For example, the "Defeat Security Chief And His Men" missions on Manti are on gigantic maps that can take upwards of an hour to clear if you kill everything. Stealthing to the Named Boss (if not to TP the team then at least to locate him) does not make it a speed run, it makes it an "I don't have 4 hours to dedicate to this TF" run.

A lot of the old TF content is like this (don't let's get started on the Shadow Shard TFs ) and so even for new players it's often beneficial to run them in an "optimal" way, that isn't speed running. *Explaining* this to new players goes a long way towards helping the situation.

That said, if you're doing a "real" Speed Run, say so upfront.

Ahh a voice of reason.. The OP is not referring to the classic "Speed Run" you see on an ITF where the Brute/tank run ahead ignoring everything attacking them and destroy crystals in mission 2. then jump from General to General on mission 3 and I have even seen ones where they aggroed Romulus and Requieum while we were still trying to take out the Phallanx control. He's talking about using stealth to shorten a few missions to lower the required time to under 2 hours. Almost every single one of the old TFs has a number of defeat alls that offer up plenty of xp. The worst being Synapse with its 3 straight defeat alls followed by a patrol and then a 4th defeat all before anyone sees a single mission they can use stealth on to shorten. Here's another little tip... there is absolutely nothing that says just because you have someone stealthing ahead its a requirement to sit like a lump at the front door doing nothing. On a recent Manticore TF while the stalker was searching for Security chief Manning the rest of us started attacking mobs.. By the time our objective was located and we were all teleported into position to get a mission complete ... we'd cleared 3 floors.

Speaking as someone who has, as mentioned in the quote, spent several HOURS laboring to complete Doc Q in the Shard.. I do NOT mind one bit if we skip a little xp so I can go do something else. LOL

    VERY VERY true..

    1. The Winter Lord is a GM and the one inside the Winter Realm is even tougher than the one that appears in city zones. Last year I was on 8 man teams that failed because we didn't have the right mix and/or fire power to succeed.

    2. Just like Death from Below and Dr. Kane's Trial there is still absolutely nothing stopping players from forming a team prior to entering the queue so, HEAVEN FORBID, they don't need to team with unknown players and possibly make new friends!

    3. The term "Forced Teaming" is misleading... No one is forcing anyone to run any particular mission in this game. The game is actually designed to allow you to, somewhat, pick and chose what you enjoy or feel your character can handle.

The reality is players WANT to run thing like the Winter Realm because of the potential rewards. Well if you want the rewards then you NEED to play by the rules. If the rules require an 8, 10 or 12 man team to accomplish said task.. you FORM an 8, 10 or 12 man team!

That's because Air Supremacy is a decent attack. I have it on several of my tanks to add another attack. It does decent damage and has the added benefit of knockdown.... which of course slows the attack rate of whatever is in your face.

Also don't be so quick to dismiss Recall Foe. While not used as much as Recall friend this does come in handy for thinning out mobs that are close together before a team launches an attack. (this part is to the OP not you Tenzhi ).

I agree with you on slotting .. I have played long enough that I can skip any additional powers and just take Fly, SS, ect. So along with now getting stamina without the need to take 2 other powers I never slot I have 3 power choices I never got to take until after level 20. Many of my characters don't see triple damage slots, or whatever until the 30s now because I get powers quicker but because I have so many I want to make better I can max anything out before then. I have actually taken to grabbing things like hasten (one recharge reduction and done) and Recall Friend (again one recharge) so I can use a few slots here and there to improve my primary and secondary attacks faster.

Ohhh I hate that mission! Your sort of right but the idea is not to allow a total of 30 to get through the portal. With a full sized (8 man) team there are more than 30 on the map.. but they will all eventually headtoward the portal... If the only requirement was stop 30 from escaping when you solo.. kill 4 or 5 and you'd be done. BUT.. the mission won't end until every single mob slowly lumbers to the portal. I sped up the process once with a scrapper by ignoring guarding the gate completely and just racing around the map killing everything I could. I think about 7 or 8 escaped before I cleared the map for a mission complete!!

