Can we get clarification on when and if there will be a defeat badge for mimes and will that require 100, 200 or will they really make us work and use a 10,000 limit similar to what Rikti Monkeys used to be?
Possible suggestion for badge: Seen but not Heard! Badge features three mimes heads in classic pose .. one with hand over mouth, second with hands over ears and third with hands covering eyes. Note to legal check to be certain that pose is not copywritten!
Suggestion to solve language issues. Can't we all be awarded a special NPC pet that is fluent in all languages and translates for us? Possibly incorporate this into the free Vanguard MVAC we issued to most players.. at least then the thing would serve SOME purpose besides looking cute!
I KNEW IT! the new zone IS a Moon base! See we heard it hear first!hehehe entertaining as always Steel.

Quote:I bet it was COT, and one of those damn ghost LT's had debuffed his to-hit.
COT is the only faction in the game that's MUCH easier above level 40.
And don't me started on how nasty Vahzilok are. There should be Vahz all the way to 50, and they'd make every other faction look like tinkerbell fairies.
I agree with this evaluation 100% from 40 level on up I take grat joy in actually running missions against COT.. I consider it pay back for the grief they put me through at lower levels. At low levels I definately think Vahz are way too much for some ATs to deal with but the biggest thing they have that causes it is Toxic. At low levels I don't know of too many powersets that provide much, if any, protection for that. At higher levels Toxic wouldn't nearly as damaging. The reapers and morticians aren't that bad by themselves and the only thing special about thr embalmed is they explode! Their bosses do have mez attacks and debuffs so they would still be a threat but NOT much worse than some others.
heheheh just had a thought .. a 50 level Vahz Abomination standing next to a Malta Gunslinger in a pretty pink tutu with fake fairy wings glued to his back, -
Random thoughts after a brief trip to Recluse Victory.
Ah all this talk about the zone made me curious to see what it woul be like to take on pillboxed now that I have all my incarnate powers. So i headed to RV, grabbed a heavy and before the first heavy died U had 4 pillboxes open and hereos were headed to Bravo. I grabbed a 2nd heavy and took oput two more to WIN one for the Red team!
Okay all that aside if this channel really gets popular it coul not have come at a better time. Now we don't even need to limit ourselves to one eight man team.. We can form a league and enter RV, BB or Warburg with 2, 3 as many as 6 full teams. Now that's going to cut down on the speed each player earns badges since 6 teams can easily attack and defeat 6 pillboxes all at once (1 team of 8 to each PB with as many Heavies as we can grab.. and there aren't 6 heavies available at once). But we could quickly spawn the AVs again and again until we face every single one and everybody has all the badges.
LOL now obviously the chances we can manage to get 48 pleayers together to take out pillboxes at the same time is very slim but 2 teams? why not? And in a league we can easily and quietly communicate back and forth without using local, broadcast or request and every member can here what's being said no matter where they are. While I was in RV today I spawned Positron and Manticore after I defeated my 4th Pillbox. With 2 teams we could assign 4 members from each team to each AV and then all 16 members would get credit for, and the badge associated with, defeating them both. Two teams can easily take control of all available Heavies to work on that badge and by splitting them up we can each defeat 3 pillboxes per run. I know from past experience that once victory is declared(by taking out 6) that last Pillbox is worthless and doesn't add to anyone's totals if destroyed. Or both teams can attack all 6 Pillboxes to speed along that badge and spawn AVs even faster. Heck with 16 players and X number of heavies and pets we can attack all four gun emplacements at once and take down a box in no time. I forget the rest time after a victory is declared.. I think its 5 minutes? (someone can correct me if that's wrong its been a while). But in an hour or so we could probably get 16 people the badges for 10 and 50 pillboxes. And at the same time easily battle and defeat every available AV.
