a public web site devoted to providing information on just about all aspects of the game.

When all else fails ... ASK in broadcast. Its a very freindly community here for the most part and in almost every case you will get one or more replies telling you exactly what you need to know.

Have fun Be safe.. and for goodness sake get out of that AE building every so often and enjoy the game.

Finally, the "herding" was done one group at a time. Is that even herding or just wasting time?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Dang that brings flashbacks i once was in a team that did the same thing.

We moved one mob at a time and i was always saying why not just attack the entire mob right away or herd two or three mobs. No one listened to me but i got a tell from a fellow team mate who agreed and we both went and attacked the mob before they could herd. Did it piss them off? Yep. Did it go faster? Yep. I don't get why tanks always want to herd and things like that. I guess i see the rule as a tank more like a brute and that's just to take the hits, although i think brutes only do that just to hit more but same thing. So tanks please for heaven sake stop herding only ONE mob and actually do something. All this is my opinion so you guys don't need to agree are disagree

    [/ QUOTE ]

Okay I play tankers and herd . I also play with really GOOD herding tankers. Bringing one mob back for the team to dispatch is NOT herding that's pulling and even a Blaster or just about any AT with 1 long range attack can accomplish that.

HERDING is gathering several mobs together and packing them, nicely, in one spot (with all of them pounding on the tank) while eveyone else AoEs them to death. A Tanker can herd up to 17 minions/lieutenants, etc before he caps out.

Now on Invincible where everything is purple including the minions a Tanker pulling one large mob away from another to prevent a team wipe is a good thing. Pulling a FEW minions to one spot over and over is WASTING TIME. LOL Unfortunately like every other AT there are tanks out there that don't have a clue HOW to actually tank.