When I hunt them I usually go to Talos, as Snow suggested, You'll usually see a good number of them around the warehouses near the gate to Skyway. They also seem to have a strange habit of hanging out on the same street as the Police Station in Talos and at times you can find Scor. North and South of the entrance to the PPD. They can appear anywhere but I have never failed to find them in those locations and if you start to hunt them in those areas youo can usually get the game mechanics to spawn them faster. Good hunting

The only attempt that I have ever made at Pither's missions was on my main/badge/souvenir hunter. This was some time around I14. I had heard of the Efficiency Expert badge and wanted to make a run at it. Was looking forward to it as a challenge.

He's a stalker. He got his first mission, which was Wipe out the Council Base. So, as a stalker, he snuck in, found the bomb and set it.

Nothing. No end of mission. No success. No mention in the mission objectives that there was anything else to do. Just nothing. So he goes running back the other way, killing everything he finds in a fit of pique.

He gets back to the front door. It's right there, he can see it , almost touch it.

    Only three guys left.

AS...one down. Tear into the second. The guy has a sliver of health left and the time runs out. LOAD SCREEN!!

    What a crock....

It is never stated in the mission brief or on the objectives that this mission is a Defeat All. If I had even an inkling that he had to defeat everyone in the mission, I would not have wasted half my time searching the base for the bomb. He would have just casually gone in and set about killing everyone. When he found the bomb, he would have set it as an "Oh, by the Way, let's blow the place up for good measure"

I haven't even looked at Pither since. Not on this toon, not on any other. When friends suggest "Hey I have this new contact named Pither. Wanna run his arc?", I politely reply in the negative. If they insist, I go find something else to do.

But, if there is even a chance to still get the badge, I might take another look.

Okay I logged on and checked the missions available between 45-50. The only missions listed from Pither are those attached to his arc.. Alone in the Darque. The problem with trying to obtain the badge through flashback, if you failed it the first try, is none of the missions required to obtain it are linked in an arc and it is necessary to successfully complete all but the 15:00 minute long "Steal Forumal from Crey".

It's basically a race against time to determine that you CAN complete all the assigned tasks in the short span of time Pithers allows.. Making you a true Effeciency Expert.

Now while I can understand your issue .. what part of Wipe Out the Council Base didn't you understand. Even the Wiki http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Efficiency_Expert_Pither states that while it is never a stated objective to succeed you are required to defeat all mobs. Didn't the title give you a clue at all... If all you needed to do was set off a bomb they would have, could have/should have, named it BLOW UP the Council Base. There are very few missions anywhere in game that make it as simple as findthe glowie, click the glowie, move on! .. notable exception the Get the data from the Crey Facility mission on the Manticore TF where it is possible for someone with stealth to locate and click the computer for a mission complete. Realistically I agree with you that since its a requirement for a badge they should make it clear what is required to be successful... Especially since there is no way to redo it if you fail. I can't confirmor deny it but the wiki states that you can't even join anyone else that has Pither as a contact and do the timed missions with them to earn the badge .. it has to be YOUR missions or all you are there for is support... Like Snow I soloed those missions to limit mob size and maximize my chances to succeeed. In my case when I did it I was still leveling my badger and wiped out all the mobs enroute to the bomb for the xp.

As Snow mentioned at this time the only other badge mission I know of that can't be done via flashback is Negotiator... I think the problem is that while it is possible to be given the mission by several different contacts if you do it normally... Maurice Feldon shows as the contact when you access the mission via flashback and no one bothered to move Maurice out of Galaxy City when issue 21 hit. Galaxy City remains as an echo but can't be accessed normally and since its impossible to reach the contact when the mission is complete.. you constantly get a message stating the mission can't be accessed at this time.. hopefully they will fix this soon .. should be as simple as switching the designated contact to either Paula Dempsey (KR) or Tony Kord (Atlas) since eother of them are still reachable.

