I got back into CoX late November for issue 19 and I only had two 50's at the time. With the introduction of weekly events I've seen regular events get pushed to the side. For instance the winter events, how many people took time out of their shard hunting and incarnate building schedule to do this. On 4 different servers is where I house my chars and on each it was a hassle to find people to do them with at any lvl.
Move onto spring fling - Again people are to busy grinding away shards and such to really give their time for it. I had four separate times where I would join someone we would do their part of the mish and then they would find some excuse to quite or just log off (I chalk up most of these to people who are D*%^@).
And the final annoyance - Task Forces that have nothing to do with shards! No one wants to do them?... Unless they are attached to a weekly strike, hence why Manticore was such a successful campaign again.
Does any one else feel getting a group together for a TF (super groups not included) a royal pain! I have so many alts that joining a SG on one of the four servers would not be kind to them because sometimes I just don't come back to those chars for some time. And if I joined one on each server that's to much time i don't have to give to keep from being kicked out for inactivity.

I think this all I have to say with out some feedback.

Well keep in mind that a lot of players have pulled old 50s out of retirement now that they have something meaningful to do with them. Sure its probably affected things but another thing to consider was prior to Issue 20 many of those players were, as you mentioned, working on shards and slotting characters. Unless a mission was level 50 it didn't drop any shards at all so that impacted participation a bit. Now also remember that most of those 50 levels out there shard and now thread hunting were sitting idle some place and already had all those event missions and badges a long time ago. Historically they'd be showing up with lower level atls to get the badges and rewards for them.. Well if they haven't created any new alts because they are playing their old timers .. they didn't need to do the event they already had all that stuff! It varies from server to server but I do know on Virtue things even slowed down on the April Fools Day weekend while players Trick or Treated ..instead of running the WST or the I Trials. Maybe Pocket D wasn't as crowded at Christmas as usual but there were still plnety of teams there facing Lady Winter and/or SnapTooth.
  2. There are other ways to get threads and advance. As someone already explained any content now will drop shards.. even joining a Sewer team in Atlas Park I suppose (I have no desire to test that to find out ). The thing is those ways are rather expensive since converting 10 shards to 10 threads cost 2.5 Million in influence and can onl;y be accomplished once a day. After that you can spend as much as you like converting 10 shards into 5 thread for the same 2.5 mil.

Keep in mind that a common component costs 20 thread and you need 3 to create a tier one enhancement so you'd need 110 shards and 27.5 million in influence to create 1 common enhancer for one power. You can also use threads to BUY incarnate experience rather than running the trials but I am not sure exactly what the exchange rate is on that. Well I know its 1 thread for X amount of IXP but I have no clue how many threads you'd need to go from 0% on a power to 100%. It is possible but would take a lot longer to accomplish that just running the trials and would cost a considerable amount of influence.

Now there is another trial, Anti-Matter's, going into closed Beta this month and supposedly will be release to play prior to issue 21. So we may have only 2 now but there are more on the way. I agree it does get very repeatative doing those same two trials again and again but fortunately most of my incarnates have $$ so I have combined running trials with converting threads and even bought some IXP on a couple to get them to having all 4 powers open and to at least tier 3.

Hey do what I do.. TAKE a BREAK. I have spent the past week working on lower level characters so the trials aren't the only thing I see. It will get better as we get more options.

PermaDeath? Forget that! No way I start all over with a new character just because I got defeated. heck even in old Atari games a character had X number of lives

Loss Levels or Powers? YEAH I don't think so.

The game is already set up after level 10 to incur debt we have to work, or now that we have patrol XP ..sleep off, and for 7 years that has worked just fine. I see no reason to change it.
  4. Okay I sort of missed the part about not fighting greys. This may take you a LOT longer than you hoped for unless you lower your standards a bit. You will find SOME Fakes in PI but only in the higher levels portions so you limited the number you'll find that way. Aside from Faathim's TF you may as well forget the Shadow Shard.. There are only two zones that are at or close to 50 .. Storm Palace (50 level zone but nothing there except Rularuu) or the Chantry (44-47 level but the only thing there are COT and Rularuu). FBZ probably has the most and it is the easiest to get to sonce you are there as soon as you step through the potral in PI but all the villains there are level 40-44.

