Quote:Maybe what we can conclude from this is that while playing at combat lvl 50, it simply checks if the foe cons white or greater to you?
Maybe the test for this would be for a lvl 50 to regularly EX down during a zone event and see if shards still drop. I'd theorize that you wont get the shards while EX'd, even though you are lvl 50 and fighting "GM code" foes.
Or an even better test.. Have a lvl 48 or 49 host an ITF at +2 so you'd be EX'd but still against lvl 50+ foes. If you don't get any shards the entire TF, the answer is clear.
Well no I don't think that would work. From what I understand if we exemplar down below 50 the Alpha slot shuts off and we lose all benefits it grants. So a 50 level exemplaring down to join a Posi 1 TF can expect to earn INF at the same rate as a 50 level but gets no shards since the enemies he is facing are, at beat, level 15-16. I sort of assume that includes Shard drops since we have to be 50 and have the slot open in order to get them. -
Quote:YES that was your PROBLEM(?) You reached 30 level. The tips are divided into set 20-29, 30-39, etc.. when you hit 30 level any remaining 20-29 level tips you had disappeared to make room for the new ones appropriate to your level. i have had this happen to several characters abd its nothing unusual .. you have just graduated to the next level.I recent had two or three un-investigated tips (I hadn't accepted the mission yet). I gained a level (level 30), then went to train both my builds up. After switching builds and picking powers, I looked at my tip window and the tips were gone.
Has anyone experienced this? I suspect it may be because tips have tiers at different level ranges, and hitting 30 is what cleared them out. It's annoying, though, and I want to make sure it wasn't a bug. -
Quote:I had a shard drop during a Rikti Invasion the other night which sort of suprised me since someone had told me that same thing.. While they have no assigned level basically the invasion forces are mostly 30 levels .. that was based solely on the level of the recipes that dropped during invasions.
I was battling invading troops, not bombs, and to be honest I was on my Crab Spider with all of my pets out and using my AoE attacks as much as possible to get credit for as many defeats as possible so I really have no clue what prompted the drop. I know we did battle Heavy Suits at least twice during that invasion but I can't even recall if any of them were out at the time the shard dropped.
I suppose it is possible that the EBs could be 50s and potentially dro shards but I'd have to think there are a lot quicker and easier ways to get shards than racing all over the place chasing Rikti and Zombie invasions hoping for ONE shard. :-D Happy hunting!
Okay this is a first ever for me... I have never quoted myself before .. But I was involved in another Rikti Invasion in Cap Au Diable tonight with my 50 level Crab Spider and got another Shard drop. Now this time I took careful note..
1. At that point not a single Rikti Heavy Suit (EB) had appeared. Several did much later but MUCH later and long after I got my shard.
2. Yes I had been involved in helping take out bombs but the shard dropped after I switched to attacking Rikti invasion troops and SORRY TO DISAPPOINT but I was not on a team so no team mate of mine took out an A Bomb (EB) and caused the shard drop.
So I think we are back to the question.. If I am solo or or a team of 50 levels involved in a Rikti or Zombie Invasion can I expect shard drops? From what I am seeing I think the answer is yes.
Oh and I also think we need to look into that whole "The Rikti may not show any assigned level but they secretly are level 30s" theory based on the fact that they drop 30 level recipes.. Yes I did get 2 Thirty level recipes during the invasion but I also got 2 Fifty level enhancements and the first was early on.. once again LONG before any Elite Bosses appeared and some time after I finished clearing bombs. So if a lieutenant or Minon didn't drop it exactly where did it come from?
The Mystery continues -
As Mentioned you do the Yellow First, then Blue and finally Green. For Green you definately need some holds to counter their regen. It's a good idea to select one team member to target through so that everone is attacking the same Mitos at the same time. You can switch between types since yellow are effected mainly by Melee attack, Blue by Ranged attacks and then of course the Green by holds and EVERYTHING you can pour onto them.