Oh and just to clarify .. if you haven't been to the Echo of Galaxy none of the old contacts that used to be there exist .. at least not in Galaxy. I guess because Paula and Tony gave out the exact same set of missions someone decided maurice wasn't needed any morebut they forgot to remove him as THE point of contact for the Flashback!!!!!
  9. Girl Scout cookies .. The MMORPG. Create your character and race against time and other players to sell the most boxes and win the badge for highest sales. Bonus points for talking a rich relative into buying 100 boxes or more just to pad your totals. No holds barred PvP zones where your character can compete against others to reach the most houses on a city block and sell the most boxes! As you increase in levels parental units with jobs can be added to sell boxes at work! Oh god I just flashed back to those days .. NEVER again LOL
  10. Doc Kane's trial was a lot of fun and I enjoyed the design of the haunted mansion. It doesn't take long to complete and you get to battle 2 different monsters in addition to a host of ghouls along the way.

I remember wondering how the new league system would affect ToTing and was amazed to see 48 man leagues in PI. They usually set up at the motel right across the street from the hospital which was an excellent location.. Lots of doors and with the hosp so close.. die and don't wait for rez just reappear acrosss the street. Not to mention being able to resupply inspiration thru the combat nurse!

Zombie invasions and Banner events were back but then we see those year round now but they tended to occur much more frequently over the past 2 weeks. Eochia and Jack were back roaming although I really can't say how often Jack spawned.. most of my characters had those badges and my new SJ/WP Brute got extremely lucky .. got invited to battle Eochia in PI and within seconds after the team defeated him... Jack appeared. Moments after Jack went down Eochia spawned again and I had the badge for the unseely court. Apparently that one spot of Monket Island was "the" designated spawn point.

And of course the Halloween tip mission from last year was back as well giving anyone that wanted a chance at 6 badges and acostume piece. It seems like this event is a Dev's favorite.. they just keep adding to it year after year and making it bigger and bigger. I had a great time
  11. And with as much content as we have now its tripled in the past year or so... With the addition of Praetotian content from level 1-30 now and the ability for any hero or villian to go to Pocket D and cross over all of that content can be accessed, on teams, by any player that has purchased Going Rogue. Add in the fact that a Vigilante or Rogue has the ability to cross over and team up, at any level, and run Red or Bliue content.

Essentially every Task Force, Strike Force, Trial and conatct mission is available to any player as long as they can find a team. I have had characters that did 5 newpaper missions and robber the bank Founder's Fall and then turned right around and did 5 radio missions and prevented the bank in FF from being robbed in the same night!

Heck even the special events have grown in size.. I can recall when you got to ToT and battle Eochia and Jack. Now we still have that but add in Banner event, which run all year long as well; zombie invasions, also running through out the year; The Malleus Mundi tip missions, which started last year and are back; and the new Dr. Zane haunted mansion trial that began this year. Of course the Winter event expanded as well.. Used to be we just went and opened packages and battled the occasional Winter Lord along with battling Snaptooth to rescue Baby New Year. Now we have missions to battle the Winter Lord in his own realm and can take out Lady Winter instead of Snaptooth or in addition to battling the Red Cap version of Scrooge!

Truthfully .. it isn't possible to do every single bit of content before hitting 50.. and that was before we could switch sides. And they continue to give us more to do.

Mind you we don't have as much to do these days.. Raptor packs sort of replaced us. But on virtue we still get together every Friday evening and run TFs. Trials or just missions and always invite along others. You'd be amazed how fast a TF can go when you have 2-3 or more players with the ability to stealth and tp the entire team

How about you stop being such an elitist tool and accept the fact that not everyone is going to be at the same level of competence? And also the fact that even with a test people STILL are going to ignore what the trial leader is saying.

If your suggestion is implemented, all that effort the devs have gone through to entice players into the trials will be undone. No one is going to take a 3 part test that you are required to pass in order to take part in OPTIONAL content.

Dumbest suggestion I've seen lately, G'day.
I'll chime in here and totally agree with ClawsandEffect. Long before we institute a test to decide if a player is competent to join a trial we need one to determine if a player is ready and able to LEAD one (this next part is strictly sarcasm .. you have been warned)

Has leader ever successfully even participated in the trial being formed.

Does the leader know the various successful techniques currently being used to complete the trial being formed and are they capable of briefing new trial participants on how these work [special note.. the use of the phrase.. "just follow everyone else and do what they do" does not count as a briefing!]