I'm assuming you want the Fakes to finsih up working toward the Freedom Phalanx Reserve Accolade badge and that 10% increase in Hit points. You may need to make a decision between INF, recipes, salvage and potential shard drops and just getting the badge quick. I can normally get 100 Fakes soloing in FBZ in around an hour. So its one hour in FBZ or run Faathim's TF like 5 or 6 times.. that's around 10-12 hours. I don't even want to try to guess how long it would take you to find 100 Fifty level Fakes in PI.. that may take days!

When I get tired or frustrated with the trials I pull out one of my lower levels and play..This past week I got my KM/Reg Scrapper from 30 to 33, my AR/RAD Corrupter from 15 to 18 and my SD/DM Tank from 41 to 44.

I realize a lot of players think so but really guys and girls there is NO LAW that says once new content arrives the old must immediately be forsaken for all time! LOL Golden Girl mentioned that Anti-Matter's Trial will be out prior to issue 21 and I am sure we will see at least one if not more new trials once issue 21 goes live. Sure its a little mind numbing at times only having 2 ways to advance a character but considering the bugs, lag and problems they are still working on with the BAF and LAM would you REALLY have wanted them to try and give us more than that at once? I shudder to imagine the nightmare of 3 or 4 new trails going live all at once.

{does best imitation of Mr. Rogers she can} "Can you say server crash boys and girls? .... I thought that you could!"
  6. Unfortunately regular content just doesn't have a lot of Fake Nemesis in it. Two ways I know of to get some.. The Faathim the Kind TF in the Shadow Shard has a number of missions against Nemesis and I found quite a few Fakes in that. Be prepared for a couple of hours of play time if you do it though. Most people street hunt for them. You can find them in various spots around Peregrine Island and they are also found in many of the Shadow Shard zones.. As long as you are not worried about XP I'd stay in Fire Base Zulu and try out Points Tango and Wiskey I have had good luck finding them there.

Oh and there is one mission in the Dark Watcher's Arc (RWZ) that has some.. get a good sized team together and you can farm them in that as well. Anyone else have any other suggestions for him?

    Hope that helps
  7. I am against this idea. Not that I don't enjoy some of the Booster Packs and I have purchased a few but not all. If it has good items I can use I want it and am willing to pay. Examples include Ninja Run.. I now have characters that hit level 14 and get their permanent travel power without using a single second of time on the Raptor Pack they earned. Secondary Mutation comes in handy as an added buff although you never really know what you will get until its applied. on the other hand some I have skipped completely.. I refused to shell out 8 Dollars for the party pack (last I checked cool dance moves and the ability to dribble a basketball didn't help me in game one bit.

Now for the reasons I am against the OPs idea.. First off I agree with Tech... the last thing we need is to get to a point where we are paying for every update like SOME OTHER GAMES. The little boosters packs are fine now and then but let's keep the FREE stuff rolling.

And second while I don't begrudge them a few bucks they make selling Boosters I have often wondered.. Why can't we get something nice like that as a vet reward? I know I am not the only person in this situation..... At this point I have so many FREE RESPECs I could change my characters powers daily for a week or more and still not run out and then add in the ones I have earned running trials for badges plus the ones they give us in game when needed to correct a problem. I DONT NEED ANY MORE PLEASE STOP!

Then there are the free costumes I seem to get constantly.. Okay look It was been so long since any character I own had to PAY for an outfit its silly. I have older characters with 20 or more free tailor sessions that were awarded in game and have barely even touched the Vet Reward ones so those become pretty much useless as well.

And how many times have we been given a reward that was .. Item to decorate your base. Okay .. Unless your the base designer/builder for your SG how many of you are using these? And how many of you don't even belong to an SG to begin with? So they rank right up there as completely useless for MOST people.

So what it really boils down to is this .. after more than 5.5 years I have been given 3 attack temp powers that I can actually use. None can be enhanced and are only so effective at higher levels.. The Nemessi staff does come in handy in pulling or can assist a melee type when there is a need for range and same with the Black Wand! I have on BUFF pet that is pretty neat and does help a little. And I have been around long enough now that I can take a travel power at level 6 and don't need to take any of the other powers in the set to get it. That's about it. So after 63 months of paying my 15 bucks thats about all I get for my dedication. Oh and in case we forget run a BAF or Lambda trial and what happens to EVERY one of those powers? They are unavailable for use. Strangely Ninja Run works.. So I have going on 6 years of paid play under my belt but my Vet reward temp powers are useless but a guy with one month of play time and 10 bucks can use Ninja run? Fact is a guy that joins tomorrow can go to the store and pick up Ninja run, Secondary Mutation, Mystic Fortune, Self Destruct (so does anyone actually still USE that power? lol) etc.

