I started playing the game using two ATs.. Scrappers and MMs so I have been in almost permanent Scrapperlock for more than 5 years now
My phylosophy with almost any character is just keep firing until there is nothing left to attack.. then lets go find some new stuff to attack!
I think one of my FAVORITE moments was on a recent ITF with my Fire/Fire/Flame Blaster at 50 (+1). One the first mission the tank, for some reason, went right instead of left after taking out that first mob and most of the team including me headed down to free the first three Sybils. Well someone managed to aggro the whole room and I stood there with all my toggles going and firing off every attack I had as fast as I could ( I have hasten so that can get pretty fast). More than half the team was on the floor around me and I figured I was going to but was determined to take as many with me as possible. I popped a few inspirations to keep my hela up and before I knew it the only left standing was ME!
Avenger 6 is by far my best DPS character and it suprised even me when I managed to take down the room.. Now I will admit before they fell my team mates helped but a BLASTER that maganed to survive longer than the scrapper? I couldn't help but chuckle and think to myself "I IS AWESOME!" hehehe -
No not really. I think the main reason I have SO many characters is once I hit 50 with one and started to run out of contacts I'd retire them and start another because the idea of running nothing but newspaper or radio missions bored me. Granted doing the same set of high level TFs over and over for shards is similar but I look at it as working toward my goal.. being the best I can be with each of my incarnates. And when i get bored or tired of doing the same thing I just switch gears and do something else. My main in my Crab spider and she is also my badger so last night I didnt feel like running yet 'another" Numina TF and did her tip missions ... I picked up one shard and, please don't hate me, had a purple recipe drop that I was able to sell at WW for 405 Million in INF. In the midst of all the Incarnat hype Tessa has continued her badging and spent a little over 4 hours a week ago completing the Doc Q task Force which means that she has now done every TF, SF and Trial presently available in the game. She has every available exploration badge on both the Gold, Red and Blue side and every history Badge as well.
Of course Tessa is not the only character I am running through the incarnate system.. I have 11 Fifty levels currently working through it and seven have their tier 4 in place, all but one are up to tier 3 and are 50 (+1) and even one that hasn't gotten to 51 level status has an uncommon slotted.
I don;t feel any pressure to rush through stuff to be better.. I have seen plenty of TFs that had 50(+1)s, 50s and other players as low as 35 (in Cimerora) all on the same team. So I don't really feel anyone is pressing for NO ONE MY TEAM UNLESS YOU ARE A 51 LEVEL! Frankly I enjoy the idea that my 5o levels have something to work towards and I don't need to keep making new characters to run through the SAME content as I level them. We have two new TFs so far and while they are pretty short its new Incarnate content and with Issue 20 we will pick up 2 new trials .. add in the 45-50 level TFs and SFs (a lot of my characters are Rogues or Vigilantes) and we are getting quite a bit of stuff to do. Heck I almost forgot the two different Hami raids (red and blue side) and the Mothership raids we can also join. Best part is all 11 of my incarnates has an IO in every slot and thanks to kill all runs on TFS and numerous Purple drops I now have three different characters that are billionaires and not one of the others has less than 250 million.
Pressure? heck I am thinking of just bribing all the villains to stay home .. Game over I win! LOL -
Quote:Only if they add more to villainside would I approve of them doing any more work to heroside.
Once again I find myself agreeing with Lothic. Now I play both blue and red side but one thing I always LIKED red side was less zones. Cry if you like but when a villain starts out he or she has one option Mercy. Progress far enough and you head to Port Oakes... once there no contact you get sends you off to Mercy or worse to some hazard zone, like Perez or the Hollows, to run a mission they all take place IN PORT OAKES! This same trend follows as you head to Cap and then even Sharkhead. Only one zone for that level means a lot less travel time to accomplish tasks and get back to your contact for more. Frankly I always felt villains had a bit of a leveling advantage in that especially back in the days when no one got ANY sort of temp travel power and had to run everywhere until level 14. Then add in the fact the when it first started Villains got access to Mayhem missions and raptor pack an issue prior to them designing Safeguards for heroes. Oh and I have contacts red side that I have NEVER done a single mission for but when I approach them I can buy any type of inspiration available.. BLUE SIDE? I get 3 choices until I do enough missions for a contact to prove myself WORTHY of his inspiration supply.
