Sorry I agree with Forbin and Memphis Bill. When they got rid of Galaxy and gave Atlas its face lift they also shut off all of the old contacts that used to be in city hall. That mean a 7 year vet that has absolutely no need for a tutorial of ANY kind has 2 options..

    Death from Below

or run the Tutorial and do missions that ask you to find the train station and then take a ride to king's row. Now plenty of groups form before entering the Queue but without the LFG exactly how do you propose that group of 2-4 levels looking to level their characters without running the tutorial and being bored out of their minds accesses the trial that NC Soft provided.

    /unsigned .. leave it alone

    After 2 or 3 missions like this, he paused and asked;

"Why does everyone act like missions are a race?"

I smiled at this, here I was thinking he'd PL'd on purpose, perhaps with endgame in mind. The more I probed the more I learned he had no clue the trial would rocket him past the low levels.

He ran it repeatedly because... He knew of no other way to get a team if I wasn't on. Oops.

So, I explained to him that it's not really a race mentality so much as its a 'been here done this, for years.' mindset.

He laughed and said it's all new to him. So we slowed way down, taking a more RP approach, pointing out the problem enemies, like leaving Nem Lts for last etc.

Much more enjoyable than the 'get outta the mish QUICK' mindset that us Vets are trapped in.

hehehe I know that feeling. I got a good friend to try the game about a year ago now. We team together all the time and I have been letting him lead to get used to it and so he can read the dialogue the contact has. I tend to just click and run when I lead since there isn't much I haven't seen and done and like you I am more into getting inside and having fun pounding on stuff. One night as we stood there at a contact for, to me, what seemed like ages I asked why it was taking so long... "Oh I was reading what he (the contact) had to say." I don't ask anymore I figure at some point he'll get like me and when he goes to a contact the thought will be "Yeah Yeah I know ... Nemesis did this, we need to do that, yada yada yada " .. CLICK
  4. I imagine at some point it would get to a point where it would take a couple trials to just get a single level.. but I did 4 trials in just over an hour to get my beam/Rad corr to level 14 on RED side (virtue). So I can imagine how fast teams are filling blue side. Is it possible.. Yeah I'd say it probably is but I have no desire to prove the theory.

I really can't go along with the idea of diminished returns Sam although I understand why you suggest it. When exactly do you start to dimish it.. As mentioned the trial offers four very nice buffs that a lot of players want and the fact is if you get on 4 straight 7-8 man teams by the time you have the 4th buff you are around level 14 or 15. That's not trying to power level my, or anyone else's, way to 50 its just trying to get a bonus NC Soft themselves has provided.

Fact is over the past 6 years I have seen players find one way after another to PL their way to whatever. I think it may be time to just take a deep breath, clear our heads and go play the way we enjoy playing. If there are players out there perfectly content never seeing anything but the inside of the one trial map all the way to level 50.. So be it. I'll be the one actually playing content and havig fun playing with my friends. BTW .. Founders Falls is much prettier than the sewer if you ever decide to sight see LOL

    I propose...

Since most PVPers DO NOT care about roleplaying or the storyline, we have an option upon entering a PVP zone to fight on either side. This will also help with balancing issues. Zones are always so lopsided because people generally do not have toons on both sides.

Oh gee yet another .. its all so tedious why can't I skip ahead to the stuff I like thread. I took a brand new SJ/WP brute to blue side .. ran 4 straight sewer trials.. total time involved 1 hour and 9 minutes .. departed Atlas at level 14. Hooked up with a team doing Posi 1 and 2 back to bask... total time invloved 2 hours and 4 minutes .. left TF a level 20.5. Now there was some down time in between the sewer trials and the 2 positron tfs but I went from level 1 to 20 in under 4 hours in one day. How exactly is that boring!

I am not exactly certain what your problem with alignment is to begin with.. unless you desperately feel the need to PvP from both sides a hero or a vigilante can enter any pvp zone and battle on the blue side. A villain or rogue can do the same red side. If you want a heroic Brute form PvP purposes create one and be done with it. If you plan to create that same brute blue side and then change its alignment, eventually to villain.. why didn't you just chose the villain side to begin with.

Yes it takes 2 days to change from hero to vigilante or villian to rogue and then another 2 days to cross completely from vigilante to villain or rogue to hero. On my badger I went villain to rogue to hero to vigilante to villain and finally stopped at rogue. I stayed on each long enough to earn the badge I wanted. While I was a rogue I was doing hero side TFs without access to an ouro portal that could drop me in numerous blue side zones and since I belonged to a villain sg .. no base I could use to teleport anywhere blue side either. If I can deal with that.. why should anyone give you the ability to wave a magic wand when you enter Recluse's Victory so you can be red, blue or PINK in an instant.
  7. I'm not sure what would actually make GM battles more popular... There was a small surge of interest when they attached reward merits to them but that seemed to quickly pass when players realized you gained a grand total of 2 merits per monster. (I can get more than that by collecting all of the exploration badges in Atlas Park for the accolade). The amount of xp earned per potential risk is and always has been rediculous and the only other reward is a potential high tier inspiration.. I can BUY tier 3 inspiartions with reward merits at a cost of 1 merit per 1 inspiration.

Villain side at least there is more interest because several of the GMs are tied into accolades with powers.. The Ghost of Scrapyard and Deathsurge. Hero side people do still hunt for Eochia and Jack in Croatoa because they, along with Sally, are also part of an accolade with power.

I do like your basic idea just not certain how to do it. Mandu is right and I have been around long enough to recall the days when battling lusca required 2-3 teams and could take as much as 30 minutes .. and even then there was no guarentee you'd succeed. I left one failed attempt with more than 100,000 in debt on a 20 level scrapper and that was back before patrol xp could wipe debt out over night. These days players with purpled out builds solo GMs and a 7 0r 8 man team can bring down Lusca in no time. Some of the others have become almost a joke .. my Tank helped take down Kraken in Perez Park. During the battle a zombie attack broke out in PP and we not onlt defeated the GM with one 7 man team we took out the zombies and picked up all of those badges too.. AT THE SAME TIME! lol

I am always up for a good GM battle just for the fun of it but the potential risk in battling them ahs dropped so much compared to other things I am not sure what the devs would consider a good reward.. especially since they never seemed to consider them worth much back when fighting one was a major effort.

My Necro can do 9 pets before Lore. My Thug/Trap can do 9 to 11 before Gang War or Lore. My Plant Dom could have a dozen or so depending on where I throw Creepers.
OHHh I forgot thugs and gangwar.. GW comes in really handy on a BAF I have used it during the prisoner phase and I have also saved it and given Siege and Northstar something extra to deal with during the final battle.

Good call Dispari.. yeah when the OP said he wasn't opposed to non perma pets I figured why shouldn't we add in Lore.

No.. wish i could say that was the issue but on friday we had mostly 7-8 man teams and the same thing kept happening. From what i read in response to my original post I think its a hit or miss bug and if I see it happen again I will send a bug report to Tech support and they can TRY to figure it out. Problem is if it is random.. they may take 20, 30 or more tries to get it to happen for them or it may happen the first time they try. Hey that's their problem not mine
  10. I fall into category 1... my firend and I team up on a regular basis and we took our Beam/time corruptors to First ward shortly after level 20, around 21 after doing our cape and costume missions, and stayed until we finished the last arc.

The arcs are entertaining and challenging and we enjoyed them completely. A two man team ensured us bosses to battle and EBs as well. I found it interesting, at least on a 2 man team, that they not only find a way to give you enough to battle to get the badges for all 5 of the new enemy group but we wound up with 4 or 5 badges for the groups normally found in the 1-20 content.

Occasionally we got overwhelmed by an ambush but usually we held our own and survived. One thing we loved was not a single contact had any missions outside of their arcs.. we like to sync up so that both of us get the ned bonuses and merits. While it was always a part of the overall story a few less talk to missions would have been just fine LOL Other than that I enjoyed it totally.

Funny though Crab Spider was one of the builds I was looking to trying next.

Plus, 'Pets' is one of the categories listed under character creation and they list MMs, dominators, controllers, and Soldiers of Arachnos, though their definition of 'pet' seems to be kind of loose. I mean, they do all have more pets than other ATs, but the gap is kind of wide between MMs and the other 3.

Well as long as you aren't completely set on a pet that is cast once and forgotten about .. Then definately the SoA crab.. mine has the maximum 5 from primary and secondary, 1 from patron powers and 2 more from Lore. The ONLY thing with more is an MM that uses Dark Maisma and gets a Dark Servant .. 6 from the primary, one from the secondary and two from lore for a total of 9. hehehe I also have 2 masterminds like that!
  12. Okay from that mix of replies I think its safe to assume that it isn't always happening but has happened to different people at different times.. Sounds buggy to me and next time it happens I will submit a report.

    Thanks all
  13. The title pretty much says it all but to expand a bit...

On Friday a couple of my friends from the SG and I decided to run the new Signature Story Arc. Now all three of us are 50 levels so we ran it multiple times to get the 10 threads, astral, 20 merits, and hero merit. We invited other players to join us and had several 8 man teams and a couple with 5 or 6. Players did come and go but the three of us stayed .. however at the end of each arc we ran when we called the contact the team was automatically dissolved. I don't mean the TF was over and we reverted back to 50 levels I mean it kicked everyone from the team and we had to start all over. I have never seen any other TF, SF, or Trial that did that so why is this one 3 mission TF/Arc booting us when we are done.. maybe we want to run other missions together (or the same missions again).

Well tonight another friend and I decided to do Part 1 again and grab an added 20 merits .. and as soon as we completed the third mission, stepped outside, and called the contact.. Team was gone (and there were only 2 of us). So it's happening with both part 1 and part 2 and with different players on different nights. Makes me feel like its not a fluke but a small bug.

Has anyone else noticed this occurring.. or has COH decided to try and annoy me

Seriously.. any body else seeing this same thing and does anyone KNOW why its occurring.

doing it entirely with shards to threads then making everything from that will take a VERY long time and be VERY expensive

doing only trials you can get away with not spending a single inf if you save up emps for rare/very rare components that you dont get on trials

i personally only throw inf to convert shards to threads and convert threads to xp which is ~50-100 mil per toon

Exactly! I have gone several routes while building mine... Slow and steady doing numerous trials which actually allowed me in several cases to already have the enhancers built and was able to slot to tier 3 by the time I opened up the power.

Then I tried the other route.. Opened alpha using astrals and purchased IXP and conponents..

    Okay quick break down

To open Judgement or Interface requires converting 30 threads to xp at a cost of 1 million per thread so 30 million each or a total of 60 million

Opening Destiny and Lore requires converting 45 threads each at a cost, again, of 1 million so 45 million each for a total of 90 million

To slot all 5 powers to tier 1 required 3 common components or 15 total and each components costs 20 threads so it requires 300 total.

Then to slot all 5 to tier 2 requires 1 uncommon and 2 common. So 5 uncommons and an added 10 commons total.. uncommons cost 60 threads a piece and commons we already know cost 20.... so we need another 500 threads to get all powers to tier 2.

So we need a total of 150 threads to open 4 powers plus a total of 800 threads to slot 5 powers to tier 2.. 950

Currently you can convert 10 shrads to 10 threads once every 20-24 hours at a cost of 1 million in Inf. So if you don't ever do trials and try to earn threads by doing other TFs and earning shards you need to accumulate 950 shards and over the next 95 days sell 1o at a time for a total cost of 950 million Inf. Then add in the cost to convert threads to IXP (an added 150 million) and you find yourself spending 1.1 billion just to get your character to all tier 2s.. At that point you still have not attained a single level shift...

Now realistically doing 45 - 50 level TFS will also earn you components and even Notices of the well that can cut the cost to slot your Alpha and even get you a level shift. And of course nothing says you need to wait until you have 950 shards before you start to convert them to threads so while it may take 95 days to convert that many at 10 per day you can also be earning threads at the same time.

Also don't forget that now you have the ability to earn threads (10) and an Astral by doing each of the Signature Story Arcs. Astrals covert to 4 threads so just by doing Part 1 and 2 once a week you can earn 28 threads that don't require any influence. And i am not certain as of yet on the limits but I know I was able to claim the 10 threads twice just last night running some SSAs with members of my SG so potentially you could do those two short arcs over and over and earn 40, 60, 80 threads .. how ever many you have time to grab in a day [again at no influence cost]

Then again as I mentioned WAY above.. if you have the time and the patience just do the trials and you can slot all your powers without spending a bit of influence and earn influence while you do. Roughly I estimate I have earned about a million in INF doing a single BAF on a 24 man team. So the cost can be very steep or you can actually increase your inf total while slotting.. just depends on how fast you want to be done and how much influence you have to burn.
  15. Hmmmm I guess that means I have been a Blender for YEARS since I have always taken and slotted my attacks for accuracy and damage! I haven't tried Fire yet but considering my Fire blaster has the highest DPS of any I own it seems like a good deal to me
  16. I have used both and have a 50 level blaster with AR and a corrupter currently at level 32 using Beam.

Both are good picks but I have been very impressed with the combo effects that beam can provide. Once you have used Disintegrate there are several attacks that will add to the damage znd cause it to spread to any other enemies around the affected target.

    I'm not there!

Okay like MG I understand the concept that my stuff can disappear at any time but earlier tonight I decided to log on and if nothing else see if I can find out where this new Halloween Trial is launching from. To my suprise, sort of, all the characters I had copied to test were gone. One 8 level SoA I created on test remained....

Now for the strange part I am still trying to understand. About 6 or 7 other characters from different servers, none above level 10 btw, that I had never ever copied over to test, beta or anywhere else.. many have not been played LIVE in years suddenly appear in my Test slots.

I can understand as things are upgraded my 50 (+3) level SoA crab vanished that's fine but can you explain just who at NC Soft decided to replace her with a series of low level characters I stopped playing or caring about a long time ago. I had friends coming on line from one of my SGs so I simply logged off and let it go for now but I fully intend to go in there and delete all of them. I'll buy off on the frequent patches deleting characters I want to play on test but no one is going to tel me.. "We had to delete your 50 level incarnate but here's a 4 level mastermind we thought you might enjoy playing again!"

When I'm blasting, I'm observing every situation and calculating the best avenue for attack and retreat.
When I'm blasting, I'm always on the move, repositioning for optimal cones and AoE's, using LoS to my advantage and taking the fight at my pace.
When I'm blasting, my life is always one wrong click from ending, keeping me engaged and thinking.
When I'm blasting, I'm hanging back behind the team, taking in the entire spectacle and picking mobs off endangered allies. Leveraging my burst damage where it's needed the most at that moment.
When I'm blasting, I outlive most everyone else, since I can see the bigger picture and better tell when things are about to go south.

The highs far outweigh the lows.

When I'm scrapping, I toggle on my shields, run into the mob and start mindlessly clicking attack after attack. Rinse and repeat until mob is down. Move onto next spawn without even looking. Otherwise known as scrapperlock.
When I'm scrapping, I don't even realize I have a team with me, let alone how to best approach each situation to ensure I don't get everyone ganked.
When I'm scrapping, I quickly lose interest in playing the click, click, borefest.

The lows far outweigh the highs.

    That is why I blast!

I'm not sure but I think I may not be able to add a single thing to this! LOL

Okay so if you know me at all you know that's impossible.. I started on coh with a scrapper and was used to just what is described above... Run in pound on stuff until there is no more stuff to pound on.. go find more stuff to pound on! I tried a blaster or two but was trying to play them with that same mentality and couldn't understand why I died so often. At that time no blaster I ever created made it beyond level 10.

Then I started playig defenders and controllers and learned there was more to the game than just rushung into the middle of a mob and hitting things. I developed strategies that allowed me to survive and even solo. Finally I got to a point where I had a 50 level in all of the other ATs (epics aside) and I decided it was time to give blasters another shot

My first was an AR/Dev and frankly I was probably a little too careful with her. I waas so sure she'd die if anyone looked at her wrong I never soloed her all the way to level 50. Funny thing was i enjoyed the ride. I didn't need to worry about being in melee range I could sit back and do huge amounts of damage. Unlike my Defenders or controllers no one was screaming for heals or buffs .. and I didn't have to battle my way through a crowd to do damage. I loved it!

My Arch/Ice and DP/Ice are both 50 (+3) and terrorize the IDF with attack after attack. LOL My Fire/Fire is 50 (+3) and in addition to being the blaster that deals the most damage her Destiny is slotted to tier 4 with rebirth and she now has the first badge for healing!

Blasters went from being my least favorite to my top pick for having fun in game!

Level cap seems to be 27, as I started it at 27 with my Necro/Dark Mastermind, hit 28 at the end of the 1st mission and remained exemp'ed at 27. Min level is 20 according to the market

How does it play out? Nabad, pretty fun actually and the finale, while not quite as epic as part 1, has a pretty awesome locale for the final battle. I actually ran the first SSA before I ran this, since the character hadn't done it yet. Actually what made me try if Part 2 was open was running into a Supernatural event in Skyway City. Can't describe it more than that since... well, I don't think I did it right XD But I think the new Halloween event is live. Ooor it's just a new event period >>

Mission 1 is short and just *nuts*. Just wave after wave! I don't look forward to trying to solo this with non-Masterminds, but shoouuld be plenty doable.

Mission 2, pretty quick and easy, honestly nothing much worth mentioning, waaay easier than part 2 of SSA1. In fact overall I'd say this arc is easier than 1, the only actual spots I had any trouble with were the end of mission 1 and the start of mission 3.

Mission 3... the opening map is a bit laggy, aaand it's easy to miss where to go, I spent a few minutes stumbling through, royally cheesing off all the guards XD but after that it went smoothly. The wormhole jumping is pretty cool and it was a HUGE eye boggle moment when i popped out in the final. Luckily... it's mostly a tease, but I won't spoil it. It was my first time seeing him in game so it was pretty 'omg they didn't!'. Again it ends with an Elite boss who.. I dunno, my zombies didn't have much trouble with him, bit easier than Lemkin since he had the super speed and the mass PBAoE knockback. I'm not even sure what tricks, if any, this guy has.

And the story? It's alright, kind of interesting since it involves the Midnight Club and the Rulu-shin. It really focuses on Tommy Arcanus rather than Numina, in fact, I don't think she appears at all in the whole arc. And another hook with Mr. Teller in the back of a bar and some more foreshadowing.

The Rewards table is the same as it was for SSA1.

So how does it rate? Not bad. It doesn't have quite as epic as feel as the first one, but it's got some pretty decent flavor and there aren't any flaws like the first episode had. Everything is pretty straight forward and the mobs aren't too absurd (your mileage may vary, especially mission 1. WAVES!)
Okay lets look at this mission by mission

1... very doable my 32 level SJ/WP Brute has soloed it twice, The first time he actually soloed taking out every wave before it got near the back room and the Midnighters and the second time was a breeze with the help of the Midnighters.

    2. Yeah I liked the crypt map they used but basically it was pretty simple and on my 2nd run through i answered all the Wisp's questions right and din't even get the ambush there.

    3. Biggest problem I have here is they tell you when you enter TRY not to arouse supicion. Okay by my second time I knew where the file cabinet was and what drawer to access to open the secret passage but you can't just wander back there and do that.. first you have to alert the security guards and beat some up. So much for being discreet. I enjoyed the worm hole effect as well and the EB at the end was mildly challenging one on one but In popped a few inspirations to keep my health up and he was down and out.

I have to say your level cap info seems off to me. Like I said I have run this a number of times now with some different characters. My 31 level Brute was exemplared to 30 and so was my 50 level MM. Then of course they got to continue to use power selections up to level 35.

I agree.. I do like this one better than the first and enjoy the inclusion of a new villain group. the Rulu Shin proved very interesting and I'd enjoy seeing them used more in other areas. I am just a bit curious though.. If they are a group that is devoted to Rularuu and come from the Shadow Shard .. how did they get here. Last I checked General Hammond and his men at Fire base Zulu were protecting the only known link between the Shard and our world so did these guys slip past the guards or is there a secret portal someplace else we need to be looking for so we can seal it.

I'm interested to see what we get next time
  20. Actually when you come right down to it.. They have always messed up the covert nature of Malta. Long before Malestorm or the latest deal with the Skyraiders developed we had Malta roaming the streets of Peregrine. About as covert as the Skulls hanging around and trying to break into parked cars in King's Row. Granted there aren't as many of them as there are Carnies, COT, Nemesis or Rikti but they are there and in some spots even battling other villain groups openly .. like two street gangs battling over turf.

While that looks fine and makes perfect sense in Steel Canyon where Outcast battle with Trolls or you may find a back alley with Skulls squaring off against Vahzilok... We are talking about a covert organization founded by and funded by billionaires to alter the political atmosphere of ... the nation.. the world ..... What are they doing roaming the streets looking for someone to mug!

The simple answer, not a "realistic"one based on their backstory, is that the devs needed to continue their tradition of sprinkling villains on the streets for us to deal with between running from door mission to door mission. While it makes perfect sense from the Skulls, Trolls, Outcast, Hellions and even the Freakshow to be roaming the streets causing trouble.. its completely rediculous to have Malta doing the same thing.
  21. I think the problem is depending on server and eve time of day there are a lot a TFs running that are filled with players that don't need, want or care a lick about XP. Your right it's not in limited supply but to a 20 level looking to make 22 or more and get into SOs any XP is good xp. The strange part of this whole thread is what i have experienced on Exalted. I ran Pos 1 and 2 with one team on one day and then Synapse with a different team on a different day. Now we are talking about a server loaded with vets from .. who knows what server... But one thing all those teams had in common was not a single sole was level 50 and only there for the merits etc.. and on Posi 1 we actually even cleared all of the COT outside of City Hall before going in to complete. Synapse was the same and lord knows I have done enough Synapse TFs on my way to multiple toons with TF Commander to attest to the fact that after those three straight kiils all, followed by a patrol and then another kill all.,.... Everyone is more than happy to stealth what's left and just be done!!!!!

Not this time though .. we fought our way back to defeat Bertha, Long Tom and all the rest.. we did stop short of clearing the final mission and just fought our way back to the Clockwork King and then defeated him for the TF complete.

The point is all those teams of vets wanted to level their toons and were willing to commit the time and effort required to turn just about every mission into a kill all.

Now I have done plenty of 'speed" runs on Sister P, Manticore and even the ITF and enjoyed them but perhaps the public service message should be to all team leaders..

Clearly state what you intend to do so that no one, old Vet Vip or brand new F2P, knows what to expect when they send a tell and ask to join you. After that if they start to complain.. well they just were not paying attention .. were they. As long as you have made your plans clear they have no gripe and can either just hush up and take what they get or quit the TF.

A favorite example of "I wasn't paying attanetion" was on a Lambda trial I joined a while back. the League leader made in pretty clear in avertising it would not be a speed run and then made it abundantly clear in pre que league chat that he was in this for the IXP and we would be clearing the streets, the courtyard, and the gun towers before heading inside. Its been a while but I seem to recall him even asking if anyone had a problem with that and the replies were all no its fine .. let's go! We queue'd and after about 2 mobs the Brute on one team asked .. "isn't this a speed lambda" When the OBVIOUS reply came back .. N0. He quit. lol .. moral of the story is boys and girls no matter what you do or say there will always be someone that doesn't listen to a thing and just assumes they know what is going on.

For YEARS...people would knock, piss, and moan about how fly was so ssllooww. "Why would you pick fly as a travel power over something like super speed or super jump, unless it's for concept? It's so slow it's pitiful!" and other such comments were all too common on the boards.

The devs did numerous tweaks over the years with hover and fly, such as boosting the base flight speed, bringing us closer to the cap, until eventually, you could hit the flight speed cap with little to no slotting needed. But of course..."its still too slow".

Finally, we were granted T5's for travel pools, and fly got Afterburner. A boost to flight speed that goes BEYOND the normal cap. And, with a smidge of slotting (i believe i've read that 2 flight speeds in both fly and afterburner gets you ~80-ish mph...which i just now checked with Mids...and listed like 84.9 mph).

Here comes the kicker. After the initial joy-gasm subsided..."It's not worth it...it's too slow" comments started cropping up all over the place.

I said it then...I'll say it now.

    Hello, Square One.

I belong to THIS school of thought on the new T5s. I was thrilled when my vet status finally allowed me to take a permanent travel power as low as level 6 and without taking and 2nd power.. coupled with the fitness pool becoming inherent I was able to take powers from my primary and secondary much quicker and even supliment my build with things like Hasten and combat jumping or even stuff from the leadership pool.. that made my characters tougher and able to fight harder.

Why on earth would I want to take 3 travel pool powers. I know players now that don't take ANY and simply use Ninja run coupled with prestige runs. Okay Ninja Run + Quick + 0ne IO in swift = 56.73 MPH per combat attributes. Well.. Fly with 1 IO in Fly and one IO in Swift = 58.63 MPH. but fly is too slow.. right

I'll use my power selection elsewhere thanks

I for one welcome our locked hospital doors.

I agree that the other potential ideas the Devs had that zombie described were much worse but i still question why there was some need to punish anyone for dying to begin with.

Keep in mind this decision was reached and implemented long before any of us were 50 (+3) with 4 added powers to help us survive. When the BAF and Lambda first arrived we were 50 (+1) at best battling 54s (even the minons were purple). Back then trials frequently failed because ..

    a. On the BAF no one had come up with choke point strategy yet and we tried to guard each door and have blasters or melee deal with runners.

    b. On the LAM no one knew where the glowies were located and teams would wipe trying to run around inside being shot at while they tried to find them

    c. On the BAF teams tried to concentrate on defeating the two AVs and no one dealt with Adds until they overwelmed us.

    d. On the LAM teams ran out of time on the glowie phase and were overwelmed by adds because they didn't have enough acids to close the doors.

All of these resulted in a lot of deaths and trips to the hospital.. and time and again players that wanted, and were desperately needed, to get back into the battle had to stand around at the door for 10 to 20 seconds OR more before being able to do so. I have actually spent longer in there because by the time I bought new inspirations to replace all the ones I used trying to KEEP FROM DYING I missed the opportunity to leave and had to wait an additional 20 seconds before leaving. 20 seconds doesn't sound like a long time but when things are going badly and 5 or 6 (or more) players all wind up standing at that door waiting to get out it results in 5 or 6 more taking their place in the hospital by the time they get back and before you know it ..TIMES UP!

If they really want to PENALIZE someone .. how about a new method to penalize anyone not participating.. like auto ejection if your character isn't at least moving and/or using some attack/support power after a given period of time. I was on one Lambda where an MM refused to help find acids or grenade because as he put it "I'm too squishy I just die in there"
So he stood in the courtyard the entire time waiting to pose with Maurader. Then when the rest of us completed that phase and the cut scene ended we got a mission failed because his pets managed to aggro Maurader out the front gate. I was on a 50 + 0 controller and died 3 times finding nades during that trial and ran past that guy all 3 times to get back inside and help out .. and the door is "punishing" ME!

    Level 50 emotes

I'd love to see them either able to be purchased, or as rewards at the end of a mission that is accessable to all.

LOL I have no idea to be honest other than to speculate that they promised to give us something to spend incarnate merits on and those were a part of what they came up with. I'll be honest I picked them up but rarely use either.. and then they turned right around and literally gave away Face Palm for free.. all I had to do was go to Face book and then enter the code they gave me. And I love using that one.. go figure!

I tend to agree .. the costume pieces . especially the Ascention ones should stay locked. Why they added emotes that they had to know every person in game would want after they saw them I have no idea. OKAY thats an exagerating I am sure some people could care less about emotes.

Wendy's secret.. Shhhh don't tell anyone. I think the ascention armor sucks and its the only thing left in the emp store I haven't purchased and I have no intention of wasting emps on it. HEY I can save those and buy PURPLE recipes! who cares about glowy armor!
  25. okay let me clarify. I never said I Hate any of the trials. I just have ones I enjoy and ones I can live without..

So Wendy rates the trials ..

    1. BAF.. hands down the easiest to complete successfully. Even the prisoner escape phase is down to practically a science and in most cases I leave with 5 or 6 Astrals and my Emp

    2. Lambda .. Easier to fill and recruit for because it requires less people. Faster to complete especially since most people do speed runs now and skip everything in the street. The glowie phase can be a nightmare for some squishies [defenders, contollers (some not all), blasters, etc] but at least one or more players on any team has the routes down cold now and you wind up back outside with 10 and 10 waiting to strike Maurader. Does it annoy anyone beside me, when i am on a debuffer anyway, that Maurader is like a super ball bouncing from spot to spot to spot. Yo.. dude you just drank from the well of the furies stand still and fight me .. stop running like a rabbit LOL

    3. The Underground .. the longest trial to date.. at least the ones I have been on have taken close to an hour to finish. I can do 2 BAF or 3 LAM in that same time frame. Biggest areas that drive players nuts are the lichen healed Warworks.. I was on one trial that failed because so any people were busy taking out the healers they forgot to attack the AV. lol
The hardest part is the final chamber.. Hamidon has an awesome confuse however I am looking forward to my next run.. Everyone knows to pack clarion now And I got some great advice.. Hamidon's confuse is a forward cone.. get behind him and it does nothing and you can concentrate on killing him.

    4. Keyes .. my least popular and the one i see recruiting for the least. problems with it are simple. A constant source of damage that you have absolutely no way to shut off. A set up that has you collect temps and then .. requires you to actually bring the AV to the spot where you want to use the temp. Don't attack the AV, even though he will probably attack you, cause the more you do damage to him the stronger that damaging pulse gets! Now they do give you plenty of time to complete each reactor phase.. added time is necessary since so many players need the time to run back from the hospital again and again. then you hit the final phase and Anti-Matter can obliterate you with one shot if you are in the wrong place at the wrong time.. which increases his health. And he can, and does, freeze time and heal while the entire league dangles in mid air.

Now.. I can't say how many successful BAF and LAMs i have been on I lost track a long time ago but I have done 7 Keyes trials and succeeded 6 of 7 times. the only failure was when we ran out of time trying to defeat Anti-Matter. To date I have done 3 Underground trials and enjoyed all of them. Only one was a success but we got to the final chamber and fought hamidon on the second and the third died mainly because too many people were attacking the healing lichen and almost no one was battling the AV. hehehe

I will run BAFs or LAM anytime and have no problem with the UG as long as I have enough time. BUT I gave up on the Keyes.. Last time I was even near one a leader advertised he was recruiting for a BAF so i sent a tell and joined and then at the last minute decided to do a Keyes instead. When I arrived on Keyes Island I QUIT the team and went back to the rwz and found a BAF.. funny thing is apparently I wasn't the only player that was unhappy 4 or 5 players that were on that same league that found itself facing keyes were on that same BAF run with me. THEY All quit!

The door issue is a minor annoyance.. now if it left the game tomorrow I'd be perfectly happy. I think what really bugs me most is that message you get when you click the door.. you know the one that makes it sound like they are trying to protect you. "Hey its really dangerous out there. maybe you should stay in here for say ohhhh 20 seconds"

"HEY if you were so dang worried about my health why did you send me to attack a facility with cannons on the walls, and a ton of troops guarding it, and an AV in charge that hits like a freight train in the first place! I'm a big girl and I have super powers. Now open the &%$@ door and let me do my job!" lol