I actually got one vet reward that consisted of 5 reward Merits??? Running out of ideas are we? I think maybe its time to stop selling us everything under the sun and actually GIVE us something nice that we can use as a reward for time invested in game. Again I am NOT say stop selling Booster packs but every once in a while it would be nice to get a Vet reward that actually feels like a reward. Last one I truly enjoyed was the City Traveler that allowed me to take my Travel power at level 6. I can still recall chuckling when I collected my FIVE Merits. First character that opened that was my badger and she was carrying close to 2000 reward merits at the time. "OH WOW 5 whole merits! Now I feel REALLY important." lol

Science Pack with wall, floor, ceiling and furniture option like we see during in game missions to Labs or Praetorian facilities

Cave Pack allowing us to turn our base into something similar to the Crucible in Cap Au Diable

    New zone?!

I spoke with War Witch last night in Pocket D.. well okay I was a little drunk at the time but I swear it was her!

She was completely wasted and when I offrered to buy her a drink she leaned in and whispered.

"Not supposed to tell anyone but I LIKES you. New zone izn't going to be what any1 spects hehehehe. Iz a whole new dimension ... EVIL Disneyworld! U wouldn't believe how long it took for our lawyers and theirs to come to an agre .. agre.. to stop hitting each other. Whole place will be run by the Evil Emperor Don OLD Duk and his 6 henchmen Mick e. Mouz, Gooey, Day Z, along with his Nephews Huey, Luey and CARL. Shhhhh don't let anyone else know Its 'pose to be a zurpize!"

So there you have it folks.. straight from the bosses mouth. it's a coop zone and we get to battle evil minons on the Materhorn ride and brave the terrors of "Its a Small World After All" LOL Thought maybe it was time for a lighter moment on this topic hehehe As i mentioned previously here until someone from NC soft makes an official announcement all any of us are doing is voicing an opinion. I'd love a Rikti Homeworld zone or a Moon Base myself but WHO KNOWS? oh Yeah WAR WITCH!

For now I've all but given up on the turnstile. I've waited hours for the silly thing to work.

I used that feature a few times in the first week after I 20 hit and got on a few teams with minimum numbers of members required. At times it was fine since we had some people that knew what to do but other times it could be a disaster. I haven't even tried it recently.. last time I did almost 30 minutes went by with no invite. I get the feeling most players have decided to form leagues first and then join the Q. You get better control over what ATs you have on your team that way and a much better chance for success. Now I have had leagues that got to say 22 members and just joined the Q hoping to pick up a member or two that may have been in Q waiting for an invite but to be honest I don't think we got many people that way.. probably because people just are signing up any more.

At some point they may tweek the LFG so it works better but for now it seems like most are ignoring it. The LEAGUE concept is still good and players are using it to form everything from BAF/LAMs, COPs, Hami Raids and Motherships Raids. League chat makes it much simpler for the LEADER to communicate with everyone and coordinate things faster.

Not sure we really need a PRIVATE league option I don't know of any league I have been on that wasn't at least in part a PUG. One group of players or one SG may have started the thing but to get 24 people together for a BAF run they all ending up advertising in broadcast and on Globals for added members. Most leagues I have run with did multiple runs to get powers opened and grab as many threads and components as possible.. between runs there have always been players that had to leave and new members recruited via PUG. heck all any leader has to do to make a league "private" is not advertise and only invite players they want through Tells, etc..

Allow me to explain: No, it would not be required to run Master Of. Shocking, right? It would be an option for people looking for a challenge or people that do not with to use Incarnate powers. It would work the same as putting a time limit or death limit on a TF through the challenge list.

    Thirlling.

Oh, and the Incarnate option added on to TFs/SFs of older content (such as Stateman's Task Force/Recluse's Strike Force) is actually a wonderful idea, especially for people that enjoy the currently available high-end content.