NOTE: I have been on a team recently that did suceed without the aid of any serious holds. We used every possible temp power imaginable on the Green Mitos (including my Accolade Crey Freeze Ray Pistol). It worked eventually but if you are building a team do yourself a favor and get someone on that has Holds/Immob.. My Plant/Rad Controller was a team favorite when we got to this mission
Now the past few times I have done the LGTF a new strategy seems to be emerging and I am still not 100% sure if it helps or not. That said we would defeat all of the Rikti but leave the pylons intact while we attacked the Mitos. A team leader explained that "supposedly" this kept Hamidon in check and lessened the damage he does while you are taking out the Mitos. It seems like a good idea and MAY be beneficial but the few times I have seen it used we still had some players die during the attacks ... Not sure if we'd have had more if the Pylons were down or not but its something you can try if you like.
The GOOD news is unlike an actual Hami raid in the Hive or the Abyss you only need to do all that once and then pour on the damage and debuffs until Hami Falls .. there is not 75%, 50% and 25% rebirth of Mitos to contend with but you probably know that all ready (I am rambling and providing as much info as possible for first timers).
Good luck and have fun
Edit.. Stopped back to add this. Remember the mission takes place through the roof of the Vangaurd Headquarters in the RWZ. Since I 19 hit there is now a combat nurse leaning against the wall right next to the stairs leading to/from the hospital so don't be afraid to rez at full strength back in the hosp, refill your inspirations, and head back in to continue if things are getting a little sticky. -
Well let me start off with this.. Let's not switch Hurl with Hand Clap let's get rid of Hand Clap altogether and get something better in there. That is the one power I took and then respec'd out of. I am a melee character and need to be in range for my attacks to work why on earth do I want a power that sends my target flying across the room (or map) and then I have to chase after them to continue? Let's replace that with something similar to Air Superiority (from Fly) or Haymaker (from the SS set). Knock them down so they can't attack again until they stand up not shoot them across the room and now I have to run after them.
Hurl isn't a bad power but to be honest it has some knockback associated with it as well and while I have taken and kept that I set it aside and only use it in special cases... If I want to taunt from a distance or if I am toe to toe with a AV (since I know it will do damage but most AVs are not going to get knocked anywhere).
Footstomp is awesome (IMO) and with damage enhancers not only taunts and knocks everything in range down it can do decent damage. I have a SD/SS Tanker and I will hit a mob with Shield charge and then follow up with Foot stomp. At that point everything is completely foused on me with ever once hitting taunt and most of the minions in the mob are close to dead before the team even opens up with AoEs.
Its true unlike say .. Superman our SS doesn't stack up well but it's a good set and could be better with one or two changes -
well first of all jade let me start by saying I do not consider my Rogues or Vigilantes to be second class citizens. My 50 level Crab Spider is my badger and she has made the transition from Villain, to Rogue, to Hero to, Vigilante, back to Villain and finally back to Rogue. In the process, through teaming and time travel, she has successfully completed almost every Task/Strike Force in the game (I have yet to do any of the Shadow Shard TFs with her). She has completed every instanced door badge mission a hero or villain can do and has every exploration and history badge imaginable (including those in Praetoria now that it is available to all).
Why haven't I kept her as either a hero or villain? I enjoy being able to team with friends on both red or blue side and as a Rogue she continues to assist the Villain Group she helps run.
That said there are a few points you made I definately agree with..
1. Open up the Ouroborus portal so Rogues and Vigilantes can access either side using it. I know there are people that CLAIM its not supposed to be an alternate means of travel but I always Laugh when I see that here in posts and wonder exactly how many of them DON'T use the portal during Task Forces to quickly get to a new zone. I did the Statesman TF the other night and everyone had to wait on me while I made my way back from PI to IP before we could take on the Thorn tree. I WAS the only Rogue on the team and everyone else Ouro Portaled back to IP after completing that mission. If I have access to BOTH sides give me access to both sides! PERIOD!
2. A few contacts, other than Radio/newspaper, we could access on the opposite side would be nice. I understand them not wanting us to have access to every contact but I am a Vigilante in the Rogue Isles working with a contact in Sharkshead and running missions based on clues he sends me through the newspaper BUT after I pull a successful bank robbery for him and he introduces me to a new contact.. they won't talk to me? Why did I even bother? As you mentioned this could be as simple as setting code to recognize that Micky the Filch realized I am a Vigilante and sends me to a "special" contact that gives out Vigilante based missions.
