  1. This started last night and I like it. Pull the AVs to the helipad where the ADDs spawn. It allows everyone on all three teams to damage and get credit for ADD defeats and to work on taking down each AV with any AoE attacks. It also ensured that the few players with heals were able to hit more league members so fewer trips to the hospital.

We actually "FARMED" the AVs last night. Taking one to zero and then the other until we had just enough time left to take them both out together to complete the trial. This allowed us much more time to defeat ADDs gaining more IXP and Oh by the way using this game plan I managed 2 straight Very Rare component table, a rare component table and then a third Very rare. The funny part was we actually had players leave the league when they heard what we intended to do and one even said .. "I have all my slots open I am really only concerned with the reward table at the end"

    Quote:

Okay fine you go do a "NORMAL" BAF and spend half the night complaining about getting common or uncommon tables. I'll take your rares and very rares THANKS!

Oh one thing .. the towers don't seem to be an issue by the time you get to Siege but it's best to stay close to the building while waiting for Nightstar to arrive. They can't hit you if your close to that big roll up door. For some reason when you pull Seige they don't attack that area anymore.

OH did I also mention IF you are still working on opening a power this is a much quicker way to accomplish it. I am on my 4th character striving to gain all 4 new powers. The first three did nothing but the traditional BAFS and at best I averaged a little over 10% of the IXP needed per trial. Last night I did my first "FARM" run needing 27% to open Judgement. By the end Judgement was open and I had 13% of what I needed for Lore. Two farm runs later I was at 99% complete on Lore. Yeah I had to do ONE more BAF to get that last 1% LOL Do the math.. at 10% on a normal run it would probably have taken me 13 trials to accomplish what I did in 4 and for whatever reason, added defeat(?), I got 3 very rare components and rare instead of a bunch of commons and uncommons. Now to go finish off Lamdba and I will take my 50 (+3) back to work on her tier 4 powers

Opps figured I better add this.. I can't promise that if you do this you will see nothing but Rare and Very Rare components all night. I didn't ask anyone else what they got and it may have just FINALLY been my turn. What I do know is the other three characters I have run through the trials NEVER got a very rare drop and only a couple got rares.. I had to build most of the rares I had with uncommons and INF. Now the rumor is reward is based, sort of.. maybe(?), on performance???? Well on a normal BAF you'd defeat 4 AV and since you did it as fast as possible who knows how many fewer ADD bosses. On a Farm run we took down a single Av as fast as possibe and then started on the other.. By the end we may have taken out as many a 8 or 9 AV and spent the full 16-17 minutes defeating as many ADDs as possible. So I don't know .. Maybe a LOT more defeats/damage = better reward drops?
  2. My SG leader feels the same way and keeps telling me he is relying on me to explain it all to him. I think what is confusing some people is getting 4 new powers at once. Really when you think about it .. its not that different than what we had to learn when we got Alpha with the major difference being added levels of components to make rares or very rares instead of getting Notices of the Well and turning them into Favors of the Well.

    1) There are 5 common component and three will produce a Common Enhancers... this is exactly the same as what we do in Alpha

    2) There are 5 uncommon components and 1 of these along with 2 commons and of course a common enhancer slotted makes an Uncommon Enhancer ... again pretty much the same as we did to slot Alpha

The biggest difference is the new rare and very rare components which can be difficult to get to drop and can be costly to make. I really haven't had much trouble with the syytem at all .. Biggest concern has been at the end of a successful Trial having to go in and see what component I need/want to build which powers. LOL

Now hopefully we don't get another whole NEW sysytem when the next batch of powers arrive. /em rolls eyes
  3. heheh After reading this I HAD to check since my MM just opened Lore late last night.

    1) I was definately able to rename my new Seer pets.

    2) They do respond to MM commands and I was even able to use the icon buttons I utilize with my normal minons to give them directions.

    3) They did respond to most /petsay_all command except ... /petsay_all <em dance>. This may have simply been becasue they are Seers and hover above ground instead of walking on the ground. But they did talk, etc. Unfortunately to date I only have one MM with Pets so I can't say if its possible to get Warworks or Clockwork pets to dance.. THIS to me is not a big deal at all LOL

    4) Even clicking on an individual pet brings up the exact same menu as clicking on an MM minon. I was able to select GO TO and send 1 pet away and then call it back.

Now before EVERYONE gets excited by this news I logged on my Crab Spider and checked her Warworks. While those features work for an MM they don't for other ATS

    1) I was NOT able to rename

    2) They will respond to MM commands and when clicked on have the same MM menu but no way I know of to get icon buttons.

    3) When I attempted to use /Petsay_all command I got this message...

Pet command failed, only Masterminds can give pet commands.

    4) Clicking on an individual pet DOES brings up the exact same menu as clicking on an MM minon. I was able to select GO TO and send 1 pet away and then call it back. They can be put into Aggressive mode or told to Follow and attack your target.

