I haven't seen it yet but aren't we forgetting one method that doesn't require any special contact at all? AE.. sure it would take even longer with the nerfs but a character could leave Outbeak, or Break Out, and head straight to the AE building and just keep running missions all the way to 50. No training required to get to level 5 for radio/newsapaper missions, no need to worry about contacts.. you have the only one you need (the mission computer), and even a steady supply of inspirations available.
Now we all remember the "I made it from level 1 to 50" AE babies from when this first hit and they bragged about doing so in hours. I'm sure it would take longer now BUT the question was CAN a character go all the way to 50 without every training... I don't see why not using this method. And never even have to leave the first zone they arrive in while doing it. -
Early game.. level 10, 15 and 20 IO outshine Training and Dual Origin.
Later one by level 35 IOs are just a bit lower than an SO when first slotted at 27 but are about equal by 30 to 34
From 40 on on .. IOs are much better than their Single Origin counterparts.
Hope that helps :-D -
/signed This sounds like a really fun idea I think with a little effort the train mission could work too... Have the character enter the "train" at ant of the normal stations and then just design a train interior for you to fight your way through. While we are at it how about a few missions (red side) where we highjack the Ferry or stop someone else from doing it for our "friendly" Arachnos benefactors? We already have the ship interior.. just make a shorter version with several stroies and replace the cargo with cars and trucks.

Quote:Not sure what happened there Dark.. now it seems like they work right if they are YOUR pets but they still present an obstacle to everyone else. I was on with my Brute last night helping my partner run Rogue tips with his MM. There were several times I actually had to JUMP over the minons to get to the battle. I play MMs myself so I know you can walk right through them when they belong to you BUT it seems like if they are someone elses.. they are solid!I agree.
Look, them already came up with a fix for Mastermind pets blocking doorways by having you be able to walk through them (although last night I noticed that this seems to no longer be the case, which is weird; anyone else seen this?). If it's the whole "controlling a group of 6 pets" thing that's getting you, maybe you're playing the wrong Archetype. -
I'm not sure what your build is like but I have never had a problem facing a boss solo and have done well facing EBs. My crab is set up as basically a Blaster with a serious attitude problem.. She is also my badger so she has ever accolade with power avialable but all she has in slots are generic 50 level IOs.. not a single set bonus. of course I always have out at least ONE set of pets adding to my damage output.....
then its just Venom Grenade, Frag Grenade, Heavy Burst, Suppression, and then just keep firing until nothing is moving anymore. Channel gun is a definate friend... I have almost NO close range attacks everything is set up for range... Oh and I have my Omega Manuever recharged to be usable about every three minutes. that's always fun.. set that out and get their attention.. web grenade to hold any of the runners in place, fire off a venom grenade to increase potential hit point damage and then start into th attack chain to finish everything off. :-D -
Quote:they sting once and fly Waaaaaay away <--- and this right here is why I have NOT missed seeing them in missions. I can still recall the frustration on an 8 man team when it LOOKED like we'd defeated all but couldn't get a mission complete and after 10 minutes of searching found one lone Swarm hovering near the ceiling ... Grrrrr *urge to kill* .. Oh wait we DID kill it err I mean we defeated and arrested it Yeah that's what we did LOLSwarms annoyed me, as both of the characters that I remember most fighting them were a BS/Regen (I-4) and a mid-level BS/WP (last month). Tedious from the Resist that the Rock-based critters had, and thankfully lacking the -Rech that the Regen had faced.
I remember being in Crey's Folly on the Regen and seeing his attack buttons turning into teeny tiny little dots.No ranged attacks in that set and no Vet powers or temp powers at the time as they sting once and fly Waaaaaay away.

