Quote:Okay, serious question time. This one is primarily directed at Silencer7, but anyone can feel free to chime in.Quote:
What is it that makes an MMO a different social space than the real world? Why do normal standards not apply (or different standards apply, if you prefer to phrase it that way)?
Quote:In the MMO world, much of it is a public space shared by all. However, there do exist private spaces within the MMO world, private being defined as 'only able to be entered by an owner, member, or someone who has been invited.' In our MMO, spaces with varying degrees of privacy can be found in instances, arena matches, supergroup bases, global channels and teams. You can enter your own private spaces (for instance, by taking a mission) or create a space that has you and a few other people (for instance, making a global channel or team.) Just because you are in such a private space, however, does not insulate you from those outside the space; you can be sent a tell or email and receive it inside that private space.
Quote:Likewise, such private spaces exist in the real world, and communication can be sent into those private spaces, by cell phones, land lines, knocking on the door, et cetera. Most of the time, sending communications to those private spaces without knowing the people inside is considered to be rude, unless you have some sort of specific business with them. (No one I know likes getting a phone call or a knock on the door from some sort of salesperson, especially when you're otherwise occupied.)
Quote:as a mitigating factor, the MMO space has a lowered threshold of social interaction for strangers. Everyone who is playing has, presumably, at least some interest in the subject matter, and everyone is paying $15 a month for the chance to play the game and interact with others who are also interested in playing the game. This, incidentally, is why it is not rude to send a tell when you are recruiting for a team to people that show up on /search solo. You can presume that everyone who is playing the game is at least marginally interested in gaining experience, influence, etc. This is a social norm for the MMO.
Quote:It is one thing to ask to join in a private space when it is offered, either explicitly or implicitly. Explicit invitations range from a tell saying 'Hey, want to join a radio team?' to a broadcast saying 'Numina taskforce looking for three more, defender or tank preferred.' An implicit invitation would be, for instance, you talking about your supergroup on your team channel, and one of your teammates asks a few questions about it. The invitation is implicit when you are saying complimentary things about your group to an interested party, so it is not rude when that person says, 'That sounds like a neat group, can I join?'
Quote:But, when you see someone is on a team in the search window, it is not an explicit or implicit offer of a spot on a team. It just means that they are on a team. They could be teamed for many different reasons - they could be setting up an arena event, they could be running a costume contest, they could be having a supergroup mission night, they could be RPing, or they could be just running missions with a pickup group.
Quote:These are my views on the matter. I am interested to hear why an MMO's social space is different, why asking if you can join a team already in progress is a social norm, rather than a deviation from the norm and, hence, rude.
Somehow I figure all this will go in one ear, figuratively, and right back out the other but you said ANYONE can chime in so i did. -
Not to start a flame war but they erupt daily anyway... I don't see this as rude if its done politely. As an example last night in Sharkshead we were putting together a Silver Mantis SF. A 34 level Widow happened by and asked one of the team if she could join. The leader was desperately searching for 2 more to fill out the team and she was quickly invited to join. Now if someone sends a tell demanding you invite them to your team cause they are the most Uber whatever on the planet yeah that's rude. A simple "Any room on your team?" hardly seems the same.
That covered let me ask this.. You build teams, so do I, do you have a select group of friends that you team with constantly and never have a need for ANYONE to fill your 8 slots? Or do you do searches and send tells to players that fit whatever need you have at the time? I've gotten those along with Blind Invites while my "looking for a Team" feature was set to NO. I'm in a mission soloing surrounded by a mob I am trying to defeat and get a tell of worse that blind invite in the middle of my screen. So my question is which is ruder? "Do you have any room on your team?" or "We are doing 24ish level missions care to join?"
Someone mentioned it if you feel that strongly about it add something to your Search comments warning people NOT to send tells asking to join. Myself I never use search to build a team I advertsie in the globals and rarely have a problem filling 8 slots for anything from AV or GM battles, to TF/SFs, to just plain radios (although I rarely bother forming those since I can always find a team somewhere looking for a warm body to fill things up). I don't send tells I get them from players that have seen me advertising and want to join up.