Now as for rewards actually I continue to do my 5 Rogue tips a day and a moraility mission and I get 60 Reward Merits every two days. That's 420 every two weeks or 1560 a year without ever doing a TF. So yes Rogues and Vigilantes do continue to get rewards for reaffirming their alignment. Also keep in mind that with all the new Exploration Accolades and opening up Praetoria to ALL .. Rogues and Vigilantes now have access to every one of those bonuses (5 Reward merits for each zone you get all 8 badges in). So a Rogue now can get as many as 125 Reward merits, or more, than a Villain for doing nothing more than flying around a zone and landing in the right spot 8 times. Vigilantes benefit as well but there are a lot less zones in COV than COH so here the Rogue makes out much better. -
Quote:Dear Santa,
Next year please have the dev team come out with a Holiday Booster Pack with Christmas/Winter themed costume items, emotes and perhaps powers. Have half the proceeds go to Toys for Tots or some other national charity that provides toys for underpriveleged children.
We here at City of Heroes have what I consider the best on line community of any MMORPG out there. Our players have more heart. Our development team listens and responds. The general public should know about this.
This is a game of Heroes. Maybe it's time WE emulate the characters we play on line.
Sincerely,
Steelclaw
Oh I absolutely love this idea! /SIGNED Please Devs take note and make this happen! -
Actually while the ITF and LGTF do offer more chances for shards and a bonus component upon completion the 3rd respec would not be a bad change of pace. As mentioned it offers the chance for shard drops, chance for Purple recipe drops, since there is no component gift at the end it awards 20 reward merits, it's against Rikti so there is the chance for Vangaurd Merits ... which can be used to but a Gr'ai matter Component and even with 30 minutes of boring time in the reactor it usually doesn't take more than 1 hour to complete. Since its open to anyone from 44-50 it adds on more level of players for recruiting purposes (and still has the chance for shards as long as the leader is a 50)
Obvioulsy if there was a LGTF, ITF, STF, KTF, etc available and I had the time i'd do one of those first but this could be a nice change of pace. I now have six of my 50 levels slotted with uncommons and I have done every 45-50 level SF/TF so many time the details are beginning to blur. LOL -
I think you get the general idea. With 2 days left before the holiday it's time to draft those wish lists and get them Santa (War Witch) and all his (err her) busy elves (the rest of the Dev team.. DUH).
Dear Santa,
I've tried to be a really good girl this year and even my Villains have all gone Rogue and done SOME good deeds. What I'd really, really, really like this year is:
1. The rare and very rare slots opened up on the Alpha... My main now has close to 90 shards and over 15 components after crafting both the Cardiac Core and Cardiace Radial Boost and I need something to do with all that stuff.
2. New Task Forces to run at 50 level.. I have done so many ITF, LGTF. KTF, STF, LRSF and BSFs I am starting to get them confused.... We beat up Lord Recluse and his lieutenants on the Kahn TF right?
3. I recently finally got to do a Cathedral of Pain Trial and it was lots of fun Santa but can't we please find a way to get INF, XP and Prestige for all those Soldiers of Rularuu we have to defeat to get at the Aspect of Rularuu. This one isn't mandatory Santa since the End Bonus is HUGE but it would be a nice treat... maybe it could be a stocking stuffer.
4. Some new Tip missions for Rogues and Vigilantes. I sort of assumed when I heard there were new tip missions it was for all types not just Heroes and Villains. I am still doing the same tips I got pre Issue 19. On a side note Santa, and please don't take this the wrong way since the new mission in Pocket D against Lady Winter more than covers things, but why no Winter tip mission like we got at Halloween? Maybe next year?
As always I will leave you a nice plate of Cookies and some milk near the fireplace at base and I am making sure to turn off the defense systems so we don't have a repeat of that unfortunate incident that occurred last year. I hope the check I mailed covered the repair costs to your suit and that the laser didn't cause any serious damage to your.. well your.. Oh geez I sure hope you don't still need that inflatable donut to sit on anymore!