Oh and does the term safety in numbers sound familiar to anyone? Imagine the suprise if some hero or villain, depending on which side we are doing, sees a pillbox going down and decides to show up and attack hoping to improve rep and finds themself facing not one, not two not even 8 but 16 50 or 50(+1) levels with lore pets out, judgement attacks at the ready and buffed to the max for the zone. Top that off with, as I mentioned, the ability to stay in league chat so they don't even realize how many of us there are until they arrive.
Frankly not sure if that security is even an issue. The whole time I was in RV I saw one other player and he was another villain. barely even knew he was around until we wound up attacking the same Pillbox.. the 6th and final one for the victory. I think because I had out three sets of pets and did the majority of the damage he just walked away when we finished so I took control of the PB and RED TEAM WINS! Now I was playing during the day. I do know it gets busier and more actual PvP takes place in the evening hours. But we can try different times and see how things go. hey I am retired and enjoy the challenge of taking down the PBs .. anyone that wants to team up give a holler in the global and I will pull out my Crab and come help out.. Oh or my tanker, scrapper, whatever blue side LOL -
Conceded total victory and bows humbly to the king of Altism. OMG I thought I was bad when I had to buy a 2nd account so I could add more characters to Virtue! Very nice collection.. and now I know why half the time I can't use the name i want when I create a new character .. You have them all
heheh

Quote:So let me get this straight. You guys want the benefits that are associated with PVP (badges, etc) without actually having to PVP?
Good Lord, grow a spine.
I have a spine. I don't know which side you play but when all of the Accolades with powers on COV remove the requirement for some goofy exploration badge or history plaque I need to find in Bloody Bay, Sirens Call, Warburg or Recluses Victory so they mirror their Hero counterpart badges then talk trash. Until that happens why should anyone that just wants to get what they need for one of those have to contend with being pwzd so someone else can work on their PvP rep?
And before anyone starts in on me. I personally have spent hours in Recluse's victory taking control of heavies and defeating pillboxes solo for badges. To be honest for the most part it almost seemed like I had the entire zone to myself at times and there were other times where a single player would send me a tell and ask if I wanted to duel. I'd explain that I wasn't really looking for that I was just badging and they actually left me alone. I have helped a player or two test out a new build and fought them while I was there and we discussed the effects of new power etc. Afterwards they thanked me for the help and I went back to destroying pillboxes. Hey I even, for the fun of it, joined up with a team of villains one night on my crab spider and battled some heroes.. It was fun and I managed my one lone PvP kill that way LOL Seems to me here on Virtue for the most part we have a pretty decent PvP crowd that doesn't feel the need to constantly try to prove their manhoood by jumping on every solo body they see.
I personally like the idea of this channel and joined last night. Anyone that has ever tackled getting the Shivan Shard in BB knows its a lot easier to knock out all the guns on a pill box with a team than it is solo. Fighting through Arachnoids to try and free the scientists and launch a nuke is the same way in Warburg. Now personally I can solo a pill box in RV with a heavy in tow on my badger.. My crab spider and that was before I picked up my alpha, judgement, interface, lore and destiny powers and got them all to tier 3 or 4. But taking down a pillbox is easier and faster when teaming and you definately need a team to take on the AVs that spawn when you take control of .... hmm now was it 5 or 6 Pillboxes? I should know this I have more that 50 and have spawned the AVs and had to run like mad plenty of times -
Quote:How many members do you think a popular channel has online at any given time? Surely at least a hundred.
Presumably they joined the channel because they wanted to hear about TFs forming or whatever the channel topic is. Do you think that one hundred people want to have their chat window spammed with someone's random conversation? For ten minutes straight?
Oh some that I belong to have a LOT more than that. I have seen as many as 200-300 on a couple. And my heavens yes I can certainly understand a MOD stepping in if two, three or however many started a 10-15 minute long constant barrage of text discussing .... well discussing anything really. I mean come on if its the badge channel you could civer everything associated with a certain badge including the design of it in less time than that! a Task Force or LFG channel? how long does it take to type "Posi 1 forming in Steel. looking for 4 members PST to Wendy for invite" or "50(+3) Blaster looking for Lambda"
And even on the channel I have referred to a few times I have seen Mods step in and tell players to get back on topic that were discussing the latests Super Hero movie to hit the theaters. OKAY it is about superheroes but no where near a topic that is helping anyone in game.
