  1. I have to agree with the majority here. Not that I haven't seen my share of idiots that didn't listen to what anyone said and usually managed to get, at best, themselves killed and at worst the team. But I have seen the other side of this as well...

A couple weeks ago I joined a team doing the STF. Now everyone on the team was 50 (+1) and while I didn't bother going in to check badges I am 100% certain that all of them had done the STF before. The fact that they had enough Notices to be at least tier 3 meant they did it when it was the WST and of course our illustrious leader asked "Anyone never do this TF before?" To which the answer ranged from a simple no to "Done it dozens of times".

The leader, a TANK (why does it always seem to be a tank that gets a little crazy? No offense tankers I play the AT myself), proceeded to carefully explain each part of his master plan for each mission.. Or to put it another way .. bored us all to death stating the obvious. Before we were permitted to launch into attack mode. I even got yelled at for taking out a few vines as we were defeating the COT that surround the Thorn Tree..... I was told they'd only grow back and I was wasting time. Funny I'd done the dang TF about 6 times recently and found just the opposite to be true.. Its the STF NOT the Red side TREESPEC. Anyway this sort of micro management continued until the final mission. Now We had a GOOD team and I have seen teams with less take on and defeat all 4 lieutenants at once but BRIGHT BOY insisted that if more than one arrived after we pulled we had to break off and retreat to the ship. Well how many of you have seen anyone that was able to pull just ONE of those 4 on a regular basis? We got two and our big strong STONE tank was the first to break and run for the ship insisting we follow. After two more trys we finally got Mako solo and were taking him down nicely when GEE look here comes Black Scorion... Okay we held our ground and took down both which seemed to puzzle our Fearless(?) leader. Fortunately we got lucky and the next pull only brought Scirroco so we finished up and moved to the next phase.

At this point I realized this guy has some GUIDE, probably found here, and is running through it step by step like it is the only POSSIBLE way to succeed. We took out the flyer and then all the ground troops before attacking the towers. I will give him this much he WAS able to hold Recluse's attention with help from the EMP defender I am sure someone told him he HAD to have along LOL But he drove me crazy typing in things like "Make sure to defeat those repairmen or they will just keep the tower up longer" Ummm Gee I didn't KNOW that. and I guess you are mission the combat logs saying XXXX defeats Arachnos Repairman every 20 seconds or so. /em rolls eyes

We finally managed to compete the TF and in only about 50 minutes longer than any one I have been on recently.. and keep in mind I AVOID SPEED RUNS. Oh and it is the first time in a while that no one on the team said thanks for the invitation.. we all just clicked quit TF and RAN away fast... I one starred the leader first to make sure I never join a team he's running again.

Now I don't know all the particulars of your team and I am assuming there were details you left out but basically team leader in most cases just means "I am willing to talk to the contact and send out a few messages to build the team" It does not make you GOD. Heck I have joined teams where the "TEAM LEADER" didn't have a clue and was standing there doing nothing but announcing in broadcast he was building a team... while I was sending messages to 8 different global chat channels and MYSTERIOUSLY the team filled. LOL Face facts .. these days between people after shards and people after notices in most cases you can build a team just by sending out invites to the players standing around the TF contact. After that your biggest responsibility is to get back to the contact as fast as possible after mission one to get mission two.. in most cases after that you have their cell number and all you have to do is SET THE NEXT MISSION.. it doesn't take a genius. EVEN I CAN AND HAVE DONE IT lol

They are going to HAVE to do that anyway do to the fact that Villain side we only have 6 total SFs. Oh and I am sure anyone that plays nothing but villains will be heartbroken if they get to run a Silver Mantis SF for their weekly Notice and finish in 90 minutes or less while Heroes are struggling through 4 -5 hours trying to complete a Doc Q in the Shadow Shard.

I didn't bother to post when this was first announced but come on.. Okay so the villains are out of SFs and have to repeat.. And that means heroes can't be tasked to run Citadel? or Synapse? or Posi 1? Posi 2? I wasn't happy with this new system when it first came out to begin with.. I have 50 level characters that still need shards to hit tier three or four and I HAVE to do a Manticore to get my Notice? Which mean until Issue 20 I get NO shards and I obtain Recipes and salvage at the level of the TF/SF I am on instead of 50 level stuff I can actually USE and of course forget the possibility of a PURPLE recipe drop while running a Manticore or Sister Psyche. But EVERYONE said we had to include the lower level TFs for the players below 50 so they can get the double Merits. I figured okay at least as the TFs post I can get a few of my 50s that never did them all the TF Commander in addition to the weekly Notice. NOW we aren't doing all the TFS because someone might get upset because hero side has more options than villain? LOOK I play BOTH sides and you want more options heres a little friendly advice.. try using the systems in place and GO ROGUE or VIGILANTE.. you'd be amazed but suddenly all the TFs, SF and even trails on BOTH sides are open to you. Heck I have even done Hami raids on both the red and blue side.. IN THE SAME WEEKEND and COP Trial (with different character) on both sides in the same DAY.

In case you can't tell I am a little bit tired of the same old excuse to justify everything being thrown out.. "Well it might upset someone" What about the X number of players this kind of crap upsets anyway? To Paraphrase PT Barnum.. "You can please some of the people some of the time, most of the people most of the time BUT you can't please all of the people all of the time!"

Now a HUGE DEAL was made when the WST first appeared and we were told it could be ANY TF from Posi 1 all the way to Statesman or APEX. People were shaking in their shoes over the possibility that they'd need to run Doc Q and now so we don't upset the tiny portion of RED Side only players that would even care all we get is a constant repeat of Sister Psyche and Manticore along with the normal 45-50 and 50 + (Alpha slotted) Tfs. Either DO what they said they'd do and use them all or run one WST for the incarnates (all the TFs and SFs from 45-50 level) and a second with anything under that for the 2-49 levels.

What kind of bank operates out of a cave?

heheh Yeah I get a kick out of those missions myself. Here's another along those same lines.. On numerous occasions (RED SIDE MOSTLY) i have gotten missions to stop the Council and find myself headed into the door of a building in the heart of the city. Zone in and POOF I am in the sewers. Hmmm okay who was the Archetect on this project?

I would have said Escort Service but that would be open to misinterpretation, especially in Pocket D on Virtue...

Hmmm like the alternate titles and definately agree GOOD LORD NO .. we cant use Escort Service. I play on Virtue and can just imagine the RP that badge title woule inspire. lol

I can see your point Lothic but then a lot of the Defeat badges are a grind... I about lost my mind hunting down Marcone Bosses in Port Oakes. Spent a good hour or more in the Shadow Shard taking out Fake Nemesis.. and had the badge for Overseers long before I finished the Fakes. Rikti Monkeys can be a grind if you soloed a lot of the RWZ arcs.. and I cant even imagine the dedication it took if anyone had that badge before they dropped the total from 10,000 to 1000. Badgers will do whatever it takes to earn the badge. One of the reasons I stressed ANY hostage was to make it a little easier... The one side mission in a Safeguard where you stop the break in has three hostages you can rescue alone... So if you do 5 of those to earn the badge associated with it you just picked up 15 hostages! There are stop the bank robber missions on the Police Scanner that also have three bank tellers to save. And I'd also include missions like the one's in Faultline where you "rescue" Fushionette and Arbiter Sands, or the ones in the RWZ where you rescue Fushionette and Faultline. Sure once you rescue them they may actually stick around and help you fight but YOU still rescued them .. in my mind that counts as a hostage situation.

EXACTLY Call it whatever you like 50 (+1). 50+1 or just 51.. after I slotted my first tier 3 and got my LEVEL SHIFT suddenly level 50 minons conned BLUE to me and I even found Elite Bosses on the ITF that were no longer PURPLE they were YELLOW.. I personally like to type in the 50 (+1) when I am advertising my services to any team but I see plenty of people that simply use 51 to save time. Everyone knows exactly what both methods mean.. "Hi I am looking for a team and my character has a teir 3 or 4 slotted in my Alpha. So basically I can kick the crap out of just about anything"

RELAX Choas there are plenty of other things to /rant about. This seems like a pretty small issue compared to other things happening in game.
  6. 2 HOURS? Holy crap what did they do search every wall and every hill for more to defeat? I have done KILL ALL ITFs that took half that amount of time. We'd clear mission one and two, Fight our way up through Lag Valley in mission three but skipped the High walls and even a lot of the 5th Column toward the end (around the Phallanx Control Device). By Mission four we just turned left (or right) and fought our way to Romulus. We cleared around the plaza and then cleared it before attacking and defeating him. NOT technically a "KILL ALL" but we killed a lot more than some of the SPEED RUNS you see and everyone left with a nice pile of shards along with salvage, recipes and INF.

Heck I did a Kill all with an All Veat team and we finished in 50 minutes... and we darn near did KILL ALL. THAT had to be one VERY bad experience for you.
  7. Tonight I needed a break from the usual mix of WST and other 45-50 level Tf for my 50 + levels so I broke out my 29 level KM/REG Scrapper and had some fun getting her to 30.

At some point between doing my 5 Vigilante Missions and a number of Police Scanner missions it occurred to me that Heroes spend an awful lot of time rescuing hostages. This thought occurred when my three selections from the scanner ALL involved rescuing someone from some Villain faction LOL

Anyway it turned on that little lightbulb over my head that my SG mates have come to dread.. "OH GOD NO SHE HAS ANOTHER IDEA! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!!" Why don't they come up with a badge for rescuing say 100 hostages? Or even 200? Heck we see enough of them in missions to make either work and as long as it was expanded to include ANY mission it shouldn't take forever. It would be a reward to the countless heroes that have endured the COUNTLESS victims that have no clue how to navigate a stairway and are confused by the complicated engineering involved in a hallway that turns right (or left). A similar badge could be awarded to Villains that kidnap the same amount of victims in any mission.

The Hero badge could be called Rescue 911 ... When a citizen is in trouble they know who to call. Your work in freeing hostages has earned you respect throughout Paragon City.

The Villian badge could be called The Specialist ... When they need someone snatched and they want it done right they always call you. You've become notorious for your ability to kidnap anyone from anywhere! Keep up the bad work!

Feedback? Don't be shy and I am NOT attached to those badge titles in any way so if someone has a better one for it.. Let's hear it
  8. My favorite has always been the "Upside down Pyramid effect". Enter a mission and the first floor is tiny with just a single hallway, a few small rooms and the elevator going up. Depending on the map and number of floor suddenly as you go higher there are multiple hallways, tons of rooms and even floors with multiple level. So from the outside this facility looks like this? \___/ LOL

I have also always gotten a SORT of chuckle out of Council/5th Colum bases. They twist, turn and at times even lead you in circles. I understand the mentality.. make it mazelike to challenge the player but I even commented once on a Citadel TF.. "I wonder how many new Council recruits get lost trying to locate the men's room and die of starvation." It got a LOL and a series of similar comments ensued as we continued through the countless underground mazes throughout the TF.

Yep I have always found this to be true. We have the friendliest and most helpful community it MMORPG. I have never really tried "WOW" but have heard horror stories about being foolish enough to ASK a question in broadcast. You spend 30 minutes being told exactly how stupid you are and call things that make Noob seem like a compliment. Here not only will someone answer your question but usually it more like 2, 3 or more and if anyone left out one tidbit of info .. someone else added it.
  10. I have Master of now on several characters and used the click all but one glowie method each time. yes you need to run the TF twice in order to get the MO badge that way but ... If your after the Master Of badge I am assuming you are a badger??? Well this week what is the WST? Tin Mage and unless you already have them aren't there also badges available for completing one, ten and 50 addition WST Task Forces after getting your Notice of the week? So who cares if you have to do it twice? More INF, SHARDS, Recipes, salvage etc to be earned along with the badges you want!

Oh by the way we tried this earlier tonight with a team I was on and hit a bug. We took out all three ambushes with no problem and them assembled in striking distance of the spawn point and began rezzing pets and buffing up. Team leader clicked 9 of ten glowies and then made sure we were all ready.. clicked the 10th and NO spawn??? Not sure how many seconds passed but it was long enough that we were beginning to wonder what went wrong and how can we fix it when BOOM the spawn suddenly erupted into the building sending us all flying and Oh yeah killing three of us in the process not to mention countless summoned pets. Needless to say we did not defeat Director 11 in 30 seconds.. we did pound his sorry butt into the floor but lost the Dodger attempt. Maybe that other method where one member ATTs everyone would work better.. An exploding spawn cant kill anything if there is nothing in the building to kill!
  11. I have to side with Rangle on this issue. this has been suggested before and one at least one occasion the individual felt that every single 50 level in game had the right to be immortalized in marble somewhere in Paragon. Heck I know for a fact I am no where near the top in number of 50s earned but I have close to 30 now. So as we attempted to point out to that guy imagine 10,000 players with 30-40 level Fifty characters.. Yeah the devs want to spend ages figuring out where to place as many as half a million statues. LOL

As for your poll.. NO I wouldn't buy a statue for any amount. And making it available for purchase with INF instead of real cash wouldn't make a differnece either. Sure I have billions scattered out between characters but I can think of a lot better uses for it than putting up a statue.

Here's another point to consider.. How many statues do you see of Statesman? Manticore? Back Alley Brawler? Would the answer to that be none? The statues we see scattered around the city zones are of heroes that have either retired or are dead. So were you, and by you I don't mean the OP but just anyone playing the game in general, planning to never play this character again? Okay well you let us put a freeze on it so you can never actually use it again but it will still take up a slot in your server and then pay us $40 USD and we'll find a nice spot to erect your statue. lol ..

Now lets look at another part of your survey.. It isn't possible, or okay possible bu not probable, to put a statue in any zone on just one server. Server maintenance is probably involved enough but one area the Devs can pretty much take for granted in .. Building are buildings, roads are roads, rivers are rivers, trees are trees and statues .. are STATUES. they are the same on every server and can be quickly looked at for flaws and then they move on. No we start adding individual statues of players heroes on specific servers in specific zones and suddenly ever server is a completely different set of maps they need to review for potential errors. I don't claim to know a thing about how the game is programed but that just seems to me like it turns every single server into a unique game that the devs need to maintain.. sure they do a lot of that where it involves the actual players on each server but now they'd need to expand to include LANDSCAPE differences as well?

You either EARN the MO or you fail.... my 2 cents

I realize there are a lot of GOOD people out there leading Mo Runs and I admire there determination but personally the Master Of Requirements just sort of turn me off. 1) no temp powers.. I worked to get those one way or the other.. Vet Powers I earned by continuing to PAY for my account here, Day Jobs I earned by faithfully returning my character to the "Job" site every time i used them and the others? .. I ran missions and defeated countless enemies to earn the right to have them so someone suddenly yanking them away from me is a bit insulting. And 90% of the time I don't use them anyway LOL 2) no deaths.. I've been on teams that did a TF and when it was over we realized that not a single player had dropped and it felt GREAT. Joining a team where the overall feeling is "If I mess up and die we blow this thing!" isn't great .. its stressful and I think the vast majority of the players here come to COX to release Stress and relax not ADD to it. Any time I have been on a MO run I have found myself getting away from my normal play style.. being much more conservative because I personally didnt want to be the one that blew it! I have some horror stories of runs I've been on but I wont list them here. I did have one nice MO run recently when Kahn was the WST. My tank joined a team and we decided to try for a Master of badge.. now the leader was very cool, and this was a PUG, and said if we failed we failed no big deal.. Well I'd already done a couple runs with my Tank and knew I could pound on Reichmann all day without him hurting me so I played my normal style and things went great. We got to the final mission and had just taken out the last of Reichmann's AVs ( I think it was Countess Crey) when one of the Squishier team members got a little too close as Reichmann delivered one of those Lightning bolt attacks of his and POOF the MO was gone.. about one minute later so was Reichmann and no one cared one way or the other.

The main thing here is just what justifies anything being TOP FIVE? the OP wants to use time and glorify Speed Runs.. Well I joined an ALL VEAT ITF a while back and we did a kill all. With 8 VEATS stacking defenses and improving accuracy nothing could touch us and everything dropped that got in our path. About the only thing we didn't do was climb the stone walls in mission three and take out the Cimeroran Traitors up there. When Romulus fell we had completes the TF in 50 minutes.. No deaths and we stuck around afterwards to clear towers, walls etc.. I left with 11 shards, my Salvage, Recipes, and enhancement trays full (including a purple recipe I got 400 million out of at Wentworth). Now I have heard of SPEED RUNS finishing in 15, 16 ?? whatever minutes. YEAH your fast.. but how much richer are you? Did you get X number of Purple drops? How many shards did everyone get (since this has become a pretty big issue lately)? See my point? I am not saying there is anything wrong with Speed Runs or MO Runs but aside from a FEW people's opinion that THAT is some sort of standard all TFs should be judged by how is getting done fast any better than getting done SLOW but finishing with a TON more stuff?

No matter what sort of standard that is applied it will upset SOMEONE so lets just NOT have a TOP FIVE list and keep everyone from finding another reason to *****, gripe and moan at one another here and in game.
  13. Well a lot of them have already been listed but lets add some more..

Stores in Kings Row .. yes children long ago before Raptor Packs ( Yeah there actually was a time before Raptor Packs LOL) if you went to KR to run missions and leveled .. You could level with Blue Steel but then got to RUN back to Atlas Park or Galaxy because not a single store was loctaed in the zone. and believe it or not when the change was announced there were players that lobbied against it.

Inherent Fitness.. okay to be honest MOST here on the forums could have cared less about getting the rest of the power pool as inherent powers but for years people cried, moaned, screamed and begged to have Stamina available as an inherent. Probably one of the longer running requests too .. I can recall people asking for it years ago.

The l.ist of costume items is probably too long to even try adding here but off the top of my head .. WINGS, Trenchcoats, and of course COLORIZED POWERS!

And probably the biggest and it has been mentioned several time already but Going Rogue. I can recall seeing posts clear back when I first started here asking to be able to be an Anti-Hero type, a Rogue, a Vigilante.. the names varied but the request was the same We wanted to be able to create characters that weren't quite all bad or all good. What we got surpassed almost everyone's expectations I think. Players move freely back and forth between not two but three different COX universes and battle/badge in them all

I have said it many time I think one of the things that impressed me most about this game, this company, was the fact that they actually listen to their customers and when possible give them exactly what they want or even BETTER.
  14. I think its the journey. I readily admit I am thrilled that the journey now includes things my 50 levels can do besides pay the rent on the SG base and hand out cash to my lower levels so they can have the best enhancements available. I'm sure many look at the new incarnate system as a grind.. doing TF after TF to get shards and components and once 20 hits gathering or creating threads to build new powers but to me .. [first] I love task forces anyway so doing a bunch of them is not a grind .. its teaming with 7 other people and doing outstanding things I'd never dream of doing solo. Each team is a little different in make up and while many use the same strategies some do have different tactics so its fun just comparing to see which feels like the best.

I have leveled different characters t0 50 and now have at least one of every AT except Peacebringers and Widows (and the Widow is closing in at 45). My badger has crossed from Villain to Rogue to Hero to Vigilante and back to Villain.. and is currently on her second trip around at Vigilante. During that journey she has participated in every single Task Force/Strike Force currently available, every Trial, she has participated in Hamidon raids on both Blue and Red side (and discovered that the strategy is slightly different depending on which side you are on), she has attacked the Rikti Mothership in the RWZ and has participated in every single type of ZONEevent there is.. including the ones in Praetoria. She has memorized every IO recipe and has even soled and destroyed Pillboxes in Recluse's Victory. Sounds like she has reached her destination doesn't it? Hardly! She is the Matriarch of my COH clan of characters.. She runs TFS and then builds IOs which are stored in the base for the others to use. She is sitting with 1.9 Billion in INF so every time she gets a Good recipe she emails cash to the others.. In the past two weeks thanks to some very nice Purple Drops that has amounted to redistributing more than another Billion to other toons. YEAH she seems to be a Purple Rec magnet LOL

I am looking forward to the new trials that issue 20 offers and to gradually building the new powers that will become available and growing even stronger. Since we currently have only one of ten promised slots open and supposedly only 3 (??) more opening up with Issue 20 it certainly doesn't shound like the journey is over by any means. I think we can look forward to several new TFs/Trials with issue 21 along with new powers slots to work towards and so on. So I hardly see the journey as over .. it now appears that level 50 was just the begining of a new journey to become an Incarnate.. to become as powerful as Statesman or Recluse perhaps even more so.. Oh and I may not have mentioned this but Tessa is NOT alone on the journey .. I have 11 incarnates and the 8th just slotted her tier 4 tonight after completing a Lady Grey TF. I will be very busy for quite some time.
  15. Wicked_Wendy

    Your Top 5

    1. Revamp most blue side TFs.. Synapse, Sister Psyche, Citadel, Numina, Doc Q, and Justine Augustine to start. Add a 30-35 level SF Red side

    2. Turn the Shadow Shard into a Co Op zone like the RWZ (prompting people to actually go there and play) This of course would also add 4 more TFs that Red side has access too [see suggestion 1 which MUST be accomplished first so no villain ever has to suffer through the current Doc Q)

    3. Add items to SG bases.. A tailor shop, an Ebay version of Wentworths/black market, increased storage capacity and added storage for RECIPES. I'd list the improvements to floors, wall and furniture/equipment options here but this post would go on forever. Add NPC that can make the base look "lived in" Such as Secretaries/security for the entrance, Doctors/Nurses for Med bays, Technicians in jump suits for energy rooms, computer geeks for control centers.. in short an actual staff that maintains the base while we are all out fighting crime. Or do we really think Wicked Wendy returns from a day of robbing, stealing and plundering and then grabs a brush and heads into the bathroom to clean the toliet? LOL

    4. More slots per server... We went to 36 a LONG time ago and how many new powers have been introduced since then? Many of us now maintain at least two accounts just so we can play on the server we like and stay with the SG we created. I'd say it was definately time for at least 12 more slots per server.

    5. More costume options definately. I won't go into detail but to name a few.. Seperate options for hair and hats ( I absolutely hate that if I want my long haired heroine to have a look involving a hat she gets three choices.. 1) pony tail 2) short or tucked in hair and 3) totally bald (from the witches hat availabe by completing KHTF. Women with ever hair style imaginable wear hats from time to time so seperate the hat from hair and be done with it. Heaven knows a ton of players want things like the PPD hard suit outfit and I know a lot would love access to the Carnie looks for females.

    6. Update or eliminate some zones so people actually WANT to go there. Sorry but unless a TF drags me there about the only time I am in Boomtown is to grab the Exploration badges (hey 5 free reward merits are 5 free reward merits) and maybe the history ones if I am on a toon I like to badge with. Zones like Boom, CF, DA, and even Perez and the Hollows have become ghost towns these days.. Get some contacts in there and revamp to make them more interesting or lose them completely and concentrate on zones that people actually enjoy being in. By the way Boomtown is totally depressing.. I know its supposed to look like a war zone but it's a pile of smoking rubble? I actually LIKE going to Perez Park its a very pretty zone in spite of the gangs that hang out there,

    7. Create the much longed for Moon Base and Underwater zones and make both Coop. To add some diversity make it possible for some contacts to give missions that hero/villains/et all can join and others that are hero or villain specific. This would also allow for several new TF/SFs that would add more diversity to the game.

8, End world hunger, stop all wars, get everyone a good job and a higher education and boldly go where no one has gone before! LOL Okay so I got carried away with all the power!

No... I have nothing personally against Speed Runners but a top ten list dedicated to "See how fast we managed to run that! Yeah we had 100 deaths. Yeah the 40 level on the team barely wnet up two bars. What's you point?" And while I have done a few MO runs here again I have seen way too many where the strategy is .. "You 6 guys stay here and DON"T do anything. When we finish up we will teleport you to the end so you can help with the AV." Yeah both of those are so much fun for the majority of the players on any team LETS GLORIFY THAT!

    2. Sound. Voices.
"That other game" has voices for practically everything - npcs, mobs, dungeon bosses, etc. Whereas, in CoH, all we have is text. I'd love to hear Nemesis' aristocratic sneering voice, Dr. Aeon's mad scientist cackle, Vanessa Devore's sultry evil voice, etc. How about adding an optional downloadable "sound pack" that would at least add these things to TFs. At a minimum, the cut scenes could have voices. I realize that adding voices for regular mobs outside of TFs would make the client too fat , but for just TFs - it shouldnt be too bad.
Sorry unsigned here too... the game lags bad enough at times without adding a ton of voices and as DarkGob mentioned what quality actors will be lured to do these voice overs?

    Quote:
    3. Ability to skip cutscenes in TFs. I've seen the cutscenes in ITF and STF a million times. Be nice to have the option to bypass it by pressing ESC.
Again as previously mentioned I have to say no. YEAH I feel your pain here myself. After 13 Kahn TFs in a couple days I was ready to go to Grandville and personally pound the crap out of him but just because we have seen it a hundred times doesn't mean it's not the first time for someone else. Unless they can find a way to do it on an individual basis I can't agree to that.. and even if they could it brings up another issue. Everything sort of freezes while a cut scene plays so that when you return to the game that 5th column warwolf that was about to attack you is still a foot or two away. If some players on the team are not watching the cut scene and still fighting does the game freeze for those that do watch? or do they return from viewing and find themselves dead? Too many variable .. leave it alone

Was on one the other day. Right up front, before actually starting, the Leader asked if we wanted speed run or shards. Most of us said we didn't care, two people wanted shards, Leader suggested a 'kill most' with a decided emphasis on 'Not a Speed Run' and then waited to see if anyone wanted to leave. I will add, this was like Wednesday, there were at least two other ITFs gearing up at the same time and lots of folks around so anyone who wanted to leave was not going to have a long wait for a new team.

So, we get going and this one scrapper goes off on a speed/stealth run to hit the mission objectives in the tunnels. Our Leader called him on it several times, without ever getting an answer. After freeing all the oracle ladies, Scrapper goes outside and waits. Eventually he quits when no one rushes out to join him. I'm confuzzled as to why he stayed at all when there was a very clear discussion about not speed running it before we started. My only question here was, did they mean to leave? I have accidentally hit 'exit' at the end of a mission when I had mean to stay and finish clearing the map. It's sort of a Pavlovian reflex. That 'Mission Complete Bugle' sounds off and I hit exit. And once one person leaves, others may have followed out of the same sort of reflex. Or did the others say they didn't want to stick around any longer?

Not sure if its the TF itself or just some of the players it attracts but i know what you mean. I did one this week and the brute and one scrapper started that in mission one. unfortunately the leader never called them on it and we just kept plugging away. Mission two was even WORSE.. those two ran ahead destroying shards and at one point about 4 of us stood in the same spot for quite a while dealing with one ambush after another .. THE BIG BAD BRUTE.. runs in and smacks around an inanimate object and lets a Crab Spider, A scrapper and two trollers deal with multiple Elite Bosses! By this time I am ready to explode but its not MY team and our fear FUL (?) leader isn't objecting. Mission three wasn't quite as bad.. With all those Elite bosses surrounding each general our two SPEED RACERS have to slow down and wait for the team or spend a good deal of time face down waiting on us .. Until the last general falls anyway. Then they race to the Phallanx Generator and ATT the entire teams there. Now this was a pretty solid team but still I REALLY don't enjoy the suprise of arriving at that generator to discover Requiem and Romulus are also there along with a few dozen of their closest friends. Squishies DIE just trying to take out the generator as the Robots spring to life without adding 2 AVS and a pile of bosses, lieutenants and minons to the mix. SOME HOW we get through that, with several face plants, and move on to the final mission.

Where NATURALLY our two bad boys head straight to Romulus and ATT the team. Somehow the entire TF became THEIRS and the leader, who was I believe around level 42 and looking for XP, just let them have their way. I one starred both of those APES and will never play on a team with either ever again.

I had another where a Scrapper kept running off doing his own thing and the team got to the point where they wer actually taunting him in team chat to try to get him to T E A M! Final mission WE decided to go left and fight our way to Rommi and then anyone that wanted could stay for the towers.. SCRAPPY announces "go ahead and fight to him. I'll take out the towers while you do" And he did just that. Even while we cleared the area around Rommi's plaza of 5th Column and then took out the troops in front of the steps .. this guy was in the mountains battling solo. I was amazed the idiot didn't swoop down to rush Romulus and spawn the ambushes.. we actually pulled to the grass to avoid those since a few of the players were having lag issues.

It all makes me wonder if any of these jerks has the slightest idea what it means to be a part of a team. A team is supposed to work TOGETHER and assist one another .. NOT run off and do whatever you dang well please and leave your team mates to endure the aftermath. I have no qualm with people that enjoy Speed Runs per say but the mentality is by no means team oriented. Tanks/Brutes/Scrappers/etc rush ahead killing everything they HAVE to kill while if the squishies are smart they huddle against the entrance door in fear and wait for it to be over. I have TRIED to follow these idiots before and wound up face down far too many times to ever want to be on one again. As long as a team leader makes it clear its a speed run I have no problem and simply look elsewhere but they don't always bother with that little fact.. I actually quit a team earlier this week in the middle of mission two. I was face down after trying to deal with an ambush solo while the Tank raced ahead to the next Crytal shard. I hit the hospital and responded to some BS comment he made to the team with "yeah well you can do all that without me because i am tired of this BS and not putting up with it anymore!" I found another team in like 5 minutes and we did a kill most that was done in 50 minutes.. I left with 7 more shards, an ancient nictus fragment and a purple recipe that sold for 200 million. I'm sure they finished in much less time but with a LOT less shards and I wonder how many purple recipes those boys get a month. My badger has had three this week and has now given away, to my other alts, more than 1.4 billion in INF becasue she is carrying around 1.9 billion.. oh and she has a 50 level IO in every slot and has the portable IO Craftbench from the accolade ( Yes she has EVERY generic recipe memorized). Give me a nice slow Kill all any time
  18. I'm usually very careful about that since I was fortunate enough to see someone in globals complaining about turning into a Monkey during a TF just as the were attacking the AV in the final mission. I will hit the mutation when I first enter a mission [usually there is nothing at the entrance to attack you] and then move on.. That doesn't mean it has never become a source of amusement for my team mates. On an ITF a while back I entered with my 50 (+1) MM and summonmed pets, activated my vet reward buff pet and then hit secondary mutation. Then while I hoped around for a minute in "monkey" mode the entire team had a good laugh waiting of the DEBUFFER to reappear so we could get started. hehehe Fortunately I have never had a situation where I "monkified" during combat.

I do often wonder just how sick the DEV was that designed this little feature... have you ever noticed, or maybe i am just a bit paranoid about the power, that when you are soling or when nothing important is going on it never happens? Team up and get into a situation where the team REALLY needs you NOW and "POOF" you are looking for a banana! It has often left me wondering.. "And I PAID them real money for this to happen?" lol

    Move on.

Do that and then laugh at him when he can't find "support" players for his TF. Awww gee my Demons make noise? They also kick serious butt and then throw in my DM which debuffs like crazy and YOU don't want to team with me? Fine.

I rank that right up there with an older post I saw here a while back where some one felt it was rude that MMs didn't dismiss their minons while buying or selling at WW/Black Market. My first thought was "So are you one of the idiots that leaves on every toggle you own while your there and adds to the HUGE amount of lag in places like Talos?"

I play Demons and about the only complaint I have is the dang things tend to try and crawl up my butt. I have to play tag with them at time to get in doors. Hey if I can live with the grunts, growls and wails constantly I think anyone I may team with for an HOUR?? Or TWO can survive the noise. If not go ahead and quit and find another TF or team. Besides mine are so cute and cuddly who could anyone possible hate them. hehe

Only problem is where do we move the Family and all those casinos? That has a certain Las Vegas, back in the day when the mob ran things, feel to it and I enjoy it too. Hey how about we just keep St M as is and add a NEW Red Side zone called Carnie Island and do what you suggested there? Give the place a feel and look like "Escape from New York" where the crazies ran the whole city.. with Carnies and Freakshow running around settikng things on fire "just for fun!"

They could even add a few new contacts to include an Arachnos Arbiter in charge of a small containment force that works undercover to try and control things on the island and keep the crazies from getting away and disrupting any of the other Rogue Isles city zones. He would give you missions inside the zone and always end his briefing with "Now if anything goes wrong in there remember.... You are totally on your own and we are NOT coming in there to help. I've lost too many men trying that."

Have a nice day and don't get too close to the crazy people LOL
  21. You asked and from what I read i think you got a pretty good idea of why a lot of people don;t bother....

    1. A respec at level 24 when you can first earn one is not a huge deal because you really don't have that many powers yet and those you do have aren't heavily enhanced BUT at 50 level you have ever power you are/were ever going to get and in many cases as spent considerable amounts of Inf. IOing them and maybe even putting purples in slots.. Now you are supposed to tear all that apart and start over.. Some folks just don't want the hastle since between their IOs and their incarnates they are pretty dang nasty as is so why mess with things?

    2. Okay unlike these mythical players you have seen I have done respecs on all 11 of the characters I am currently running incarnate stuff on. It wasn't a lot of fun but since I also hot the 5 year mark which meant i could aslo save a slot by NOT needing a 2nd pick to get the travel power i wanted adding 4 new powers made it worth the effort. Now I was determined not to screw up my damage potential, ect on any character so I really had to work to figure powers that didn't need a bunch of enhancemenets.. I came up with a) Hasten (not a huge game changer but when its available I can click it am all my powers recharge faster). b) Recall Friend (doesn't really help or hurt but comes in handy occasionally in getting team mates some place faster) then I got a little more situational on some I went with c) Grant Invisibility and d) Invisible.. having access to Superior Invisibility and Stalkers Hide i was not all that inpressed with these but neither required more than one slot. Now on one character I wanted a bit more defense so I hit the leaping pool and took Combat Jumping.. this did help out a good bit. But get real here my friend.. On Apex I hardly see where recall friend or even hasten will make a huge difference and Grant Inv and INV make none at all. Okay Combat Jumping helps a bit but if CJ is the difference between my team succeeeding or failing on an Apex its one seriously wacked out team.

and then 3. I agree with DarkGob.. That person or persons you have seen that didn't bother with a respec pay their $15 a month just like you do and as long as they are happy with their build and their build isn't so dorked up that teaming with them is a strain for all the other team mates then .. It is really none of your business.

    I Blame JD

I blame Cien for consistantly starting TFs like 15 minutes AFTER I have already agreed to join someone else's.. Forcing me to get tons of shards and multiple purple drops. Okay so Multiple equates to 3 this week on 10 characters that have done 11 ITFs since Tuesday and one of those was a less than popular one that sold for a meger 20 Million. LOL And now.. I am off to bed so I WIN!

    I Blame JD

Wait! Who is JD again? lol

I blame my friend DP for getting me hooked on the COP every weekend. We are down to like 16 or 17 minute runs. Takes longer to organize and brief the teams that the trial!

I blame Zombie et all for turning me into a Beta Test junkie. Okay I am not as bad as some but I do have my own SG there now.. Hey a girl has to have someplace to go and fix her makeup between destroying stuff and criticizing every little thing I find wrong!

I blame my Altitis on Memphis Bill ... Hey if he can have one of ever different AT and all of the different power sets why can't I?

EVERYTHING else is JD's fault. I of course am not to blame for anything since, as my Dad always told me, "I'm the Princess and I simply can't do anything wrong!" heheheh

    __________

How to Redo an Old Task Force

Rule #1: No Longer Than 90 Minutes

Rule #2: Go Easy On The Defeat-Alls

    Rule #3: Arch-Villains Aren't Climactic Anymore

Rule #4: Give The Player Some Kind Of Tangible Reward

Rule #5: For The Love Of All Things Good And Holy Stop Putting Missions In Thorn Isle

So follow these few simple rules and the older Task Forces will become awesome new Task Forces just like that!

    Love it Guy..

Now let's get into some specifics:

Synapse Rule # 1 and #2 Generally this thing takes close to 2 hours and the main reason is .. a defeat all to start things off, followed by a street hunt and then after a quick talk to mission.. three straight defeat alls, followed by a patrol (OH WE ALL JUST LOVE PATROLS) and then another defeat all. Simple fix... Convert mission #1 into finding and clicking a glowie that contains that electrical Anomoly which presently just happens to always ne in the possession of the last Clockwork in the building. Want to make it a bit more of a challenge then force the team to clear the room the glowie is in before getting mission complete. Then eliminate at least one, preferably two, of the Defeat all Clockwork in the Station missions. I'd say remove the patrol, simply because I generally view them as mindless time killers, but on occasion it does come in handy if team members want to train and enhance since it doesn't take 8 people to click a few patrol boxes. Then change the current Stop all robots in headquarters mission into a defeat Leader and crew mission. NOW let's seriously delete PATROL number two and simply have the location of Bertha's base be a clue we find when we defeat the Boss in the HQ mission. So to recap we switched 2 missions from defeat all to defeat the leader and crew. eliminated 2 (or at least one) defeat all and one patrol. Suddenly Synapse can be finished in 90 minutes or less and doesn't feel quite so much like we are NEVER going to see the end.

Citadle Rule #1 and # 2 Okay Citadel is a bit shorter and can usually be accomplished in about 90 minutes unless you just have one REALLY bad team but again its a serious of mindless defeat alls with a couple of Defeat the leaders tossed in. Missions one and two don't even require the team members, other than the leader to travel since they always always ALWAYS share the same door in Ind Port. Okay lets start with mission 1/2 Leave one a defeat all but switch the other to a defeat the base leader and minions to cut a little time and curb the boredom.. and for heavens sake MOVE the entrance to mission 2 to at least another spot in IP.. Geez I think we can find another door soemplace! After mission 2 leave everything else alone through the street hunt.. One suggestion>>> Another problem people have with Citadel is every single mission is in those twisting turning cave bases.. move a couple to the sewers or a warehouse just to give us something else to look at and a few breaks from navigating through rock wall. Now lets consider the defeat 40 Council .. and then lets toss it out completely. Thanks to the 5th Column resurfacing finding 40 council members anywhere is like pulling teeth and beside I HATE street hunts. And that brings us to the three straight defeat all missions .. every one one of these requires the team to also click 3 glowies so switch them all to clicking the glowies and to keep it interesting make two of them situations where the entire room the glowies are in must be cleared as well (so it doesn't become just a race to see how fast we can click 9 glowies in three different missions). To make this work better move a couple of these out of the cave bases and into warehouses.. that way it could even be possible that 2 or even all three glowies are located in the same large room.

Manticore Rule # 3 Manticore while not THE most popular TF is actually pretty good as far as rule 1 and 2 go. Aside from a couple street hunts most missions are defeat the base leader or click the glowie to complete. If anything could make it better lose the hunt missions... In case you haven't figured it out yet every team looks for the lowest level Crey can can find and pounds them fast to move on not caring a bit if they earn a scrap of XP or INF. What really needs to be worked on here in HOPKINS Sorry but just like Guy says the man simply does not present much of a challenge these days. The TF tops out at 35 so when a group of 50 join one they keep all their powers up to level 40 (or one level away from epics). We are all IOed out these days and Hopkins and his pathetci minons drop in a heartbeat. Here's an idea.. Add in Countess Crey herself and possible even a third brand new Crey AV to join Hopkins in that warehouse for a meeting to finalize their evil plans. Now that would make for an interesting ending.

Numina Rule # 6 Please God stop boring me to death with midless street hunts against villains so low I can take out 10 with one AoE attack. This weels WST is a monumement to seeing if we can bore the team to death. Fifteen straight street hunts and all but a few against low level villains that offer up no xp, no INF, no salvage and no recipes. Rule one is almost never an issue .. I have done 9 or 10 this week and with stealth most were complete in under an hour.. without in about 1 hour and 20 minutes. But this TF has several flaws now .. 1) Faultline has been revamped and no longer has huge mobs of Vahzilok roaming the streets.. while it isn't impossible finding and defeating 20 can be one of the longer tasks and gets even more interesting when its the WST and 4 or 5 teams are trying to defeat the same small groups located there 2) Once again the 5th Column have bullied the Council into hiding and to make matters worse when we do find Council the 5th column immediately attack them and we have to fight to get credit for kills. 3) Zone event which didnt exist when whoever dreamed up this nightmare. The very first Numina I did this week was stopped twice... once by a banner event in Faultline and then again by a Rikti invasion in Talos. That nightmare ended at just over 2 hours. i don't even know where to start with suggestions here... My own opinion would be get rid of all 16 hunts and actually add a few more door missions that involve the actual spotlighted villain group .. the Devouring Earth. Presently we start off a battle Freakshow, the Crey, then Nemesis, followed by COT before the long list of street hunts begin. Only the final two missions of the entire task force even involve DE and to make matters worse.. we don't even fight an AV we battle Jurrasik and a scaled down "MONSTER" not GM version of him that doesn't even award the badge we can get by facing him in CF. Want to spice thing up a bit.. Make him a GM and award an extra 2 merits and the defeat badge for taking him out in the cave. with very few exceptions an 8 man team can tackle Jurrasik in CF and this might makes team leaders think a bit more when team building considering what they face in the final. IF you won't eliminate the hunts at least do this.. in another similar post someone suggested eliminating the zone specific defeats. Okay defeat 10 Clockwork... I am already in Perez park which has Clockwork everywhere why do I need to go to Atlas Park for them? This would also deal nicely with the issue of Zone events.. okay the Rikti are invading Kings Row at the moment I am headed to Perez Park to defeat 10 Skulls. It will also make finding and defeating 20 Council a lot easier.. I can head to Striga where they have a huge base full of them and gee very few 5th column to steal my kills. Vahzilok of course can be found almost anywhere..Atlas, Galaxy, KR, Steel, and Perez Park so no more problem with not even to go around on WST weeks.

hehehe I'd go one but decided to limit it to the big six involved in the TF Commander accolade and beside you REALLY don't want me to start telling you how to FIX Doc Q. This doesn't involve switching missions at all. After doing it twice now in more than 5 years ( over 5 hours on the first and slightly more than 4 the last time with my badger) it involved one of those hospital tables with the tie down straps and making sure the good Doctor never has ANY offspring. Ahh back to actually playing the game.. Have fun I am SURE this will result in a series of posts about how my ideas would ruin things horrible .. Yeah we might actualy have FUN on a TF instead of fighting to stay awake and alert. ... "Did she just say that?" lol