Is the potential leader known to have a history of rage quits... [clarification.. things aren't going exactly the way I thought they would and team mates are dying. POOF I quit the league Good Luck!]

Is the leader able to communicate their instructions without THE NEED TO CAPITALIZE EVERYTHINGS!!!!!!!

LOL now I play on virtue and trials run day and night but even on one of the busiest servers in game there are times when traffic is light and finding 16 or 24 players available and ready to run a trial can take a good deal of time. You want to make that process even longer by requiring players to pass some TEST before they can join one. And I have seen posts here from players on less populated servers describing long and frustrating waits building a league. /unsigned

Ahhh the "Good Ole" Days back when...

Stamina wasn't inherant and between having to wait till 14 and take an added power before getting a travel power you also had to take 2 powers from fitness to obtain STAMINA at 20. Which generally mean between levels 12 and 20 you took absolutely no powers from your primary or secondary!

The Positron Task Force was only slightly shorter than Doc Q, ran you all over multiple zones (without travel powers) and usually required 2 days to complete.

There was no such thing as Invention Origin or Wentworths and Single Origins were the sought after enhancement in game (at least until later 40s when you could head to the hive and battle to obtain Hami-Os. A time when telling someone your character posssessed 1 million in INF was highly impressive and players in their 30s were still buying Double Origin and Training origin enhancers just to have SOMETHING in the slots!

Ahhhh .. back before vet rewards when the only way to respec your character if you messed up was to wait till level 24 and go run a respec trial.

There were no radio or newspaper missions and the ONLY way to level, outside of street hunting, was to run missions from contacts.. contacts that almost always sent you off to another zone to zomplete their tasks .. then you ran back so they could send you off to another zone on the next one! [special note .. see part about no travel powers before 14 above. Run here means ... RUN and usually through areas with street villains conning purple]

Ahhh a real good one .. Back when people begged to join SGs because they had teleporters that could get you to other zones faster!

and here's one that isnt even very old.. Back when you had to wait until 25 level to obtain an Ouroborus Portal and use it as another means to transport quicker.

lol Okay now for something more on the topic of the thread. I have seen but have yet to try this new feature... does seem like it would make it simpler to gain access to a new contact and begin running their missions.
  15. I don't think anyone really hates the Underground Trial I just think it gets less play because you have to have the time available on line to play it. I have been on BAFs or Lambdas that were over in less than 30 minutes while the UG requires at the very least a solid hour. I enjoy it but I don't see people recruiting for it as often as BAF/LAM and I know it for that reason.. TIME

Keyes.. I agree with others who have commented here.. I have done 6 and 5 were successful and I still do NOT enjoy it. Even my strongest characters with maxed HP and defenses die during that thing and I refuse to even think about taking my squishies in there. I'm sorry I don't mind a challenge but in case the Devs, or anyone else, hasn't figured it out yet... No one enjoys spending more time face down on the floor or in the hospital waiting on that IDIOTIC door to let you back out. people come to PLAY a game not to play dead. And the claims that all you need are some good tier 3 inspirations are BS.. I went in with NOTHING but tier 3s on one occasion and before we had finished the second reactor I was in the hospital buying teir 1s to replace them cause they were all gone.

I am completely oppossed to the idea of eliminating Emp rewards from the BAF and LAM. There is still enough of a challenge there to justify the reward. And I seriously dislike the idea of paying for those new trees with emps... the excuse that they didn't think people would horde them or grind for so many so quick holds no weight at all.. Have you all been asleep the past few years and not seen players grinding through speed TFs for reward merits or finding ways to create AE stories that maximize the number of tickets earned. As soon as you crate a new form of game "currency" someone immediately starts working on ways to get as much of it as fast as they can. I don't have a huge amount on any character but the ones I have are being saved for one purpose.. to use when NEW powers emerge so I can get them quicker. So what do we get with this new issue.. Not new powers just more options for ones we already have and a propsed FEE to even open them. Then we are all supposed to grind more to get the threads and components we need to build our way up the tree again.. I have 19 incarnates now and all but 2 of them have either teir 3 or tier 4s in all 5 powers.. Yeah I REALLY want to start over and build my way back up to those levels for .. from what I saw weren't any better options than the ones we already have.