I think the thing is that this is a very social game compared to some others. I have friends I have known for years and when we get together we discuss everything from how the week went for each of us, to the weather (when its been bad lol), the new baby(NO not mine! whew), jobs, and even what movies we have seen lately. Of course we are all in the same SG and are either going that one on one in tells or in SG or tem chat as we try to decide what task force, trial or missions we want to do together. I have always found this to be a very friendly and helpful community which is the main reason I still play the game after close to 6 years. I'm sure many people here have the same experiences and we tend to fall into the habit of discussing whatever, whenever and where ever we happen to be. I think if a member of a channel asks a simple question about something in game and gets a quick and accurate response then regardless of if its on topic or not as long as it doesn't interfere with anyone else it's fine... even the channel I have been referring to doesn't immediately jump on any member as soon as a single post that is off topic appears.
The problems arise when player one asks a question. Player two responds with an answer, Player three's answer follow a second or two later since he or she typed slower and had no idea player two was responding. Now Player one is happy and thanks both two and three. In the mean time Player four has jumped into the conversation with some added information on that question that two and three didn't cover. A detailed discussion of all the points broought up begins between all four players and now maybe even a fifth, sixth or whatever start to chime in with their thoughts on the topic. I KNOW sounds involved doesn't it but I HAVE seen just that sort of thing happen and then as these people develope a bit of a friendship the topic can switch to whatever and they are laughinmg and joking while other members of the channel are trying to use it for its actual purpose. At that point, actually long before that point, I can see where the MOD would want to hop in and steer the conversation back to where it belongs.
As long as the conversation is short and simply resolves a problem a player has I have never seen a MOD go insane and jump on anyone in any of the channels I belong to.. and I belong to a LOT lol. There are plenty of other channels and even places players can meet to chat about the new Thor movie or what their kids did last week. We all like to make new friends here.. its one of the best things about the game.. but that doesn't need to monopolize the conversation in a channel that is there to provide a service on one aspect of the game. -
Quote:Mostly.
The new incarnate powers are really overwhelming to the old content. Alpha is pretty liveable, but interface, destiny, and judgement are all sledgehammers smashing the older stuff. I'd like to say scale them back but most of them don't look like they would scale well. If you kept the old system of adding slots and powers you keep a situation where higher levels are more effective and clearly more effective but their abilities are scaled not to completely trivialize the content.
There are difficulties with doing this. You have to create new powers for at the very least the epics, and most likely tier 10 and 11 powers in the existing power sets. This is undoubtedly a large amount of work. The question is, "Is it a good thing to preserve the individuality of the ATs and powersets ?".
No not neceassarily. I have done ITFs recently with my 50 (+3) incarnates and still had a good challenge. First of all outside the trials use only get that 1 level shift so it's not like everything is green blue or grey now. And then there is always the option to UP the difficulty. I did an ITF with nothing but 54 levels and we had a blast. Of course you can't get every team leader to do that but form your own team and you can do what you like. A 54 level Cimeroran Traitor is just as hard to bring down as a 54 level 9CU. And even with the added powers from judgement, interface, lore and destiny we still had some team mates visit the hospital and a number of us visited the combat nurse between missions to resupply inspirations. The game can be as easy or as challenging as you chose to make it.. just move that little scrolling bar that has DIFF etched in it. -
Outstanding work of translation. Now it is all so clear to me. LOL
If you have room add...
Check your temp powers for acids we need to close those portals = stand around doing nothing cause you don't want to admit.... "I don't know where to look for that dude!"
Team 1 and 2 to north choke point Team 3 to south = Wait What? which way is north again? Hey am I on team 2? Oh look that guy is running away for us! Wow those PRISONER HAS ESCAPED letters are really BIG aren't they?
Oh and ...
Unless you have mez protection stay away from the doors = Hey why are all my pets attacking me? And the other guys at this door? -
Quote:Okay, Hand Clap. You're running a tank that DEPENDS on keeping huge gobs of enemies near you to keep your defenses up. And you took a power whose sole purpose is to scatter enemies.
Translation: Drop it.
TAKE TOUGH HIDE! It's part of the layering of protections you need to survive. It provides a baseline 5% (enhanced up to about 8%) defense. You're much too squishy otherwise.
Take a look at Call Me Awesome's guide to Invuln tankers and the soft cap.
Nearly all the goodness of a Stoner in Granite and none of the speed and damage penalties.
DO THIS DO IT SOON! I took hand clap ONCE years ago on a long since deleted Brute and the reasoning Hyper gave is dead on. I am a melee character that wants every enemy in the room gathered around me and I CLAP and then need to run across the room to hit the minon I was pounding on a second ago. I have a 50 level SD/SS tank and the only power he doesnt have is Hand Clap. Hurl is a specialty tool I use. Good for pulling from a distance and if your face to face with an AV hurl does damage and that Av doesn't move an inch.
I can't help much with Invulerable my two 50 tanks are SD and WP but never ever avoid taking anything that increases you defense or damage resistance. My SD/SS tank will stand toe to toe with Reichmann in the Kahn TF and pound on him for ever .. I take every defense I can get and will sacrifice an attack before I'd forgo a defense. -
Quote:I asked when the trial started, but got no response.
This BAF I"m on is 4 teams of 6.
Anybody understand why they would do that instead of 3 teams of 8?
Never seen it that but it would have advantages as others have mentioned.
Team 1 and 2 take the north Choke point teams 2 and 4 the South.
We are pulling Avs to the Helipads assigns three members from each team to battle the AV and three to do Adds .. this way all 4 teams get an equal share of the IXP if needed
Once we get to battling both Siege and Nightstar.. 3 members from 1/2 on Night star 3 from 3/4 on Siege the rest on ADDs and in between assist with YOUR teams AV.
If doing doors during the escapee phase could even make that simpler. each team is assigned 2 doors.. split into 3 man groups and guard them. may take a bit more organizing then that since they usually like a controlled with holds/immobs on each door.
Its not something I have ever experienced but if it worked.. WHY NOT? -
Quote:I don't mine the current two tier approach. 1-50 for normal play, incarnate for beyond that.
The problem with a general level bump is it'll take those clamoring for more levels a day or three at most to blow threw 10 levels that took the devs three months to create. And then we'll be back at square one.
So what we have now is a definitive level cap at 50, allowing people if they want to grind to pimp out their characters and/or continue on with the multiverse war.
/Agreed That defines it in a nutshell. Okay so the Devs up the level to 60. Spend months, probably more than a year developing new powers for every powerset of every AT, or more optional powers for the EPICS. Hey if we get 10 more levels we have to get some sort of benefits from them and since the incarnate powers we have are already tied to a system in game.,... we'd need something new. We will need SO that go to 60 level now and since a 50 level SO is still just about the same as a 40 level IO .. I think we can assume that a 60 level SO would = a 50 IO. NOW we need 60 level IOs so players can feel the added power. Once again why are we adding levels if we don;t get any benefit except more levels.. they's need to up the power limits ... and this is already possible. My tier 4 alpha currently allow some of my powers to attain 130% which definately exceeds the normal cap.
So the Devs spend 18 hour days slaving away to give us everything 60 level would require and what happens next? Just like Father X said. EVERYONE scrambles like mad for a month and has all their 50 levels to level 60 and then.. "Why can't we raise the limit to 70?"
The incarnate system need more content I don;t think anyone would disagree with that and we know its coming but its a perfectly fine system that actually has players using their 50 levels for something besides mindless INF machines to fund their lower level toons and host SG Costume Contests! Is it perfect yet? No Is anything perfect? No so enjoy what we have and what's coming up. The Devs have no intention of upping levels and frabkly if they ever do I want credit for the 100 million critters I have killed since hitting 50 and staring at that darn progress bar that shows I need 1 more point of XP to mkae 51.. Oh wait I am already 53 when I am in a trial anyway LOL -
Quote:Why do you care where your SG ranks? I doubt any of the ones I belong to are in the top ten thousand of anything anywhere and you know something? SO FREAKING WHAT?
Run around. Play. Have fun! Stop worrying about everyone else.
This makes sense.Oh goodness someone made sense on the forums! run RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! hehehe
I belong to/run or help run 4 different SG on Virtue, Three of them are 2-3 member SGs that we formed a long time agon and we have just about everything the BIG ones do ..except the possible relentless.. GO HUNT KILL PRESTIGE attitude. okay since base item prices and rents changed maybe that isn't as bad as it used to be but I had friends in top 50 SG that HAD to play X number of hours a week in SG mode, earn X amount of prestige a week, and participate in a minimum of SG events. My little SGs? all I have to do is log on and play when i feel like it. the forth is the Taxibot SG and we get together once a week and hang out, run missions and check to see how everyone is doing RL. We don't worry about prestige, or ranking or anything.. Our base is huge, totally equipped including all the stuff to host a COP and we have close to 1.5 millin in prestige. I PAY the rent and we could all exit SG mode tomorrow and have prestige to pay rent for more than 30 years. LOL
GO RELAX.. PLAY WHAT YOU FEEL LIKE who the heck cares? Only SGs that worry about that top 50 list... are the ones in the TOP 50 that want to stay there so they can use that as a recruiting tool. "Hey we are#2 in all of Virtue!" Hey I am number 28,784.. and I enjoy myself when i am on line
[editors note: The figure 28, 784 is a made up figure to emphasis a joke. It is not an accurate account of the ranking of any of Wendy's SG and the management takes no responsibility for anyone silly enough to take it seriously] DUH what do that thar mean?hehehe

Quote:Okay, I must be confused and wrong. And been dropping from the queue without noticing.
Though as the warning about no access to full screen is only at the point of entering the turnstyle. I know you cant do any of 1-5 in turnstyle, but mistakenly thought you could while in queue.
And to make sure we are all talking about the same thing, I call the queue, what happens when you click LFG and join queue, and call it entering the turnstyle when the league leader or the queue when reached min. numbers and you get the pop up window.
Oh I meant costume change at tailor too, poor wording sorry.
Yeah... What I did yesterday was click on LFG and clicked the button for willing to join either BAF or Lam. Then I tried to do all of those things I indictated. Every time I accessed a full sceen graphic or menu and came back I was back off the waiting list and had to reapply. Its a real pain in the butt .. you pretty much can't do anything but sit and wait for the thing to find you a team. and no problem on the costume I just figured I would clarify for you .. so no one else was confused either. I think some people think that once you click that you simply can't even access those menues and that may be the case once the green button appears and you actually JOIN the queue but if you are just waiting for an invite you can do ANYTHING but if you do it kicks you from the waiting list and you need to start all over.. Not a really good system if you ask me -
Quote:Ghost Widow is a Resistance contact by the name of Belladonna Vetrano. The rest probably are either in other parts of the world, were wiped out by the whole world ending thing, or are simply no name civilians living their lives. Just because they're important in our world doesn't mean they have to be in that one. Look at Nemesis, for example. Died a simple toy maker.
And I'm aware Praetorian Atlas wouldn't be the same as Primal, but at this point in the story the only logical reason to throw him in would be for a brief shock factor of "Oh man, it's Atlas! And he's an end boss in this TF!" which would kind of be a little distasteful to his name and the fame/hype that goes with it. Let's just work with the Praetorian roster we've already established instead of seeing how many copies we can toss at the story.
Well they already added to what we used to have through Maria and Tina. In Sutter's TF we face the praetorian version of Fushionette and Faultline .. interesting enough they swapped genders and in Praetoria it's Fushion ( male) LOL not sure if he's as dumb as his Primal earth counterpart or not. There are plenty of heroes to convert but really since everyone knows that the preatorians tend to be exact opposites of our earth I don't think anyone would see it as being disrespectful of our Atlas. Still we do have a ton of other heroes we can turn into Praetorian villains and if our Atlas was dead long before the game began its quite possible their's is as well. Might have died in the DE wars. -
Quote:But we haven't even seen the Primal versions.
They're not the same characters.
very valid point. Not sure how they'd do Atlas exactly .. anyone have a genuine idea what the Primal Earth version's powers were? The statue shows him holding up the earth much like his mythilogical counterpart. So aside from getting really BIG what.. super strength?
Here is one they have yet to address. Okay so we know that Cole eliminated what would have been the praetorian version of Recluse but wouldn't there still be a version of Black Scorpion? Ghost Widow? Mako? and Scirocco? And since they'd be likely to be the opposite of their Primal earth counterparts they'd probably be part of the resistance so maybe they could be Crusaders a part of the more violent faction that have gone completely over the edge and need to be stopped before they destroy everything. Another possibility is they actually do work for Cole in some capacity so they are Loyalists but follow the Responsibility path rather than seeking ultimate Power. -
Quote:No no I didnt mean it wasn't possible to use a train or portal etc or go to the tailor and make a costume. The game will allow you to access those function but what happened when you do access them and get that full screen graphic or menu is .. after exiting it has removed you from the queue waiting list and you will need to re join it in order to be placed on a team. And no changing from one costume you have to another doesn't affect anything.. I did mean going to the tailor and creating a new on or altering one you already had.I'm pretty sure you can do 1 & 2, and make a costume change while waiting in queue - I'll try again tonight. Its only when you have clicked the "enter" button that those things become impossible. Typically thats the shortest bit, you might be waiting 30 minutes to get to that point.
They really need to fix #5 though.
You can do any of the things I described in my testing but once you do it automatically drops you out of the queue and until you re join it you aren't even being considered for placement on a team.
So unfortunately the only way to TRY and cut down the time spent waiting for an invite is to stay in the zone you are in once you have joined the queue and don't do anything that would cause a full screen effect to take place. Or to make it simpler. ... ... Click to join either league or both and then sit down, shut up and do nothing until the game invites you to join a trial. With a possible wait of 30 minutes or maybe even more you might want to keep a good book by your computer so you have something to do. -
Quote:*shrug* You invite someone already on a team (though I assumed it was only the team's leader) to your League, the entire team goes with them. WAI, I figured.
We weren't sure how it happened and the league leader didn't recall inviting anyone from that team including the leader. Now one guy he did invite apparently had been running AE missions prior to joining us.. maybe he'd been a part of that team and it somehow sparked the glitch. We straightened it out but it was strange.
Hmm I did know it was possible to invite an entire team, or even smaller teams or two or three to a league. Had no idea they could also be kicked that way. Then again I haven't gotten comfy enough to lead a league yet so i don't have acces to that menu. I will make a mental note of that for if it happens again so i can clue the leader in and undo the problem faster THANKS Dispari -
Quote:One thing to keep in mind is that different people have different tolerances for what constitutes "over-moderation".
To continue the team leader example, there is one guy that I will NEVER join a team he is leading. I have no problem teaming with him when he isn't the leader and from what I have seen he's a nice guy but I find his leadership style to be way to controlling so I don't join teams he is leading. Conversely I'm sure there are people who like his leadership style and find my laid back "do whatever you want and we'll figure it out" style frustrating.
In both cases it isn't really a matter of "good" or "bad" it's a matter of being consistent and having a style that suits the other people involved.
Well this is sort of off topic Adeon. (looks around to make sure no mod is wating to poince on me LOL) But I have teamed with you on numerous occasions on the trials and I enjoy your style. You run a good league and give players the info they need. I have teamed with the other type that Mandu described and frankly by the end of the Task Force I was ready to aim my attacks at him instead of the AV.
'Why thank you very much for that insighful input but I somehow managed to get this Rad/Rad defender all the way to level 50 without your help. I have numerous accolades including TF commander and I do already have the badge for this TF so I have managed to complete it at least one time before. I think I know how to utilze my primary and secondary powers. Perhaps you can bother the Scrapper over there .. It doesn't look like he's maximizing the effectiveness of his attacks."
hehehehe I have you on my friends list and look for you when I am on line along with a number of other leaders I have 5 starred(did I embarass him with that?
)

/SIGNED
But seriously to sort of answer his question I seem to recall that those ranking are in fact based soley on activity. So number of players logged in a day and number of missions they run.prestige they earn. Or something like that so sadly a lot of those TOP rating are in fact based on part 2.. We farm and require members to earn X amount of prestige a day/week/month etc. Prior to the SSK these were the same sort of SGs that would power level members to get them to a point where they could earn more prestige per mission. -
Quote:Has anyone had any luck getting rares & vrs on masterminds yet?
So far, I've taken 9 characters through the trials to varying degrees (6 have both sets of level shifts), and my mastermind has been the only one that I had to "buy" rares with uncommons & emps. Also note that I have run more trials on that same MM than any other alt. Could just a be a continued string of bad luck but, then again, after acknowledging that the issue existed, I didn't see anything about a fix being attempted.
Some #s:
Pre-patch:
MM accounted for 17% of all trial drops, 55% of all common drops.
Post-patch:
MM is 25% of all trial drops, 50% of all common drops.
Thankfully I'm done with that mm (bot/dark, t2 ion judgement, rest are t3) so I won't get any more #s for her... but I'll probably start another soon, maybe nec/dark.
I ran my MM through the trials on week two. By then the tactics had switched to pulling both AVs to the heliport so all three teams could share in battling ADDs as well. She got 4 very rares and 3 rares on BAFs. I am not sure why but the BAF does seem to offer up better rewards than the Lambda at least in my case on all 6 of the characters I have opened up the 4 new slots on. I think the absolute lowest reward I have gotten on a BAF on any character was a common while thanks to lag and trips to the hospital I have had the dreaded 10 threads reward table several times on the Lambda. Oh T-Bot is a Bots/DM Mastermind with all four powers at T3 and eventually I'll work on teir 4s. I still have 6 more incarnates to run through the trials -
Quote:Make Freedom and Virtue pay? I would quit even if all I had to do to play free would be to start over on a low pop server.
Yeah that particular comment struck me as well since I have all my characters, well the ones I actually play anyway, on Virtue. First of all there has been no indication that COH is going FTP anytime soon if ever. And as the OP mentioned the 2 most populated servers are Freedom and Virtue. So just how stupid do we really think NC Soft is? You are planning to turn the game into a Free to play but tick off every player on your two largest populated servers by telling them.. "Oh that doesn't apply to you. We still want YOUR money!" And then several days later Freedom and Virtue are ghost towns since 90% of their members cancelled their subs. That's not a sounds business practice by any stretch of the imagination. -
No problem ForbinHey I was on line and between missions anyway.. So I donned the white lab coat, pulled out the clip board and ran experiments. Always much easier to test than try to guess.
'I BAFFELED THEM WITH SCIENCE!" lol -
Quote:Yes but this team wasn't looking to join a league. They were in the AE building in the RWZ about to run missions there. The League leader never invited any of them they just sort of showed up in our league and had to be individually removed. I am pretty sure that was not Working As Intended. LOLIntended behaviour, last I heard, to invite full teams to a League.

Quote:The quick answer is because if YOU have have a 10 minute off-topic discussion then so can everyone else. If 100 people all start a nonconcurant 10 minute conversation that's 1,000 minutes of offtopic discussion. 16 hours 40 minutes, and that's if they all conduct just one off topic one. if they get involved in it nad have several, you can fill the day easily. If each 10 minute conversation is just one line ever 10 seconds, that's 6,000 offtopic lines in which the actual topic is now mixed.
So what do you do? Lose the original topic in the off topic stuff or crack down hard or decide on a case by case basis and then no one knows the rules for what will get them silenced? And if you do go case by case, how do you avoid being viewed as showing favoritism ("Hey, Wendy went on for 10 minutes about which powerset combo was better: Dual Kittens/Catnip Buff or Sun Worshiping/Dog launchers, why can't I talk about which IO sets work best for Dog Launchers?")?
That makes sense. Like I said I do belong to a channel that has a very open policy about discussing anything and I have had to turn them off from time to time. SOOO much chat is taking place that it constantly fill the screen and things that are important to me, like TF or Trials forming, slip by unseen.
I had the same problem years ago with an SG we had a coalition with. They were RPer and used coalition chat to RP because they had 7 other SGs that did the same thing. Their play time kept the screen so full there were times I'd miss directions from a team leader until I finally moved team chat to the other window. Thankfully they eventually decided they were unhappy with us and broke the coalition... One of the other leaders set up the coalition and it turned out we were the only SG that didn't do ERP in the entire coalition.. we weren't "playing" right ... we actually did missions and stuff. OMG they do what? -
Okay let's examin the queue system as it stands today. Earlier I did a small experiment to assist another thread in determining what could and could not be done with waiting in the queue
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...&postcount=333
so to sumarize for you once you enter the queue
1. You can not use the train, ferry, heleicopter, ouro portal, base portal or any other means of transportation that requires a zoning screen. You are basically stuck where ever you are
2. You can craft new IO enhancements but don't try to slot them because accessing that screen will kick you from the queue
3. You can't enter your SG base, if you belong to one, and you can't do door missions of any kind.. again because the zoning screen will kick you out of the queue.
4. If you decided to respec you character or create a new costume while you wait.. you can't because that full screen menu will once again kick you out of the queue.
5. while it may vary from time of day or even server to server the wait to get onto a team can be as much as 20 to 30 minutes despite the 1 or 2 minute wait mentioned when you enter the queue.
Basically you are stuck where ever you join the queue and can't really do much that's productive while you wait except resupply your inspirations if they aren't full. You may waste as much as 30 minutes trying to get into a trial and when you finally do, considering the content of this thread, there is a very good chance the league leader will kick you right back out of the trial because the league only wanted 16 or 18 members to cut down on the lag inside the trial. You just wasted half an hour of playing time and now get to go join the queue all over again.
Frankly if someone presented me with a new product and that was the desciption of how it would work I'd feel pretty foolish even thinking about using it. I join leagues.. I can log on and head to the RWZ. I check my global channels and then the broadcast in zone for what is available and usually within a few minutes I am in a league and depending when they started forming within 5-10 minutes I can be inside a trial earning threads. I used half the time it took you to get an invite and I didn't have to sit around afraid to do anything for fear of lossing my spot in the queue.
Now explain to me exactly what is even remotely attarctive about joining the queue over finding a league and just joining before they step inside? I donk the issue is a locking devise on league.. fix the lag. That will solve the biggest part of the problem because the leagues will all go back to being full before they enter the queue. If a league enters the trial with 24 players the queue can't assigna a single person to it. Then the other thing that will need to happen is that tiny fraction of the player base that seems to be perfectly willing to let the game find them a team instead of looking for themselves will need to wake up and go find a team or they may be up to an hour sitting around waiting for an invite.