I'm not saying Red side doesn't come up short in other areas... Where the heck is our 30+ level Strike Force? Why don't we get more GMs to battle? (of course I know part of that answer is with limited zones they didn't want to have a GM spawning in every single red zone)It still amazes me that some of the accolade with powers we want include tasks that FORCE us into PvP zones and even require us to DIE and work off a certain amount of debt? DUH who came up with that idea? But who says that part of their master plan isn't to do some of those same sort of things to existing zones on Red Side? -
Quote:I saw a bit of this during the BAF sneak preview..OK I have played games that use anyone can queue systems to form teams. Here is the more then typical result.
1: team forms people take 1 look at each other and say NO WAY! and quit.
2: A random person has no idea whats happening and ultimate team fail till people quit.
3: no one uses it and does somethign else instead.
4: Everything takes 3x the time it should have and people never want to do it again.
5: People join and its all weak build n00bs and they can not win the battle cause there is no tanks and no healers.
Common outcome. FAIL.
Just curious, Personally I hope we can still form teams the way we always have in the past for these things. But if this becomes the norm, I can see a whole new level of rage team quiters emerging.
1. First try I signed up solo and was "assigned" to a team. When we teleported into the BAF the "TEAM LEADER" was in panic mode because he never wanted to lead and had never done the trial before.. he was just the first person to join the queue when that team was built.
2. Same trial as above the team consisted of the first 8 players that logged into the queue while teams were forming. No leadership decisions to ensure we had enough damage, buffs, debuffs or whatever... We ultimately failed BADLY.
Now the second time I joined a team in Pocket D and then the team leader, who had done the trial before and built a team based on what was needed and what was available, joined the queue.. we all immediately joined as well as ONE team. Much much better results
The Queue can be a very effective tool to build multiple teams for doing anything from a Mothership Raid, Cathedral of Pain, Hamidon Raid or the new trials (BAF and LAMDA Section) but to ensure you get a winning mix its better to team build first and THEN join the queue. Unless you like the idea of Russian Roulette team building and have the attitude ..."okay let's SEE if we can make this work!" -
Quote:I disagree; zone hunts aren't the problem. Things interfering with them are. It's unfortunate if someone gets stuck with this, but I don't think the answer is to remove the objective with a sterile "kill these ducks in this room" replacement.
At least in the Numina TF design, maybe giving a choice of zones for the kill would be the answer. "Arrest 20 Hellions in Atlas Park OR Galaxy City", that kinda thing? That way, if one zone is under Invasion, then an alternate zone would be feasible, but it still keeps the spirit of the hunt requisite intact.
See now THAT idea makes sense. Tell me go defeat 20 Council and I can head to Brickstown (never gets attacked by Rikti), Striga (also no Rikti Invasions) , Steel Canyon, IP 9and again no Rikti so at least one less zone event to worry about) and so one.. same with the Vahzilok .. instead of hunting though cracks and crevices in Faultline I can hit Galaxy City, Kings Row, Steel Canyon or even Atlas Park. Personally I still think the whole run all over the city fighting a pile of low level villains thing could be scrapped but at least with your idea we'd have options. If a zone event was occurring in one zone but three others where that same group hamds out were clear and available! -
Basically for the same reason you don't see or can't make VEATS. At the moment Praetoria is designed to be played until level 20 at which point you are supposed to chose either a life on Primal earth as a hero (blue side) or a villain (red side). Since neither Kheldians or Soldiers of Arachnos become available until level 20 it's not feasible for them to exist in Preatoria.. not to mention their canon background stories tie them to Primal earth.
There has been talk here on the forums of coming up with a third Epic Arch Type designed specifically for Praetoria but no word on when, or if, the Devs will produce such a creature.
I have heard that brand new players starting out in Preatoria don't even get the option with their first 20 level character to create a HEAT or VEAT as as second and actually have to create a character in either Paragon or the Rogue Isles and level that one to 20 efore they can make any epic. Howvever since I was playing long before Praetoria came along and had both HEAT and VEAT options available when you still needed to level a character to 50 I have no way to confirm that.. just something I recall seeing here on the forums.Hope that helped answer your question

Actually I sort of feel just the opposite. I have more than twenty level 50 characters on the Virtue Server and most were in semi retirement as I continued to level other characters rather than continue to play old ones. Since the incarnate stuff hit I started with 9 characters I picked from my various Super Groups and began running through the TFS for shards and components. I have increased that number to 11so far and 1 of those is a brand new 50 level Blaster I hit Five O with doing the WST a few weeks back. Ten of the 11 are at 50 (+1) now and 7 have their tier 4 in place. When I get the other 4 to that status I am considering adding one one incarnate so I have three from each of the Sgs I belong to and help run.
My lower levels are suffering a bit but I still pull them out now and then just for a change of pace.. I can only do SO many of the same task Force in one day and since I have 7 days to basically do 11 .. why not play a 20+ level now and then just to see something different?
As for the others .. No I probably won't run multiple TFS to anhance them as well. So they are sort of retired and I may even move some to another server to free up slots on Virtue (next time they let us do it for free of course LOL). -
Quote:Heh. Wait 'til Synapse is the WST/WTF. Huge herds of Babbages stomping through Skyway!
Yeah I believe I made mention of that in another post. I can't wait to see the herds of raging Babbage in Skyway as players TRY to get through that TF andc just skip attacking him. LOL should be interesting and could actually be a challenge.. How many babbage can you purpled out 50 (+1) ... Tank, Scrapper, Blaster, WHATEVER solo at one time?
I have to say I did a number of Numinas today and have done 8 total since it started Tueday. Longest run time .. 2 hours (the one with the two delays caused by zone events) Shortest was 51 minutes. Most have been around 1 hour with one I did tonight taking 1:20 and that was the only one I have seen delayed due to a zone event since my first on Tuesday (ZOMBIE attack in Galaxy.. yeah that's right we managed to take out the Clockwork in Atlas and Outcast in Steel and then got an unscheduled coffee break).
I am noticing a good bit of competition in some zones for kills. On one TF there must have been 3 teams in Talos all after the same mobs of Warriors and on several I have seen 2-4 teams attacking Rikti in FF followed very quickly by the same teams fighting over the same mobs of DE and Nemesis in Eden.
The Ice Minstral SF is a lovely idea except not everyone has a Rogue or Vigilante that can jump back and forth between red an blue side. Most of my Villians are Rogues but only a few of my heroes became Vigilantes ..I opted for hero merits over a few more badges with all but my badger characters.
This shouldn't be a problem the next few weeks when the WST shifts back to, in my opinion, what it should be anyway and we get the ITF followed by Tin Mage (45 and up content that drops SHARDS). Then we can all sit back and watch the mayhem again when Manticore become the WST .. at least 2 hunt missions in that where you need to defeat 25 and then 40 Crey. All my incarnate have the NotW they really need so i may set a lwan chair up on the roof of the tram Station in Brickstown and watch the excitement LOL -
Quote:On first try at positron
you thought that was hard? if positron tf is busting your *** i got some bad news for you about 35 more levels!"

Now Cien be nice...
On first try at positron You think THATS hard? Come to my base and we will access the Ouro flashback of the OLD Positron. And lets make it more interesing so you can't use any temp travel powers at all you have to RUN from one mission to the next and use the trains. THAT"S how it used to be kid .. Now stop crying and get back to work!
On accident in Master runs Well no we don't get the SPECIAL badge now but thanks to your ability to NOT follow instructions we all get to spend the rest of the TF wishing we had temp powers.
On getting your first fifty Gee that's swell. So when are you planning to get enough shards together to be level 50 (+1)?
On Following the tank
Follow the tank...I dont give a **** what tank told you...Do you think im going to continue on tf with following a nine year old ? Your one crazy son of a...ch ... Wait I play tankers and I am not 9 I am crazy though LOL. My favorite along these lines is .. "Lesson # 1 NEVER follow the ILL/EMP when she is invisible. They can't see me so I don 't even want to hear you crying. YEAH I can TP and rez you but my Rez isn't up at the moment and the team wants me to find the glowie and end this mission. So you just lay there and suck on carpet for a while"
the lobby filled with bacon biscuits with melted butter and coffee .. mmmmm Coffee -
Okay let me state first off I have absolutely nothing against Numina or her TF. Along with any number of other players I occasionally tire of running all over Paragon battling (?) low level villains no contact I have has sent me to battle in ages but it's not bad and can usually be accomplished quickly.
Then there is this week... Now to date I have done 4 and three have been pretty good.. two barely over an hour long and one that took 59 minutes. Then there was the very first one I did today shortly after lunch. When our team mate arrived in Faultline to find and defeat 20 Vahzilok and Banner Event had JUST begun and we all got to stand around waiting for that to end. When we got to the 30 Warriors in Talos a Lady Grey TF had recently ended and the team leader, one of 2 in Talos, pickup up two of three badges for defeating Rikti while we waited so the Warriors would come back. We finally got that done and eventually finished in slightly, VERY VERY SLIGHTLY (1:58), under 2 hours. All those little added things that happen normally on any week are going to be driving Numina TFer crazy all this week.
Then let's add this to the mix..
[Broadcast] xxxxxxx: Kill stealers are pathetic lowlifes....By the way this comment did not show up in broadcast in Atlas Park where we used to hear such utterings years ago when 1 and 2 levels would street hunt to make levels before hitting the sewers. NO this was in Founders Falls and I saw it as i was standing next to Numina while the team leader built our team. Obviously several earlier Numinas were now fighting one another over RIKTI LOL
The name has been xed out to protect the not so innocent. With dozens of Numinas forming and going on at te same time players are battling over the few villains available in some zones.. Finding 20 Vahzilok in Faultline can be a bit of a choir anytime since they revamped the zone but if there are three TFS all looking for them at once.. It gets NASTY. We all know how tough its gotten to locate Council in Boomtown since the 5TH Coulmn returned.. well try finding 20 to defeat when 3 other teams are there looking as well. Most of the others aren't too bad but it still doesn't mean a couple teams may be fighting over the same Freakshow in CF rather than getting deeper into the zone and farther away from the exit. Heck I even had competition for Banished Pantheon in DA and for Nemesis in Eden today.
And this is day one I can just imagine what tempers will be like over the weekend when the semi casual players join the mad dash for Merits and Notices of the Well.
If any DEV sees this (highly doubtful) here are a couple hints to fix this issue for the future..
1. Change the 20 Vahzilok in Faultline to 20 LOST. We don't hunt them anywhere else and there are a lot more Lost in Faultline these days than Vahz.
2. Change the 20 Council in Boomtown to 20 5th Column OR, even better, allow us to hunt either and get credit. I have seen this elsewhere.. My Crab got credit for defeating Warwloves and Vamprii while on the Barracuda TF and she was taking out ones that belonged to the Column not the Council.
3. How about we just finally get over the idea that we need to drive TF members insane and cut a bunch of the hunts out of this thing and let us get to the actual door missions that ACTUALLY award XP, INF, Salvage and Recipes. All those hunts are nothing more than a legacy to Jack "Statesman" Emmert and his theory that everything had to be a time lag trap because if any of us reached 50 we'd grow bored and leave the game. As evidence I give you the OLD Positron TF which was finally fixed and DOC Q in the Shadow Shard which is bearable now with Ouro Portals and Mission Teleporters but at one time could take as much as 8 hours over two days to complete. Drop some or even ALL of the hunts and here's a WILD AND CRAZY IDEA ..its a TF that is supposed to revolve aroound Devouring Earth so how about adding a couple door missions that actually have us fight ..THEM!
Mission one... Freakshow
Mission two .. Crey
Mission Three.. Nemesis
Mission Four .. COT
Missions 5-19 .... EVERYTHING Imaginable
Mission 20 .. Nemesis and DE (FINALLY)
Mission 21 .. DE
Mission 22 .. DE including Jurassik TF over!
Granted with coordination and no zone event interferance the hunts can be done quickly but they aren't necessary. By Monday of next week players are going to be sick of taking repeated tours of all of Paragon City and they are already getting upset with one another now.
Anyone else have any similar stories to share? this should prove to be a very interesting week. One on One battles in the Arena may see an upward swing as players find the need to punch one another. LOL I personally will be in Cimerora battling Roman traitors long before that happens -
-
I guess it would depend on who you were teaming with. I play with friends and we spend all night joking with each other and cutting each other up. Someone dying and making Vengance an available tool would have and HAS gotten similar treatment to what you did and we were all fine with it. Hey I have several characters with Rise of the Phoenix so when I die in combat I rez and hurt a pile of NPC bad guys in the process... at 50 level debt is just another badge and normally is gone by the time we take out the next mob so who cares.
Now on a PUG with a group of people you don't know .. I could see how someone with a limited sense of humor might take that the wrong way. Personally I don't see it as rude but can see how someone else might. Yeah I Know .. "Gee thanks Wendy that was NO help at all!" lol -
Quote:Definately a myth in order for the mission to continue at least one person HAS to go up to the "Paragon Penny" (which by the way until this TF started I was completelty unaware that was the name of that thing behind Blue Steel). Here's another for you the very first Apex I did this week someone actually clicked on the glowie and took a drone activator and of course the leader was CERTAIN the attempt at a master's run was ruined. I explained as long as no one USED the thing to activate any drones it didn't matter.. guess what we completed the mission, got BOTH badges and went on to get the Master Of .... By taking out BM in less than 15 minutes. It is my understanding that to get the MO badge - it requires you get 3 bages.
Drone protector...making sure none of them die.
Burden Bearer...not activating them - and also protecting them.
Defeat Battle Maiden in 15 minutes (time off the map doesn't count).
All that said, there is a point in mission after the sewers that a red mission arrow appears...up the stairs.
To get the mission to progress someone has to go up there....at least that is my experience, having lead and gotten the MO badge on several characters.
Tonight I was accused of failing the MO portion because I ran up there to trip the mission advance. I ran immediately down the stairs. Didn't fight up there. Though at least one war walker was fought up there later (after I was blamed).
So is the person correct...just running up the steps and not using the little concrete arc in the middle the reason?
Or am I correct in saying that fighting up there got a drone destroyed?
Also - will the mission advance if someone doesn't go up there?
I do know the sword ambush on the roof doesn't trigger unless you cross to the next roof.
Is another hami Pylon Lady Grey TF myth getting started?
This is one of the reason I don't generally like MO runs unless its clearly stated at the start "If we fail no big deal". Certain players get so wrapped up in obtaining a badge that they become rude and obnoxious over the stupidest little things. And with Apex and Tin Mage all that makes even less sense.. The Old school master of badges required a team to complete the entire TF with no deaths and no temp powers and once you failed YOU FAILED. But with the Master of runs associated with these new TFs you can earn X number of badges this time and then simply run the same thing again, and again and again until you get the final ones to acquire the MO Badge. So for whatever reason your team didn't earn a badge required on that run.. all your RUDE Leader needed to do was run the TF again and he/she probably would have gotten it the second time.
Some people just get too wound up in things for their own good. Gee I had 2 seperate STF attempts fail the week it was the WST on the LAST mission and after we'd taken out all of Recluse's Lieutenants and the Arachnos Flyer or in other words.. after close to 90 minutes the TANK couldn't hold Aggro long enough for us to take out the towers. After those two teams decided to break up I just found another and got my Notice. When Kahn was the WST I was on a MO run with my tanker and we breezed through everything to the final mission and had taken out the last of Reichmann's AV allies and had him down to a sliver of health. Then one of the squishy team members got a bit to close to Reichmann when he set off that Lightning attack of his and ended up dead. About 1 minute later so did Reichmann and the team got our Notices. No one was upset and everyone had a great time.
My advice to you if you can even remember the leader's name.. Create a note on him and simply never team with him again. Obviously he takes things WAY to seriously. -
Quote:While doing multiple Sister Psyches and Apexes for the Assist Badge, I was flabbergasted at all the responses such as, "Can you use a Blaster?" "Is a Widow OK?" etc...
Sheesh. Maybe people think that Apex is like a LRSF, but to be concerned over AT make-up on a Sister Psyche?!
I changed my recruiting calls to add: "... All ATs welcome."
I always find this hysterical. Let's see recently I did an ITF.. No Tank or Brute at all but the Scrappers amd Blasters we had generated enough damage to overwhelm anything we faced and the Controllers locked down everything including Rommi. To give you an idea of how hard we struggled in mission three we took out Romulus, Requim and the Phallanx Generator all at the same time and no one died. Uh huh we NEED a Tank on that for sure.
Did a LGFT where the Brute quit on us before mission one ended (apparently he was assuming we were doing a SPEED RUN and was highly upset in tells with the leader when we had the nerve to actually save Penny in Mission one and defeat the Clockwork king instead of letting her die.. OH Heavens!LOL). As we continued on we lost one controller and a scrapper so by the time we hit Hami we were down to 5. Even I figured we'd fail but we managed to polish off the Mitos and Hami and then breezed through Honoree and Hro' Dtohz. I won't say it wasn't a bit of an effort but we didn't just give up and we succeeded.
The "To succeed we must have .. 1 Tank for Aggros, 1 Defender to heal 1 or 2 controlled to hold, buff or debuff and LOTS AND LOTS of damage" that we still see at times amazes me after 7 years of teams proving that just isn't true with THIS MMO.
I didn't do a lot of Apex TFs this week. All my Incarnates have the Notices they need to make very rares but a few still needed Shards so I have been doing a lot of ITFs, a couple LGTF and a few STFs. I did do 5 Apex and four were successful.. three were even Master or runs and several of my characters now have that badge.. One already had the Master of but two more joined her. -
If it delays issue 20? NO I agree that only giving us the option for Praetorian Pets sucks but I am not SO upset by the idea I want to delay the next issue just to revamp that. Hopefully we get more options or IF we complain enough we could get a patch 20.5 (?) that adds more.
As for you hoping that future 50+ content will get away from Praetoria I'd have to say you are going to be disappointed. From what is now posted on Issue 20 not only do we get the two new trials, BAF and Lamda, that both take place in Praetoria but one of the two new 20-40 level TFs revolves around Col Duray of Preatoria joining forces with Col Duray of the Skyraiders. Prior to this no one saw any content that involved the Praetorians until after level 40 when you start to get missions from Tina on Peregrine Island. All the end game content seems to be focused around Emperor Cole and his minons.. Apex TF, Tin Mage TF and now the BAF and Lamda Section trials. About the only thing we got that doesn't involve them is the new Cathedral of Pain and you don't have to be anywhere near 50 level to join that. -
Sure you can. That's the advantage of having the option for dual builds on any character. One thing you need to keep in mind.. Since your first build is a crab even though the second will be Bane powers your character will still have the crab backpack in place. Once a cab .. always a crab

Quote:I'd define casual as "without planning". Casual players hop in and do stuff - they don't plan out when to play and what to do. They just do whatever.
This is probably the best way to describe a "Casual" player. Casual can mean different things to different people. Just because a player is casual doesn't mean they can't have millions in INF.. all that takes is one Purple Drop and a quick trip to Wentworths or the Black Market. IO sets ir even Purple IOs.. hey it would take a while but even only playing 1 hour a day anyine could manage 5 hero or villain tips and be buying recipes etc.
A casual player could be any of the following depending on how other people look at and play the game...
Only plays a hour or two a night and not every night. RL limits the time available to play and that's all the time they have. While on they may solo, team, TF, or whatever but they just don't have unlimited time to devote to just playing COH.
Only plays on weekends. Agan RL prevents a certain player from getting on line and playing except or their days off. NOW on those days off they may be on 6, 7 or even more hours at a time doing whatever but don't look for them when the work/school week starts back up. During the time on they obviously can and would do just about anything any other player does... team, sol, etc
Compared to those of us that play every day for X number of hours all of the above could be considered CASUAL. -
I still don't particularly enjoy Apex and find Tin mage much more fun but I have learned to fight and run and yesterday managed 5 Apex TFs with only one failure.. Of course that is the first failed WST attempt I have had since week one when on two straight days I managed to wind up teamed with the SAME inept leader that got us into situations in the last mission of the STF where we simply could not finish. The first was due mainly to him insisting on attempting a Master of run with a team composition that clearly wasn't strong enough.. we failed that attempt in mission two and then were forced to go without temp powers the rest of the way. Then when our tank proved a little too squishy to stand toe to toe with LR and it was suggested he hover.. "I don't have fly and I can't use my RAPTOR pack we can't access temps" DUHHHHHHH
One thing I have noticed already this week ... We are into weel #5 and all any character needs to craft two rares and one very rare are four Notices of the well. The RWZ is not jam packed with people desperate to find an APEX and I pulled out my new 50 level Blaster and easily found an STF and an ITF to get enough shards so I could slot her Alpha and then make her my 4th Incarnate to complete the APEX as the WST. A lot of players are simply saying.. Okay Apex is the WST? See you next week when its something that doesn't frustrate and annoy me.
Yeah I know people are saying they love Apex cause its more of a challenge but I think my problem with it is this... I spend more time running around trying to save my own skin than I do actually fighting anything. As I mentioned I did 5 yesterday.. one with my Crab Spider (Set up as an AoE machine), 3 with Blasters and one with my Bots/DM Mastermind. Three guesses which At was on the lone failed attempt... WRONG and WRONG it was the MM. My pets didn't last more than a few seconds and after a while I just stopped even trying to rez them. That left me with 5 attacks (including my Epics) and my DM debuffs. Half the time I couldn't get close enough to BM to even use most of those thanks to the placement of the Blue Clouds of Almost Instant death and when I did manage to find a spot to use one .. as soon as I got off one debuff 3-4 of those stupid flying swords appeared out of no where and I'd face plant AGAIN.
Can ANYONE see how this might be considered annoying by most of the player base? Forget usng half of your powers (which you worked through 50 levels to obtain), Keep moving constantly or risk almost certain death, spend half your time trying to find a spot you can fire off a couple attacks before its time to run away again, oh and JUST to add to the frustration when you do get off an attack HARRY POTTER has sent a thousand magic swords to one shot shot. HAVE FUN!
I have been on Beta previewing Issue 20 and while the BAF is a challenge at least we can actually ATTACK and use all the powers we have there. THAT is infinately more fun to me than the nightmare that APex sends us into. I LOVE mission one but they can take BM and her clouds of death and shove it. LOL I am done for the week and will concentrate on other TFS that give good shards and components. -
Quote:The flip side of this is that there are people out there who like to team but -don't- like to lead teams for whatever reason. If there was some kind of "extra" bonus for leading you might encourage team generation in some cases, but you'd also negatively force some people to do an activity they really don't want to do just so they don't lose out on the bonus. This leader bonus idea might also encourage more blind/annoying/random invites from eager types who might otherwise not bother people that way.
Bottomline I think this idea could introduce as many negative outcomes as positive ones.
I agree Lothis and there is another aspect to consider as well. Start handing out a bonus to anyone willing to "LEAD" a team and we will most definately see an increase in those "Leaders" that have no business at all leading any team. We all know the type I mean... No clue how to recruit, Never done this TF before in their life, heck I even had a Rogue start a Sister Psyche last week then used his Ouro portal and couldn't understand why the contact wouldn't talk to him WHIlLE HE WAS IN CAP.. to top it off we had to give him directions to get him back to the blue side.
My vote is leave things just the way they are.. Leaders earn credit toward 6 different levels of Mentoring badges. -
Quote:How is that disagreeing with me? I think it actually agrees with me. There is no heal aggro in this game, and you're saying the same thing.
Opps Sorry Aett your right! the thread is getting long and I disagreed with the wrong poster. My BAD hehehe
Just to clarify things a bit, YEAH THAT WILL HAPPEN ON THE FORUMS, just because a Defender or Controller has and uses heals doesn't mean it is the only thing they are doing. In fact if they are any GOOD at all it better not be the only thing they are doing. Defenders do have an ATTACK set in case anyone forgot and as mentioned previously even the best TANK in the world can lose aggro for a moment .. If that Defender is firing off an attack at that same moment guess who the AV is headed to next? AS I mentioned in my other post here some times all it takes is being the next closest target. My Ill/EMP was pretty much concentrating on CM, Fort and heals when Black Scorpion came over and gave me a love tap.. a tap that one shotted my cute but squishy self and sent me to the hospital onboard ship. -
Quote:Because access to Fort Trident/the Crucible is the perk of being straight Hero/Villain, kinda like Rogue Isles/Paragon City access is the perk of being Vigilante/Rogue.
And you think staying a straight Hero or Villain has NO other perks besides access to Fort Trident or the Crucible?
How about actually being able use your Ouro portal to rapidly transport from one zone to another on Task Forces... Rogues get to haul out the calculator and start figuring the fastest route while on a Blue side TF and same thing for Vigilantes on some Red side SFs.
Heroes and Villains that do tip missions earn A merits that can be accumulated and used to purchase purple recipes. No matter how many Reward merits a Rogue or Vigilante acquire the only methods they have of acquiring purples is through Drops during missions or purchasing them at the Markets.
Better access to inspirations. A Hero or Villain can go to any of their old or current contacts and buy whatever they like in any zone. If I am playing a Rogue in Paragon City even the few contacts I have earned from doing Radio missions won't talk to me and I either have to head to Pocket D, the RWZ, Cimerora (If I have opened up a contact there), or head back to the RED side or my base for INSPs. or find the hospital and the combat nurse.
As I mentioned you find a bunch of duplicate contacts for Task Forces in FT Trident .. TFS that a Rogue or Vigilante can join BUT a Vigilante (still considered a hero) can't get inside? So if they end up having to go to the zone where the original contact is to run that Task Force anyway.. why even bother putting those contacts in Ft Trident? Cause it looks cool? LOL -
Okay Chaos first of all I have seen this tactic used countless times and I have NEVER seen the Rikti survive long enough to even damage a single Mitos let alone kill one .. Not saying it isn't possible but highly unlikely. Pulling the Rikti into the goo does only one thing.. Gets them all killed quick so the team can move on to the Mitos. In short its a SPEED RUN Tactic to move things along faster.
Now for the question you asked before.. WHY not just do what people ask you? Well how about because it makes no sense. Since this whole thing with leaving the pylons up started I have lost count of the number of LGFTs I have done where this tactic was used and it didn't stop Hami from attacking the team at all. Someone somehow got the idea in their head that leaving those Pylons up HELPED the team survive more. Coordinating attacks and having a good team that knows what to do makes the team survive more. I have been on Lady Greys that went like clockwork.. Rikti and Pylons gone, yellow attacked by Melee and Blue by ranged (AT THE SAME TIME) and then target through one player to wipe out the Greens. And since when can't a player ask a simple question like .. "Excuse me why are we leaving the pylons up?" without getting kicked from a Task force? So what you are saying is if you joined a TF and the leader said .. Okay I heard that if we al just ignore the towers and rush Lord Recluse, debuff him and pour it on we can beat him. So when we get to the last mission of this STF that's how we are going to do it. You wouldn't question his or her SANITY? and ask where the heck did you hear that crap? -
Quote:Want to know what the current WST is on your Vigilante/Rogue? Well too bad! Maybe you should commit to an actual side, then maybe we'll tell you.
Gating knowledge of content based on alignment is a terrible idea. MOTD would be good, except it's not 100% reliable in popping up when it should (99%, maybe). A contact in Atlas and a contact in Cap would do it; they're both the zone hubs for their respective alignments, and you don't need to worry about baby villains wading through a zone full of purples since they can't do their first SF until level 15 anyway.
Okay DarkGob sorry until your post I had NO idea Vigilantes could not get into Ft Trident. I actually logged one of my VIG on and now I have another suggestion.. Since A vigilante is still considered a HERO and a Rogue still a VILLAIN just why exactly can't they get into the Ft Trident and the Crucible? Of course they can't go there and BUY things with A Merits.. they 't earn any but duplicate contacts for every TF , okay most not every, in the game are there and last I checked heroes, viglilantes and rogues could do Posi 1, Posi 2, Synapse, Citadel, Manticore and Numina. Ah well until THAT changes... IF ever.. Let's go with the extra tab on the contact like the one we have now for Tip Missions.. or your idea for a NPC contact in Atlas and Cap so any level character can get there in one piece which is why I thought Ft T and the Crucible would be perfect to begin with. /em rolls eyes "I can NOT believe my Vigilantes can't get into Ft Trident. DUMB, DUMB DUMB! -
Quote:I rolled up a demon summoner after seeing how awesome demons look in action. My mercenaries were getting a little stale.
And then I discovered that demons are unable to properly /emote many things! They won't play the drums for me, but they will hold torches... do any other power sets suffer this limitation? I love masterminds and will eventually want to try every flavor of them... the ones that can /em correctly, at least.
Okay let me see if I have this right..... Now I am not saying that Demon Sommoning is THE best MM powerset there is but it certainly is not the worst.. Your minons give you added defense along with some great damage. BUT you aren't happy with the powerset because when you hit Pocket D, or whatever, they don't do all the coolest dances and emotes?
In keeping with the flow of the day since tonight was the 83rd Annual Oscar.
And the winner for about the GOOFIEST reason not to use a powerset goes to...

Farming bores me<----- Agrees with this. I'd rather run mission(S) and get a little different view from time to time than just mindlessly keep circling some city block beating on Demons or whatever. If it make you happy then fine but I have only RARELY visited farms and usually when I was [ ] that close to leveling and couldn't find a team.. I'd grab my next level after one or two passes and be on my way.. AND NO WAY I'D EVER PAY SOMEONE FOR THE PRIVILEDGE.