They are still a welcome addition and have proven beneficial in numerous trials so BIG deal .. your not an MM and can't rename them George or take them to Pocket D and dance with them.. They only hang out for 5 minutes anyway. LOL
  4. I've had pretty good success pulling Nightstar with my blaster. The tank died and I volunteered so I got into range of my snipe and fired off one shot...Then ran like heck back to the far end of the tennis court and she followed. THANKFULLY when she arrived the teams jumped on her and she forgot how ticked off she was at me LOL

the other option is don't pull at all. We have been doing a lot of that lately with great success and of course even if you already have the badge it still awards an added Astral you can convert into threads. Okay if you are determined to hang on to them until Posi actually tells us what we can BUY with them fine.. I convert mine and it makes slotting go MUCH faster LOL

I had that happen to me once. It was in the RWZ and particularly laggy that day. The leader even announced he'd set the Q but I Never saw a prompt and then POOF the entire league except for me was just gone! I still join teams out of there on occassion but usually look for stuff in Cimerora or even Studio 55 where the lag is minimal. The RWZ is the prime spot to host these things with access to a store, inspirations, crafting tables and your base but during peak hours between multiple leagues forming, AE, LGTFs and even Mothership Raids (when they start just consider that particular zone full LOL) the lag can get awful and its time to look for alternative spots to form up.

Some one else asked about trying to rejoin the league by hitting LFG and re-entering the previous mission. I haven;t tried that but sort of doubt it would work. Players are using the league options to form Mothership raids, hamidon raid and even COP trials now so until the leader actually joins the Q and you get that invite do you really have a mission? Worth trying if it ever happens again but I have my doubts it would work.. AND I HOPE I AM WRONG
  6. /signed

I have the prestige and the space to set my base up to host a COP and would love to but its a small SG with 2 active members.... SO why bother?

I've enjoyed joining COP trials and think its a shame more people can't be exposed to it do to the limitations. On Virtue we have a couple of SGs now that try to host them on a regular basis but you can't expect those people to miss out on all the new content, and powers, just to give other players a chance to run the trial.

If I may I'd add another suggestion. As I said I enjoy the trial but you folks have this set up to award an imcarnate component but all the times I have done it I have never gotten a single shard. Not 100% certain but I am guessing this has something to do with the fact that none of the Rularuu we battle award INF, XP or drop salvage or recipes. Now the huge end bonus we get for a sucessful run more than compensates but I honestly think more people would be interested if the trial gave them a chance for rewards they can use to increase their incarnate powers. above the Penumbra of Rularuu it awards at the end. This would also make players feel better if they wind up on a failed attempt.

Now personally I have been on a total of 2 that didn't succeed and one was a direct result of the leaders being new to the trial and no one neiong sure WHAT to do. I have been on a lot more that were a success and finished in well under 30 minutes (more like 17 or 18). But the trial allows players as low as 10 level to join and at time it can take 30-40 minutes to recruit 3 full teams. So if a trial fails a player that may have a limited amount of time to play just spent 30 minutes standing around while the trial was formed and then an HOUR trying to complete it and the end result when it fails is ... absolutely nothing to show for their time and efforts.
  7. I was thinking about this earlier today after a BAF trial. It doesn't happen a lot but enough that it made me wonder.. Here is the situation.

A league forms up and after anywhere from 10 minutes to 20 or more there are 24 players ready to enter the Q and head inside. The Q menu pops up and you click yes and the countdown begins.

NOW I am not talking about the rule of one here LOL For some reason there always seems to be one guy that is AFK when you start. But every so often as the count down continues some one declines entering the Q and drops from the league. Chances are its just that forming the league took so long that now they don't have the time to commit or even that at the last second some friend came on and they left to join that buddies newly forming league.

Still you have to wonder is it possible someone out there, or more than just ONE someone, is actually joining leagues and waiting till they are in the Q to quit so they wind up one player short inside? Are there people with THAT much time on their hands? With nothing better to do than sit around for say 20 minutes just so they can quit your team as you enter the mission? And are they really that dumb that they think 23 people can't handle a BAF just as well as 24?

Now let me clarify that this thread is done very VERY VERY much tongue in cheek That means I am not REAL serious about this and am sort of joking in case you don't know what tongue in cheek means. Still I have seen stranger things in game. So I ask you is it possible we have one lone slightly stupid griever that actually thinks he has ruined our day by sitting around in the RWZ with us for 15 minutes and then quiting just before we head inside to watch Mother Mayhem's cut scene for the 90th time LOL

  8. Nothing spectacular to date but it was fun last week after I got all 4 open and had Destiny and Lore to teir 3 to run an IFT. My Crab Spider was pretty awesome to begin with but on mission one we spawned the Nictus ambush at the end and she just stood there firing away until there was nothing left standing but my team mates and I. Oh and mission 4 was interesting I normally have three different pets (a total of six) to begin with but now I have added two more (Warworks ACU and a MK v1 Vickie). There were a couple other 5 power incarnates on that team and I have never seen poor Romi go down three times so fast.

What I am waiting on now is another shot at Tin Mage and the Mo Run. All I need is the Dodger badge. 8 pets along with Shivan, Warwolves, and an Amy.. I don't have a nuke but I do have an entire 2nd team I can add to do damage. LOL

Apart from your initial whinge, no one in here has seriously said to get out (unless you count the few that don't know what a smiley means).
Yeah I read some of your posts which is why i decided to reply to YOU to begin with. You know if you didn't keep saying you play on Union I'd swear you WERE the guy that came into globals with that rediculous request/demand. And if he said it or not the intention was clear.. He didn't like anyone interferring with his role playing and wanted us all to stay out of "HIS" Pocket D. Since I pay my $15 per month just like everyone else.. its as much mine as his. So NO I don't have to stay away.

What's THAT got to do with absolutely anything whatsoever? I've never listed to that radio show, I know nobody who DOES listen to that radio show. Most folks I know tend to have their own music collection playing.