There you go. Simplified and with better wording.

hehehe I never said I MISSED the point. I knew you meant in general what I SAID was IF they actually every installed an option like that the first LEADER that robs me of my Incarnate powers because he or she thinks it would be cool to make the mission more of a challenge will find ME gone. If they want to make it more challenging go find a Field Rep and up the difficulty. I have done ITF since the new incarnate stuff hit that featured level 54 minions just like the Tin Mage and Apex. It's not hard to find ways to make the game more interesting WITHOUT robbing me of something I earned. BTW.. it was fun doing the 54 level ITF .. felt like we were back doing a Tin Mage. Oh and that was before issue 20 so all any of us had going for us was tier 4 Alpha powers..

people spend billions on their characters why is it there is always someone trying to find ways to deprive them of things they worked hard to ontain when all you have to do is make the bad guys tougher?

/unsigned Okay I am not even crazy about losing the temp powers I earned or bought. But I have done ?? countless TFs and now trials to get my incarnate abilities and the first JERK leader that hits some new option to shut all those off on a TF or trial I join is going to be either running it with one less member or reforming because I will quit.

Those powers took a lot of time and effort to obtain and I EARNED the right to have and use them. If I exemplar down and they disappear while I run a 24-33 level Respec trial in TV because I want the badge that's acceptable. If I am on an ITF in Cimerora facing level 50s or higher.. Too bad if my new powers make everything die faster. I am on the path to becoming a Demi-Goddess. Minons and Lieutenants should be dropping like flies in front of me, Bosses should be turning and running in fear and if Romulus doesn't like getting his butt beat then maybe he shouldn't have tried to overthrow his old bosses empire to begin with. NEWS FLASH - Just because it doesn't interest YOU does not make it a waste of time.

Pre-I13, the PVP zones *even on Pinnacle and Victory,* not exactly the two most populous servers, could be very active, and a great deal of fun. Why is there less interest now? Because it might as well be a very different game. Powers behave differently. You went from a learning curve to a learning brick wall.

For a very basic example? Take a tank and find an agony mage. What happens when they try to hold you? Nothing. Now take that same tank and find an agony mage in Bloody Bay. You still have status protection... no, wait, you don't. Agony mage looks at you, you're held... just not for as long as that Blaster over there.

That doesn't even BEGIN to get into things like heal decay, travel (and recovery/regen) suppression *for using an inspiration* and the like.

Bill relax I never said I wanted PVP removed from the game completely. I just stated an opinion as to why things changed the way they did and why I seriously doubt you'll ever see base raids again. You and I have found ourselves on the same side of MANY issues over the years and I certainly hope this one post didn't ruin that.

I never even got to participate in a COP before they pulled them so I have no idea what they were like but I do like the format they are using now. Three teams working together to overcome the villains and as a reward all players have the ability to gain a week long buff. Do one a week and you could be buffed constantly. I never participated in a base raid although the SG I belonged to had a coalition with an SG that did. We'd see thing in Coalition chat about "practice" for the raid and if I remember I think one or two of our members used to go and help out. Again I never said no one should ever have the ability to do a base raid just that I personally didn't like the idea and would have never accepted a challenge or even wasted the prestige to set my base up to BE raided. The SG I belonged to when raids were available was small and it took us a long time to earn the prestige we needed to build the base up the way we wanted it. To ME and to the other leaders of that now defunct SG it seemed stupid to even consider allowing another group to enter our base and potentially destroy all we'd worked so hard to earn/build. Along those same lines why on earth would we waste prestige setting up the base so someone COULD come in and do those things? Now the ;larger SGs with 60-70 active members out there every day pouring prestige into base.. IF they wanted to set up raids and maybe get lucky and get something for nothing or at worst lose a few items they could quickly replace ..then fine have fun.

Now I happen to play and enjoy both RED and BLUE sides of this game and actually started out on COV not COH. Currently most of my villains are rogues and my heroes are vigilantes so they have access to both atmospheres. You want an honest opinon of what I think truly sucks? There is not ONE accolade that grants powers hero side that requires a hero to go near a PVP zone. There are almost NO accolades with power villains side that don't require you to go into PvP and risk attack when all you want is a stupid exploration badge or to touch a couple history plaques. Heck Villain side even has one accolade that REQUIRES you to accumulate 1 million points of damage (Born in battle) to obtain. Don't go out and accomplish anything good (or bad as the case would be) go out and let them beat the crap out of you.. Here's you badge!

Again sorry if I upset you but All I was doing was stating my THEORY on why I don't think we will ever see the COP go back to being PVP or why we wont see base raids return.