But. That's the thing though. Low level. If we are in fact considering this low level, say 1-10, then it's being used for well (WELL) beyond that. A single low level event should not be this repeatable for so much easy, powerful leveling. I just think the XP gains could be tweaked to stop giving so much earlier on or being worth for the XP *once*. I think it's distorting to see such an easy and short event that allows for such a rocket in levels. Some like it, yes, because it's easy. As has been said elsewhere, many times over, people will flock to the shortest, easiest path to success.

Ideally, I'd like to see trials for every 10 level ranges or so. So, 1-10, people do the Sewer Trial. Levels 11-20, let's say a Clockwork warehouse rush. 21-30, tomb raiding to stop a ritual. Etc. If someone wants to take their character and level purely through trials, sure, but I'd like to see it be more than a single, low level trial. People are using it for much more than low level content. They're not just bypassing the new Atlas Bottleneck, they're skipping straight past King's Row, The Hollows, Steel Canyon, Faultline, and even Talos and beyond. That's just ridiculous.

Forbin is correct. Sadly people looking for a quick ride to whatever level is nothing new at all. I can recall a Double XP weekend a few years back where on Sunday evening (last night of the event) there were more characters below 20 in PI than there were above 40 (you know .. the levels the zone is designed for). Back then we didn't even have SSK so the posts in broadcast that night included low levels willing to pay almost anything, per run, to get as many levels as possible before the event ended, Farmers advertising their farm and the rates they expected if you wanted to join and players willing to serve as mentors for a price .. in short it looked a lot more like a bordello than a game revolving around courageous "RIGHTEOUS" super heroes.

That of course gave way to AE farms and the "I made it from level 1 to level 50 in 2 hours" bragging.

Now I personally have created a few (3 to be exact) characters recently and each one has used the Death from Below trial. I run 4 of them to take advantage of the 4 available buffs (Damage, Accuracy, Recharge, and Defense) and then move on. Is it fast.. yes my Brute got on an 8 man team that managed 4 trials in 1 hour and 5 minutes (including brief times in between to recruit when members left). At the end the Brute was a level 14 and was almost half way to 15. But the higher you get the slower it is to level .. Sure at level 2 when I did the first trail I emerged a level 6 and by the end of trial 2 I was a 10 or 11 level.. but over those next 2 trials I managed only 3 more levels. The fact is despite team size the mobs remain a constant..Join a 4 man team or an 8 man one and still you face a series of 11 man mobs all the way through. So there is only so much xp to be earned and the higher your level the MORE you need to attain the next. I have to imagine that at some point it starts requiring multiple trials just to attain a single level.

The advantage, so to speak, is no travel time at all.. heck you could technically hang out right next to Ms. Liberty and train, if required, as fast as you come out and of course there are trainers inside that allow your character to train up before even enterig the next portion of the trial itself.

The fact is since the game began or shortly afterwards some players have been finding ways to skip what is considered normal and rocket through levels .. Nerfing the trial will only accomplish two things..

Punishing anyone, like me, that isn't trying to make it to 50 without leaving Atlas Park and just really wants the added advantage of those 4 buffs

or sending everyone scurrying back to AE to build more PL farms

At some point we just have to take a deep breath and let it pass.. otherwise what's the next suggestion diminishing returns on ToTing.. Head to PI and watch the ToT leagues as they form ... Half the members, me included, are well below level 40 and have come there not just to collect salvage and badges but to grab levels quickly. The problem is .. PI seems to be ToT central this year. I have seen a few ToT teams/leagues elsewhere but there have been at least 2 Peregrin Islands since the event began and it seems like everyone is just headed there to get their badges and free costumes. Last night I arrived in PI a level 37 with 2 bars to go for 38 and in about 90 minutes I emerged a level 39... with all of my halloween badges and a Halloween tip mission.