All that referred to is the mindless music the game actually plays in there. Everyone I know either has on some radion station or is playing their of tunes while they play.. no one listens to waht DJ Zero plays over and over and over.

    Quote:
Now you're just making random stuff up for some reason. Who said it's OK for one to do something, but not another? Nobody.
No I am not and IF you are on Union don't presume to know what happens anywhere on Virtue. I have attended a number of parties and events in Pocket D ON VIRTUE and have seen coountless Masterminds with every single one of their minons out dancing. Heck I Don't even know what server he was on but a while back there was a guy on the forum that was disappointed with his new Demon Summoner MM. His reason? The Demons didn't do all the really cool dance emote like some of the other MM minons. DUH there's a great way to rate the overall effectiveness of your powers!

    Quote:
So you understand that it can be really annoying, but it's OK as long as you're doing it "just before" you enter the mission? How do you define "just before"? Considering it can take half an hour to get a BAF team going (on Union), and that's half an hour of "just before" where people are spamming off powers and random buffs...
My ISSUE has never been about powers. Sure I have seen it plenty of times and not just in Pocket D.. 15 or 20 players in Wentworths in Talos with every single toggle running and it takes forever to make a transaction. And to answer YOUR question I know how to count. If I am on a BAF the team maximum is 24 so when we hit that magic number I rez my minons knowning within a few minutes we will be in the Q and then in the mission. My point/issue is rper have no more claim to Pocket D than anyone else that pays NC Soft to be here. The guy in globals was 100% wrong to even suggest that anyone should stay away simply because he didn't like it.

[QUOTE] Gamers have dozens of places they can gather for the forming of teams, even co-op places there are numerous options. Roleplayers have ONE co-op social area they can go to. ONE. We don't generally count Studio 55 as that's in Praetoria, and funny as it may seem, many of us actually consider going to enemy territory for a beer to be hugely OOC. /QUOTE]

Do you ever venure outside of Pocket D at all? Now maybe its a little less crowded on Union but anymore VIRTUE has a larger population than Freedom and believe me every one of those Coop sites you mention is being used. I swear I mentioned that in one of my posts and YOU accuse me of not reading well? There are on any given night 2, 3 or 4 RWZs, a couple Cimeroras, as I MENTIONED even a few Midnighter Clubs. The fact is POCKET D is one more Coop area we can go to and form teams. Don't like it? Like I said tough.. we cant force anyone to so anything here as long as it isnt a violation of the TOS and playing the GAME is not a TOS violation!

OH and your statement amuses me to no end.. So its okay for a hero to battle crime and fight evil all day and then hit Pocket D and spend the night drinking with a Soldier or Arachnos that just finished robbing the Pergrine Island Bank after destrying everything he or she could find in a 3-4 block area BUT heaven forbid we hit Studio 55.. the Praetorians hang out there????

    Quote:
Again, you're making random stuff up. Maybe you should work on your reading comprehension a bit, as you seem to think I've said stuff I haven't? I never (seriously) said to get out. I merely said that I don't consider it an unreasonable request to ask the dozens of people who have never given a toss about PD before and are now swarming the place, to give a little consideration to the people who spend a lot of time in there, and cut out the power spam.
See I don't like that.. Your making stuff up equates to YOU ARE A LIAR and 1) you don't know me so don't Assume you do and 2) I don't lie well not often and certainly not to make a point here. I occasionaly lie to proyecy peoples feelings etc... Again you, how by your admission are on Union are ASSUMING that things are exactly the same on Virtue WRONG! And if you read my posts you saw that I have and do attend things in Pocket D when I have friends there. Maybe not for hours at a time in the bar telling people about my exploits on Game Epsilom Five but I hang out with friends, listen to music and chat. I also hit every game event there is there (Winter and Spring) and guess what if the guy forming a League I want to join says.. "we are forming up in Pocket D" I am on my way because I want to play the game.

    Quote:
but sure. It's your buck, you can do what you like with it. Myself, I'll continue to consider the wishes of others and stop doing things that cause them problem when asked, even when its at the expense of my earning some iXP (which I have done).
and lastly.. did you happen to look at my signature? notice the TAXIBOT in there. She was my first 50 and I was standing around in the Hollows offering players free teleport to missions or to the Atlas gate long before Raptor Pack. She is an EMP and I used to trail along behind poor 5 and 6 levels healing and buffing them so they could get through Dave Wincott's rediculous defeat 10 outcast and the 10 trolls missions. I have gone out of my way to stop and teleport players to the Tailors in Steel Canyon when I was passing through on my way to a mission. And anyone that knows me knows if anyone asks a question about this game in broadcast I will always take the time to answer.. and if I don't know it I tell them to hang on while I look it up for them on the WIKI. Don't try to compare turning off your toggles to spending 5 hours in the Hollows helping players stay alive and level faster. Like I said YOU DON'T KNOW ME.. so don't assume you do

    Master of Lambda

Congratulations! I have Master of BAF on a few characters now but haven't even THOUGHT about trying the MO on Lambda yet. I figure when every gets to all tier 3 or 4s we stand a better chance of success. Seems like you'd need a pretty deveolped team too with lots of damage and debuffs. On one hand you have to overcome Maurader's Rage without the grenades and on the other .. the whole time more and more reinforcements are pouring in since you don't close any portals. IT TRULY IS AN ACHEIVEMENT you and you team can feel good about!

