Until I started reading the data collection thread about the recipe drops, I never thought the issue was more than just a perception issue with the players. They assumed that being able to raise the amount of mobs or their difficulty would also increase their drop rate, compared to running on a team, without anyone really saying anything one way or the other about how the system would or wouldn't affect the rates. They looked at what was in their drop inventories, and thought there was a nerf when it was really their false hope that made them think there should be more than they got.

I'm still leaning that way, especially when Synapse has come out and said that to him, nothing is out of the ordinary, or at least, he can't reproduce what the players are telling him what's going on. I still say people are expecting something that was never meant to happen, specifically that the recipe drops would increase as the artificial team size went up.

You won't notice anything different if you're solo and haven't adjusted the perceived team number, or if you've got actual teammates. People running solo with their diff set on anything higher than the default are seeing way less recipes (salvage and inspirations are dropping fine) than they should.
  7. Just a quick observation, but it seems, outside of a couple of people, everyone is testing drop rates with their diff set at +8 team. For completeness' sake, are we making sure that the other settings are getting looked at as well? It may or may not make a difference, but it might also point Synapse in the right direction if certain settings were giving odd numbers and others weren't.

Shouldn't purples be in their own pool, since they have a very narrow drop window?

There's too much old content to revisit, and a lot of beta invitees aren't interested in doing anything but checking the new shineys. Until we get more folks into betas that are actually interested in doing what they're asked to do, instead of doing what they want to do, we'll be finding interesting new bugs like the Hess and Katie bugs.
  10. Are we counting the time from when Hami spawns, or when the GM hunt starts, cause it sure seemed longer than that.

Anyway, it was fun. Glad the yellows turned out to be a speedbump and not a brick wall like in past raids. Next time I hope to bring my crab.

With increased EXP all around and several hours to play (not even to the extent of Kat's previous gaming schedule), is 1 - 50 really closer to twenty-six miles than the hundred meter dash?
If you're playing a character exclusively, then no. That's why I rotate between several characters. I played exclusively with WHF in the beginning and hit 50 in less than 4 months. He's the only one I did that with.

For a while, I was rotating playing characters that were close to reaching a goal level, like travel powers, or stamina, or costume slots. Once I hit that level with one character, I'd go play another one. I tried to spread the love, while also trying to do different arcs than I've done on previous characters. I still haven't done every arc on either side, 4 years later.

You can still find ways to extend the leveling speed without doing odd things like turning off XP, or running lots of TFs while exempted, and still play a good amount during the week.

I don't think he was saying that you PL'd any of your toons... just that your boredom, etc. was the reason that HE didn't PL. And I agree.
This, CK. But I also don't assume that you played ALL of your characters all the way to 50 without getting on the easy train for at least one or two of them, either. The comment wasn't really directed at you in particular, CK, anyway. You just happened to be the latest to articulate the same reasoning for being bored.

After 23 level 50's and the ONLY new content for 50's that was added in the last 4 years being ITF, STF, LGTF, RWZ missions and paper missions.....yeah my pot of stuff to do that is interesting is empty. Sadly I15 allows me to turn all my powers pink now so I will spend all of an hour doing all of my toons and yeah well then what? (BTW I am totally disappointed that the power customization that I am totally not excited about didn't have any bright colors like the hot pink)

I still love the game. However I pretty much have every lvl 50 I am interested in having. So give me something to play? :-)
No offense to you, or anyone else that has this many 50's already, but this kind of thinking is exactly why I'm in no hurry to PL to 50 on every toon I make. I've been playing for almost 4 years, and I have 4 50's, and a few more that are a few levels away. I still play almost every day, just not for hours on end most days. They've been saying for years that they have no interest in increasing the level cap, so how much content could they possibly add to the endgame that can't be done fairly quickly? There's been several new TFs, new minizones, etc, but once you've done it a few times, you're right back at square one again.

AE is supposed to bridge the gap between major content additions, but it's not everyone's cup of tea, which can be expected. Many people have taken to gaming the markets as their new endgame endeavour, but then you run into what to spend all the inf on once you've IO'd out your stable of characters. If the Devs were to try to add serious content with every Issue, or even every other Issue, we'd be getting them way less frequently, and the complaining wouldn't subside. QoL issues are fine, and many of the things that the new Issue addresses are much needed and appreciated. Plus, we have the benefit of knowing an expansion is getting closer to coming out.

I guess the TL;DR version is: Patience is a good thing. MMOs are a marathon, not a sprint.

Minimum level to do a TF still applies. Ex: A level 20 still can't do anything above a Sister Psyche, even if they're SK'd. Pretty sure they haven't done anything with the minimum number of teammates requirement either.

And what's wrong with playing matchmaker? I and most people I know didn't really have issues with this. So it's a fix to something that I didn't need fixed?