I enjoy soloing EBs.. I'm like you when I solo I am usually at normal levels so I don't die frequently. Of course it does depend on the AT.. I have soloed EBs with Tanks, Scrappers, Brutes and even some with my SoA Crab. No way I want to try soloing most EBs with my Controllers or Blasters. LOL My proudest soling accomplishment is with my MA/Regen scrapper.. she soled all of the praetorian villains in Maria's arc
I feel the way most here seem to.. I know there are players out there that have invested the time and BILLIONS in INF to IO out their characters and can solo AVs and GMs but its just not something I feel a need to accomplish. More power to them but I like trying out new power sets and combinations and have close to 40 characters on Virtue.. I use my Influence to fund a small army not one ULTRA Hero. :-D Plus I love to team and AV and GM battles are a lot of fun so why solo when you can assemble a small group and make the AV beg for mercy?
I have considered duoing some AVs just to see how my partner and I would make out. We team up with our DS/DM masterminds and pretty much breeze through missions with a EB in it.... might be fun to up the challenge and take on an AV.. also a good bit more Infamy involved that way. :-D -
Quote:I agree with Resident and this is a much better solution...That's a silly waste of perfectly good damage and utility. And not taking them doesn't make the others any stronger. I object, sir.

Opps forgot one.. I have suggested this before but it never hurts to squeek LOUD and LONG. :-D
Do something with the costume missions at 20, 30 and 40.. as they stand they are nothing but a bunch of street hunts and most people do one of two things.
1. Go to a zone where the villain group in question is easy to find and many levels lower than they are so they can quickly plow through it and get back to making their new outfit
Or
2. When available just drop the mission without ever leaving the tailor shop and hit the costume dsigner.
What I suggested a while back was door missions that actually make you feel like your helping Icon instead of just playing bully for hire.
Level 20.. BLUE SIDE I'd love to help you out with a new costume (hero's name) but the Tsoo hijacked my delivery truck and I have no ink to dye fabric the right color. Can you lend a hand in recovering my property? MISSION SET in Steel Canyon and you enter a darkened warehouse and battle Tsoo and click on 3-4 glowies along with defeating the Tsoo leader that engineered the hijacking.
Level 20 .. RED SIDE I could use a hand (villain's name) the Family has a huge warehouse filled with stolen fabrics. If you can get in there and steal some for me it will definately help me cut costs. MISSION SET in Cap Au Diable and you enter and defeat the Family guarding the glowies to earn you 2nd outfit.
Same sort of thing could be done at 30 and again at 40 so instead of mindlessly street hunting the Hero or Villian actual feels like they are helping the tailor and earning another outfit. YEAH I know "supposedly" we are beating up 30 Tsoo to make them stop harrassing the Tailor but that feels more like me being a hired thug than a hero.. works okay Villain side (HEY I AM A HIRED THUG lol) but seems more like I'm being a bully than a hero and if it changed thats 3 less street hunt missions I HAVE to endure on both sides -
I'd say yes. Not sure where to start the whole process but obviously the reason Praetoria exists is because people where sick and tired of the same content between 1-20. I started out on COV and moved to COH later so I was thrilled when they introduced Burke to the mix in Mercy. I was so tired of doing Kalinda's repetative SNAKE missions I have never chosen her as my opening contact again. Blue side I'd like to see them do a few more early evel story arcs like they have red side. They don't need to be long or offer up huge amounts of reward merits but give us a story instead of a series of unrelated missions designed solely to get us to level 5 when our contacts ship us off to Kings Row.
Throughout (level 2-50) can we cut back on the FEDEX/Talk to missions and the street hunts please? A few I'd particularly like to see disappear include the "Talk to the Perez Park Security Chief" mission you always get around level 7. Your normally getting this from a contact in Kings Row which forces you to head back to Atlas Park only to discover he wants you to head into Perez and defeat 10 COT... Oh yeah at level 7 I REALLY want to venture into Perez and battle COT after trying to scurry past huge mobs of Hellion, Skulls or Vahzilok all with at least one boss in there and all bent of sending me to the Hospital in Atlas... I have a habit, since it became available, of talking to the Security Chief and then dropping that mission as fast as possible .. so I can get back to KR and do mission I actually WANT to run. Lets see what else do we have. 10 Outcast in Steel Canyon, 10 Trolls in Skyway, and of course almost every contact in Striga sends you off to defeat 10 Council or Banished Pantheon before they will even think about giving you an actual door mission. I don't mind one of these now and then IF it fits into the story line.. Question 10 Council to discover the location of the secret base... but a lot of these, especially at low levels seem to be designed more as mindless errands with no real purpose other than .. "Oh by the way we have OUTCAST in Steel Canyon".