MERRY CHISTMAS TO ALL -
I'd be happy just being able to customize the color of my Bots. I have a ILL/EMP controller and can change the color of my Phantom Army and my Phantasm but my bots are stuck with one color scheme? I see Fire Imps running around in every color of the rainbow. Now before the HUGE debate begins about that being different because Phantom Army fades away after a few minutes or I have no control over my Phantasm like i do with my Bots..... Are they a POWER? I'd say yes since I select them just like I do any other power on any other character. So because I can rename them I can't color them the way I'd like? Hardly seems like a fair trade off.

Quote:Indeed, the very grey nature or Ouroborus would seem to fit Rogues & Vigilantes much better than pure Heroes or pure Villains. I would love to see it friendlier to R & V, both in terms of being a travel gateway and for missions devoted to the "Grey" alignments. . . (Red side, Blue side & Grey side!)
I'd love to see this as well but I'm not sure when or IF it will ever ocur. The PURISTS here on the forums will argue that the Ouroborus portal was never designed to be a travel gateway and its just a small benefit one earns when they have it. Yeah and I always wonder just how many of them don't use it almost daily when they are on line to get from one zone to another during a TF or when they want to get from PI to Talos quick to sell at Wentworths. I am a Rogue and just completed a Statesman TF earlier tonight. After we finished the mission in PI where you defeat Viridian, Regent Korol, Mu'Drakhan and Shadow Spider I used an Ouro Portal offered to me and then next thing i saw in Team chat was..
"Tessa the mission is in IP why are you in CAP?"
"Because I am a Rogue and I don't get IP as an option. I'm on my way and in the RWZ Now!"
Then of course there was the Kahn TF I did where I used the portal to get into the last mission after we completed the Get the Energy Sourse Mission in PI. That one did let me and two other rogues tp directly into the mission and then .. our pets attacked our team mates, their pets attacked us, and the debuffs from one of the Controllers were debuffing OUR attacks. I am still not sure they ever fixed that bug I have heard of it coming up again.
I really see no reason why there couldn't be ONE Ouroborus for both sides. Villains and Rogues would still only have access to Villian missions (since even the contacts a Rogue picks up doing Radio missions won't talk to them). Heroes and Vigilantes would only have access to Hero missions (Same thing) Heros would only have accesss to tp points in COH, Villains only access to ones in COV and Rogues/Vigilantes access to both. How much extra coding could that possible create? -
Ah HA! lol I thought that might be the case.. I always wondered why Apex was a 2 mission TF and Tin Man only 3.. okay so they have some different parts its still only 2 and 3 missions and I have story arcs from Contacts that are longer. Still I like the break down .. 1 short TF concerning Praetoria invading Primal Earth and the second concerning us repelling the invasion and attacking them in Praetoria.
It's very cool that you got to play with GF. I'd love to get a chance like that but I'd probably be really nervous. -
You are a Crab Spider.. the backpack is not an option its a requirements (unfortunately). A while back someone posted that they'd found a way to create a costume without one and I raced to the tailor. It actually did work and I left with a brand new outfit minus 4 extra mechanical arms. Then I zones and when I arrived in the new zone .. POOOOOF it was back. As far as I know there is no way to take it off. Now you do have dual builds so you could create a 2nd build where you pick Bane powers and not crab and then all you'd have to do to go packless is switch builds.
-
Quote:Actually, I think I heard that if you get a helpful teammate, you can be recalled in and out of the appropriate location.
Ohhh I didn't think of that. You are still in Atlas Park NOT Recluse Victory so I don't see any reason why a team mate couldn't TP you down to pick up that badge... Okay so WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM YOUR FRIENDS there are no badges I KNOW OF that a Rogue can't get hero side. LOL -
Quote:Lets not bother reading the rest of that page of the thread or anything.
Not to get Bitchy but "Let's not bother to read the entire post before we decide to post and make fun of some one else" ...
Quote:It actually does look much more like the Hydra Tentacles you face in the Abandoned Sewer Trial and now in mission one of the Apex TF. Of course the Clockwork got a whole new look in Praetoria so who is to say the the DE couldn't have something similar... and I do seem to recall that there were some sort of DE tentacles located in some of the deep cracks located in Faultline. They looked a lot like Hydra tentacle beasts too but were definately Devouring earth. I wonder if this is something we can look forward to battling in the future though. We have been sort of promised more content in Praetoria and even content above level 20.
Its a really cool picture and in future issues I'd love to see a zone similar to the Abyss and Hive where we could battle the Praetorian Hamidon just like we do in COH/COV now. If he has claws and tentacles instead of just looking like a giant advertisment for Jello .. FANTASTIC! Why is it any thread like this always manages to have one or two posters more interested in seeing if they can belittle someone than in just having fun?

Don't forget Rogues and Vigilantes are not just left out in the cold as far as rewards for tip missions go.. 60 Reward merits every 2 days can add up very quickly. Now add in the fact that a Vigilante or a Rogue has access to both sides and ALL of the Exploration badges (except one unless they fixed that) so they also can get all of those ZONE exploration accolades and another 5 reward merits per zone... which amounts to over 34 zones that award 5 merits for a total of 170 not to mention the 6 new ones all characters have access to in Preatoria. Obviously this is a much bigger deal for a Rogue since they pick up over 25 hero zones (125 Reward Merits) that a villain can't access.
As metioned Rogues and Vigilantes gain access to added TF/SFs and for the badgers easier access to many defeat badges (Defeating 500 skulls is a LOT simpler in Perez Park hero side than trying to get them in Mercy as a villain) and (Cold demons and Family Bosses , not lieutenants, show up a lot more often in Sharkshead and St. M than on the Hero side).
Not that there aren't advantages to staying a hero or villian but before you even get into the expanded content aspect it's very clear from a rewards stand point that rogues and vigilantes are NOT suffering either -
Quote:Well, out of 26 level 50's, all have a common slotted and maybe nine have an uncommon slotted. Most post-I19 respecs completed. And thoughts to the future are coming up.
Tier 1 alpha? Equivalent of 12 merits. Tier 2? Equivalent of 20 merits past the tier 1. So what of the future, then?
Obviously you'll be able to save up shards and use them for anything. Anyone saving up extra components, or people too nervous that they'll just accumulate stuff they'll never use?
And what about Ham-O's? Anyone taking the component from STF/LRSF instead of a Ham-O?
Most of my incarnates have just a few extras left over after getting their uncommon. And then there is Operative Tessa me badger... over 75 shards and around 10-12 common components saved for the whatever comes next. I haven't bothered to craft any uncommon components yet figuring I'll wait and just see what is required. But unless they come up with a whole new batch of TFS with new components to be earned or crafted.. I figure whatever we need has to come from the basics we have now.
Now I can see us needing to craft a lot more uncommon components to build a rare or very rare enhancer .. who know they could even come up with a very rare component or two we need to craft FROM the uncommons. Something like this as an example:
Rare Enhancer might require:
1 Uncommon enhancer
3 uncommon components
Very Rare Enhancer might require
1 Uncommon Enhancer
2 uncommon components
1 rare component (crafted by combining 2 or MORE uncommon ones)
Lets face it they already assigned Hero one DNA to the LGTF, Ancient Nictus Fragment to the ITF, Dimensional Keystone to the Kahn TF and Baraccuda SF, and the Essence of the Incarnate to States TF and Lord Recluse SF. The Cathedral of Pain drop the Penumbra of Rularuu and Gr'ai Matter can be purchased with Vanguard Merits. The four uncommon Components we currently have can all be crafted using commons that already exist and that drop during TF/SFs so unless they revise the drops or give us other ways to earn new ones we have all the building blocks they can justify.. Maybe they could come out with new one you either need to craft or get by doing a Hami Raid or Mothership Raid. They could come out with a new one that you can either craft or purchase using reward merits.. same restrictions as Gr'ai Matter (only one ever 18 hours).
Very hard to tell exactly what is coming up next but I figure my MAIN/Badger will be as ready as possible when it begins -
NO WAIT WAIT! We have space Aliens, we have people being raised from the dead by space aliens... OMG the game is gradually evolving into... PLAN 9 FROM OUTERSPACE!
We must be on the look out for anyone resembling Bela Lugosi wandering around the graveyards with his arm up in front of his face and constantly chasing scantily clad females. Okay technically walking along behind them at a pace so slow he never actually catches them but the man was dead long before the movie was complete so who can blame him for moving so slow LOL -
I have to agree. While that is a cool picture and very well may be something the Praetorian Hamidon had a hand in creating it is not Hamidon.. Not unless the Praetorian version of Hami is a LOTdifferent looking than he is in the Hive or the Abyss. I have battled him in both and trust me there were no tentacles involved.. Picture a giant green jello mold with yellow, blue and green slices of fruits inside
It actually does look much more like the Hydra Tentacles you face in the Abandoned Sewer Trial and now in mission one of the Apex TF. Of course
the Clockwork got a whole new look in Praetoria so who is to say the the DE couldn't have something similar... and I do seem to recall that there were some sort of DE tentacles located in some of the deep cracks located in Faultline. I wonder if this is something we can look forward to battling in the future though. We have been sort of promised more content in Praetoria and even content above level 20. -
Quote:The biggest threat they pose to me is that I'm always queuing powers, and sometimes I'll try to flee without canceling my queued power, meaning I turn and activate something when I should be getting out of the way. I think that got me killed once.
I'm a lot more cavalier about it with ranged characters and on anyone with a self-heal. Most (but not all) of my characters have a self-heal of some sort.
Yeah this is what usually gets me too. I guess I am still used to the mindset of stand and fight. Apex always seems like more of a contest to see if you can avoid attacks rather than attacking.I always feel like I am spending way too much time trying to stay alive and way to little actually trying to defeat my opponent. Tin mage is more the standard format I am used to.. sure the AVs are tough and the mobs are +4 but I can stand my ground and fire away until nothing is left.
I do love the first mission of Apex. The three sepearte parts make it interesting and I LOVE battling the Warwalkers to defend the PPD HQ in Kings Row. -
I soloed her with my SD/SS Tank. Died once when One With The Shield ran out but after a quick trip to the Hospital I finished her off. I used one teir three purple along with my Secondary Mutation and Buff pet to add to my defenses. She puts up a good fight but can be soloed.
-
Quote:hehehehehehehehe Oh sorry you said try NOT to laugh. The hardest part of Tin Mage is mission one.. once you get past Director 11 its not that big a deal. And if you think taking on Neuron and Bobcat is tough just wait till you try Battle Maiden and her flying swords/blue clouds of instant death.I'm sorry you think that the Tin Mage TF is too hard. Try the Apex TF, it's much, much easier.
*tries not to laugh*
I have completed several Tin Mages and at this point the ONLY badge I still need is the Dodger (for somehow managing to complete mission one without setting off any mines). I am still working on completing Apex once .. I'll get it eventually just need to find a team willing to keep dying until we win. -
Quote:Posted by DjeannieUmm you're not an incarnate until after you complete the arc and slot the alpha. The arc is the path to becoming an incarnate.
What's wrong with a challenge?
Now I haven't tried this since the changes but it is what it is. Take a step back, breathe and figure it out.
So any AT that has issues should have to go and buy / gather temp powers because their AT sucks so bad they can't solo a mission meant to be soloable by everyone. Yeah that'll make you feel like an incarnate.
Ummmm even after you complete the arc you are NOT an incarnate just on the path toward it and have not even managed to slot the one lone power power you now can increase.
The point is not every player has unlimited time to set all this stuff up. Sure back up radios, envenomed daggers, Shivan, Warwolfs, ect will help but if we are talking about those players that can only play on weekends or only a few hours a few nights a week how long are they supposed to take setting all this stuff up just to complete ONE mission?
... Shivan Go to Bloody Bay and collect samples from all the Metors, find a Pillbox complex and destroy all the guns and then carft your Shivan Shard. Lets say that takes 20-30 minutes solo (less if you are teaming since you can take out the guns quicker)
... Warwolf Whistle Head to Ouroborus if you don't already have, or have used your origianl up, and run through the arc until you get the right mission. Hey maybe you get lucky and get it in 1-2 mission or maybe you aren't and end up doing most of Tobias Hansens arc (8 missions in all) before he finally hands you the one that grants that whistle so you could be looking at an hour or more.
... Back Up Radio Now your spending INF at Wentworths something not every player has a lot of although with things the way they are now those players are very few
... Base Empowerments Sounds great but not everyone belongs to a Super group and not every SG base has empowerment stations.
Look I am not disagreeing with anyone here.. You are talking to a Temp power Junkie and a lot of my 50 levels have as many as 8 icon trays open just to hold all the stuff they have. I run or help run several SGs and every one of them has the highest level empowerment station available. My 50 Level Badger has every single slot IOed and has even built IOs for several other 50s I have (since she is the one with the field crafting table and every single generic IO recipe memorized) and she still has close to 1 Billion in INF available. But not every player has all those advantages and while I don't think everything should be handed to us on a silver platter .. making the very first mission of a new system almost impossible for SOME players to even attempt without help hardly seems fair.
I argued that changing it so it was not possible to taunt Trapdoor away from his clones was wrong. At that point people were saying ALL you need to do is knock him into the lava and he dies. I still can't see the difference between using knockback to defeat him and using taunt and holds to defeat him are any different. Its called strategy... find your enemy's weakness and exploit it to your advantage. -
They announced a 2 hour (maximum) down time begining at 1PM Eastern Time. While they gave no details the general consensus was this is to fix the problems everyone is experiencing with the Winter Lord portion of the event content. I plan to check back in about 20 minutes. They always say 2 hours JUST to be safe but if that's all they are fixing I'm sure it will take much less time.

Day one of 2010's Winter Event and already the usual rude behavior has begun.. I was in Grandville opening up presents and frequently finding small spawns of 4,5 or 6 Winter Horde roaming around waiting to be defeated or to despawn.
I made the following post in broadcast;
Broadcast] Operative xxx (ME) ahhh and the traditional .. I don't have time to deal with my own mess So if its a naughty package i just run off and leave has begun here in Grandville Lovely to see the holiday tradition continues
[Broadcast] Operative xxx (ME): clean up your messes
And of course I got the typical replies:
[Broadcast] BACKTALKER ONE: i don't have a dog
[Broadcast] BACKTALKER TWO: I've never understood why people complain about that
Broadcast] BACKTALKER ONE: Can't watch their step?
I tried to explain knowing full well it was useless:
[Broadcast] Operative xxx (ME): how about because I am a 50 level i spawn a 49 level group and a 40 level stumbles on them HE DIES
[Broadcast] Operative xxx (ME): oh and guess what I have gotten candy canes from killing spawns MY spawns So your lossing out leaving them
Then I got this ....
[Broadcast] BACKTALKER TWO: So, lets say I want the Toy Collector badge on a support toon who can't solo a full group of spawns. It's not too hard to just watch where you're going, or to avoid mobs altogether if you're a low level
Now I didnt bother to reply because I have seen these arguments before and you can't convince anyone of ANYTHING in this game. But I couldn't help but wonder if your build is so bad that you can't handle a 3 minion spawn from a Holiday Gift Package solo then maybe instead of racing around from package to package as fast as possible you should be looking to get on a RESPEC team because you seriously need to work on your build. I have played Defenders, Controllers, Corrupters and Dominators not to mention MasterMinds (all of the typical "support" ATs) and I can't think of a single build I ever had that was so weak I couldn't deal with a 3 man mob of minions. The best part was I was running outside the city along the beach on the west side and MY spawns were coming up everything from level 40 to level 49. I never even saw a 50 level spawn from a package I opened so if the same was happening to others .. you are honestly telling me you can't tackle a spawn that's as much as 5 or 6 levels lower than you? NO what you are doing is seeing just how fast you can get from package to package and you couldn't care less if that means someone else ends up in debt because YOUR time is too important to be wasted actually defeating your own spawn.
Ahhh the holidays are here and the RUDE IDIOTS are back Merry Christmas to us one and all !!