I'm not trying to be argumentative however it just seems strange and IMHO not really necessary.
Personally, I've run into a problem with balancing a team with sks and mentors a few times, or seen it in one of the Chat channels. It was never more than an annoyance for me, but it's not necessarily unwanted or unneeded. Try to think of this scenario: Let's say you have a team in the mid twenties, and someone has a buddy that wants a friend that they were SK'd to to join the team. That buddy has a 45, but really wants to play that character and also wants to still earn xp because they're close to leveling. In the old system, that 45 couldn't join if he wanted xp, and most likely the friend wouldn't abandon him and you'd be out two teammates. With the new system, now you have two choices. The 45 can Ex down and still get xp, running the lvl 20ish mishes (and have a couple more powers at their disposal than they'd have had in the old exemplar system. Now you get to keep up to 5 levels of powers/slots above the level you're ex'd to, if you've earned them. Example: A level 33 blaster that exemplars down to 28 will still have his lvl 30 and lvl 32 powers, which would most likely be their nuke power. Yay!) The other option now is for that 45 to SK the ENTIRE team up to 44, and run the high level mishes. How is that not a good thing?

    Quote:

Since I've now spent more time with it, every time I zone, I'm required to reaffirm that I want to be Exemplar'ed or SK'ed. What happens if my team zones or I zone and D/C? I only have 30 secs and if I'm on a TF did I just lose because there was a network hiccup?
As someone said, there's a couple of sliders in the options menu that you can use to set a range of levels that you'll automatically SK or Ex in. Presumably this will get rid of the need to reaffirm your desire to be adjusted every time you zone, but I have yet to see it in action myself.

    Quote:

    Just extra things I'm seeing.

Bonuses so far, I can be SK'ed to someone and be in a totally different zone from them and then can solo things I normally wouldn't be able to.

i.e. if my friend invites me to a team while they are level 6 in KR and I enter the sewers on my level 1, I can now solo the sewers because I'm still SK'ed even though I'm across zones.

    Odd.
This works only until someone chooses a mission. Until then, you're SK'd or EX'd to the team leader. Once a mission is picked, everyone adjusts to the mission holder's level, if it's different than the team leader.
  17. Have the mission holder crank up their difficulty levels. That way you're still fighting higher level stuff, and getting the corresponding xp. The whole point to the new system is not having to have to play matchmaker with sidekicks and mentors, and not having to exclude doing hazard zone mishes or not accepting lowbies if they can't get into a zone.
  18. For powers like Aim and Build Up, BaB has said that their theme colors (yellow for ACC buffing, red for DAM buffing, etc) will stay on those powers, so you, and more importantly, others, can see what you've just done. The secondary F/X can be changed, though.

Ancillary and Patron pool powers are coming later, as are general pool powers like Hasten. The biggest hold up is the Kheldians and things like Granite, where it's not the colors, but swapping character models. He's trying to come up with a better way of doing it for those kind of powers.
  19. Rolling a Rad blaster, to give it a test drive. I noticed several powers in the set got an adjustment, but doesn't seem too unreasonable at first glance.

    Recoloring a few characters powers.

Seeing how many badges I earned at log-in.

Probably be on the look out for a Master of ... team or two in the next couple days.

Part of the reason (imo) that they're "nerfing" AE is to try to coax people back out into the real missions where purples will drop. As it stands right now, you have what appears to be a majority (or a very large minority) of the player base racing to 50 in AE where purples won't drop, and the ticket cap per mission cut down on the number of rares you see rolled from those. After they hit 50, they have a fairly large amount of surplus cash with which they're going to try to purple out their toons, so they're effectively generating demand and influence without contributing as much to the supply.
Purples drop in Dev Choice arcs, if people bothered to play those instead of their farms. I got one there after running about three of them.

Perhaps they also need to grant more arcs with Devs Choice status as well.

The part I quoted (that some of the changes were made to limit the skill spread) is true and I can copy and paste PMs to prove it, though I'd rather not at the moment. In short, one of the biggest reasons the PvP changes were made is because a team of seasoned PvPers would steamroll a team of newbies (which should happen by any kind of sane logic).
Yes, but are these seasoned PvPers steamrolling because of their general skill, or because they locked on to the FoTM builds that were nigh-invulnurable to all but a few other builds? Castle, misguided or not, was trying to open up the Arena and PvP zones to more playstyles and ATs/builds, and trying to push down the perceived need to only bring certain powersets to the fight at the exclusion of all others. The way he went about it was probably heavyhanded, but I don't think the intent was necessarily wrong. And besides, for every PvPer that said I12 pvp was just fine, there were just as many that were still calling for changes. They got change, but it just wasn't the change they were hoping for.

I kind of agree about the sentiment of these posts, but at the same time, it's really not the Dev's fault the prices are the way they are. Purples are Ultra-Rares. They're supposed to be hard to find and expensive to buy. Their bonuses are great for a reason. If we were meant to fully kit out a character in a matter of days, the drop rate on purples would have been set much higher. People keep blaming the generic "Market" or the "drop rates" for not being able to put their toon-building into warp drive, and they keep missing the real culprit: their fellow players. Nothing sets the prices but the folks that place things up for sale and the people willing to part with their inf.

The majority of the players know that making inf is relatively easy, even if you don't spend hours on the markets or crafting stuff to sell. What else, exactly, do you have to spend your inf on? I think Purples should be earned. If that takes a few hours or days to earn the inf to buy one, or gather a few good drops to sell to buy one, then that's what you gotta do. Why does every aspect of this game have to be set on "extremely easy and fast?" You don't hit a button to be a good PvP player, do you? It takes practice, which takes time. Why can't acquiring the rarest loot in the game take time as well?