But it does contain a number of missions designed solely to tutor new players on game mechanics. I ran it on Beta and compared to the skimpy amount of tutoring we used to get I applaud the new set up. That said how many long time vets with years in game get frustrated when the are trying to get missions from contacts and for the 999th time have to run to king row and talk to the field rep so she can explain AGAIN how to change the difficulty you play at. Or roll their eyes in disgust when a contact send them off to speak to a PvP zone rep. YES we are all aware the game includes PvP and having played for 6 years I am quite familiar with the zones and where the entrances are.. can I please just get a mission and play the game!

See the point .. A 7 year vet, 6 year vet or what ever that has multiple 50 levels and has done pretty much all the available content in game at least once or more doesn't need or want missions that award no xp and require them to run around Atlas finding things on the map like .. the Police Station, Wentworths, the Hospital and getting a detailed speech from a signature hero on what these are and how they all work. They may sit through it once but as new power sets emerge and they create new characters they want something else.. that something else is Death from Below... or farming in the AE. Now technically running back to back to back to back trials is just as much farming as those ones in the AE that tend to bend if not break the rules ot the TOS.... but the difference is its legal. NC Soft created the trial and encourages multiple runs by offering 4 different buffs. The only other possible solution is street fighting in Atlas or sidekicking to someone higher up and running like made from the zone and all of it.

This does give me an idea for completing the final part and defeating 99 zombies.. At 29 level any MM will have all 6 available pets.. so 3 MMs and a tank/Brute to hold the Abomination's aggro. Three masterminds and 18 pets running through the graves should spawn zombies quick and have plenty of fire power to defeat them. The between secondary buffs, debuffs, ect the 4 man team should be able to easily defeat the AV and get badge number 3.

I think that's probably doable One trial I did we lost a member to RL and the trial did not auto end like some of the Incarnate ones... Find three friends willing to join long enough to get you inside and then quit and you are off and running solo .. don't hate me if this strategy doesn't work we were more than half way through when the guy had to quit and may have just completed before the thing had time to decide we did "Not have enough members to continue".
  20. No I don't think you were a jerk at all i think you ran into one. First of all this so called expert on the trial didn't take the needs or desires of anyone else on the team into consideration.. For all he knew the other 2 members of your team could have been doing it for the very first time and wanted to see and experience the mansion. It is a pretty cool layout and I enjoyed the feel of the place ... Nice job art department

Second he didn't take into account that maybe, just maybe, the other members of your team would have liked to have had all that xp he had you all rush past to get to the end .. because all he wanted was a badge he had yet to acquire.

Then third... for all his claims he obviously didn't know how to get the badge to begin with................

    1. Drag AV into grave yard so that all 4 team mates are spawning zombies .. [zombie spawn by players running over top of the graves]

    2. Tank, Brute or whatever concentrates on keeping aggro on AV while the rest kill zombie in place.. not pull them to the AV. [When the abomination raises its foot you do not want to be within range of the attack. Its similar to the Nova Strike Maurader has on the Lambda trial and can leave almost any character with no hit points]

    3. Use your AoE attacks to damage both the zombies and the AV. [very hard to do if your pulling zombies to the AV.. Very easy if its already in the graveyard and zombies are spawning around it]

He wasted a ton of time that you needed to succeed and then had the nerve to insult the rest of the team for being lame [in HIS opinion] I'd not only have quit his team .. I'd have one starred him and put him on global ignore so I never had to deal with him again.

So these guys are probably scraping the upper limit.

I still like them this way.
Ahh well see that makes sense but if they are scraping the limit ..they are just under it because we didn't have a bit of trouble fighting and defeating them. I was on my Street Justice Brute so I can't confirm the one comment here about huge weapons but I don't recall seeing any 3 story high arrows or anything else bizarre other that a really really big villian to fight.

Obviously .. I like em too

Why don't they work Guy.. I have seen other threads here where people have been begging to battle giants and supposedly, at least according to other posters NOT any Devs, it wasn't possible. Suddenly we have giants attacking and we get to battle and defeat them. If its a bug it will probably get fixed eventually If not its another case of the devs taking note of a request made here and giving players what they asked for.. GIANTS

Now the first time I saw and battled the new larger Nightmares I wasn't on a team I was part of a three team league that not only was dealing with the zombie invasion..they were still clicking doors and ToTing. I didn't see any significant increase in lag during all that so what is it hurting to have them that big. I also have yet to hear a negative comment concerning the new size, other than here, in game but have seen numerous comments from other players that enjoyed fighting something that towered over top of buildings.

I say let the Giants live!

Not really Bubbawheat. the first trials went live, as Snow shows, on April 5th thats more than 28 weeks ago or about 200 days ago as of Saturday October 22nd. If a player only did one BAF and one LAM a day and played every day they'd have been on 400 trials. Now consider that a LOT of us did much much more than just 1 each a day until we got Judgement, Interface, Lore and Destiny open ad slotted. Granted now all my incarnates have tier 3 or tier 4 enhancers in every slot so I am down to doing just enough trials to get empyreans and not even on every character every day.. I have 18 incarnates. I haven't kept track but I'd venture a guess and say i have done well over 600 trials. LOL and on Virtue I know for a fact i am no where near the top of the list in trials completed.. There are players that do all 4 trials on a character, alt and start all over again .. every single day. heck for the past week I think I did maybe 4 trials.. been playing with me Street Justice Brute and my Beam Weapon/Time manip corruptor.
  24. I for one welcome our new Nightmare overseers and sincerely hope they plan to allow those of us willing to grovel at their HUGE feet serve them while the rest of you are eaten. LOL

Great pics .. I have tried twice now to get a screen shot of them and keep missing it. When they first showed up I happened to acquire one as my next target while I was turned away ... My eyes had to be popping when my character turned and all I saw was BOOT (that's boot not boots)

Tonight I was trying to explain it to an SG member and did say they were HUGE. We did the Dr. Zane Tf and arrived in PI just as a zombie invasion was ending and I saw in all caps .. HOLY CRAP he has just seen his first new and improved Nightmare LOL no idea if this was intentional or a bug but I think it is cool.
  25. Okay for the record ...

It is absolutely possible to build your own team and enter the queue to do Dr. Kane's Halloween Trial. Two nights ago along with three friends we formed a team, tot'd to get the necessary costumes, and then entered the queue as a 4 man team and arrived INTACT at the stairs leading to the haunted mansion. Example two.. tonight along with two other sg mates we entered the queue and the LFG assigned us a 4th member.

it is possible to earn all three badges .. however I would strongly suggest building a team and queuing to get "It's Alive" (the badge for defeating 99 zombies and the Abomination within 12 minutes. I have been on three attempts at this and one was a success.

The successful team consisted of a tank, 2 brutes and a defender with heals and buffs. We pulled the abomination into the graves so that all 4 of us were running over top of them and spawning the zombies and while the tank held aggro and did some damage to the AV the rest of us killed zombies as fast as possible.. we completed with about 1 minute to spare.

Attempt 2 was with my SG mates.... A Warshade (me), a brute, a blaster and a defender with good debuffs (rad/rad). My warshade acted as tank while the others spawned and defeated zombies. We had some minor communication problems to start .. I was trying to pull the AV into the graves and th brute was attacking. Once we got that straightened out all 4 of us were in the graveyard spawning zombies. We did manage to defeat 99 but with only 4 attacks my Warshade only had the AV down to about 45% and we ran out of time before we defeated.... We did defeat it about 1 minute later so if we hadn't had that slight mix up at the start i'd be 2 for 3.

Attempt number 3 was just awful.. my friend and i joined the queue and teamed with two unknown players. We were both on our Beam weapon/time corruptors and I can't honestly recall what the others had.. One was a melee character. The melee player was obviously only interested in one thing. getting to the end and trying for the third badge (again). He raced ahead of the rest of us probably hoping to bi-pass everything else and att us to the end. Problem was he wasn't that strong and died and had to hit the hospital. The three of us continued to work our way through the mansion and he joined us and then asked to try for the third badge. Having already completed it with my friends i explained the strategy we used that worked and we agreed to give it a try. Suprisingly the melee player did a decent job of keeping the AV off of us but never did manage to pull it injto the graveyard and with only 3 of us spawning zombie we simply ran out of time with about 90 defeated.. then defeated the AV to complete the trial

So suggestions based on what I have seen to earn all three badges...

Form a team don't expect to do it with a PUG . not saying it isn't possible but the drawback with the LFG is you don't know what you get till your inside. You need someone, tank, brute, WS, PB.. whatever to aggro the Abomination.

Pull the AV into the graves so the entire team can spawn zombies. may not even be a bad idea to stay fairly close to the AV while zombie hunting so any AoE attacks can damage the zombies and the monster. what am I saying MAY BE.. if you have AoE attacks be as close to the monster as you can killing zombies and damaging it at the same time

Have your strategy mapped out before you chat with Dr. Kane. Once the timer starts you need to be very quiet and just keep killing zombies to succeeed. if your a couple minutes in and still working out who doeas what.. you failed.

As part of your plan make sure everyone knows as soon as you have 99 zombies dead.. I don't care if there are 20 still running around everyone needs to concentrate all damage on the AV. Debuff it with anything you can and just keep firing until you either see mission complete or Time ran out on It's Alive Badge.

and finally, since one of my SG mates missed me briefing this, RELAX. Even if you fail to earn the badge you can still defeat the AV. earn a reward and get a mission complete. This is not an Incarnate trial and if the timer runs out you fail! You just have to go back and try again and kill zombies faster!

The problem I see on this thread isn't that this is impossible but that it's not as simple as step inside, pound on stuff, walk away with badge!

Now to speculate a bit .. someone asked why level 29 and when i joined the trial for the first time that thought crossed my mind as well. how is this for a potential aswer... by auto exemplaring everyone down, or up, to level 29 they accomplish one thing. Through SSK even a 5o level will keep 5 added levels of powers or they have acces to everything up to level 34. Since epic powers now become available as low as 35 that means the trial is designed to be completed with no help from the epic power pool. Now granted I am not an NC Soft Dev and have no clue as to their actual reasoning bjut this seems to make more sense than.. "they pulled a number out of a hat!".

Why 4 players as a minimum and a mximum.. I don;t have a clue. Why 12 players mimum and 24 max for a BAF, Keyes or UG. Why 8 minimum and 16 max for a Lambda. Why can 3 people run a Positron One or two TF but you are required to have 8 to start a Statesman TF. How about because that's how they decided to do it and since they are the one's designing the game we, as players, have to adapt and deal with it. maybe just maybe they wanted to make it fun but still a bit of a challenge if your going for that third badge. Sure if I take an 8 man team inside I can kill off 99 zombies and the AV in 12 minutes..

99 / 7 = 14.14 zombies per player (aside from your tank) in 12 minutes or .. 1.17 zombies per minute If it takes you more than a minute to kill one of those zombies you need to re-examine your build.

99/3 -- 33.0 zombies per player (again aside from your tank, brute whatever) in 12 minutes. Now you need to kill 2.75 zombie per man per minute. Doable but if you all take 12 minutes to defeat the zombie yor tank better be able to defeat the AV SOLO. So lets adjust those figures a bit.

99/7 = 14.14 in 8 minutes (so we have time left to defeat the AV) We still only need to defeat 1.75 zombies per player over that 8 minute period so we have 4 to concentrate all attacks on the AV. That's under 2 zombie a minute so unless your build, sorry but, sucks that's not hard at all.

99/3 = 33 in 8 minutes means we now need each player to defeat 4.125 zombie every minute. THAT's more of a challenge but with AoE attacks and some good players its still doable.. (see my breakdown on attempt number one if you don't think so).

As I recall and its been brought up on the forums constantly people used to complain that the Stateman TF and Lord Recluse SF were too hard until they discovered the strategies that worked and then, even before Incarnate powers made them both easier, players were completing them all the time. When the ITF arrived players weer on the forums screaming about how hard it was to complete. I cant recall the last time i was on an ITF that failed. You have two weeks .. and if the thing is popular it will undoutably return next halloween.. get some friends together and experiment until you find a strategy that works and then exploit it. It's the way we do things here!!!!!!!