Chat Channel]Xxxxxxxxx: i know this may be a bit <@*&$@#!>, but again, would like to ask if for the future pocket D would not be used for Trials, place is already laggy enough without people spamming powers. Thank you
There is no mention of can you all please just turn off your powers while you are in the D. THANK YOU He ASKS that no one come and form a league in Pocket D period. He goes on to mention lag and people spamming powers but his original request is DON'T COME HERE!

The Devs cant create duplicate RWZs fast enough to keep up with the demand but a huge zone with almost everything available in the RWZ is supposed to be ignored so 20-30 people can stand around a bar and pretend to drink while they make up stories about their ficticious lives?

Now first of all I was under the impression Pocket D suppressed most powers anyway. Secondly I have friends that are CAPE RADIO DJS so I have been there when there is actual GOOD music to tune into while you socialize. And then there is third..

I am currently running my Mastermind through the trials and I always rez my minons before we head in so I am ready for action when we arrive. Not so much an issue on the BAF since you get stuck watching the Cut scene before getting to even enter the door to the facility but on a Lambda you arrive on the steet and within a few yards you are engaged in battle. Are you telling me I shouldn't rez my pets because it adds to the lag? Then explain why its okay for an MM to rez them and then type in /petsay_all <em dance>. I can't prepare for combat but an MM that just wants to hang out and party can invite all his minons to share a beer with him/her? I don't think so.

Yeah I know people have a way of going crazy with auras... It drives me nuts too even when that start casting them to TRY and help as you get ready to enter a mission. "Gee that was nice but we are still recruiting members. That buff you just hit me with will probably just be wearing off as we hit the first mobs inside! brilliant planning!" Now on the other hand hitting me with buffs after we are ready to go so I arrive in zone ready to fight makes perfect sense and if we "BUFF UP" and then teleport to the Lambda Sector two minutes later how is that hurting anyone? Your role play experience was ruined by a two minute spike in lag?

The same day this individual made his "request" there were a couple of people RPing in one of the RWZs. I noticed the comments as I was leaving to head to another RWZ because out league, once again, couldn't all get into the one we started forming in. Now I have no clue if these two people were just RPing while they waited for their league to start up or of they were just hnaging out in the Rwz Role Playing. the point is no one went to a global channel and said.. "It may be crappy to ask, but we are having huge issues here in the RWZ trying to form league. In the future can you role players please stay out. Your taking up spots we need to get out people in."

This thread may go on for days and no one is ever going to admit they are right or wrong but let me just sum it all up for you Floating.. Until YOU or the joker that posted that comment in globals start paying my subsciption fees every month you have no right to tell me where I can do anything in game. 24 players showing up in Pocket D to form a league and then poofing off to the BAF is in no way a violation of the TOS and despite what you think is in no way grieving. So if you think any of you comments here are going to stop people form going there.. You are going to be a very disappointed man!

Sam? Let me get this straight you are saying MY attitude is wrong? I'm not the one that went onto a global chat channel and insisted that potentially dozens, if not more, of players with just as much right to be in Pocket D as anyone else and basically demanded that we go away because we were disturbing him. And believe me mine was not the only negative comment this guy got and at least mine didn't have any profanity in it.

I have nothing against Role Play.. if I did the last place I'd have every character I own is on Virtue. COH is a MMO RPG game and I completely understand that RPG means ROLE PLAY GAME. But its also a GAME and for every one of those PRers in Pocket D there are probably 20 players out there right now looking for somewhere to put together a league so they can open up their new powers.

Now you talk about the community being unfriendly? I haven't seen it. At times there have been as many as 4 or 5 RWZ and it never seems to fail that a league will get almost everyone in zone and the message comes across .. "I can't get in the zone is full!" I have seen entire leagues move from zone to zone to zone trying to find somplace where all 24 of the members can be in one spot so they can be assigned to teams. I have seen people ask politely "We have 1 member that can't enter the zone so we can start our BAF trial. Can someone please leave for a few moment? As soon as we organize we will be gone." And there has almost always been someone willing to pop out for a minute or two. That sounds pretty friendly and cooperative to me.

Every zone I mentioned in my first post is being used and used constantly right now for trials. I have seen 2 or 3 Midnighter Clubs, two Cimeroras, as I mentioned earlier as many as 4-5 RWZs, I have seen posts and joined leagues forming in Studio 55 (YES we are using Praeteoria) and there was even a league over the weekend that a buddy of mine was on that started in the Arena in Galaxy City (must have found 24 Heroes, Vigilantes and Rogues since no villain could possibly get there).

The fact of the matter is the most I have seen to date when a league formed there is two Pocket Ds.. so the majority of the players are going other places to form up. What ticked me off and everyone on Virtue TF 2010 that day was one guy in Pocket D that apparently could care less about new content, new powers, and new ways to play the game had the nerve to come on and tell US to stay out of HIS zone. He got a lot of negative feed back over it from everyone including me. But there are still more leagues forming in other zones than in his precious RP haven. IF this community was truly unfriendly and down right nasty.. every single leader forming a league that day would have purposely headed to Pocket D JUST to make that guys day worse. I spent the next two hours running BAFs in Cimerora and between runs saw leagues starting up in the RWZ, Midnighter Club etc, ect. No one went out of there way to RUIN anything for anyone. IF anyone had a bad attitude it was that guy who seems to think nothing and no one is more important than he is and we should all go away and leave him and his friends alone.