On second though no one deserves to suffer that much. /e hand Fleeting Whisper a 9MM semi-automatic with a full 16 shot clip full of silver bullets. In case he has relatives! hehehehe
  16. Lets see I am siding with Lothic on this one BIG SUPRISE Frankly I never got into PvP and apparently neither did a good portion of the player base which NEWS FLASH is why the Devs gave up on it. Why waste time and resources on something the majority of your paying customers are ignoring? Then there is the whole idea behind base raids.. I'm sorry but my SG worked hard to earn the prestige that built our base and I really NEVER had a desire to accept a challenge from some other SG and let them come in and Destroy/Steal things that I'd have go go back out and work to replace. Actually the entire concept seems strange to me. Okay I know that in Comic Books, what the entire game is based on, some heroes and even hero groups don't get along with other groups but if we are all on the same side fighting evil what am I doing attacking YOUR base and stealing your stuff? Now Villain side made a bit more sense.. they are Villains! Every man for himself and if I take all of your stuff then MuWAHAHAHAHA I have more stuff than before!!

I think the new COP set up is great. Anyone can join in and everyone that does gets the option to get a week long IOP. I've run successful ones with several good SGs leading and had a lot of fun.

The PvP crowd got a lot smalled after the nerfs and it really isn't a huge issue in game IMO. Heck on Virtue I took my badger into Recluse's Victory to work on Pill boxes and Heavy Badges. On several occasions I had players send tells asking if I wanted to duel and I simply said No thanks working on badges. I never got attacked at all. I even had one guy ask if I'd battle him so he could test his new build but when he explained what he was looking to check it turned out it was an area my character was very vulnerable to so we figured it wouldn't be a good test for him. He found someone else later and I just kept defeating Pill boxes solo That should give you an idea of how HUGE the PvP issue is on Virtue. A few years back on Infinity my old Villain SG decided to do some PvPing and I joined in. I couldn't even get my Mastermind's pets summoned before teams of heroes showed up to send me to the hospital. After about half an hour of this we all just gave up and went back to PvE.

Exactly and I used that when i was working toward my portable Field Crafting table. If I ran a Sister Psyche, max level 25, all of the salvage and recipes that dropped were in that level range. The bonus I got at the end of the TF was a 50 level .. A reward for being successful and one I could conceivably use to enhance myself when i left the team. Everything that drops ruring the TF will be at the level of the mobs.. You may also notice that no SO or DO enhancements drop if you are exemplared. I never got stressed on MO runs, never understood why anyone did.

I think it was my first ever MO run that set the tone for me BrandX. It was an MoSTF and I joined because a friend wanted the badge badly. We went over strategy and it seemed clear to me and we entered the first mission. Sure enough one guy apparently did not pay attention and died. Well it was mission one so the leader, who was not my friend BTW, decided to reform and start over. So we did and this time it was the leader himself that managed to get killed as we tackled Sands. Sooo we started over again. Well we got to the Thorn tree mission on attempt # 3 and had another death. At one point the leader was actually contemplating restarting again but we told him it was getting late and if the team broke up he'd have to start recruiting all pver cause we'd quit. Things gradually went downhill from their and at 1AM on a night when I had to get up and go to work the next morning we still hadn't even gotten to the final mission and everyone just QUIT. Then there was that MoLRSF I mentioned where my SoA Crab Spider sat in a safe spot while the Brutes defeated stuff. Funny I have as much HP as most Scrappers and defenses some TANKS would envy but Heaven forbid I should step outside and help them.. I might die and ruin everything.. Not so much stressful as insulting and just NOT fun.

Now I have had some good attempts.. I did a MoKahn back when it was the WST. I'd already done it earlier in the week so I Knew my SD/SS Tanker could stand up to anything Riechmann had to throw at me. We moved along quickly and everyone was having fun. Last mission and we'd JUST taken down the final AV that Reichmann summoned and one of the squishues.. I think it was a defender got too close when Riechmann let loose with the Thunderbolt attack and Poof he was dead. About 1 minute later so was Reichmann and no one seemed to really care ... I know I was just happy with the shards amd INF I got and completely enjoyed Tanking against the 5th Column nasty!

I just REALLY like the new format better. It sets up specific goals each of which awards a badge and when you get all of the goals accomplished you get a Master's badge. Not that it isn't possible for a few people to skate through a badge or two on the new trials but MOST of the teams better be helping when you try to keep all the escapees from getting away or try to battle Siege and Nightstar in their Spawn points. So players are actually working to earn a MASTER OF badge.. Not hiding someplace watching and waiting for mission complete. Sorry I like to PLAY the game not watch it.. If I wanted to sit and do nothing I could turn on the GOLF Channel. Oooooo I know that will tick someone off hehehehe

That said, theres still tons of scope for a Rikti Homeworld zone or two. By all accounts theres either some sort of distubance or civil war going on back home, Traditionalists vs Restructurists, so it'd be in Earths best interest to help the Traditionalists.
That and they could then do a Rikti EAT...

Opps Thanks Tech Got them mixed up Hey I'd love a Rikti Home World zone. I just have afeeling with all we have seen lately the new zone will probably have something to do with Praetoria.. look at this issue even the new Sutter TF is centered around it and its the first time anyone above 20 level or below 50 has seen a Praetorian. So we now have 1-20 content in Praetoria, a 20-40 level TF involving them.. Logic says they have to come up with something from 40-49 or HEAVEN forbid someone may be upset. LOL

    New zone?!

Let's see new zone.. well as mentioned here numerous times the current trend has been CoOp since it provided new content to both COH and COV so despite what you may be hoping for expect that. As to what it will be I am not sure I even want to take a guess at that.

Moon Base? Well they did do a survey YEARS ago and this was what players wanted at the time but that means nothing.

Underwater zone like Atlantis? This has been a rumor since we discovered the one mission where you fell into the water and actually got to swim below the surface. Could be fun but not sure that will ever happen either.

Rikti Home World? Again something that has been rumored to be out there someplace waiting in the wings but what's left of the Omega team have returned to Earth.. Infernia and Galacia along with a Riktified Hero One .. the Honoree. So we aren't headed there to rescue anyone. Maybe to help overthrow the Traditionalists and end the conflict once and for all?

Okay for those that seem to despise it prepare to groan.. My guess would be a 35-50 level coop Praetorian zone. They do mention the Coming Storm in the newsletter but never say its coming with issue 21 or 22. They have said in the past they are NOT done with Praetoria and that eventually there would be content above level 20. Issue 20 gave us Praetorian based content between 20-40 with the Sutter SF and Kal SF .. not actually IN Preatoria but for the first time level 20's to 40's can battle Preatorian and join in defending Primal Earth along with the 50 + levels, Someone else mentioned it Coop seems to be 35-50 as seen with the new RWZ and Cimmerora so it makes sense that the new zone wil be that way as well. There are other factions on Preatoria that could come into play.. Hamidon and the Devouring earth control most of the planet beyond the security systems. The Carnival of Light is out there someplace?? And while none are specifically named its been hinted at that other cities survived the DE wars.

Anyway until someone actually announces what they have planned that works for NC Soft all we are doing is guessing. May as well relax and wait to see what it is before we start complaining about it. "Grumble, grumble, grumble can't believe they gave us another stupid____________ Zone. what did we need THAT for?" hehehe
  23. Okay in no particular order of importance..

    1. Super Side Kick - Definately agree with you on this one. This actually opened up so much more content to players and even gave 50 levels something to do pre Incarnate content. LOL Prior to it unless a 49 level was after a particular badge most wouldn't dream of wasting time on a TF that they'd missed. Now they have no problem doing any of them.

    2. Time Travel - Before Ouroborus I knew serious badgers that would purposely stay at the debt cap to avoid outleveling a contact with a badge mission and how many times did you see players offering millions to join a lower level that had a particular mission they needed.. now just go run the mission or arc through the portal and POOF your done and earnig added badges and merits for your efforts!

    3. Field Hospitals and Combat Nurses - a pretty recent change but anyone that ever joined an ITF can attest to how much better this has made things. Prior to it the last thing a villain would ever think of doing was try to hit his or her base to replenish Inspirations since that resulted in being auto kicked from the team. Not even sure if that was ever fixed since no one has the problem now.. between missions just head to the cave and buy them from Nurse Nancy

    4. Going Rogue - fulfilling a desire many of us expressed here on the forums for years. It has opened up so much more content and made it possible to take your Hero (Vig) to the Roque Isles to join friends or your Villain (Rog) to Paragon City to do the same. Badgers love it since it opened up SOOO many new opportunities.

    5. The Invention System - without a doubt was a huge change to the game in many ways. It can be as simple or as complex as you want to make it but the end result is your character is more powerful with a full set of IO enhancers. But that is just the tip of the iceberg on this.. Prior to the IO system most characters struggled along to earn INF and I had older characters I revisted that were in their 30s and had a collection of training orgin, dual origin and a couple single origin enhancements because that was all I could afford and I was the same as most. Since we got Wentworths and the Black Market a 6 level can get the right salvage drop and have a couple million on hand to spend.. SEE how big a change it has been? Back then a MILLION in INF was considered a lot.. Now even a billion is just considered so so LOL

    6. Email and the increase in transaction limits - Remember when it took forever to give another one of your characters any Influence? You had to find someone to transfer it for you and you could only transfer a million at one time (well 999,999). With the new email system and the new limits(??) I can easily transfer 30 , 40 or whatever million in INF to another character just by attaching it to an email and sending it to myself. No waiting around for a friend to show up on line or paying some stranger to assist you. These days when I create a new character they arrive in Atlas Park or Mercy at level 2 and have a nice little nest egg (usually 10 million to start) waiting for them. Heck I used to never waste inf on 5 or even 10 level TOs but now.. it may only be a small increase but every one helps and since I can always get more cash.. WHY NOT?

    7. Radio and Newspaper missions (and the raptor packs they provided) - nothing changed this game more than the addition of these mission along with the Safeguard and Mayhem missions they grant. Every player out there used to have to RUN everywhere until level 14 when you finally got a travel power.. This was also before Vet reward Mission teleporters (only good once every 30 minutes anyway) and back then the Yellow and Blue line, Ferries and Helicopters were not all connected so getting from one zone to another took up a lot more time. I swore there were nights where I spent more time getting to missions and then back to the contact (prior to being FINALLY given a cell phone number) than I did actually in missions earning XP.

Of course this only scratches the surface of changes that have improved the game experience.. from added powers, power customization as you mentioned. and even the new Incarnate System .. it has its critics but take a 50(+1) with 5 powers all at tier 3 or higher and do an STF or ITF and tell me you don't feel more like a demi-god. I did an ITF with a whole team of 50 (+3)s and Romi went down so fast I know he ran home to his mommy to complain about the big bullies that were picking on him. And before the posts hit YES I am very much aware that outside of the new trials those other 2 level shifts don't apply BUT I still get to use the powers SO I referred to a player with all 4 new ones open as a 50(+3). Sue me!

The game has its bugs but one thing I have always told people, here and in game, is it amazes me how much they LISTEN to what we ask for. Most of the major changes we have seen in the game are a direct result of us coming here and saying 'HEY We'd like to see this....." Businesses may say the Customer is Always Right but as long as it is feasible to do .. NC Soft actually tries its best to give us everything we ask for. Scary isn't it?

Well actually since most of Praetoria is a Mirrored image of Primal earth with each Primal Hero being a Praetorian Villain (?) at least to us on Earth Prime anyway. It stands to reason that the praetorian Azuria would be highly efficient and no one would ever be able to steal anything from her vault Then again MAYBE the Azuria we have is actually an Andriod created by Praetor Barry? Most of his creations are hastily thrown together and don't always work right.. at least that's what Anti-Matter says. Then again he's upset for being demoted so who knows? But it would explain why OUR Azuria can't manage to keep anything locked up and safe for more than like 5 minutes!

Now, the answer to that question isn't interesting - I keep getting magical salvage, so SOMETHING drops it - but the follow-up question to that has had me going over existing content and pondering:

What enemy group in Praetoria is magical?

Now, yes, I know you can point to Black Swan, Diabolique or Infernal, but those are all old content and they don't show up IN Praetoria. I'm trying to figure out if there is any magical group that new character starting out in Praetoria is likely to meet on his or her way to the old game where magic exists in spades. And I honestly can't think of one. Let's review what we have:

    Resistance:
-Primarily Tech. They have techno rifles, power armour, neutron bombs and energy gauntlets, plus hackers and inventors on staff.
-Sometimes Mutation - Vanessa DeVore and the various other psychics they have on staff make this up, but I haven't seen any in the actual rank or file, so there can't be many available.

    PPD:
-Primarily Tech. They have power armour, energy shields, energy blast gauntlets, scanning devices and so forth. They're technocops.
-Partly mutation. The PPD do have many Seers on staff and they show up with regular occurrence, so they definitely count.
-Sometimes science. Occasionally, they'll employ Ghouls, Failed Experiments and then there was that Second Division with the reincarnated Colonel Duray as a cyberghoul.

    Syndicate:
-Primarily Natural. They employ a wide range of martial arts, both unarmed and using melee weapons and guns of all kinds
-Partly Mutation. Most of the Syndicate Suits are psychic, be that through direct psychic powers or telekinesis or pyrokinesis.
-Maybe Tech? I mean, they have computers and labs and... Motorcycle helmets. That ought to count for something.

    Destroyers:
-Purely Science. "Me have body by Superadine!" Well, Fixadine, but the difference is academic at this point. They rarely use guns, they rarely use skill. They're mostly Raging and Crushing through pure brute strength.

    Ghouls:
-Primarily Science. They're the Praetorian Earth Vahzilok - mutated human beings and possibly reanimated corpses via scientific experimentation.
-Sometimes Tech. The Failed Experiments have cybernetics, though it's not clear how much those help, and Noble Savage is pretty much a cyborg.

    Clockwork:
-Pure Tech. They're robots. Simple as that.

And that's it. That's all the factions I've seen in Praetoria. Mostly tech, sometimes science or mutation. Even if we went ahead and added Natural to all the factions that involve humans, I still don't see a single faction that's actually magical. I never really noticed that before, but it seems like all the Praetorian content enemy factions are all mostly technological.

I don't really mean this as a complaint, really. The last thing I want is to shoehorn in a faction that doesn't fit in, but it's just... Odd that the Praetorian setting is THIS different from the rest of the game. Some people have called it a major departure from established themes (though probably not in those exact words) into a much more sci-fi bizarro future environment, and I can kind of see why. Paragon City and the Rogue Isles are sort of a mish-mash of different fictional worlds that clash in-fiction where they don't go well together in-theme. Praetoria, on the other hand, feels like a Minority Report style alternate future that's focused on its theme to the exclusion of esoteric elements.

I keep wondering: What happened to the Praetorian Circle of Thorns? Cole can't root the Resistance out of his own tunnels. How could he have rooted out incorporeal ghosts out of their miles of claustrophobic catacombs? What about the Midnight Squad? What happened to the Tsoo's ancestral magic? Where did all the demon-worshipping street gangs go? What happened to factions like the Legacy Chain? What about the descendants of the Mu? I mean, we KNOW magic exists on Praetoria, or at least we know by proxy, so where is it? I can see keeping it out of the eye of the public, but would the Resistance seriously never care to explore black magic as super weapon?

I hear we're due for more in-Praetoria content at some point in the indeterminate future, and I really hope they bring some more magic back into the world. It feels a bit too much like Mass Effect as it is now - all tech and science, no magic and mysticism. And we've proven those can coexist.
Eexcellent Point Sam and I agree. While I enjoyed the Halloween Tip missions we got I couldn't help but wonder exactly WHY all of a sudden in a world all but devoid of magic suddenly we were battling Circle of Thorn? Now they have managed to explain away their presence in a ton of other locations by stating they will go anywhere to obtain new magic and increase their power BUT if there is none to be found why bother?

I never really paid close enough attention so I am not sure what group or groups drop magic salvage but I recall getting it while I was there?????

We never really SEE them, aside from Vanessa DeVore, but somewhere in Praetoria there exists the Carnival of Light. With their mentalists and illusionists they would be a perfect addition to Praetoria and serve as the "Droppers of Magic Salvage" [is Droppers an actual term? lol I didn't think so]. Obviously Emperor Cole doesn't want magic in his world so it makes sense that the Carnies would be a part of the resistance.

To counter them perhaps we could intro more of Infernals race in Praetoria since they are Demon binders and deal with the black magic that surrounds them.. Hey we never see him but we do know from Maria's Arc that there is a Praetoirian version of Infernal so adding a group of villains comprised of Demons and Spectral Ghosts (shudders) isn't out of the question. They wouldn't be Cole's favorite allies by any means but what better way to fight the magic of the COL than with your own dark magic allies?

Another possibility would be Midnighters! The original Rikti invasion was stopped by Hero One and his group of Magic based heroes since the Rikti seem to fear them [having wiped out all the magicians on thie home world years ago]. By level 20 we have Vangaurd and Arachnos both showing up in Praetoria to help the Resistance so wouldn't it make sense for the Midnighter's Club to offer to send mages there as well to try and help stop Cole before he enslaves our world? Especially since one of the first things he'd do if he won is KILL ALL THE MAGES!

Okay I have rambled enough LOL
