My character was stuck in the "knockback" animation for a moment and then when I was able to move, the incarnate powers were missing from the tray - but my other powers were still there. I went to my powers list and everything was there but incarnate powers. Then I went to the incarnate power tab which showed five unlocked slots with nothing slotted and nothing available to slot.

I asked one of my teammates and he told me I still appeared to be 50 +3.

I start typing up a /bug when I did the knockback animation again, and that's when the rest of my powers vanished.

THAT'S exactly how my screenshot looks.. you saved me the effort of loading it! I didn't have the knockback animation problem but i have experienced that before .. usually during prisoner escape phase when lag seems to be the worst.

Oh yeah thanks for reminding me about that Snow.. I had the same problem .. the league list was gone and it was like I was all alone in there. Strangly I was still able to communicate via league chat and until i logged off was actually getting IXP and influence from the league defeating mobs.

    Powers gone!

Earlier in the day I was on a Lambda and one of the players was complaining that their powers were gone. We assumed it was the players first trial and explained that almost all temp powers were disabled.. but the player insisted it wasn't the temps his primary and secondary powers along with the temps were missing from his trays. I can't recall exactly what he did about it and may have actually just given up and quit.

Later in the evening I was on another Lambda and when we arrived in zone there was a slight flash, for lack of a beti was ter way to describe it, and just like the player earlier I was staring a 8 icon trays that prior to entering the queue and zoning into the trial map were full.. now absolutely nothing was in any of them. Hoping that someone knew some slash command I could use I broadcast me problem in league chat and unfortunately the only advice anyone could give was relog. I let the league leader know, logged off and back on and sure enough all my powers were back. I rejoined the trial just in time to battle Maurader and thankfully despite my long period away from the trial I was given an uncommon for my partici[pation.

What I am curious about is if anyone else has experiemced this lately on any of the three trials. Let me add a bit more to the information.. At one point someone suggested I just go to the powers tab and drag all my powers back into the trays howver when i accessed that it didn't show a single power either so I was just completely stuck. I could move of course but had none of my defenses turned on and no way to launch an attack of any kind. My only recourse was to log offf and back on to basically reboot my power trays.

I have a screen shot of this but have yet to load it so i can post it here but if this is an ongoing problem I didn't want to wait anymore before reporting it. Hopefully it doesn't occur again but if it does and ANYONE knows a slash command that will recitfy the situation I'd love to know what it is.

Then they clearly have no common sense, or business sense, at all. What NC SOFT is doing is really quite simple

    1. Continue to pay us $15 a month and become a VIP. Total access to the game just as you always have had before and bonuses that others won't have unless they decide to subscribe and pay as well. As a reward for your loyalty we will give you back $5 every month in reward points that you can use to buy items in our newly created in game store without having to spend additional cash

    2. If you prefer to stop paying us but have been a loyal subscriber for years/months we will designate you a "Premium" player. You will lose some content but can keep playing and can spend money, real money via a credit card, to purchase items in the store and to buy back certain features you lost when you stopped your subscription... THIS is designed to bring back some players that may have left the game due to financial difficulties and to give some that have remained but are struggling financially a way to play again or continue to play

    3. If you never played the game before you can now become a F2P player. You will get a very small number of slots and very limited access to the game. You are free to use the in game store to purchase almost anything you see that interests you and try it out. THIS is an extended version of the old 2 week free trial system, which is exactly why they are doing away with that system, and it is designed to lure in new players and hopefully once they see the VETS (VIPs) runing around with a pile of thing they can't enjoy without paying for each one seperately they will decide to subscribe and become VIPs as well.

Why is it so hard for people to understand that no company can exist without turning a profit. Every one of those So-called FREE TO PLAY games they talk about has some in game store where you can go to buy all the stuff you need to do anything more than just dabble a bit. Many give you the basic game BUT if you want to play this QUEST or that CHALLENGE you need to buy (BUY) an expansion pack. I myself tried out a small kingdom building game recently which advertised itself as free. Oh it was to begin with but then I discovered that to get to the next level I needed to improve all my buildings and I either needed to SLOWLY (very slowly) do that one building at a time or go BUY tokens I could use to get to that next level and then next and the next. to top it all off you were in a race against time because other kingdoms could attack and defeat you. Then they'd turn you into a colony and you had to provide them with a certain amount of your acquired wealth and soldiers to aid them in their continued conquests. Of course that meant YOU had less and less to try and improve your kingdom UNLESS you started buying stuff.. YEAH that's really FREE.

The fact is $15 a month, or less if you pay by the quarter or year, is realatively cheap compared to some games that actually SAY they are free. In under 8 years this game is on the verge of its 21st update which works out to better than two new additions a year. It's had two major expansions (COV AND PRAETORIA) that we did have to pay extra for but that compliment the original and now allow us to roam freely between them vastly increasing the size and the content available to all players.

Is it perfect.. No but then no game is which is why they are always tweeking things to get rid of bugs, reduce lag and make things better. NC Soft is a business just like your local grocery store or the gas station down the street. They have bills and salaries to pay and NEED money to do so. Now think about this.. just how long do you think your local grocery store would stay open if they decided to suddenly just start giving away all their food for free! ONE way or another the game needs to generate income to survive. If you enjoy playing it and want it to continue you can either give them $15 a month and be a VIP or spend cash at the store to buy back the items you lost by not subscribing. DID any of you really think it was in any way, shape, or form FAIR for you to get exactly the same amount of game content and pay nothing at all as those of us that continue to subscribe.... Then you are not being very realistic.

First of all, I understand your frustration. Some things I learned about Freedom with time (disabled IO's in particular) have dampened my enthusiasm. I still think Freedom is nice, I just look at it differently now, more as a way to go back to play new characters with older mechanics (no IO's) than a way to return to my old account. I like the game and as a too-casual player who doesn't feel paying $15 a month is justified I think that any option to play for free is good.

I don't know what other games you compare to. Having just read the full forum rules and been reminded not to compare to other games, I'm deleting the comparison I posted and will just say that Freedom is much better than another game gone free to play I tried, and I'm sure other games (some of which I only played as free) have some limitations equally bad or free.

BTW I just wanted to say that I think it's good that people are posting about their impressions of Freedom on the public forum. The beta forums aren't visible to non-subscribers, most information about Freedom is kept there, and so outsiders who are interested in Freedom have no way to learn a lot of things.
I wanted to respond to you because you seem to have a good attitude about the upcoming switch. Yes if you decide to stop paying there are some things you will lose... At no point in time did NC Soft ever come out and say we are going free to play.. from now on you will get everything you have now at no cost at all. It's a business and suddenly deciding to give everything you make away for free is not a good way to continue to pay the bills and turn a profit. As a Premium play you will retain a good deal of what you used to have based on how long you paid your $15 a month and, like many other so-called F2P games you will have the option to purchase certain things back that you lose.

Personally I plan to keep my subscription and become a VIP simply because I love the entire game and have no desire to have to buy BACK bits and pieces. Plus since I will get 400 points a month ($5) to buy additional items I didn't buy before (Booster Packs, ect) I see it as only paying $10 to continue to play at the same, or even a better, level.

Now to address the main reason I responded.. Since Beta went to OPEN a while back everyone should be able to access and read all the info on the beta folders here. While it was closed beta only those invited could post to or read them but once it goes to open beta anyone that wants to can hop over and test the new content and post to and read the Beta Forums. If you haven't tried that .. check it out.

I do have a couple of querstions:

How will Freedom affect expansion packs I've already bought?

Presuming I want a majority of what is in a pack, would it be better to get it now, or wait and buy it in the store after Freedom starts?

Needed to check to see if anyone has responded to your question. What i have seen on beta is that any booster pack you purchased is yours. All the powers and costume pieces I obtained from the ones I bought were still available to me.

As for any you haven't bought my advice would be to decide exactly how much of a particular pack you think you'd actually enjoy and use. If you like everything in a particular pack then buying it now may save you money. When Freedom goes live the packs will be broken down into bits and pieces that can be purchased seperately. The cost for one or two items isn't much but if you bought almost all of a pack as seperate items you'd probably use more points/cash (400 pts = $5) than buying the whole pack now.

Ah I like that idea and it utilizes the new tech we have in game. Now if we can just get the Devs to do it lol

Exactly Lothis and I am not sure where the OP got the idea that dropping from being a paid subscriber (a VIP) to a former subscriber (Premiere player) would alllow him access to all he has/had. If you continue to pay your $15 dollars each month you keep everything you have now, gain access to the vip server and monthly special content, and continue to get new stuff like time manipulation. True Beam Weapons and Street Justice will cost you but you lose nothing and gain another power set. You also get 400 points a month you can use to buy stuff at the store which is like them turning around EVERY MONTH and handing you back $5 and saying buy yourself something nice with this.

F2P players.. those brand new ones coming in that don't pay a penny get limited access to powersets, two global slots to TRY out the game. Now if they are happy with 2 character total between all the servers and only 8 ATs along with no access to AE or IOs then fine. They also have the option to buy short term licenses to try out those options and the option to BUY certain things by BUYING points in the on line store. The idea is to entice them to eventually subscribe and become VIPS. Premiums are those players that will return when the game goes F2P and get credit for the time they spent as paying customers. They get less then we do as VIPS but still get more than a brand new F2Per.

Sounds like the OP was assuming that he could stop paying and continue to get everything he used to pay for. AND how exactly is that fair to those of us that plan to continue to pay monthly. I think Dark Gob put it best.. "When you go .. can I haz your stuff"
  9. Hmmm let me see...

    1. SoA (crab) .. this is my main/badger AT I love her
    2. Blasters
    3. Controllers
    4. MasterMinds
    5 Scrappers
    6. Tanks/Brutes okay maybe Brutes/Tanks they are both close
    8. SoA (Widows)
    9 Defenders

I don't play the others enough to rate them but I would place

Peacebringers dead last with Warshades close behind. I have managed to get 1 warshade to 50 level and now rarely touch her and I have NEVER gotten a PB past, or even to level 20. My opinion has always been that they spent some time and created something special with thr VEATS but fell on their faces with the Khelds....

Squid mode ... Squishy beyond belief.. great damage but you need to stay alive long enough to use it

Dwarf mode .. I have never felt more like a meat shield than when I am asked to tank with my WS. People talk about how tankers have limited Damage potential but a dwarf has 4 attacks total so you spend a lot of time basically standing there taunting so everything attacks you while you wait for an attack to recharge.. Good Grief my tanks can pound on stuff constantly.

Human mode .. About the only one worth using (IMO) And here's the fun part, unless they finally fixed it, slot stamina to help with your end problem and then leave human mode and go dwarf. Now you need to slot end mods in dwarf because the ones in stamina ONLY work while you are in HUMAN form. If you try to be a tri form you need about 20 more enhancement slots than you get to make all three work .. as well as they can.

Now I won't go into detail on VEATS.. just leave you with this.. I have 3 of them, 2 are level 50 and incarnates and the third is level 43. Before stamina became inherent.. I had builds that didnt include a single Patron Power because I wanted the ones from my primary and secondary more. And the fact was I was just as effective solo or on a team back then as I am now. Oh and just one more jab at Khelds.. Despite being villains my SoAs don't have Intergalatic Bounty Hunters showing up everywhere they go trying to kill them and not once has my Crab caused a cyst to form in a mission that the team had to destroy before it caused a team wipe. hehehe okay RANT over

    13 Warshade
    14 Peacebringer

Barring that, the ability to at least promote/demote people who are not online would be a step in the right direction.

Oh LORD /signed and yeah I think that makes request number 2 million and 25 for that option

I have two very nice SG and a VG I run that basically consist of me and my friend and all of our alts. If he's not on line I can dual box with my 2nd account to invite a new character to the group but being able to invite via email would be great.

I KNOW the Devs are probably leery because there would be SGs out there emailing invites to everyone but they already have a system in place to stop that. Put that person on global ignore or limit your emails to friends and SG mates and no one can bother you.

Do you guys feel that it's that important anymore to have multiple tanks, since the trials are becoming so easy?
I mean some of the enemies were yellow!
    And I pulled Siege!

A tank is always nice for pulling the AVs but certainly not a required item for success. I've pulled Northstar with a Blaster using my sniper attack. On the BAF ranged and control character do much better during the escapee phase of the trial than the poor melee types. Now on the Lambda just the opposite is true during the glowie phase.. melee troops rule the day and support squishies generally just try to stay alive and contribute what they can.. but even that isn't always true. My Plant/Rad defender does very well on both trials.. No I am not saying she never dies hunting for grenades or acids but she holds her own and rarely dies more than once.

Basically between the level shifts and people knowing what to do they have both gotten a lot easier. But the same was true of the ITF when it first arrived. Until players got the hang of how to deal with the huge mobs and Romulus and his healing Nictus it was a nightmare.. now its probably one of, if not the , most popular TFs and level shifted or not people get through it with ease.

In the example given I Don't really see TOO much harm in not heading back inside. I have frequently started back in to help when the last one or two grenades were all that was left and by the time I zoned in.. we were zoing back out. If I am headed back from Hospital with 9 grenades and 10 acids found my reaction varies based on what I have. If its acids I usually just head to a door so I am in position to close it.

Now as for cut scene bombing.. I never do it. And I have been on a team where a Mastermind ticked off the entire league by not helping find a single acid or grenade and took up a position to cut scene bomb along with his pets. His excuse was .. he is squishy and would just die anyway. Strangely it was perfectly okay for my squishy controller to die 3 times and pass him standing at the open gate on my way back to help MY team mates.

He took considerable heat from several members of the league and THEN.. after posing in the cut scene his pets managed to aggro Maurader and before anyone else even got outside of the facility and into the courtyard the MISSION FAILED posted. Needless to say that guy got a llot of one star ratings and was kicked off the league when we got back to the rwz and reformed to TRY again for our Empyrean.

There is another potential problem with bombing. Apparently there is a very short, 3-5 second or whatever. period after the scene plays where Maurader is sort of in limbo and doesn't see the bomber so IF they move away quickly they don't aggro him. Stay too long and then try to run back to rejoin the league and you pull him and all tghe ADDs in on top of the league. I had this happen on a trial where the grenade team managed to find exactly 2 glowies before time ran out and the PLAN was to avoid aggro until we attacked some weapons deliveries. Instead we would up in a battle for our lives and quickly got over run. The people with acids couldn't even close doors because they were in the hospital and eventually the adds simply got to be too much and we failed.

There are actually a few leaders out there now that specify in their instructions... "Team one nades, Team two Acids. Whoever finishes first help the other team and I don't want to see anyone in the cut scene!" I even saw one leader KICK a league member that assumed that INSTRUCTION didn't apply to him and bombed anyway.

I hope this will be fixed in Freedom.

WOW I hope it gets fixed as well. i currently have 36 filled slots on Virtue and one of my very first purchases with points will be 12 more. I'd hate to think I could log on and decide to create a new character and NOT be able to because the store is down.

I also find this a bit unsettling in the here and now.. those 36 slots I currently own I used a credit card and cold hard cash to open. When I ran out of slots available I even opened a 2nd account, like many others, and then purchased MORE slots there after I passed 12. The idea that 36 of the 60 current slots I own are only available if the NC SOFT store is up and running is not acceptable. i have seen periods where the store has been off line for several days.. I didn't spend money to be told I have to wait in order to create new characters. Now if the game is down completely for maintenance I can understand but if its up and running I want access to what i paid for.

Yes that's true but Sort of HARD to do since they form up in totally different places and a 35 level can join an ITF.. which would automatically rule out doing an STF since you HAVE to be 45 or higher to join.

But lets take your idea and go another way.. and one I know has happened. A leader advertises he or she is forming a SHARD/XP ITF. Now I think most of us can agree that means we are NOT on a speed run. Not necessarily a kill all but we will defeat as much as possible to maximize our chances for shards and to give the lower level players all the xp they can get by taking out mob after mob.

Now you join the team and as mission 2 begins you suddenly find the team leader, a tank, and two brutes racing ahead and destroying all of the crystals. Leaving the rest of the team far behind and leaving them to TRY and deal with the resulting ambushes which include an EB. It becomes very apparent you are now on a speed run and when you question the leader are pretty much told to stop whining. mission 3 begins and you are teleported almost immediately to the Phalanx control console and while you are STILL trying to destroy that both Romulus and Requim are pulled from above so that phase can be completed as FAST as possible. Afterwords the team is rushed to the location of each general so it can be completed as quickly as possible. With ONE mission left you have now skipped countless mobs that would have given those on the team looking to level xp and probably a level or even 2 (I have joined shard runs and left with 2 + levels added to my character).

Now I am not saying that no one on that team didnt earn xp but how much did they pass up because the leader LIED about what he intended to do .. probably so he could fill his team and get started.

In the example I gave I don't know if the leader was just an out and out liar that realized not as many people like the Keyes trial as the BAF and he wanted to fill his team. Or if it was something as simple as hitting the wrong button when Qing it up but the fact was I offered to join a BAF. I personally don't enjoy the Keyes trial and IF it was advertised that way I would never have sent a tell. So after spending about 10-15 minutes standing around while the leaque completed recruiting I wound up quitting because I am tired people playing these sort of tricks. I had to go and find another league, wait another 10-15 minutes to fill and then finally got to do what I wanted to do to begin with. So because a leader wasn't honest about his intentions I probably spent about as much time standing around while a leaque was forming as it actually took to complete a trial. Now I am semi retires and have a good deal of time to play, when i am not taking care of the house and such, but there are a lot of players with limited amounts of time to devote to anything on COH. That 30 minutes or so sitting around doing next to nothing may have been a sizable portion of the time they had to play that day.

Now .. I want to see just how many people actually think its perfectly okay for a leader here, or for anyone anywhere, to purposely LIE about what they intend to do and trick others into joining them so THAT leader can have what HE wants. There are players out there that believe that no one else in this game matters at all as long as they get what they want. If you met someone like that in real life you'd probably grow to dispise and hate them pretty quickly but here because they are WILLING to lead a team we are suppose to ignore treating people like people.

As mentioned elsewhere here there is a rating system and when I started doing trials I used it. There are players running around with 4 or 5 stars over their heads because they impressed me with their leadership skills and the way they treated people. And there are players with one star that were complete jerks and i wanted to be certain I never teamed with them again. In one case the guy was so bad i not only one starred him I put him on global ignore so he can never invite me to anything ever again.

Oh God Guy I have seen that too. Seems to me like the HARD part of a trial , or for that matter any team, leadership is recruiting. Always struck me as strange for someone to FIND 23 other people to join a league, put them into fairly balanced teams and then hand the thing off to someone else.

SOOO saying.. "Pull Avs to north wall, chokes not doors, team 2 and 3 south 1 north" is too stressful but finding 23 team mates isn't!

    Ahh well .. whatever

Now I have seen it on things like the ITF. I 40 levels recruits and then asks one of the 50 levels to lead.. so all the 50 can get shards. THAT makes sense.
  16. minor suggestion and I will probably add this to Sexy Jays thread since it invloves costume parts. If possible, can we get the chest details we are buying with Astrals added to other things like shields. Originally my thought was THIS would be a great symbol for an SG but I realized its something EACH player has to purchase so that wouldn't work but I think it would be nice if the symbol on the chest of my SD/SS Tanker matched the Symbol on the shield. Seems like almost all of the other chest symbols are available for that so why not! If not it isn't huge just something i think would be a nice bonus feature.

Too many people state looking for any trial and then complain about how the leader wants to do it (eg keep them seperated)

I think you should start leading teams. It seems you are more than happy to complain about how poorly others do (this is repeat post theme by you) without being willing to do it yourself.

Calling the people who are willing to do more than "/b looking for trial' the bottom of the barrell is hardly going to encourage people to excell.

Its like PUG teams, dont like the ones you join? Make your own.
    Well to answer your comments..

    1. I don't ever just log on and advertise looking for any trial. I normally wait for a trial leader to advertise they are looking for members and then, as requested, send a tell. Now I have LED a lot of task forces and always advertise what I am forming and IF there is anything special going on I add that as well. The issue is far too many "leaders" these days just assume that everyone is perfectly happy with whatever insanity they want to attempt. I absolutely HATE speed runs on the ITF and a while back I joined one with a character I was looking to level. The leader advertised in several globals it was a SHARD run.. which usually means to the vast majority of the players no short cutting and we will take out as many mobs as we can.. not necessarily a kill all but we sure wont be skipping 10 ambushes in mission 2 as the brutes, tanks and scrappers race from crystal to crystal. Which is exactly what happened and when several of us commented about it the leader made some comment about our whinning too much. I sent a tell and told him exactly what i thought of him and quit. As i mentioned .. DON'T lie to me. I can always find another team or start one of my own.

    2. I thought I explained my reservations on leading trials fairly well. When they first started I wanted to wait until I understood what needed to be done before I led one.. something far too many so called leaders out there right now never bother with. heck I was on one league recently where it took 3 tries for us to make the leader undersatnd how to Q up the trial. Later on the lag situation became so bad I couldn't even think of joining a full sized BAF because I'd simply crash over and over. I could do mini BAFs and Lambdas but there were times when the lag would crash me even on those.. So I avoided leading because I didn't want to start something and then go POOF and force leadership on someone that had no desire to do it.

    3. Lastly I did say i was very probably going to start leading trials myself simply because the lag has gotten better and I now know as much, if not more, than half the leaders I am encountering.

And as for calling them the bottom of the barrel .. sorry but a bad leader is a bad leader. Are all of them that way... heck no! I hooked up with a great one earlier tonight that was running a BAF marathon. For three straight hours we did one trial after another and in between i used my globals and advertising skills to help replace anyone that had to leave. It was fantastic.. Out of (I forget) 9,10 or more trials i think we had 1 where we didn't get the extra astral for having no prisoners escape. Oh and here's a indicator I use to judge how well a trial went. i was on my MasterMind and in all the trials we ran I died once and only had to replace one of my minons on one other occasion. I had several trials I left and didn't even have to replace any inspirations and .. because I have a self rez I never saw the inside of the hospital ONCE. THAT is a good leader. he's on my global friends list now and ANY time he wants to run trials i will happily join up and help him recruit and lead one of the teams.
  18. Okay this thread is a minor rant and a place for anyone that has been seeing the same things I am about to describe to add their horror story.

In the past week or so I have been a part of or ran screaming away from all of the following:

    1. League leader sat in the rwz and advertised he was recruiting for a BAF. I was looking to join one to get my daily dose of Empyrean goodness so I sent a tell and joined. As we recruited the final few members a TANK made a comment about how "HE" wished we were doing the Keyes Trial. Next thing I know we are queued up and I didn't notice until I hit the green confirm button but suddenly we are headed into the Keyes trial and poof we are teleporting. As soon as we arrived I quit the team and one starred the leader. Don't LIE to me to get me on your team and then expect me to just blindly do whatever. Way too many league form every day for anyone to have to put up with that.. BTW about 4 other members of that same league quit and wound up on the BAFIi joined shortly afterwards.

    2. League leader advertised a BAF and I joined up.. when we got inside we were finally informed it was a master of run and we'd be doing the Keep em Seperated portion. Okay mostly I do the BAF for the easy astrals and Emp and am perfectly happy with the normal run but keep em seperate is another astral so fine. Problem was the leader threw teams together and didn't seem to care about actually making sure they could do their assigned jobs. The ADD team was the smallest of the three and ill equipped to keep the adds in check. I was on my Rad/Rad and we were doing a great job with Siege until we got totally overrun with adds, because most of the add team was in the hospital, and pretty soon the adds were totally out of control and people started to quit..INCLUDING the leader that put the mess togther to begin with. Okay first of all again don't lie.. if you intend to do a master run tell people so they can decide IF they want to join. And more important take a little time before qing to examine your teams and organinze them so there is a chance for success. LASTLY.. if you ever want me to join a team you run again don't quit when things go bad.. especially when its YOUR fault!

    3. Today a group of us were standing around and someone said "Okay since no one else wants to I'll form a Lambda and we can do the BAF afterwards.. Sounded perfect until the teams formed. Team one, the leader's team btw, was nothing but brutes, tankers and scrappers. Team 2, the one I was placed on, was nothing but blasters, an MM, a corruptor, one tank and one SoA. In short team 2 was going to spend a LOT of time face down on the floor in phase two. I figured after he was done recruiting the leader would juggle but NO and not only that he announce that team 1 would be doing acids and 2 would get grenades. Acids always seems to be a little easier than the grenades .. less lag and a simpler route. Then this idiot actually q'd us up.. I was assuming all the time he was joking but he actually intended to run the league that way. I decline the q and quit. Now I don't give a crap if I hunt acids or grenades I have done enough trials to have both routes memorized but DO NOT put together a team that has failure written all over it and expect me to hang around so you can giggle at my frustration.

A good friend in one of my SGs asked me what was happening with trial leadership recently.. he'd been on a number that were poorly organized and failede misreably. My theory is this...

The really good leaders that we all loved teaming with now have every single one of their characters to 50 (+3) with all powers slotted to tier 4 and are playing lower levels toons or may even be on Beta getting a heads up on issue 21. What we have now is the bottom of the barrel.. players that THINK they know what they are doing trying to lead and blaming the failures on everyone else BUT themselves.

Personally, to date, I have avoided leading trials. At first I wanted to get to know the trial before I tried to run one and then LAG made my actually staying on line and not crashing during a trial very iffy so I stayed away from leadership.. I don't like to start something and then suddenlt go POOF and force someone else to assume leadership Well the lag situation has calmed down and i can't recall the last trial I joined that i dc'd on so I am seriously considering taking control myself.. at least that way I know what I am signed up for and I hope I know enough about the game to put together teams that stand a chance of survival.

So.. that's my rant. What sort of nightmares have you al been running into lately

    How would they work?
Soloing possible with a, lets say demon (Whip) Storm, Heat mastery?
Anyone got any experience with this weird thing?
Are they worth it to try and level?
    Thank you!

It is possible.. as Memphis Bill mentioned there were a number of them around after Thugs MM arrived but there are some serious drawback to going petless...

    1. A Mastermind doesn't have a whole lot of HP and aside from pool powers you may grab no defense at all. Your defense is you pets.. they share any damage you take helping you live longer and they aggro so most mobs go after them and ignore you.

    2. You said you wanted DPS or liked it.. well MMs do have a good bit of DPS but the majority of that comes from . THE PETS. You normally get a grand total of three (3) attacks that you can use that are not related to your pets.. so your back to the pool powers again trying to grab up stuff like flurry, or jump kick to add to your damage potential.

Now I have seen MMs that went just the other way.. Had all their pets but ignored the personal attacks and took other pool powers to increase their benefit as a bufffer/defuffer/healer. The medicine Pool allows a heal and a rez, leadership allows a buff to defense and to accuracy, Recall friend coupled with the Invisibility pool can turn you into the stealther on a team (if you deactivate the pets of course LOL).

You can do anything you like but a petless MM just seems very gimped to me.. I have several at 50 level and in most cases I let the pets worry about damage while I am busy buffing or debuffing. Seems to work much better that way if I am on a team or soloing.
  20. Okay i wanted to add this one before it slips my mind again.

Do something about the ratio of Council to 5th column since they came back. There are Task Forces that require us to street hunt COUNCIL [Citadel, Numina just to name two] and when those TFs were designed the council were everywhere.. Now you can spend a good bit of time tracking down the few council troops the 5th column haven't run off. This get really annoying on a Numina.,, always used to be able to find and defeat 20 council pretty fast in Boomtown.. now if they haven't been replaced total by 5th column they share the same areas and as soon as you arrive the 5th column attacks and you end up in a contest to see who can kill the council faster... here's a hint in case you aren't sure in most cases the 5th column wins. So my suggestion is simple. Either put back some council mobs so we can find and defeat them OR.. revamp the task forces and do away with the mindless street hunt missions altogether. ... In most cases we wind up defeating stuff on the street that barely awards xp and inf or doesn't at all so give us a couple more door missions where we get to battle stuff our own level.. get more xp and inf and level quicker!
  21. I like the added enhancement trays..

    1. lower level toons can now accumulate up to 30 before heading to the store to sell them off for funds I want to buy the stuff I really need.

    2. I don't respec often but having the ability to save 30 IO enhancers I crafted but may not need after a respec means I can either sell them at WW for a lot more than NC soft os offering or add them to the storage bins in my base so other character I own, or other SG members, can use them.

    3. as already mentioned when crafting this means a lot less stops to either slot or store

For many of the same reasons I like the idea of added slots to salvage and recipes.

    1. I am not a huge markteer but I will test the waters with unwanted salvage or recipes. If they aren't selling for what i KNOW I can get at a store i simply sell them at the store instead but having more slots means less trips to get rid of stuff which = more time playing the game!

    2. Same as number 3 above.. if I can hold more desired salvage and recipes I don't need to stop to craft as often and don't have to wonder if i missed a chance for a PURPLE because my slots were full. I TRY to never just delete anything when I can sell it.

I can't see myself wasting any points on added vault space and I have my bases set up so the vault sits right beside the crafting table IN the same room as the enhancememnt bins. keep in mind I currently have 36 characters on virtue and my very first purchase will be 12 added slots for more characters. With the ability to email myslef just about anything these days I already have a HUGE vault system in place and with 12 more characters available, per server, it just got even larger. Sure its not as easy when you need to log one toon off and another one to get something but I'll be buying new powers, ect before I worry about adding space to my vault.

As for market slots.. I imagine the marketeers will love it but I am like the OP.. if it doesn't sell NOW I pull it, reduce the price a bit a try again. If its obvious it wont sell period.. it gets pulled and sold in a store.
  22. I like this idea and don't see the problem.. call it whatever you like I don't see a reason why the FERRY and the Smuggler ship (which at one point was actually just caller.. the ferry) can't hook up. Hey they hooked all the ferry lines in COV and the helicopter.. they ever added additionaly heliports.

The idea to make travel simpler not to agonize over a name. currently between the combined train lines and the current ferry line players can get to and from every zone fairly quickly.. except PI. No train and a ferry that only delivers you to one zone.. IP and then you get to make your way to the train to continue. Personally I either use the RWZ to get around or my Ouro portal because the ferry is inconvenient. Sort of like the submarine we can use to get from Red to blue side (Sharkshead to IP). It's easier to just use the RWZ or the Midnighter club than use that system (I never use it but even Pocket D provides more options).

So lets just do away with the Smuggler ship and call all of the the Paragon Ferry Co. with ports in IP, Talos, Striga and PI. I am trying to think of any other stops they could ADD like they did with the chopers in COV but nothing springs to mind that would mak sense or be really beneficial.. Only other zone I can think off hand with a ladge body of water is Croatoa,,, Yeah I know Crey's Folly has a lot but that just seems silly and Croatoa already has the train not to mention a midnighter's club.
  23. Okay for all the NON SG leaders that never have to deal with this .. I apologize this is more of a QOL for a select group..

Change to way we pay base rent and make it easier to accomplish. WHY you may ask.. becasue it's a little rediculous for my bases to have close to or even over 2 million , or more, in prestige sitting in an account and yet if I don't PHYSICALLY haul myself to Atlas Park and visit the SG Registar every time its due I find myself standing in front of transporters and crafting tables with no power. Last I checked the game was set in the 21st century so explain to me why I can't simply set something up to permit automatic withdrawls from my funds when the rent is due.

This gets really silly when you realize we utilize adapted Rikti technology so that if we are badly hurt we are INSTANTLY transported to a hospital or the medical facilities in our base but I can't even call the landlord (NC SOFT) on some imaginary phone and pay my rent with my creidt or debit card over the phone. Come on Devs let's get with the program here.. either its 2011 or it 1950 make up your minds! Heck even when my parents were renting they didn't have to physically get into their car and rive to the landlords office to pay the rent.. they mailed it to him. So give us a break and either just start to autodeduct or give us a way to pay from where ever we are when we log on so we don't need to run back to Altas every time the rent is due.

And before someone says.. they can't do that it would be taking our cash without checking with us first.. Keep in mind the only thing you can use prestige for is to add rooms/furniture/support equipment to the base or to pay the rent.. And once prestige is earned regardless of who earned it . it belongs to the base. No individual member gets a refund check if the quit the base and all the prestige they earned hasn't been used. No one is losing a thing and if nothing in base works becasue the power is shut off, because the rent is late, what good is having a brand new desk with a computer on it in the med bay doing anyone.

Adding to that.. there is no right or wrong way to play..

Solo or team constantly and you can still go from one level to 50

Do nothing but story arc .. fine

Do nothing but radio or newswpapers missions and safeguards or mayhems .. works very well. In fact at one point a lot of players on COV did just that.

Use task forces and trials to advance.. okay until 10 level that isn't possible but beyond that now that we have SSK ... you can eve be doing Posi 1 at level 49 and still get xp.

Farm, solo, team, whatever you enjoy and with whatever you chose to play.

Which all goes right back to Variety!
  25. A recent thread sort of jogged my memory on and old issue I'd love to see and have chatted about with others that agreed..

Change the format for conducting a respec. No i am not suggesting anything absurd like rechosing powersets.. you don't like those delete the character you made and reroll. Here is what we discussed .. currently when you do a respec as soon as you enter you are a level one and begin all over again working up to the highest level you have obtained.. With the recent change in Stamina becoming inherent for many this required rebuilding all the way to level 50. What I'd like to see is a respec that works in reverse... Okay I am a 41 level and after numerous level I realize I dislike a choice I made for a particular power back at 35. Instead of starting at level 1 and rebuilding completely can we have an option to begin at 41 and simply work backwards. This would mean that instead of deleting my entire build and starting from scratch I could simply remove my choices from 41 back to 35 and then rebuild upward from there. It's not a totally impossible procedure since it does already exist more or less.. During the current respec process if you realize you forgot something you don't need to exit completely and start over again...simply hit the reverse arrow and remove powers until you get back to where you wish to redo things. So how hard would it be to allow us to simply do that to begin with.

The results of a change like this are obviouos.. Respecs take less time and don't require memorizing or writing down the portions of your build you don't wish to alter. Players are happier with the procedure and a happy customer sticks around and continues to PLAY the game.