Someone else mentioned it in an earler post.. In December and again in February when the events are running I have seen as many as 4 or 5 Pocket Ds and half of them full. Where was this guy then? Had to be a LOT more lag in December than there is now. Pocket D is not a designated ROLE PLAY area the fact of the matter is there is no such area designated on any map in ANY zone. There are stores (bartenders) where players can buy inspirations, there is a hopsital so players can rez in zone during events and there is a trainer so they can level up. All of those things are tools used by players running missions not standing around chatting to one another at the bar. Another poster here brought up a good point. Now I know there have been a few comic book super heroes that were also known to drink but exactly when did being a super hero entail getting up, throwing on the old super hero outfit and heading to the bar to stand around talking about yourself and hitting on hot babes? That's not being a hero that being a lounge lizard and / or an alcoholic. Anytime stuff like this comes up there are always people that say no one can tell you how to PLAY the game. I saw that comment as well and wasn't sure if it was directed at me or not. Funny thing is I NEVER said once this guy couldn't or shouldn't RP.. The comment he made in globals was that ALL OF US shouldn't come to a specific ZONE to play the game. POCKET D is COOP so Heroes, Villains, Rogues and Vigilantes can all meet and form leagues... The trials are Coop so while there are are other places as well.. people are going to use Pocket D. If all he needs is a spot wher he and his friends can gather and chat why can't THEY move to say Perez Park? Practically no one goes there if they don't have to and parts of it are very pretty.. OH I forgot it doesn't have a disco ball and a bar!
  13. This is the very first post I logged onto tonight when I came back after dinner....

You can imagine the responses this guy got in resonse to that. Mine was simply "Oh we are sorry. Is our playing the GAME interferring with your RP? I am sure we are all so ashamed!"

I got back a reduculous reply about there being plenty of other places to form a league. Well yes that's true but not that many that offer the league access to things it needs..

RWZ great place to start a team. access to a store to sell off enhancements and unwanted salvage you get during a trial, a place to buy inspirations to replace ones you used, and even access to crafting tables and you base. PROBLEM everyone realizes that and so many leagues form there the lag in horrible and some of your league members can't even get into the zone your in. You wind up playing music RWZ trying to find one with enough room for the whole group.

Cimerora Not as ideal as RWZ but has a store and a combat nurse. No access to crafting tables or to your base directly. LESS teams use this so its not as laggy but again less access to stuff

The Midnighter Club Seemed like a good idea but has almost no access at all.. You get a store and that's it.. no base access, no tables, and no place to buy inspirations. ALSO very small amount of people fill it.. had people actually have to wait to get in and be assigned to a team because pleayers were traveling through to get to Cimerora to run the ITF

Pocket D not idea again no store but does have access to inspirations. For access to your base or crafting head outside into the neighborhoods. LAGGY? yes but designed to hold a large number of players due to the events that run inside it throughout the year.. Winter event, Valentine's (Spring Event) etc...

Studio 55 better than Pocket D as far as lag but I searched and if there is a bartender selling inspirations he is using the best Invisible I have seen. Between mission people wind up running to the hospital in Imperial City to resupply.

Now I have heard people complaining .."Why don't you all go do that in Galaxy City.. no one is ever there." Gee that sounds great but the trial is Co-op mind telling all of us how the Villains in the league get there?

I have nothing against RPer but a statement like that is rediculous. What's next players suggesting that people stop using the AE building and the sewers in Atlas Park because it is causing lag and disrupting the costume contests? Your standing around at the bar basically typing back and forth to one another while WE are out doing missions and trying to improve our characters. And before the obvious argument gets posted to this thread.. YEAH AND WE PAY OUR MONTHLY FEES TO BE HERE TOO. Last I checked there was no sign on the entrances that said "for RP purposes Only"

Fact is right now dozens of leagues are forming at any moment and they run to any spot they can find where all 24 of them can squeeze in.

Due to the non-constructive nature of recent posts in this thread, the conversation has now come to a close.

OH God yes. Now I have only had this happen twice in all the BAFs I have done.. been on some pretty good teams that watched that closely but in both cases it was the only time I finished the Trial and discovered I'd made more that 10% of the iXP I needed.

I still cant figure out why the LAMBDA seems to reward better. Sure mobs vanish more often on the BAF than on it but there are a LOT more mobs. That and the fact that 1/3 of the Lambda all but requires you to ignore mobs and concentrate of glowies while every phase of a BAF has you killing stuff????

I guess it evens out a bit in the end. I have NEVER gotten the reward table that only offered me ten threads or a super Inspiration doing a BAF.. I have had that one three times doing the Lambda.

heheh you joke Zombie but the other day I was on the BAF and arrived just in time for the cut scene to begin. I made a quick trip to the bathroom certain it would be over and people would be screaming where are you? I got back and the thing still wasn't finished.

I have run a lot of BAFs and that scene has become my cue to go make a fresh glass of ice tea, or refill my coffee, or grab a snack or just het up and stretch LOL

Oh Look Mother Mayhem is on! BRB I am running to the store!"

Exactly! Now they changed Posi but if you were around back before it was split into two shorter TFs it was the only task force that had no AV. The thing took hours to complete back then since no one had a travel power before 14, raptor packs didn't exist, and neither did mission teleporters. Some people actually split it up over two days and there were times when a single team member would log on and do missions by him or herself just to speed things along. It WAS actually possible for one person to complete the TF solo.