I agree with Sam Tow that some other missions, like Unai's, need an overhaul as well. He sends me to a world filled with Warwolves to plant beacons and I no sooner come back and my very next mission.. go back and fix the beacons I JUST put there? i have a better idea .. contact the company that manufactured the things, since they are obviously junk, and make them send in a team to fix the mess they created in the first place.
I realize assets are limited and no one wants to see any new content or new powers, ect sidetracked but when possible try to update some of the old stuff and make it NEW as well. -
My Soldier, Operative Tessa, has gone full circle. She is my badger so I went Rogue, then Hero, then Vigilante, back to Villain and finally back to Rogue. Along the way I picked up all of the instance door mission badges blue side via time travel (While I was a hero) and have joined all of the blue side Task Forces except the ones in the Shadow Shard. I also grabbed all the exploration and history badges. LOL she is running out of defeat badges to acquire after a good bit of hunting on both sides and PvP and holiday events aside has most of the available badges.
I plan to keep her a Rogue now so she can access both side in the future. :-D -
I really don't see any penalty involved in any of the alignments. Stay a Hero or a Villain and do the tip missions and you earn A-Merits. Go Vigilante or Rogue and earn reward merits.. along with the ability to cross over to the other side and run missions and collect badges (in all but one case this includes earning added merits by getting all the exploration badges in the appropriate zones .. There is one badge in Atlas that a Rogue can't reach because its buried inside the entrance to Recluse Victory and only heroes and vigilantes have access to that side).
There is absolutely nothing stopping a hero or villain from teaming with vigilantes or rogues, respectively, and doing their tip missions.. as long as they ensure they have completed their 5 hero tip missions for the day first. So really the only content they are unable to reach is from the other side (Red or Blue as the case may be) and since prior to I-18 a hero had NO method to even think about exploring villain content and visa versa I really don't see that as an issue. IF you want to explore all the new tip mission content then switch to Rogue or Vigilante.. there is nothing keeping you from teaming with people doing hero tip or vigilante tips (blue side) or villain and rogue tip (red side) at that point.
As far as I can see all 4 alignments offer some form of reward so it just a matter of WHICH type of reward you want. -
Are we talking about the "same" pedestrians that when I do break up a purse snatching say things like.. "Maybe I was WRONG about capes" "Yeah your welcome. And thanks for making me feel so special " LOL
These are the same pedestrians that can't be bothered to take a single step to the side when the approach me and knock me out of the way?
The same ones that inside missions run around like maniacs instead of hiding from the bad guys while I am fighting and sometimes even knock me out of melle range?
hehehe When I come out of Outbreak with a new 2 level I'll wander around Atlas Park defending the innocent mainly because I like to hit the sewers at level 4 ( gives me 3 attacks or a couple attacks and a little defense before I start battling Red and Purple bosses). After that.. At level 50 I am NOT stopping to help some citizen being mugged in Atlas Park. If I am there at all it's probably because some contact sent me there to stop Nemesis from blowing up half the city or The Carnies are up to some new plot. If a Hellion is robbing someone.. that's what the NEW heroes are sent to Atlas for.. let them handle the little stuff.. I am trying to save the whole city from ruin.
By the way.. I fully support the right of Villains in Mayhem missions to shoot to kill. Once all the civilains are gone maybe I can actually get a lock on the PPD Boss trying to remove my head from my shoulders. :-D -
I have seen a bit more of this recently but frankly I sort of like it. It's much more realistic than at every spawn pawn finding 3 minions or 1 minion/1 Lieutenant standing there pounding their fist into their palm while they wait to be beaten up. Now they roam a little and you have to work a bit more to find them.
Sorry I like it so I don't see the problem. -
Quote:/signedI19 will add 2 new auras and alternate animations to many blaster powers.
No new costumes.
Oh well, this will be another 'disappointing' issue for the OP.
Me? I'll be enjoying the all the new contents.
Let's see I-18 gave us an entire new zone(s) that give players new content and new enemies to battle between 1-20 level. It added the ability to become a Rogue/Vigilante.. something we've been begging to be able to do for years. As for costumes not associated with payed for packs we got clockwork, resistance and praetorian police outfits.
I-19 includes two brand new Task Forces (again new content) along with the start of the incarnate system. It moves the entire fitness pool into inherents .. and we have only been screaming to have stamina without wasting power picks for years. More power customization with many of the blaster sets now allowing us to pick how they will fire. Oh and now anyone can get to Praetoria through Pocket D .. Badge hunters everywhere are running through a series of /e dance emotes.
Sure we all like new options on how we look or dress but it seems to me like we've gotten quite a bit between Going Rogue and what's coming with I-19. I think I can manage to hold out using the outfits available NOW until Issue 20 or 21. TRY keeping in mind while its a game .. It's also a business and if they gave us everything we asked for in ONE issue what's left to add to make it more exciting after we all get bored with what we have NOW? -
Quote:Your right It's not.. and frankly any team that turns away any MM because.. "They are loud and pushy" or "Too many of them on one team is BAD" .. is one you want to stay away from anyway. I had my Bots/MM on the ITF on Friday with several friends. We alos had a Ninja/ MM and a DS MM. What we didn't have was a Tank or a Brute and someone asked right before we started. "Don't we need a tank for this?" .. The Ninja MM just laughed.Okay, so having now tried out Demon Summoning a little, I love it. I mean LOVE it. The Summoning set is very well balanced and I don't have to micromanage as much, a huge plus for me since I normally play busy secondaries. I like to play a supporting role on a team and the buffs from Ember Demon plus my own buffs/heals are nice. Plus the summoning animations on the demons themselves are awesome.
And yet, how I wish I did not like them. "Why?" I hear you ask. Well let me tell you:
-Everyone is playing DS now. I realize that eventually that might wear off, but not for a long time. It's mildly annoying to join a team and find that there are 4 other DS's in it.
-Demons are big. Really big. So a lot of teams may not invite me because my demons will block them. I totally understand. If I was not a DSer I would probably hesitate to invite me, too. I so very wish they were, at most, just slightly larger than the standard player model. This teaming aspect is compounded by the above issue.
-They are demons. I have a slight moral confusion on this one. Considering the powers, elementals or somesuch would have been just as good. Why include a powerset with demons in it in a game where you get bleeped for saying God in chat?
-Demons are loud. I know you can stop the incessent mooing with a persistent emote, but it's still annoying.
Having now read my own post, I realize most of the issues I have are just with the generalities of teaming. And I still see a lot of Demon Summoners on teams, so that's probably not as big of an issue as I think. Excuse me as I go make another Demon Summoner
1 hour and 20 minutes later we had completed the TF. I'd gone from level 41 to one bar from level 43. My Salvage, recipes and enhancements trays were full .. I had more than doubled the amount of INF I had and we had several comments about it being one of the smoothest and most fun ITFs the team had been on in quite a while.
Oh and lets see.. NO we didnt dismiss pets when we battled Romulus and the healing Nictus.. NO we did experience multiple deaths while taking out the Phallanx control device in mission 3
I see comments all the time about how Masterminds are terrible on teams and treat a team like they are soloing. How the minions are pushy and get in the way and, especially with DS, hiow noisy they pets can be. I've also been on a BUNCH of TFs and SFs with my MMs and others and I don't care what I AM playing the sight of a Mastermind on any team I join is welcome. All that damage and the buffs/debuffs/hold/immobs etc.. ? It's like getting a controllers and a blaster wrapped up in one team member. If they can't deal with a little pushing and shoving and a few growls.. GO find a team that will. -
Quote:Can I just stick a gun to their head and say... "Follow me and stop acting like the task of walking down a set of stairs is a brand new concept to you... or I swear I'll blow your brain out!" I'd be perfectly happy if they'd just keep up and not get lost every time I make a complicated manuever like.. TURNS CORNER.Well I didn't mean literally carry =P
But, I'm fresh out of ideas other than that... anybody else have ideas on captive path issues? (aside the obvious of fixing the pathing issues)
I Don't dread kidnap, or even rescue, missions but if I have other choices (like radio/newspaper mission offer) I will avoid them whenever possible simply because they are annoying (at times). I can understand a kidnap vidtim being reluctant to folllow me ..then again I just battled my way through a couple of floors filled with enemies trying to protect them and all those baddies are gone. Is it really a good idea to tick me off by pretending you don't know how to round a corner successfully? LOL
About the only time this really bugs me is on Mayhem missions.. when I am racing against a clock a kidnap victim taking forever to get to the front door drives me a little crazy and makes me wonder if the time I gained for completing the side was even worth the effort. -
Yep I crossed my SoA Crab over to pick up badges I couldn't get as a Rogue. You are still technically in your SG but your name changes color.. May vary depending on srceen resolution but mine was red. You stop earning prestige which in my case meant for the first time in 50 levels I was earning full INF. I only stayed a hero a few days before working my way back to Villain and then Rogue again but did manage to rack up quite a bit of cash in those two days. :-D Once back you are fully reinstated .. of course if you were the leader before that title needs to be given back to you but anything lower is automatically renewed.
-
Oh lord yes.. I saw this the other day on Yahoo's top ten searches and that was my immediate thought. Followed quickly by... "Have we just completely run out of GOOD ideas for new movies and feel the need to just keep finding ways to make even more money off the ones we did decades ago?"
George here's a bit of advice. By now between the millions made when the movies came out originally and through first VCR and then DVD and Blueray sales and adding in all the tons of cash from all the merchandizing.. If you don't have any new idea in your head then just retire. I'm sure the BILLIONS you have will keep you comfy until the end of your days on this planet. LOL -
For a real Hero feel, sort of like Superman, where you subdue but don't actually KILL anyone I'd go with ..
MA/WP .... gives your scrapper sort of a Bruce Lee as Kato feel
MA/REG ... Sort of the same as above only you have the ability to heal yourself
SD/SS ... I love this set which give you sort of a Capt. America feel
INV/SS .. Definately give the impression of Superman
KM/WP ... Another along the lines of Martial arts
What all these , along with any other combinations like them , have in common is the Hero has no weapon and uses nothing but bare hands and fighting skill to defeat enemies. Yes I know SD has Sheild Charge but that's still just basically hurling yourself forward into your foes and using the sheild to protect yourself and add to the damage.. it is NOT an Assualt Rifle LOL -
/ signed I like this idea and can't see how it would take a lot of effort to become a reality. The Taxibots have always referred tp their bases as "The Garage" or the Virtue Garage, Freedom Garage, etc.. since at one point there were active SGs on every server. Now just to come up with a name for the other bases I run. LOL
Let's see...
Sisterhood of KFKA ---- Divine Temple of KFKA (22 characters)
KFKA Two ---- Garden of the Sisterhood (24 characters)
I need more time to think of a good one for the Villain base :-D -
Quote:Yep I won't spoil it for you, although you can look it up on Paragon Wiki, but you need to chose a Patron and complete their arcs.. including the final where you prove yourself to be "The Destined One" but defeating Lord Recluse in the future. After that you get a short arc from Alan.Alan will give you missions in a few levels. You need to choose a patron and finish their arcs first though.
Also unless you have already completed it.. There is an arc at 35 and a single mission Alan gives you at 40:
5.3 But... But... (Level 35+)
5.3.1 Defeat Burning Daemon, show the world who's boss
5.3.2 Steal Kalinda's Files on Operation: DESTINY
5.4 Pretender to the Throne (Level 40+)
5.4.1 Beat Kalinda for info on what the Destiny actually is about.
Nothing between 30 and 35 though Fortunata Hamilton's arcs run out at about 29. -
Quote:YEAH Fury sounds like you KNOW who the guy was. He even had a Marco or Key Bind he used constantly.. This is NOT a direct quote but in all capital letters throughout the mission I saw something like this..I know EXACTLY who this person is and which SG they are. They are notorious on Virtue as a prestige farming SG. I feel very sorry for any player who gets entangled with them. While I won't out them here on the forums, I'm more than happy to tell who this person is and their SG either in game or in PMs to anyone who asks. They are the worst of the worst.
What's worse is that the player in question plays a herding fire tank who has to telegraph directions that they are going to herd to this spot on every single spawn. Not a good player. Not a good person and a piss poor SG.
I've had several friends suckered by this person with team invites, only to boot them when this person discovered they either had a SG or wouldn't join his grind-prestige-or-die SG. Their reputation on Virtue server is beyond bad, and it's only the forum rules that prevents them from being outed.
Team Leader: I am herding to here
Team Leader: STAY BACK AND DON'T FOLLOW ME!
His herding skill may have improved a bit with time. He didn't seem to be rushing and mainly just got whatever mob was close by gathered in one place for us to attack using AoEs etc.
And yeah about the ONLY reason I did an edit on the text log to keep his identity safe is I have no desire to end up banned from the forums. Anyway he's on global ignore on my account so I don'y have to worry about him bothering any of my characters.. and since I turned off emails except from my friends (local and global) I don't have to ignore a ton of influence selling spammers anymore so he should stay there for a VERY long time. :-D -
Well All of my characters fly and I have used any number of stories to explain it.
My Demon Summoner is a Succubus and sports wings.. So does my BS/SD Scrapper (my Valkyrie)
A number of my characters have magic as their origin .. Hey that's easy I cast a spell and off I go. I have also used this with some mutant origins characters.. Hey if I can mutate and shoot electricity out of my fingers who says my body couldn't have mutated allowing me to fly as well... As example Johnny Storm.. can manipulate fire and shoot fireballs .. also flies very well :-D
With some of the others I have acquired Rocket Boots and that covers it nicely.. this including my SoA Crab Spider.
and when all else fails I resort to Reason # 1 ... I like FLY. I'm to lazy to use teleport, Super Speed gets a little hard to use in areas with a lot of ups and down .. and especially tough in the Shadow Shard. I NEED to get from Point A to Point B to run this mission with my team so if you don't want to teleport me everywhere.. JUST DEAL WITH THE FACT THAT MY CHARACTER FLIES! lol -
Just as a suggestion.. and I realize at times while in a mission you MAY delete a few things hoping for something better but DON'T delete unwanted salvage SELL it! Hey you get 250 INF for common and 1000 for uncommon that's not a huge amount but why waste it? And if you do that instead of deleting you never need to worry about deleting anything you don't want gone for good.
As far as I know Reward Merits and Vanguard Merits can't be deleted although honestly I have never TRIED.. and never will. It does make sense that the reason the Hero/Villain merits can be deleted is because they auto delete if you switch to Vigilante/Rogue. Maybe they need a pop up that would ask .. DO you really want to delete these? It already exists for salvage when you sell it. You get a message not only asking "Do the want to continue?" but it even lists the recipes you have (including memorized ones) that require that piece of salvage.