As for the tag along with you and your girlfriend remark LOL I like that! One small difference though I rarely go on dates where I wind up in the middle of a street talking to some shady looking character and have a weapon in my hand along with a huge CRAB like device permanently attached to my back. My dates generally call and set things up and then show up at my house to drive me to dinner, a movie, or whatever. Now if we walked out the door and some guy jumped from out of the bushes and wanted to tag along I'd probably knock him out myself and then call the Police to take the Stalker lurking outside my apartment away. Hehehe On the other hand if I was a super hero in RL an as my covert contact was giving me an assignment another hero happened by and asked 'Hey that sounds sort of dangerous. Would you like me to tag along and help out?" I'd more than likely say yes :-D -
I think it all comes down to being a Villain without Super powers. During the Origins of Power arc you are sent to talk to Marshall Brass, the only Arachnos rep you chat with, and he covers the Natural powers just like Manticore covers them hero side. Sure our Soldiers wear armor, brandish weapons, etc but they HAVE to because aside from the physical training they go through to toughen them its all they have. Golden Roller and Positron cover the Technology briefs during those talk to missions. When you come down to it an SoA sort of combines a little tech (armor and weapons), some Science (Serum), and Natural (conditioning) so as you mentioned your a lot like an evil Batman LOL Years of training your body to be in peak condition and as the Joker put it "Where does he get all those fabulous toys?"
Now the one that sort of stumps me is, and I may be wrong, but Widows are considered natural too I think. Considering a Widow can become a Fortunata with Telekentic and Psychic attacks it seems more like they'd be Mutants like Sister Psyche on the Hero side. Night Widows have less of these powers but even they have attacks available that do PSI damage. My guess here is like the Warshades and Peacebringers hero side they wanted BOTH to have the same origin so the Soldier origin won out since obviously they have no mutant powers. -
hey I wouldn't care if i was the 9th or the 900th Happy B'day .. I'm a little over 6 months behind you and looking forward to it as well. I'd start rattling off found memories of my own but it's your moment so .. :-D Gratz and hope the next five are just as much fun.
-
Quote:Hmmm never thought of that. Now correct me if I am wrong but Fushionette is the President of that union isn't she? LOL I mean basically the woman has two special super powers.. 1) I can get captured by anyone and at anytime 2) I know I'm a blaster but I secretly wish I was a tank .. here watch me rush this mob and die!The Kidnap Victims Union apparently got fed up with all of the inefficiency and took matters into their own hands.
It would have been great if several hundred victims had followed you out to the door, though.
Oh I almost forgot the abilty to get lost, dazed and confused by horribly difficult things like the hand rail on stairs. "Where are you Taxibot Sara? Wait for me!" *rolls eyes and turns to go explain* .. "Walk around the nasty metal railing and try to keep up. I have Rikti to kill.. err defeat" lol -
Quote:Forbin Sweety he's not referring to scheduled maintenance Virtue has been having some serious CRASH problems on a daily basis for ohhh what is it now 5-6 days. Now.. the Devs are aware of it and it was been posted by a RED name that the issue is being looked into and a fix will be in place when they figure out why. Until then OP best I can say is grin and bear it. Happened to me a few days ago during a Silver Mantis SF. When the server finally came back 6 of the original 8 of us returned and completed it. Now keep in mind here folks we are not talking HOURS off line either... as soon as it crashes someone at NC is working to get it back. I think the day we did that SF it was down maybe 30 minutes. How about acting like an adult and not throwing a hissy-fit over one server going down when you can still play on the other ten. If you are one of the people that chooses to limit yourself to a single server then you have only yourself to blame when you can't play on the rare occasions a server is down for scheduled maintenance.
It's annoying when your in the middle of something like that but they will figure it out and correct it. Now before I completely lose my mind can someone tell me an easy way to find and defeat 200 Marcone Family Bosses? It's all I need for the accolade and I have been hunting off and on for 4 days and have 75 LOL We are talking RED side here people LOL -
Quote:Yeah welcome back and welcome to the new and improved post Cryptic/Post Jack COH/COV. Petitioning for anything used to be almost a joke.. IF you got lucky and had the time you might hear back from them and I can even recall one GM telling me I could always go back to my contact and simply drop the mission to auto complete. "I DON'T want to autocomplete I want the XP, INF, and prestige now find a way to let me continue." Grrrrlots of really neat stuff. Oroborus is cool, so much new things
but the thing that really made me post.... I had two incidents recently
1) NPC got stuck in a wall during a defeat all mission and I couldn't reach it
2) Task force got hung up on a mission and wouldn't advance when we completed the mission (it gave us the same mission over again)
I'm used to things in the past, I'd open a ticket, wait around for nothing, then go off and do something else. (restart the tf or mission) Then I'd get an email a couple days later saying something like "We looked for you but you weren't online so we're marking the ticket Resolved" :/
Anyway, these two things that happened, I opened a ticket and seriously, a GM popped up in under 5 minutes and set things moving again /cheer
I have no stats but I think a LOT more GMs exist these days and they know what they are doing. Things happen.. Knockback sticks a minion in a wall (as you described), a glowie somehow winds up inside one etc. Now the Devs know how to handle those things and do get there as fast as possible. Hey I team with a friend from California and two nights ago at 3AM Eastern time (midnight where she lives) we had a hidden glowie preventing us from spawning Mako to complete a story and the arc. GM was there in about the same time you mentioned five minutes and clicked the invisible glowie for us. Even stuck around and watched us take down Mako and congratulated me when I made level 45 in the process LOL Things still go wrong but they make a conscious effort to control and fix them.
hehehe I actually amazed a GM a while back on a Radio mission in Talos. I was supposed to rescue a kidnap victim and when I entered the building a bug had replaced all the villains with kidnap victims. THEY were the villain group but none of them was a valid target. Okay I shrug and head upstairs I find the actual kidnap victim I am supposed to rescue being guarded by.. you guessed it KIDNAP victims. I couldn't attack a single one so no way to rescue the victim and get a mission complete. I could have stepped outside, reset, and hopefully gotten the right villains next time but I wanted someone to SEE this. The GM arrived and I explained what was happening. He entered the mission and was amazed to see what I had found. He autocompleted it for me and we both submitted a bug report about the incident. LOL
Enjoy all the new content and other new QoL changes that have taken place while you were gone and again WELCOME BACK :-D -
Geez I HOPE not. That means before I can get a 3 mission arc from him that includes 2 "talk to" missions. I need to run another 13 actual mission and 5 more talk to missions from Mako? That's two story arcs and I'm almost level 47 now.. I'd be pushing 50 by the time I got to run Alan's mission and supposedly I can do it anytime after level 45.
I'm assuming he means I haven't picked and competed an inital patron arc. He does tell me to see Arbiter Rein and that's the contact that sets you on the path to gaining a patron by reading all the plaques. Like I said I did that at level 40 and have even done the second arc where I betray Mako for Arbiter Doas. -
Quote:Actually I always sort of liked the Manti TF maybe its just that I enjoy the challenge of taking on so many Paragon Protectors and their MoG. If I could change anything about it I would say we could lose Hopkins. He's sort of lame anyway and replace him with Countess Crey herself. Hey the villains get to battle her in a normal story arc but all we do is keep hearing about her. Let's bring that woman down once and for all! Of course that WOULD require some revamp of the story and that could provide added story content to explain WHY we are doing the TF to begin with. Maybe its the times we play or the servers but I've never really had a problem getting a 7 man team together for it.I'd love a revision of the Manticore tf. It's basically beat up Crey, beat up more Crey, and take down some Hopkins guys we've never heard of before.
Also, it's hard to assemble a full team for one(7 players); while the Numina tf only requires 4 to start.
No one has mentioned Sister Psyche's TF but I find that to be a good one and enjoy doing it in the 20's for levels and to work on my Tank Smasher badge.
I can't think of a reason for altering Moonfire .. nice mix of defeat alls and Defeat the leader, all takes place in Striga so no running all over creation and a great way to get a HUGE start on your Slayer and Silver Bullet badges.
Hess? Its short and sweet, has a good story and again you never leave Striga!
like I said before my biggest thing is 3 straight Council based TFs in a row between 22 and 30 is a bit much. Hey Devs you don't need to remove any just how about adding one with Tsoo, the Warriors or the Family so we have some options and to give them a little more game play.
As for the Shard.. I have to be honest I love the look of the zone but I did Doc Q once and it took 5 hours to complete (and that was with a team member with fly and recall friend.. namely ME lol). After that I really had no desire to ever do it again and that experience has sort of made me gun shy of trying the others. Its a great zone wth unique enemies FIX it! -
Okay Destines Ones I ran into this last night and it has me stumped. I hit level 45 and contacted Alan to get the last missions he has and was looking forward to battling Statesman. So I find Alan in the inactive area and call him and get this message:
Quote:Now I HAVE completed all of Alan's other arcs, along with Brick Johnson's and Fortunata Hamilton's plus I have not only completed Mako's Patron arc but the arc after it where you stop him from gaining the power of the Leviathan. In other word YES I have my Bloodletter badge and NO I don't have any of Alan's old arcs outstanding. But everytime I try to talk to Alan I get that message. The only thing I haven't done is take any Patron powers yet.. I probably will at level 47 but frankly I had a couple more powers from my primary and secondary powers I wanted more. You either need to complete the missions your Patron has for you, or do previous work for me before I can put you on this task. If you have not completed your Patron path, go and speak with them in Grandville. There you will find Ghost Widow, Captain Mako, Black Scorpion or Scirocco. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, speak with Arbiter Rein in the Spider City neighborhood of Grandville.
So is Alan actually telling me because I didn't pick a POWER he liked I can't fight Statesman and complete all of his arcs? Anyone else experience this problem? Should I petition to get help from a GM or what? I certainly hope Patron Powers don't determine me getting mission from a contact. I could have sworn my build was MY BUSINESS. -
I agree with Master Blade the biggest area that needs improvement is the Shard TFs or at least Doc Q. It's not unusual to see teams spend 5 hours or more on that and I still know of teams, yes recently, that have split the thing over 2 days because RL made finishing in one impossible. Split it into 2 portion like Posi or revamp and cut back on missions a bit.
Synapse? Synapse isn't bad as it stand and can usually be accomplish (non SPEED RUN) in about 2 hours. Three straight all but identical defeat alls in a row is tedious and could be fixed some way and definately lose one or BOTH those patrols.. they are nothing but time sinks designed to make the thing longer.
While it's not hard and doesn't take long, if your team is well organized, I'd vote to do something with Numina. It's a TF supposedly designed around DE but we spend more time racing around almost every zone in the game defeating 10 of this, 20 of that, ect. Sure on an 8 man team that sets up right it can be done quickly but what the heck am I doing in Atlas Park battling Clockwork when I am on a Devouring Earth Task Force? LOL Oh and while its not an epic problem .. since Faultline got it's make over 20 Vahz there is probably one of the more difficult ones to get through quick. Hey Devs how about a major rewrite and lose the defeat alls and actually have us battle DE? :-D
The rest are fine as is although I admit it would be nice between 20 and 30 level to battle something besides COUNCIL on a TF. Moonfire followed by Hess followed by Citadel or in any order depending on your level gets a little mind numbing. First time i did that I didn't even want to run a Council radio mission for a while I was so tired of looking at them. We have no TF that pits us against Tsoo, Warriors, or the Family in game so how about at least ADDINg one in that level range that involves them? -
I don't want to start a huge flame war and I don't really think Angel Summoning is a good idea for COH.. as mentioned solo pets aside summoning is mostly an MM thing (with exception like ILL, etc hero side as pets not minons) and unless they are fallen angels explain why they are working for a villain?
Biggest reason I see why NC Soft won't go for this is the whole Politically Correct thing.. Heaven forbid (did she just say heaven LOL) we have angels in game someone might take offense. Okay that said then explain why we seem perfectly willing to acknowledge the existance of hell through Demon summoning but not a heaven? Personally I really don't mind one way or the other and I love my DS/DM that thought just sort of popped into my head as I read this post. Unfortunately for the OP for the reasons I stated in paragraph one along with the whole PC issue I doubt you'll see angels in game any time soon. Hey do what the one person suggested and create a character that's an angel. -
I agree with the merit count. Running both halves of the new Posi is faster than running the old one was and much simpler and easier since your not running to just about every zone in the lower game but dropping from 90+ merits to 26(for completing both halves) seems very low. I've done a number of the Posi sets now and the average time I've seen is about 90 minute or so for each half. I've also done the OLD Posi and with NON speed runs was able to complete that in less than 4 hours. The huge drop in merits foir essentially 1 hour less time invested does seem extreme especially since I can do a Synapse in under 2 hours and make 58. Granted now both halves essentially keep you in one zone, part 2 does run one mission in Steel before moving to Faultline, but the two halves combines run you through 14 missions (including talk tos) and the old Posi was 17 (including talk to mission and 2 patrols). A drop of close to 70 merit for doing 3 less mission in around one hour less time is pretty extreme
Now unless they changed it there is a way, even with them all in black, to determine who is who when facing your clones. They actually have titles above their heads and those pretty much mirror your title as well.. right dow to the SG you belong to. Okay so if your on an all SG team or NO one on the team belongs to any SG it may be tougher but I was able to locate my clone each time using that method. LOL -
Quote:I'm no angel.. but I also don't start too many threads that will probably end in a flame war
OK... so I'll still offer advice since it's out there.
Ara's Practical Guide to PL boredom blues:
- Don't PL.
If you just gotta:
- AE. Sure you'll be highlighted in one of those AE Baby videos but you'll have a 50 -and- famous!
- Watch television during. You don't need to interact with other people when you can just jimmy up keywords in a House marathon as macros to run your fire imps.
- Team with ********. The fastest PL'rs usuallly are. Ever notice that? (shout out to Z, B and L but not M.. he'd smack me back to level 1)
- Pay a small child. Summer is coming up and American children tend to be spoiled and lazy. You'll be teaching them rudimentary economics early in life.
- Post in forums for like-minded folks.. oh wait. D'oh.
:-D /signed
To the OP .. there are teams out there now, actually playing the game, that are running at +4 X8 diifficulty do you honestly think your low level character is earning more XP sitting at the door of a mission while your tank slowly pounds its way through a 2 man radio mission? On higher levels characters I can join an ITF and in 90 minutes gain a level, a ton of salvage and potentially a rare purple recipe. Stop torturing yourself and get out there and team.. Its more fun anyway. :-D -
I know what you mean and I too get nostalgic and think back to MONTH one. I was on COV and hooked up with a great VG small but very friendly and helpful The two leaders were college aged and lived together and they took me in and showed me how to survive and play. Sadly we lost touch a number of years ago. They just sort of diappeared and I was never sure if it was just a lose of interest in the game or they graduated, got jobs and din't have time for COX anymore. I hate to admit it but that was over 3 years ago and that group doesn't even exist anymore plus I'd be hard pressed to recall eacatly what their characters looked like now.
Unfortunately the idea of statues is not a new one. A while back someone even suggested that EVER 50 level should be "entitled" to a statue somewhere in the city. Now I am closing in on my 60 month badge and have 2 accounts now because NC Soft won't let me buy anymore on the first one. I have Twenty-two 50 levels and about 10 more in the 40s between the 2 account and I am just ONE player. To accomplish what this person wanted they'd need to create zones JUST to store the statues because if they tried to place all those in the ones we PLAY in you wouldn't be able to move. I realize you are talking about honoring a few good close friends but human nature is human nature and as soon as one character gets a statue, for whatever the reason, ever single player in game will want one too. Okay maybe not everyone personally I don't care if I have a single statue anywhere much less 22 and counting. That thread led to a small flame war, BIG SUPRISE, and I never heard anything more about it. And obviously no one has a statue of themselves in ATlas park or any other city zone so my guess is the Devs said no. Honestly I wish there was some way to honor the players we respect most. I'd definately lobby to get a statue of my SG leader from the Taxibots. Back before newspaper mission and rapptor packs he and one friend got an idea to HELP other players and turned it into an SG. At one point the Taxis had a garage (what we call our base) on every server and we took turns standing watch at the gate to Atlas in the Hollows TPing players to safety and to mission. He's a good friend, a good husband to his wife and about to be come a dad for the first time. Shhhh don't tell him I just wrote this it would embarass him :-D
Its a nice idea but I have a feeling the answer from the Devs will probably be no. I guess the best we can do is remember good friends past and present our minds and honor them with a smile when we do something in game that stirs one of those old memories. -
Me look up in sky Sun is right above head and stomach growling.. it time for lunch. Later me look again and sun very low almost touching hills to west.. time to log off fancy magic box at work and me go home. At home stomach growl again .. time for dinner. Dinner done and all chores finished.. time play COH/V on personal magic box me have at home Later it very dark outside and me very sleepy ..time go bed. LOL
Like most I few each character as starting around if not at the same time in sort of flashback mode. I don't really view levels as years as such just a normal progression of the game. After all unless I use my costume slots to do so its not like my character ages. At 50 level she looks the same way she did at level one when she arrived wide eyed and innocent and on the steps of Atlas Park as a level 2. And to anyone that knows me and my frequent use of free costume slots just be quiet hehehe .. okay so my FIRST character on COV changed looks so often before I found one I really liked members of my on Villain Group didnt recognize her and kidded me constantly about it. But she's 50 level now and not a single grey hair :-D -
Quote:Originally Posted by DecorumI run it every single time on every character. I like entering the city at Level 2 with two big insps to sell in my pocket.Quote:Ditto. And two damage TOs to sell so that I can afford the posting fee for the insps.
As for the OPs suggestion I can't agree with it. First of all you don not learn everything there is to know to play the game effectively in the tutorial. SAM TOW made an excellent suggestion a while back. When you exit Breakout or Outbreak you don't automatically arrive in Atlas or Mercy you end up in a classroom setting where they cover things like.. "There are trains (or Ferrys) located in many zones that will allow you to travel quicker to another. You'll find them on you mini map designated by a DOT like this-->" THAT would make sense for a new player. Secondly I realize there are players out there that may only get to play a few hours a week and could possibly still be LEARNING the game after 3 months but a larger majority play at least a few hours several nights a week or more. Now I took a character from level 1 to level 50 in less than 6 week playing just that way. I did task Forces and Trials. I played on Pugs and with SG friends and just kept playing that ONE character until DING. Six weeks is less than 2 months and a player that has a 50 level (at least one that didn't get it before the nerf sitting in the AE building in ATLAS PARK and at 50 had no clue how to get to Steel Canyon cause some one JUST told him there was a tailor shop there and he could get another outfit) has pretty much learned most if not all they need to play the game. Granted there are are exceptions to any rule and I have seen players with a ton of Vet badges that still act and play like they have been here for 3 weeks. LOL
While I don't mind running through it again, even after almost 5 years, for the badge and the little perks (Enh and Insp) I'm sure a lot of players could care less about doing it again and again and again as they work through the altitis that many have when they first arrive here and start playing the game. Hey after all that time I am tired of having to run to Dave Wincott when I click my first contact in Kings Row. I'm tired of being sent back to Kings Row to CHAT with the Field Rep about upping the difficulty of my mission when I am in Steel Canyon trying to coax the Spelunker badge out of a contact. Since I have never had the slightest desire to PvP I am sick to death of being sent to see ever PVP zone liason as soon as I hit the appropriate level. Security Chiefs? Yes I am keenly aware that I am a 7 level now and that Perez Park exist and NO I don't want to run in there and possibly DIE trying to defeat 10 COT. Uh huh yeah I know all about Boomtown and unless a TF send me there I have no reason to step inside.. no thanks I don't feel like hunting 10 Clockwork in there GIVE ME AN ACTUAL MISSION! lol Whenever possible I drop those missions and move on but until they come up with a new way for the new players to learn those things the annoyance will continue.
PLing? someone else mentioned it. Do you honestly think a 10 minute stroll through Outbreak seriously slows down a character that wants to be PLed? Hero side if you don't try for the Isolator badge you can run through that in 5 minutes when you know what your doing and stop reading text. If they belong to an SG with teleporters 3 minutes later they can be in PI begging for a team. -
Quote:Ha! It's basically slotting up a power like Power Thrust to maximum KB, going to Atlas and seeing how far (and accurate, if you want) you can punch them down the street.
It's fun to watch them fly. I've gotten one to almost under Atlas from the gates/fence before. That was loads of fun!
Hehehe Okay I HAD to check back and see what the answer was. That does sould like fun. -
Base building.. I can spend hours stacking desks and such to make the base look good. I MUST love this I am the Archetect/Engineer for 3 different SG Hero side and 2 more on COV. LOL
Using Ninja Run and see how far I can tavel without actually touching ground/road .. hopping from building to building etc (as long as my feet don't touch ground trash cans and such count. :-D
I Definately like costume designing and I tend to keep tinkering. At one point my first year on game I had changed my outfit and look so many times the members of my VG didn't recognize me unless I was close enough for them to read my name floating above me,
Being a Taxibot. Over the years nothing has been more fun and led to more friendships than standing around in the Hollows or at the Tailor in Steel and just giving players a free lift where they needed to go. I've had players I don't even know IM and give me a /e hug and says "That's for saving my butt more than once in the Hollows back in the day" :-D
Keeping in touch with good friends. I have turned downs teams, TF, etc when asked with the reply "No thanks I am chatting with my friend at the moment. Good luck!"
Exploring zones and finding those nice little spots tucked away that a lot of people miss. I like the little floating "islands?" you find around Ouroborus. The Shard has some really neat spots as well and even Perez Park has some very pretty spots.. if you can just clear out the Villains hanging around them LOL
Darn I almost forgot to ask. Decorum I have a pretty good idea of HOw it's played but exactly what is Hellion Golf and are there any rules? hehehe -
Jam I know WHY it was created I am just stating a trend I have seen on teams I have joined. They don't seem to care about Debt like people used to because patrol XP will eat it up anyway. True and I myself have gone to bed with debt knowing that by the time I relog it will have disappeared. All I am saying is why WASTE it eliminating debt when if NO ONE dies it lets you level faster? Its been mentioned here yeah no team needs a healer but having one, a GOOD one, is not a BAD thing and I have seen Global chat conversations on Virtue where they made it sound like Empathy was the WORST powerset imaginable and they would never take and EMP on any team they ran. lol The thought always runs through my head fine.. My Ill/Emp has Recall Friend and Superior Invisibilty have fun on that TF without a Stealther ... I'll be over here helping a team that does appreciate what I have to offer.
-
My first 50 was Taxibot Sara2.0 and ILL/Emp Controller. I try to monitor my team mates at all times and never play without the team list showing. I do NOT believe in just putting healing Aura on Auto and sitting back because "My job is done". Fort is double slotted for recharge and I can use it about every 35-36 seconds so I am constantly going down the list giving it out as fast as possible CM recharges so fast I always make sure everyone gets a does and the two Buff Aura I fire off as they recharge. Now Illusion doesn't have a LOT of attacks but even on large teams I will Confuse as fast as possible.. hey if they are confused and battling one another they aren't damaging MY team before they die thay are damaging their own. If someone get into trouble I use Heal other and if its a messy battle and I see a number of players heal bar dipping I will fire off my Healing Aura.. better to cure a little damage now than a LOT a little later. Like I said i don't keep that Aura going constantly because frankly its as waste of END.. If everyone is at 95-100% of full health why amd I healing when I could be attacking? I DO take the REZ and Yes I realize that unless someone dies its useless but if someone dies while we are battling the AV do you want them laying there useless or back in action helping take down the beast NOW? I can afford to "waste", if that's your opinion of Rez, a power to ensure they can.
I am proud of the badges I have earned for healing they signify a lot of hours having fun on teams and keeping my team mates in the fight but if they gave out badges for buffing I'd have just as many if not more. I am NOT a healer I am a Controller I will provide support with my Empathy, Radiation, Thermal, or Kin powerset and provide as much damage and control as my other has to offer. And YES I do have Defenders or Controller that use all of those along with DM. I have battled every GM in game, For the life of me one day I will figure out with AV I missed in Maria's set (I have 12 of 13) and complete that badge requirement LOL As a Taxibot, prior to Radio mission, I hung out in the Hollows and TPOed, Healed and Buffed countless low level players trying to get past Dave Wncott's suicide missions (10 Outcast and 10 Trolls back when the mob sizes were way to large to solo for many ATs) and I don't recall a single player telling me they didn't appreciate or need my "heals". No team needs a healer but a Controller or Defender that KNOWS how to use their powersets and provides whatever support is needed at the time (heals. buffs or both) can make things run a whole lot smoother.
Does that make sense? Oh I also have TWO 50 level Plant/Rads so if anyone wants a team mate that nails everything to the floor and has them glowing green while they take damage let me know. :-D -
Hi and welcome. Now not to overwhelm you since your new but during the STF you repeatedly ignored the taunts of the tank to come over and give my Ill/Emp Controller gentle little love taps (sending her to hospital several times). So does the Black Scorpion have a bit of a crush of taxiBot Sara2.0 or no? LOL Just joking and glad to have you joing the Dev team. Please say they have no plans to hire anyone and name the Infernal as many times as my Rad/Rad has helped defeat him I will never be safe in game again :-D

Oh so many but let's see...
Frist year in game I joined in December and was just in time to be awarded a brand new Jingle Jet. As I leveled my character I wondered now I have this wonder jet pack why would I waste powers to get FLY or SS? Of course 30 days later the jet went poof and I took my travel power (FLY) somewhere around level 20.
Same Mastermind character, I started on COV, hit 30 something level and was passing through Sharkshead. I spotted the Ghost of Scrapyard with no strikers for support and thought. Hey I and 30+ level now and thats 20 something GM I can take him! I have since learned the sutble intricate workings of GMs automatically con at the same level as whoever attacks them.
More recent same as a number I have seen here. I was at Wentworths and was putting a rare bit of salvage up for sale. Checked the going price for it and THOUGHT I typed in 10 million but in my haste I missed a zero and sure enough someone out there looking to get something cheap got it for 1 Million.
Of course there have been Mis Tells that have left me blushing even sitting here at home staring at the keyboard and any number of other goofy mistakes one makes when they try to play after too much work and too little sleep. LOL -
While its can be annoying its not completely new. There have been, and still are, lower level missions where you go to stop a fight between the Hellions and Skulls. The Hellions were pretty much static but the Skulls just sort of wandered and, with my luck, on more than one occasion managed to wander into Aggro range just as i finished off the last Hellion and was practically out of end.
When they wander into one another its a pain but actually I find it more realistic. I mean come on your in a warehouse gaurding some kidnap victim and waiting on the ransome. So you stand in one psot for hours pounding you fist into the palm of your other hand? or aside from the guys actually gaurding the victim do you wander around and even check on things to make sure no pesky hero is trying to sneak in and rescue your prize?
Maybe they can come up with a way to make roaming mobs avoid one another and solve the problem until then if they are in roaming mode just take the time to wait for them to seperate. -
Yeah I had this same thing happen the other night with my Demons. I went ding as the first of a mob dropped and suddenly all my pets dropped dead. nothing like standing there with basically 2 whip attacks and Air Superiority while a huge mob drools over the prospect of tearig you limb from limb.
Quote:LOL"Hey Gratz on the new level! We've devised this new system to make leveling easier for you. All your pets are dead so after that quick trip to the hospital stop by the Arbiter and add those new slots or that new power you've been longing for. Don't thank us its just part of the job" signed COH Marketing.
I had good support, acted quickly resummoning, and no ill effects but I sure hope they straighten that out soon.