Now between IOed out builds and purpled out builds there are players out there soloing even the hardest TFs but back when the best you could hope for were SO enhancers no one was even thinking about trying to solo a Maticore and facing Hopkins solo.. now he's pretty much the wimpiest AV we see. LOL Hey I have an 50 level IO in every slot of my MAIN and I don;t think I'd even want to consider doing a STF solo
  17. I know what you mean I just opened up Lore on my second character last night and by the time the trial I was on ended I stepped outside the BAF and slotted a tier three into the brand new power. And the exact same thing occured when I opened up Destiny.

I think part of the problem is the design of both trials and I seriously doubt anything we say here will change it.

You start a BAF and enter the facility. The entire inner courtyard is teaming with IDF troops and it looks like one heck of a battle but as soon as you defeat 40 of them the rest all disappear.

You move into part two and tackle Nightstar solo along with her MK Vickies. Now I suppose you COULD slow down the defeat of the AV and use as much of the time as your allowed to get more Vickies out but most people just defeat Nightstar and move on. Worst part is .. even if there are 9 or 10 Vickies still around when she is defeated they disappear too.

Now you move to the Escapee phase and at least during this for 5 straight minutes you can defeat as many runaways as possibe. When the 5 minutes are up they drop to their knees and are no longer vaild targets.

Now you take on Siege and the 9CU units and just like the solo battle with Nightstar you have an opportunity to take out his support. This is probably the one phase here things don't go poof because as fast as he is defeat Siege and Nightstar regen for the final battle. You can take out quite a few Vickies and 9CU during this since your trying to make sure BOTH AVs are defeated together but once again as soon as they both die.. anything still standing to attack disappears.

I averaged about 10% of the IXP I needed for every BAF run I did and since last Tuesday I have opened up and slotted 2 characters with all 4 new powers and gotten them to 50(+3). Now I had some failed attempts which messed up the numbers a bit but I'd say I probably have done the BAF at least 45 to 50 times to get all those slots open

The Lambda isn't quite as bad.. Part one allows you to clear the entire map including the EB "security team" before moving on to part two.

Part two is a huge tease though... You know you have to get all, or as many as you can, of the acids and pacifier grenades to succeed in part three so you rush past mob after mob of IDT searching and if your lucky may take out a few of them as you destrot weapon caches or containment chambers. then, just like the BAF, you are denied any chance at extra iXP since either the time runs out or your teams locate all of both weapons. You can have 5 or 6 minujtes left on the clock when the last glowie is destroyed but forget about battling any of the mobs in the facility because part three starts and you are transported outside to battle Maurader.

The very first thing you do outside is close down all of the portals that will allow reinforcements to arrive so you deny yourself added things to defeat.. then again if your teams failed to get most of those acid bombs the reinforcements come so fast that you can quickly be overwhelmed and wind up failing the trial. Of course you can take out IDT while battling Maurader but just like the BAF as soon as he is defeated everything else disappears and you are left inside an empty facility. Time to head out and start over

Now suprisingly the Lambda does seem to actually give out more IXP.. I averaged about 20-25% per attempt and almost always 25% or higher on the successful ones. That translated into doing around 4-5 to open each power so I have only done about 20 of them.

Now fortunately neither trial takes a huge amount of time to complete with a good team and I have been on some REALLY good teams but that still equates to close to 30 hours of nothing but running trials .. I managed one ITF on a character that still needed a Notice and did managed to complete one KAL TF villain side on my badger but for the most part all I did all week was BAF and Lambda.

Neither is set up like say the Imperious TF. Even after defeating Romulus you can roam around inside his castle and defeat hundreds of left over Cimeroran Traitors. With the BAF and LAMBDA mission complete means MISSION OVER.. move on!

Yep .. Now the BAF is already being conquered.. even I have one character with Master Of and the other only needs one more. The Lambda ones .. both my characters have Syncronized but for a while I don't see a lot of players getting any of the others. Like Lothic mentioned until we can throw teams into that with nothing but 50(+3)s where we can handle the waves of reinforcement AND defeat Maurader I can't see anyone not using their Acid. MAYBE they could get by without using the pacification grenades. I have already done a couple where we didnt need all of them to take him down. Give it time .. there are plenty of players out there now with +3s and that MO will get easier as well.
  19. I enjoy them both. I actually like the Lambda Trial better than the BAF. It can get tricky if your team doesn't get enough acid and I think one reason some players dislike it is because part two pretty much requires you to ignore a TON of potential iXP to gather weapons for part three. And once you find all of the acid and grenades you don't even get whatever time may be left over to try and earn some because that spawns Maurader and the beginning of Part three.

Both definately require team work and players that LISTEN to instructions. Earlier I was on a BAF and we were into the final part where you need to defeat Siege and Nightstar within 10 second of each other. I don't know how many times I saw in League chat someone shouting out the health totals "Siege 55/ NIghtstar 21 STOP attacking her till we catch up." Of course Scrapper and Blaster Lock prevailed and we got the delightful task of having to defeat them both twice. To the credit of leadership we were so fast and so good we acomplished this and still had time left on the counter.

This is not a Sister Psyche where you can power your way through stuff and even stealth and tp around fights. Here you better come ready to battle and if you are still trying to open up a power the last hing you want to do is find a way to SPEED through things. The more IDF you defeat the more iXP you earn and the faster you open those powers and eventually become a 50(+3).

