I guess I got mine after they removed any "attack" feature but my buff pet has never rushed past me to attack anything. I have faced mobs where I'd discover at least one member after the pet. Using my SoA Crab as an example if anyone is stupid enough to attack the pet while I am pouring bullets into his buddies it doesn't bother me a bit. LOL The recharge time on them is very short and after everything is gone I can simply recast and move to the next mob.
They do come in handy at low level adding a bit more defense but by the time you get into the 20 and 30 your hit points and potential defenses have improved to where it's just a nice little bonus.. Certainly not anything that will make the difference between life or death. :-D -
I have to agree that Red side is much harder to accumulate Merits. While it may seem like COV has an advantage with a few short arc early on the Task Forces and Trials on COH vastly outdistance what's available to villains
COH
Positron TF one, 10-15 level, 11 merits
Positron TF two, 11-16 level, 15 merits
Synaspe TF, 15-20 level, 25 merits
Sister Psyche TF, 20-25, 50 merits
Moonfire TF, 23-28 level, 32 merits
E. Hess TF, 25-30 level, 19 merits
Citadel TF, 25-30 level, 40 merits
Manticore TF, 30-35 level, 32 merits
Katy Hannon TF, 30-34 level, 9 merits
Numina TF, 35-40 level, 36 merits
Cave of transcendance Trial, 12-15 level, 8 merits
Eden Trial, 39-41 level, 7 merits
Abandoned Sewer Trial, 38-40 level, 29 merits
---------------------------------------------------------
13 TFs/Trials for a total of 313 (only running each one time!)
Tarikoss SF, 15-20 level, 13 merits
Silver Mantius SF, 20-25 level, 42 merits
Oper. Renault SF, 25-30 level, 24 merits
Ice minstral SF, 35-40 level, 26 merits
----------------------------------------------------------
4 SFs for a total of 105 merits (only running each one time)
This doesn't include respec trials which are available on both sides or the ITF which both sides can start doing above level 35 in the coop zone.
Also from 40 on up Red side has the Lord Recluse and Baraccuda SFs while Blue has Statesman's TF, Doc Q, Sara Moore, justin Augustine, and Faathima the Kind TFs adding eben MORE oportunities for merits. And don't forget while red side may start story arc off sooner by level 20 there are plenty of contacts out there on COH handing out arcs as well. I also left off the Lady Grey TF/SF here since its available to both in the RWZ.
Someone already mentioned on COH there are 13 zones that give up 5 merits each while only 7 exist on COV and Atlas Park, Galaxy City, Kings Row, Steel Canyon, Skyway City, the Hollows, Faultline are all easily achieved by anyone above 20 level so by then a HERO on blue side has picked up as many merits from exploration badges as a VILLAIN can when they are near 50 and can get the ones in Grandville.
COV has its share of advantages.. fewer zones means less running to get to missions, etc but collecting merits hardly seems like one of them. I have a fairly new Brute at level 24 that has around 70 merits, not bad by red side standards since she hasn't done any SFs yet. A Tank or Scrapper on COH could do both Positrons, Synapse, and Sister P and have 101 without ever doing a single arc from any contact. -

Quote:I think that's an excellent idea I also still see no real need for a huge ROOM or entire base to do this in. Could be something as simple as a terminal similar to the ones used to view and join arena battle. The difference would be instead of a series of potential battles to join each player would have a screen listing all their characters:Might be possible to have the cake and eat it too... since the overall goal of a user-interface is to present information to players, I don't think there would be anything to stop choosing between a Classic Interface and a 3D UI system.
Name | Server | Zone | Skill Level | Alighment
Taxibot Sara2.0 | Vitrue | Steel Canyon | 50 | Hero
Operative Tessa | Virtue | Cap Au Diable | 50 | Villian
and so forth.
Click on the character you wish to switch to and a pop up screen appears asking if you really wish to switch to said character (in case someone hits the wrong name) and then a teleport style screen appears and when you reappear you've switched from character A to character B. the terminals could be placed almost anywhere.. Pocket D, Wentworths/Black Market, Arenas, near trainers, in stores, and could even be an option gived to include in SG bases. The terminal already exists and the information I listed is nothing you can't see about anyone on your friend's list or even by doing a current player search. All they'd need to do is figure the coding for the switch. -
Quote:And while we are at it why are you limiting it to 32 characters when between Vet rewards and purchased slots anyone can have up to 36 characters on any server?
Uh, what about Union, Defiant, Vigilance, and Zukunft?
Also...
http://api.ning.com/files/1jubPugz8R...icfacepalm.jpg
I'm also curious are you actually talking about an SG base with 12 or more rooms devoted to nothing but changing characters without logging completely off? The smallest plot available is 8 by 12 and only nine 2 by 2 rooms can fit including a secret entrance. Now using a small 1 by 2 room (similar to the smallest workshop of teleport room) this can be increased but unless these rooms are FREE (highly unlikely) that's an awful lot of prestige for an SG to shell out just to switch characters without logging off. How about instead of a base a building similar to the AE ones we have now in every zone that any character, In an SG or not, can enter and use to perform this switch?
Also with Going Rogue a little more than a month away why limit it to hero to hero or villain to villain switches? After GR there is a very good possibility that a hero, say a Scrapper for example, has become a Vigilante and while his AT and powersets are Heroic in nature he could easily have logged off last in the Rogue Isles. Doesn't seem that difficult to me IF they come up with something along these lines to make it so you can switch to ANY character and would simply appear in the same location you logged that character off in last. So your SoA Crab is a Rogue and the last time you played you logged off in the Midnighter's Club in Steel Canyon. Your on a Brute and head to the Personel building in Cap and switch to your Crab and after a short changing screen you simply find yourself in Steel Caynon in control of your Crab Spider. -

Virtue is great and all but here, there is a really bad case of entitlement and drama. I attribute this to RP because some people get REALLY into their characters and I mean creepy levels of into it. So if you don't act like their character is god and the best thing ever they will hate you. Drama comes in all parts of an MMO but the added drama of the above said RP side is just something Virtue has alone. Of course someone will jump on me saying, "I have never seen this, so you are wrong." My point is it DOES happen and it MIGHT affect you. If you do not RP well then you wont have to deal with it at all really, but you still might get pulled into it by making friends with someone who has made an enemy out of a "popular" RPer.
Also if you have a thing against cat girls, like me >_>..., you might feel the need to jump through the internet and throttle some people at some points during your Virtue career.
"I am NOT a drama queen! Why do you hate me so much?" LOL Okay so it's true some RPers do take themselves a BIT too seriously here... I personally don't RP much at all so every single character I have sounds like me. Tips to avoid Virtue RP drama..
1. Stay away from the area under the statue of Atlas in Atlas Park. Pay no attention to the huge line of players all waiting for the next costume contest and quickly hit the Sewers with a new character. On a good sewer team you can emerge in King's Row above 7 level and ready to start running radios for your Raptor Pack
2. Unless the Winter or Valentine Event is running stay far, far away from Pocket D. This dark place is home to the serious RPers and you can find them there even at the oddest hours of day or night.
3. While RP does take place in other locales it is spotty and easy enough to avoid. If you see people in local chatting about their "super hero high school, etc".. Simply click on Ninja Run and get as far away as possible
Seriously.. the good points, including the global channels you want to find just about anything that's happening, have already been covered. I just pasted the 54 month mark as a VET and while I started on Infinity I moved here a LONG time ago and have no desire to leave. Welcome to the funny farm and remember Cat girls have feelings too so try to be nice and toss them a fish or a ball of yarn before moving away slowly to avoid startling them. :-D -
Quote:I agree AND disagree with you. Most of the time YES a team should stick together and help each other to excel and survive. That's what being a part lof a team is all about. But as mentioned sometimes the team is so overpowering it just makes sense to split and take things out faster. I ran a Moonfire TF a while back like this. We had two good tankers, plenty of Controller buffs/debuffs and lots of damage. We broke into two teams and quickly moved through those defeat alls at the beginning with only 1 death.. OKAY A BLASTER should always WAIT for the tank before charging headfirst into a mob designed for 8 players LOL He learned quickly and it never happened again.Ok small rant. My latest pet peeve on teams has been the "one man armies", people who seem to have such an elevated self-worth they seem to ignore the fact they are on a team or even worse act as if the team is only holding them back.
They rush ahead on their own and start soloing, even when most of the team hasn't even arrived. This is only fine if you are in a horribly slow team with a few airhead members. Otherwise its just plain rude I think.
Sure its *great* for them, but then the team isn't working as a single coherent unit.
Also they tend to seperate from the team, and at the same time lead a few poor individuals away who no doubt can't survive on their own like they can. Then the rest of the team has to mop up the mess as they push on.
Its really annoying, I like my teams to work as a team, not as a bunch of over-enhanced over-ego'd group of individuals because that only leads to deaths and sours the mood.
/Shield scrappers are the worst at this with their insta-nuke power, or Illusion/ Controllers who run to the end of the mission and start trying to solo.
Anyway I will end my rant here before I go on too much.
I don't mind people who are IO'd out, I have a few myself. But when you enter a team, play as a team. It doesn't matter how good you think you are, if you are trying to run off and solo then you are making it harder for the rest of us.
I also don't know who you team team with or what ATs and powersets you personally play but singling out /SD scrappers and ILL/ Controllers as being HORRIBLE for charging off on their own is a bit out of line. I personally play both of those and my ILL/EMP, ILL/THERM and ILL/RAD controllers never leave the team unless the leader asks me to move ahead in Superior INV and teleport to the mission objective.. Yeah I actually TAKE recall friend on any ILL character so I can HELP the team not to show off. Scrappers are scrappers and they have been rushing ahead and trying to see how much they can kill for as long as the game has been in existance.. I personally stay with my team and see my job as .. Bosses first, Lieutenants next and then minions since I have arguably the most damage on the team. I realize not every scrapper plays with that mentality but lumping us all into one category is unfair
And let's not limit things to scarppers or ILL... I was on a team with a Fire/Kin as leader. he insisted we HAD to find a tank and took almost 5 -10 minute searching for one before we started running missions. Once inside I think everyone on the team wondered why we had waited so long since our fearless leader constantly rushed past the tanker so he could show off just how fast and effective his Fire Imps could kill things. The Tank quit before we finished a single mission and when we got back outside and the leader started seraching for another TANK.. the entire team quit. I've done a Master of LRSF where the Brutes had us all hiding in a corner while they ran around killing thing cause "Heaven forbid we let the rest of you play you might die and ruin everything." I was on my 50 level CRAB Soldier with IOs in every slot, Hit points comparable to a scrapper, Damage comparable to a Blaster and Defense some Tanks/Brutes would envy. Why in heavens name was I hiding?
Especially since MY defenses add 10% to THEIR defense which one assume would make them less likely to die and ruin the master's run. DUH There are good and bad players on every AT and TRYING to use every powerset available. You may have run into more bad ILLs and /SDs than anything else but it doesn't make those "THE WORST" by any means.
If your the leader and anyone on the team is doing things that make the team suffer.. Kick them and let someone else have a chance for better XP/INF. If it's not your team so what i do.. QUIT and find another one or BUILD one of your own. -
What Kitsune said! LOL My DS/DM's profile actually says she is from the same dimension as Infernal so if HE can run around Paragon City casting demons to do his bidding then she can too! Going Rogue will cause a LOT of raised eyebrows from certain players.. "What is HE doing here? He has badges claiming he's Positron's Ally. So why is he robbing banks in Cap?"
Hey according to Canon lore Malaise started as a criminal and was helped to control his mind by Sister Psyche becoming a hero. And if I am not mistaken at some point he also crossed back over the line and returned to his evil ways. Sirrocco actually has an exploration badge in Atlas where he helped to battle the Rikti [Undefeated] before turning bad and winding up one of Recluse's trusted Lieutenants. So changing sides and alignments is nothing all that unusual and I'm sure everyone will get used to hords of demons trailing behind Rogue MMs in Kings Row or PI quickly. -
Quote:Really, this. Right-click->Delete Recipe. Hooray, I have defeated the gadget recipe menace! I gain 3,628 XP and 2 mithril platemail!
Plan 2 .. Mission is over. I have 4 new gadget recipes I don't need and at this point every character I own has them as well thanks to the new email system. I pass near a store on way to next mission .. stop briefly and sell gadget BACK to NC Soft for 1000L, 2000L or whatever. Slots free up and I am off to look for new and better recipes. :-D -
Quote:You say that like its a BAD things? :-DSupergroups provide a base with easy access to the other zones, and personal storage.
That's about it.
The bases I run have IO stoage and crafting capability (Yes I know that's available without them but it does mean from ANY zone all you need to do is get to the portal and you can carft)
Enhancement storage.. I have crafted and stored hundreds of basic IOs for 25-50 level and have them available for members to use (no recipe needed, not bidding for recipes or salvage just grab and go)
Inspiration storage .. 8 collectors with 100 each of ever type inspiration and all tier 3s, (very handy for lower levels or anyone about to face an AV or GM)
Time Travel... sure you can do that in Ouroboros but take the mission in base and teleport straight to the zone the mission is in NOT to the contact.
Teleport to every zone currently available in game.. sure between the Ouro portal etc this isnt quite as big a deal as it used to be but hey any addition method to get from point a to point b is a GOOD thing.
Infirmary with Robo Surgery .. considering all the Teir 3s I store anyone that dies on a TF and DOESN'T rez at base to stock up on any they may have used is slightly crazy LOL
Add in the social atmosphere and potential for team mates and that's what I try to provide. OH did I mention we have enough prestige to pay the rent for about the next 40 years? So play in SG mode if you want or shut it off and add INF to your stash.. doesn't bother me a bit. LOL
SGs are by no means a manditory thing. I know players that have 50 levels that have never joined on and do just fine but a well thought out base can assist members and a GOOD SG also adds a steady supply of team mates. -
I think one of my favorite moments was the 5th Anniversary AV/GM invasions. 5 or more teams of heroes rushing from zone to zone to battle Lord Recluse, Black Scorpion. Ghost Widow, Capt. Mako, Scirroco, Adamaster, Kraken, Jurrasik, the Winter Lord and everything else they threw at us. I often wonder if any brand new one levels arrived in Atlas Park just intime for the spawn there.... I can imagine what went through their minds. "Oh my God! That tutorial zone didn't say anything about THIS!!!" LOL
I don't think anything else I have been a party to compares to that and I have done the Hami raids and the Rikti Mothership along with just about every task force and trial. Heck at one point on Peregrine we battles three Kronos Titans at one time and all within sight of each other. That was a once in a lifetime (on line) event and I'd love to see it again some day.
Okay second favorite has to be after slightly more than 2 years in game have my very first character hit 50 level. "Hello my name is Sara and I am an altoholic. BUt I'm an altoholic that now has Twenty-Four 50 levels all on Virtue!" -
I have done Doc Q a grand total of ONE time. It took us over 5 hours to complete and that was with stealth and recall friend. It was also after the game allowed us Ouro Portals and most of us on the team had Base Teleporters and even Mission teleporters. It's long, it's definately boring with all the repeating missions and defeat X number of THIS enemy missions and I have never had the desire to do it again.
I'm not sure what the average time is these days and I have heard the channel chat of teams completing in a few hours but SPEED RUN teams to me = we don't care about deaths, drops or anything else aside from merits. Well lets look at that
Doc Q 5 hours (for argument sake) 122 Merits
Synapse 2 hours 58 Merits
Sister Psyche 1.5 hours 50 Merits
Moonfire 1.5 hours (or less) 32 Merits
----------------------------------------------------------------
TOTAL 5 hours (probably less) 140 Merits
With around the same investment of time I can earn more merits doing those 3 TFs. I can take sanity breaks between TFs as opposed to 5 straight hours of grind (or splitting the thing over 2 days). I face three different major villain groups on a variety of maps and all three can be accomplished by anyone using ant type of travel power without serious difficulty.
The shard is a beautiful looking zone that has wound up being ignored simply because of the content design. Not a single contact has a story arc? The initial TF is so long and so tedious it sours people from ever returning? I can't speak for anyone else but frankly I know this is true for me. After that one Doc Q I have never had a desire to go back and even try any of the other TFs.
I know the Devs say it's easier to create a whole new zone that to alter an existing one but if any zone needed and deserved a revamp this is it. Get some actual story arcs in there for people to run. Come up with a better sysytem of travel than the gysers. Cut the length, and yes if necessary the merits, on Doc Q. And in my opinon turn it into a CoOp zone like the RWZ. The place is beautiful and its such a shame that it isn't seen by more people. -
Blood Specter got it.. I meant "Rocketman"
Two PPD officers hanging arouond outside the donut shop in Faultline:
PPD one: So you think if we hang around long enough Tony Stark will come back?
PPD two: I hope so My wife still doesn't believe me. I want his autograph
(Okay legal issues will definately make this one impossible but I loved that scene in Ironman Two and like many immediately thought of the giant Donut in Faultline LOL) -
Quote:Yes that's about the normal but like most GMs once he spawns he stays until some team defeats himI've been playing off and on for a few months now and I'd never heard of him. I only found him by accident while looking up something else on Paragon Wiki.
My questions are, does he really spawn as often as the wikipage claims -greater than every 4-6 hours?
Quote:Is there a zone announcement I've just never seen to announce the spawn like with Babbage or Jurassik, or is there no announcement at all?
Quote:IF I wanted to hunt him, how many team members would I need and is there any strategy I need to know about?
Quote:Are there any other obsure GMs I need to know about?
Kraken in Perez Park
Babbage in Boomtown (also spawn in Skyway) during the Synapse Task Force)
Lusca in Independence Port
Adamastor in Dark Astoria
Jurassik in Crey's Folly
Eochia in Croatoa
Jack in Arms in Croatoa
Sally in Croatoa ( very easy to defeat.. with one blow from brawl)
The Kronos Titan in Founders Falls (spawns only after a mission against Malta is completed when assigned by Agent Crimson in Peregrin) -
This one just came to me and I HAD to...
In Cap Au Diable:
Rocketman turns to his partner and says "Dude if you sing that Elton John song ONE more time I swear I will throw you off this building!" :-D -
Quote:Like OMG Becky that was exactly what I was thinking of when I wrote this LOL I LOVE the Muppets!Ok, you got me thinking in a similar vein, and now I want to see the devs put a pair of old geezers in the game that have an homage resemblance to Statler and Waldorf, both in looks and constant humorous critique
Hehehe Hey Fleeting I love that idea. I recently completed that arc for the first time. I'd seen stuff on Paragon Wiki about Becky but reading about her and actually teaming with her are two different things. The text had me giggling through the whole mission. "It's just so totally awesome to be working with you. I have working with Silver Mantis before but your so much nicer." I kept wondering when she'd ask if I wanted to go shoe shopping at the mall after the mission was over. LOL -
Quote:I have to agree with you on RED side Necrotech. I keep Villain Events running and especially the Ghost of Scrapyard seems to occur constantly. The other night I saw the now all too familiar "Miners are striking in Sharkshead" notice and couldn't help but think.. "Yeah so when aren't they striking?" One the other hand Caleb seems to almost be a Myth. In 4 plus years of game play I have never managed to capture that badge on a single character. About a week ago I actually saw the post that he'd spawned in Nerva and I happened to be there collecting my 5 merits for getting all of the exploration badges. I thought GREAT I'll go find him and form a team. I knew he spawned above Thorn island so when I arrived a flew up and started looking. AND LOOKING AND LOOKING .. finally I asked on the badge channel if anyone knew a good location to search for him and of course when I arrived there Caleb was gone. I had a similar experience with the Flyer. I saw the post and started searching.. Never did find it before it despawned.i agree that GMs are extremely fun to fight, but i also agree with the fact they give pitiful rewards, even soloing a GM will net approx 17k inf not in sg mode while soloing an AV not in sg mode will net like 130k inf
some GMs poeple dont fight because they spawn all the time (like kraken, ghost of scrapyard, paladins, ect) and other GMs poeple dont fight because they are too situational or require force spawning (caleb and arachnos flier come to mind)
the arachnos flier in particular when it does spawn, basically despawns in like 20 min, so unless you have a full team outside at the right time, your not gonna take it down, and when villains can go heroside and just run an STF and get the badge for the flier that doesnt pop a force field up or despawn
another point to bring up is the lack of GMs redside, there are only 4 GMs in all of redside (not counting the master at arms) and 2 of those 4 GMs are annoying enough to get that unless your a badger, your not gonna ever see them, the other 2 are spawned almost all the time, so poeple fight them so frequently that they just get annoyed with them
i agree with adding the rewards to provide incentive for GMs, and i would also like to add that they should make more GMs for redside
It's tough trying to add any more GM red side because of the number of zones. Hero side there are 18 and they have 9, not counting Sally, and 2 of those (Eochia and Jack in Irons) are in the same zone. With only 7 strictly COV zones to work with adding more GMs would result in nearly 1 in every zone we have. Unless its a seriously wimpy GM I doubt a one level in Mercy wants to round a corner and find themselves staring at a COV equivilant of Jurrasik. They could do something in ST. Martial... the Devouring Earth are there so why not a COV Jurrasik or even a brand new one. I posted a long time ago suggesting the Tsoo get one. Most Oriental cultures (at least the Chinese and Japanese) view dragons as a symbol of power so why not a Tsoo Ancient spirit in Dragon form? Then have Caleb spawn more than once a decade and stay around until someone defeats him and do the same with the Flyer... that would give Red side 5 GMs in 7 zones which is actually a much higher percentage than 9 in 18 Blue side. -
To TRULY.. TRULY make this as obnoxious as possible the car should be sitting in 2 handicap spots and, of course, have NO handicap plate attached. LOL Oh at which point we don't park the truck behind the car (love that comment BTW). We go and borrow our buddies MONSTER truck and park on top of it and then have the leasure lunch after several hours of shopping!
To the OP.. I know they have done Double XP weekends before in July but don't recall one ever been done over the holiday weekend... I could be mistaken on that. Going Rogue or not they have been doing 2 DXP weekends a year and one always falls in the summer. Not like its a massive undertaking the code is already in place so all that's required is for someone to switch it to the ON position. :-D -
I want a REALLY old couple sitting on a park bench right where you arrive in Atlas and Galaxy after the tutorial..
Old Woman NPC: Oh look dear its another new Hero!
Old Man NPC: You call that a hero? When I was young we had REAL heroes. Look at (him/her) I bet if one of Nemesis' minons showed up and just looked at (him/her) funny a change of tights would be necessary.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How about a beat up hero with a ripped costume that stands across the street from the Fire Chief in Steel anytime there is a Hellion arson fire and shouts to anyone that gets close enough:
"You don't want to do that man! They are totally crazy I tell you. All I tried to do was save a little kitten trapped on the third story and LOOK what they did to me!"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Valley Girl groupies in Pocket D
Oh look Becky! Like check out all the total hunks! I told you we should have come here.
You are like so right Cindy. I am just like totally psyched to be here right now. Oh My God check out THAT one!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A Nemesis minon with a self preservation chip in Peregrin anywhere along the docks:
"There are two Fake Nemesis right around the corner. You want them NOT me. Honest they are there I swear! Please don't tell them I said anything!"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
An OBVIOUSLY lonel soldier at the entrance to the Firebase Zulu:
"Your here! Oh thank heavens it's been so long since I saw anyone from home! Please say your staying for a while? No one EVER seems to come here anymore. This IS a nice place REALLY... NOOOO Don't talk to Quartefield! Oh crap once they finish HIS assignment they will never come back again."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A shady looking guy standing outside the tailor shop in IP:
"Hey buddy come here a sec. You want a good costume? I got a friend that can make you one for half of what they charge in that place."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At least one escaped prisoner in Brickstown that wanders aimlessly throwing his hands in the air:
"I swear I told my cousin to leave the getaway car right here! What an idiot! Does anyone know if the bus comes by here?"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A guy dressed in a conductor's outfit (like on AMTRACK) that randomly appears at various Train stations:
"Yo HEEE ROW! You got a ticket? I don't care what so called EMERGENCY you're headed to.. No one rides this train without a ticket. So just back it up and get out of my line until you got one. Understand?"

A frantic guy that spawns in Creys Folly along with Jurrasik:
"That's my car! That's my car! Please, please save the car! My insurance company is refusing to pay. They claim a Giant Devouring Earth Monster stealing it to use as part of a club is an act of god!"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
and last, but certainly not least (LOL) at least one Hellion in Atlas laying on the sidewalk. He's obviously beat up, outfit torn and missing one shoe:
"Ooooo Man That woman really must like that purse. Who know she was a black belt!"

hehehe Okay so its late and I am in a silly mood! :-D -
Quote:I like this idea. I still recall the first time I battled Lusca after they added the merits and was shocked to only get 2. Realisitcally each tentacle is a GM in and of itself so the prospect of battling 1 Lusca for 2 merits when I can battle Eochia 9 time for 18 boggles the mind. Let's not forget that most other GMs can also be taken down by one 8 man team, or less, while Lusca takes at least 2 teams if you plan to succeed in most cases.I think a lot of the giant monsters suffer not just from low rewards but from a "been there, done that" mentality. It's very cool and a lot of fun the first time you do it, but by the third or forth time it's lost it's luster.
Lusca in particular has extremely low rewards for the amount of time it takes to defeat all the tentacles and the head. I would award at least 1 merit per part.
Another reward that would spur interest in giant monsters would be to have a guaranteed set recipe drop for your level from all pools. So you might win the lottery and get a Luck of The Gambler +recharge or you might get a Lethargic Repose. But I think just having the chance at getting a good recipe would encourage participation from players at all levels.
The recipe drop sounds like a great incentive since I have always felt the "reward" for taking out a GM was pitiful.. Usually nothing more than an inspiration.
I'd leave spawn rates alone.... Vet badgers will tell you how frustrating it was TRYING to get all the GM badges back when Kraken rarely appeared in Perez and we all know how cut throat it can become during the Halloween event when Jack in Irons actually spawn.... teams spend ?? (hours?) taking down Eochias trying to spawn him and then when he does You better get there fast because the team that does locate him isn't about to wait for anyone to arrive before they attack.
One suggestion I made some time ago was add an accolade, with powers, for taking down every GM. Take out Kraken, Babbage, Lusca, Adamastor, Jurrasik, Eochia, Jack in Irons and the Kronos Titan and earn a badge as aQuote:Giant Hunter: The city sleep a little easier knowing you are there to tackle even the largest and deadliest of foes.
I could see them adding some merits to successfully completing some of the other events like the Arson fires in Steel and the Superdine Ravs in Skyway to boost their popularity. Another suggestion that MAY spark some increased interest in the Arson fires is unlockable costume pieces. I'm a Taxibot and on Fridays we get together in Steel to offer teleport in zone and we started tping people to the Arson fires and assisting them in earning the badges. At this point several of us have all 3. In game we have a soldier costume available along with a Police Office one so why not unlock a firefighter costume if a player gets all three of the badges for that? It would be 4 pieces.. Helmet, Bunker coat, Bunker pants and boots. Something similar could be done with the Superdine raids .. say after stopping 4 or 5 you gain access to PPD outfits and logos. -
Quote:I'm sorry Blunt but I disagree. As I mentioned in previous posts here I skipped Time bomb but Trip mines do not suck. There is no need to use Cloaking Devive to plant them.. Just set them down and pull the mob to them.. BOOM!Time Bomb and, to a slightly lesser degree, Trip Mine sucks horribly on teams and even sometimes solo for obvious reasons, not the least of which is Cloaking Device just isnt good enough. Too much +Perc by everything, in other words, but mostly its the cast and interrupt times. Buncha peeps have already said this of course.
I did a KHTF with 3 /Dev Blasters on the team and we were laying mines between spawns while battling the AV. Next spawn arrived and BOOM ... if the Cabal were lucky the Bosses and the AV survived. That TF completed in just over 19 minutes ... the fastest time I personally have every completed a Katy TF. I did a 2nd Respec with two others and we mined ever door/spawn point. Nothing ruins a Freakshow's day more than walking through a door and being blown to bits. I already described how I used them to prtect the reastor during another respec mining the Reactor and how I have used them working with a herding tanker. They are not going to KILL an AV but place a whole pile of them in one spot and taunt the AV there and it certainly get's their attention while I am spraying them with Full Auto.. and usually takes out any minions tagging along so the AV suddenly finds himself solo against an 8 man team. -
Quote:I'm pretty much the same. I don't bother with Training Origin at all but at 12 I will slot DOs followed by SOs at 22. If I'm on a team or TF the odd levels only add a few enhancement slots that aren't getting anything anyway so NO I don't bother. I also tend to skip leveling, even if it means I get another power, when I am exemplared down on a Task Force. "Yeah I just hit level 38 but this is the Posi TF... I can train when it's over. Not like I'll get to use the power anyway" ((LOL))I'm not too sure if you mean not bothering to visit the trainer when you reach a level where you get more slots, or actually slotting enhancements into those slots.
Either way, I skip it until level twelve. Levelling tends to be too quick for enhancements before DOs, so I tend to level in even multiples for the first part of a character's career. I know people who laugh at me because I don't leave it until SOs or even because I'm not using IOs exclusively, but to me the difference is great enough with DOs to be worth it, and I find that visiting my local stores to be far more convenient than visiting Wentworths before forty-seven. Even if it is sometimes more pricey.
If I'm soling and my enhancement tray is getting full anyway I'll stop by the trainer on the way to unload them. I usually don't bother with IOs until about 32,, 35 level IOs do provide the same bonus as 35++ SOs and 40 levels = 50 level SOs. -
Quote:I agree with Mousedroid. The Rikti invasions and the Zombie (Originally a Halloween treat that just never left) are fine and players enjoy doing them. Just seems like no one really has an interest in trying for Banners at the moment. At least not enough to succeed. Funny thing is they do offer up some temp powers but trying to take down 4 banners requires a LOT of players so you can spawn the GM and get them. The invasions are simpler.. Hey you can even knock off some minions and Lieutenants solo .. Try attacking a banner by yourself.Probably the only time you're going to get these badges is around Halloween. You're right that it takes too much coordination and concerted effort, and too many players to succeed when they randomly spawn.
It's a neat concept, but it just doesn't work as well as the invasions, which can be fought with fewer people and less coordination. It should probably be a specific-time-of-the-year thing like the Winter Lord.
I think it was a case of the Devs assuming from the popularity during Halloween that everyone was dying to run banners constantly so, like they did with the Zombies, they kept it around. Not everything has to be a daily occurance in game and I think they should have just kept this one a Halloween treat. Face it during that event, like the Winter and Valentine's Day ones, players come out of no where to get badges, add costume slots, costume pieces, or whatever. The increased players make finding the necessary players to tackle a banner event possible. In June everyone playing is busy running task forces, strike forces, trials, Mothership Raids, Hami raids, and anything else that will get them Reward merits, XP, Salvage, Recipes, and Influence/Infamy. Many probably already have the badges and could care less about repeating. I have even seen players complaining that they were in the middle of a TF, or whatever, street hunt mission and NOW had to wait for the "event" to end before they could complete it. I'd say the best thing to do is STOP them and go back to just running that event during Trick or Treat. -
Quote:Pleeease, no more new zones. They need to add more to the zones we already have >.<
But you forget young grasshopper the Devs keep insisting it is easier to create a completely new zone than revamp older ones! LOL So despite fequent posts to revamp Boomtown, Perez, Dark Astoria, ect the creation of a Moon Base, which was voted as the most popular choice for a NEW zone by the Forum members YEARS ago. seem far more likely to occur.
I can see the Rikti being there and Wailers too, they certainly look scifish enough (Is SciFish a word? :-D) Might be another spot to plant some critters from the Shadow Shard that somehow managed to escape (or explain them away as remnants left over from the attack on Paragon City). I can see Crey industries there since they tend to show up anyplace there is a chance for Science or technological finds and since Nemesis seems to show up just about everyplace I can by off on them as well.
NOW .. can we PLEASE, if in fact this ever happens, have one zone where some how the Circle of Thorns don't make an appearance? Hey I could even live with finding a huge 5th Column base up there since its one explanation for where they disappeared to so they could regroup and rebuild after the Center and his Council troops forced them out. But a society of dark magic user in outer space? And they are there because they heard a rumor the man in the moon has Mystical powers that they wish to steal? or what? Frankly when I First went to the Shard and discovered them there my reaction was "What the heck are they doing here now?" I think we all get the point COT are a MAJOR villain group and we will see them from level one through level 50 we do NOT need to see them in practically every single zone. LOL
If the zone ever does exist how about a brand new villain group to contend with? I'm thinking something along the lines of Predator movies. A race of alien beings that live to hunt and enjoy pitting themselves against anything or anyone with superior fighting abilities. This could even lead to missions where the Rikti team up with us simply because these things scare them ****less. Of course without the proper permissions they'd need to alter the look and weapons somewhat to avoid lawsuits but give these things some sort of energy weapon and melee attacks and give the higher leveled ones (Lts and Bosses) some Psi attacks as well. -
Quote:Omega Maneuver is a really outstanding power. I like to refer to mine as my Mini Nuke. I have 3 slots of Damage, 1 Accuracy and 2 slot of Recharge on it which allows it to come back in a little over 3 minutes. Unlike a lot of other Nukes it is not a huge END drain so I use it as often as its available (If I know there is an AV or EB in the mission I may hold on to it as we get close to the end so I can spring it on that target). Generally I place it, remotely, and then while it taunts everything around I fire off my Venom Grenade to maximize its damage output.Hmm. Think the arguements so far have been pretty compelling, actually.
It's a shame, though, because it seems like quite a neat power.
I think the best thing would maybe be something like Omega Maneuver. I don't really know tbh.
Was interesting reading the replies, anyhow
Verdict: Good solo, terrible on teams, takes too long to set up.
I've even used it by setting it right next to myself and pulling everything to me... They rush forward, stop attcking me as the Bomb taunts them, and then BOOM! I plan on taking my Crab to Paragon City once GR hits and think it would be neat to team with a /Dev Blaster or two and use this tactic with Trip mines as well. lay trip mines, set up the Omega, Pull and then watch the mob vanish in a huge fireball. LOL