Its different and its been a lot of fun so far. I look forward to more trials in the future. Lets see so far we have defeated Battle Maiden [mission two of Apex], Nueron and Bobcat, [mission three of Tin Mage], Siege and Nightstar [BAF] and Maurader {Lambda]. That makes 6 of Coles Praetors down and quite a few to go. Is a confrontation with Mother Mayhem on the horizon? Heaven help us that will probably involve Seers.. I sire hope we get some form of PSI protection in the bext few power slots.

Actually Tech no I did not know that.. Thanks for the update. Does make me wonder though if Requiem is a Nictus then WHY don't we see any Galaxy style troops in the ranks of the 5th? I did mention my Canon Fu is a bit weak in some areas.. And in case anyone wasn't 100% certain this whole thread is meant to be sort of a running joke.

I really don't, or at least didn't, mind Cut Scenes prior to the incarnate sysytem .. with 12 different characters running though the WST each week to get the Notices they needed to hit Tier 4 not to mention all the TFS I did prior to that just to get to tier 3 I have seen them all over and over and over... just like everyone else. The first time I ever saw the two CSes involving Aeon in the STF I was giggling over his ineptness. After viewing it 15 times the week the STF was the WST the joke got a little stale and I found myslef thinking "Can you please just shut up and let me go pound on the AVs?" lol I know I wasn;t alone cause other team members were groaning and complaining when it finished as well.

Someone else mentioned it .. the Mother Mayhem CS in the BAF is even worse. If you are not the first one to zone in there are times that you can't even move before you have to sit and watch it.. AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN. On a full league with 24 players I have averaged abount 10% of the IXP I needed to open Justice and then Lore... sometimes a little more bit not often. SO in order to open up both those new powers I had to run... 20 BAFS. Lambdas actually reward quicker.. I was able to get around 20-25% or more per trial .. so 8-9 opened both Interface and Destiny. Figures Mauraders CS is shorter so baturally they fix it so we don't HAVE to watch it as much. Now.. at this point 2 of my 12 characters have opened all 4 new powers and gotten to the point where they are 50 (+3)s during trials.. that means I have now viewed that Mother Mayhem cutscene around 40 times since Tuesday. Yes I have completely lost what little mind I had left. hehehe

Jakarr is absolutely correct. My first MM was a Merc and they are sort of so-so as far as minions go but DM can be awesome . One thing I'd add is the fact the Feamsome Stare can be slotted To Hit Debuffs making it yet another power that makes tackling any for easier. I personally didn't use anything to enhance it but one accuracy and three to hit debuff IOs.

hehehe And Fluffy give you the advantage of being the only MM with 7 pets not 6. I threw in a recharge reduction there so i can get him/her/it (??) back sooner

I have moved on to Demons and Bots myself but with DM to reduce the effectiveness of whatever your battling any minon set can do well. By the way .. while Merc are underpowered at least they respond to commands better than ninjas.. those things are flat out crazy and happen to be the only minon set I ever deleted LOL
  22. I did this SF yesterday with Operative Tessa and enjoyed it. You question has already been answered but yes this is one of those rare occasions where if you want to do the SF you need a Villain or Rogue to open it. You get the same thing hero side if a Rogue tried to start up a Hess TF on Striga or a Katy Hannon in Croatoa.

I think the team I was on was all Villains and Rogues so the only minor concern was when we organinzed the original leader promoted me to leader since I was a 50 level .. so everyone would be a 40 level for the SF. Then he realized I might not be able to talk to Kal unless I'd done the tip mission. Fortunately I had and we were off and running.

Sometime today I want to try to get on an Admiral Sutter TF hero side so I can keep Tessa's record going. She has successfully completed every TF. SF and trial in game.. except Sutter's. and that will change SOON!

To anyone that hasn't done this yet I recommend the new SF. It's not long.. took us less than an hour. The story is interesting and while you are facing a combination of Warriors, Midnighters, and COT you do not spend a lot of time in those COT winding mazelike underground bases. Try it and enjoy the fun
  23. Good Morning Fellow Forumites. Well its was nice to see the response to my thread lol

    On to my next review....

Today let's look at an old favorite I mentioned last night. The cut scene from the Imperious Task Force or "I AM NICTUS!" Well I will give them this much at some point they must have realized this thing was rambling on because anyone that remembers back far enough can confirm the fact that someone in the art department went back in and shortened it.

I have two concerns about the CS. The first is a WTF? Now we have been transported back in time to the ancient Roman Empire and are battling the 5th column and the Cimeroran traitors thratening to alter history. Okay that's fine and certainly not the first time a comic book hero ever time traveled. What confuses me is where did the Nictus come from in this little scenario? My Canon history may be a bit spotty but I was under the impression that the 5th Column and the Council had a lot of the same troops.. hence the appearance of Vamprii and Warwolves in both rival organizations BUT only the Council has Galaxy troops and they were the ones that were created by a Nictus merging with a Council recruit. Now we are more than 2000 years in the past and we have 5th Column Nazis along with Nictus influencing a Roman General into trying to take control? http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Galaxy_Soldiers Don't believe me check here and I quote:

    Quote:
The Galaxy Band was developed by the villain Arakhn and, unlike other Bands of the Council, it wasn't absorbed or based on anything Requiem's organization, the 5th Column already had. This Band has its own role in the Kheldian war.
So what after he got his butt kicked and was sent into exile by the Center Requiem decided to cut a deal with the Nictus?

Okay my second concern is the placement of the trigger to roll this gem of great acting. I just battled my way through a horde of Cimeroran traitors and reached the grand plaza where Rommi is reviewing some of his troops along with his buddies the Nictus. I reach the bottom of the steps and start battling 5th Column and then .. POOF for the next minute or so I am watching Romulus be taken over by a Nictus. Now I have done the TF enough to relax and realize that all action has stopped until the scene is over but that first time my immediate reaction was .. "OH MY GOD before this crap started I had a WarWolf Boss IN MY FACE. Am I going to wind up dead thank to this thing?" At least most of the othe scenes we have come to know and tolerate occur when nothing life altering is happening...

Doc Aeon's double rant during the STF is while we are working our way through the base to get to the map with the AVs and is placed in a spot where no Arachnos troops are anywhere near you.

Even Lord Recluse's monologue later in the STF comes AFTER you have defeated all 4 of his lieutenants so basically it gives you a chance to heal up before attacking the Flyer and then the towers.

The scene in the Baraccuda SF where we free Reichmann from the Longbow occurs after we clear the room and leads to us being transported to the next part of the mission. Forcing us to break out of a 5th column cell to attack.

But the only place the Devs could find to put the trigger for this scene was in a spot where we are surrounded by the bad guys? hehehe THANKS BOYS WE REALLY APPRECIATE THAT! I think my heart rate has gone back down now We can continue!

Tonight it seemed like the hardest part was finding a zone they'd all fit in Adeon. I joined a league and our first move was from RWZ 2 to 3. Well by the time most of us got to RWZ 3 we filled it up and not everyone that had just left 2 could get it. So we decided to try the Midnighter Club and of course a second group was trying to form a BAF as well. And OF COURSE it filled the zone and all our members couldn't get in there either.

We finally managed to get everyone into Pocket D and start the TRIAL. Recruiting 24 members and three moves.. getting the team together and in one spot took longer than the trial!
  25. The network would like to take this opportunity to state that the views expresses here in no way represent the opionion of this station or its affiliates.. they also do very little to prove the runor that Wendy may actually be sane!

Good evening fellow Cut Scene viewer its time to take a look at those short films we have all come to know and .. LOVE(???) here in COH. And I can;t think of a better place to start than with the latest and perhaps most talked about CS.. you know it, you've grown to hate it.. Mother Mayhem, Nightstar, and Siege in the epic "Explaining the BAF".

First lets deal with the obvious and the thing that DRAWS the most comments from your fellow players. Mother Mayhem's outfit leaves no doubt that she is very well endowed.. I think that should get past the censors. My question is has anyone besides me paid attention to the belt buckle she has on? OUCH that thing looks sharp and I am not sure how she manages to lean forward without puncturing herself.

On to Nightstar.. Now I think we can all agree its obvious where they got the design for the Vickies that we frequently find in our face during this Trial. Miss Star is certainly the inspiration for her support. One thing that I have wondered about though ... Exactly why does a robot, supposed devoid of feelings or any need for self gratification, need to wear lipstick? My other question is .. did Nemesis help design her? I thought he didn't exist in this version of earth and yet she does seem to be smoking in her scenes. No I don;t mean a cigar.. smoke is seeping from all over hjer body? After the BAF trial she may want to have her wiring looked at because that can't be good.

Which brings us to Siege. Now all of the praetors got make overs of a sort and Siege is not the only one that doesn't closely resemble his Primal Earth counterpart Citadel. That said we look at Nightstar and can see a MK Vickie... I look at Siege and can't help but wonder in Neuron's brother "Crazy Earl" threw him together from parts of old cars he has in his yard. Their isn't a WarWorks, IDT or clockwork that looks anything like him???? First time I saw him i wondered what the Droid General from Star Wars was doing in my Cut Scene.

Now on to the acting.. Mother Mayhem seems to have attended the Will~ i~ am Shatner~ School~ of ~Acting! She throws ~pauses~ in strange places through out all her speeches. And like Shatner she made sure she had the majority of the line. [Apologizes to Bill Shatner I love Star Trek and he is funny in his new show.. @%$! My Dad Said] Nightstar and Siege deliver their lines with no spark of passion at all.. OF COURSE THEY DON'T THEY ARE ROBOTS ROBOTS DON"T EMOTE!

I have to give this cut scene a Thumbs Down.. its long, it has nothing special just a way to explain the trial. Still its not as bad as Doc Aeon in the Statesman Task Force.. More on that next time but I will say this.. While a joke may seem funny when you watch it once it quickly becomes annoying after viewing it about 20 times in the same week. Ahhhh SHuT IT OFF SHUT IT OFF! lol

I decided it was time for us to review and rate the various Cut Scenes the Devs, in particular the Art Department since I am sure they were deeeply involved, hav given us. We have a wide range of them to chose from.. Everything from Rommi becoming a Nictus I AM NICTUS I AM NICTUS!

To Mender Ramiel explaining the Well of the Furies to us after it has disappeared.

the new one on the BAF has been commented on so much and when the STF was the WST everyone was sick of DOc Aeon by the end of the week.. SO feel free to add you own review of your favorite or LEAST favorite CS. Okay so its late and I should be in bed. WHich explains why I am being silly.. NIGHT ALL :P:
