Actually, I look at the Loyalist/Resistance storylines as being more like Origins. It determines which Contacts a Preatorian gets and what missions he is assigned. But he can keep switching sides as much as he want, which will probably effect his path through the missions. Either way, though, he's still a Praetorian, he doesn't become either a Hero or Villain until he decides to do that by going beyond his home missions and Contacts.
Even if you go Resistance all the way till you have to decide where to go outside of Praetoria, you can still choose to go to Rogue Isles and become a Villain. And same goes for the opposite. You're probably right about what goes on before that happens though. I like that the decisions you make seem to have some bearing on what comes next.

    Could it be this: boo_s

    Or this: boos_

Either one would make you very popular with the guys.

Is that considered as "leaving the team/TF" as well? That would be bad, because characters that get mapserved or forcibly disconnected would no longer be able to continue the TF.

Otherwise, that item makes no sense, because quitting the team has always been equal to quitting the TF. In other words, you can't "quit the team without quitting the TF" as the description suggests as a prior behavior.
Unless there's some sort of bug associated with quitting the game while still on a TF, I doubt they'd remove that feature, since mapserves and disconnects are commonplace. They probably just worded it poorly. Should have said "When a player quits a taskforce team" Getting disconnected is not the same as quitting the TF.

Wasn't the money that kept me from going, it was them waiting too damn long to announce the dates. I made plans for the weekend before they told us. (Which, by the way, was an awesome weekend. Went to see U2 in Vegas with my best friend. Had to buy the concert tix when they went on sale)

Since when did anyone say that GR was coming with I20?

There is no such thing as totally neutral. You're either for or against whatever is going on.

Rogues and Vigilantes aren't technically neutrals, either. If you were totally neutral, you'd be able to access both markets (or neither). Think of them as "hero-in-training" instead of Rogue, and "villain-in-training" instead of Vigilante.

Some of the categories were just for villain groups, etc, and not the overall arc. You can have a great custom villain and not necessarily have a great story or a well-designed set of missions.

Either way it goes you guys need to reconsider the thing on not merging the markets because its going to come back to bite you in the butt at a later time. Mark my words.
Having separate markets since they were added to the game hasn't "bitten them in the butt" yet. What makes you think that would happen now?

Once a Praetorian chooses a side to go to at lvl 20, they become either a Hero or Villain. If you picked Hero, you'd have to do the same content as a "born in Paragon" hero if you wanted to go visit the Rogue Isles later.

I've yet to see one fail and haven't even begun to see this statement as true or necessary. I'm seeing banner's fall with a small handful of random people taking them out.
If you just have a handful of people in the zone at the start of the event, and don't have sufficient coverage on all the banners at the same time, it's very possible to fail to take them all down. The one's I've seen fail did so because there were maybe 4 or 5 people in the zone (redside) and the banners remained invulnurable till about 6 minutes remained on the timer. That's not enough time to get all 4 banners, especially if they're spread out, and especially if there's lots of MMs that have their pets (and the damage they bring) taking longer to get from banner to banner. The banners also regenerate if you don't have enough firepower.

For future reference, if you're having troubles getting a picture large enough to make masks out of, you could just print out whatever you find and head over to someplace that does copying/printing and have them blow it up for you on their bigger printers. They'll have good enough equipment to make sure it still looks good even though it's blown up, and even make it in color if you want.

And yes, AoW had the largest turnout which is why they won. But that isn't AoW's fault. It is on you to show up with a large group of skilled players.
For the record, I've never said they shouldn't be participating at all. I previously suggested that if there's a team event, there shouldn't be a team of AOW. They could spread out amongst the other teams if they wanted to play too. Perhaps other SGs aren't showing up in large numbers because they feel differently about the special treatment. Remember, we're talking perception from outside your group.

    Quote:
I realize this was directed towards felecia but I think I can answer. Before, the events were closed to everyone but AoW. Now they are open to everyone and anyone can win. Also, in the most recent event, felecia did give hundreds of millions away to PoN, Phire's team (UHB? sorry I can't keep track of all the leaders and their groups), and a few others. So, I think the biggest difference is that anybody can win now whereas before nobody could win. I think you are probably smart enough to realize this on your own, though.
Yes, theoretically, anyone CAN win. The question is, does it really shake out that way in reality, and does everyone have an equal chance? Are you truly giving away your inf if you're just handing it from one SGmate to another?

Thanks for responding, Dave. I'm going on with this because I think you guys have a good idea. I just think the execution leaves a bit to be desired.
  16. Another strategy would be to have a teammate with Assemble the Team hanging back somewhere in the middle of the zone (if there's plenty of other folks killing banners). As soon as they find the Aspect, they TP their team to the GM and make sure that at least their team gets the badge.

After finding out that it took the 10% team damage to get the badge after the first run, I used this strategy the second time and it seemed to work fine. There's so many events happening during the two weeks that it's tough to not get those badges eventually.

Standing around waiting for everyone to gather around the Aspect sounds good, but there's always gonna be one team that starts fighting earlier than the others. Might as well make sure that team includes you.
  17. Dave, you and Felecia are both stepping around my main point, so I'll say it again in plain english:

Why do you feel good about the host SG winning (more often than not, and mainly because they have the most turnout and therefore the best chance of winning) their own events, and more importantly, why should anyone outside of AOW feel good about it?

Felecia, you left in a fit of rage earlier and declared that all future events you ran would be AOW only. What's different about doing it that way and what's currently going on?

Personally, I wouldn't ask my SG to participate in something where I felt like they wouldn't have a fair chance of winning, simply because of the name over their head. You two can argue till the cows come home about how you feel what you did is fair, but it won't change the fact that perception is just as important as reality, and things sure look fishy from the outside. Good intentions won't cover that up.

You would still have to pay to participate and you can only log into the test server over that week/weekend if you bought a Hero-con ticket.
Gift bags of stuff could be sent to participants as part of the "ticket" price - and/or just added directly to accounts.
There would be limited "tickets" based on the load that the test server can handle - I can guarantee that will be more people than are at Hero-Con!
All panels could be posted on youtube and characters could go to certain places in the City/Test server to ask questions on discussion panels (in advance obviously).

It wouldn't necessarily eliminate the live event. It would allow may more people to pay money to attend the convent....I mean participate in the convention!

Obviously, there are other things that could go on involving the DEVs and special events on the Test Server during the convention time.
Yeah, and probably that would be too many people for the DEVs to be able to handle at one time at any rate....

    ...but still....even so....
I think you're missing the point about what a con is supposed to be about. If the whole thing is still in the game (test server or live), what's the point of even doing it? Cons bring nerds and geeks of all shapes and sizes out into the real world for a few days so they can mingle with each other and experience live interaction, and pay way too much for an autograph from someone whose still semi-famous for something they did ten years ago. It's also a chance for the game devs to put names to faces they hear about from the forums so when they complete their evil plans to screw PvPers and Villains completely, they can properly imagine those players crying in their sleep.

I hope you guys can see now the point i was making when i created this event. There is no excuse or reason you guys cannot put one alt each in the same sg as your friends and work together to accomplish things such as the AE Challenge! You have 12+ alts so you can spare one to help your friends!

Before anyone says why dont i do it - i obviously do! People ask why i would have 1-4 alts outside AOW, well because i am community minded and help people who deserve it! You can be dedicated to an sg but still help your friends!
Hypothetical time: Felicia, let's say you're putting on another AOW sponsored event that required teams. Let's also assume, as you said, that you, personally, have alts spread out in several non-AOW SGs. Now let's assume that the event requires you to just pick one character to play, since teams would be competing simultaneously. Are you seriously going to pick anything but one of your AOW alts to play? Is anyone else in your SG or one of your coalition SGs going to pick a non-AOW character? How is this policy of "being dedicated to your SG but still helping your friends" really helping anyone but your own group? If your SG is throwing an event, you're gonna make sure as many of your own folks show up, so OF COURSE you'll have a well-rounded, full team. Everyone else is bringing whomever remembers the event is happening.

Why is it that you can't see how the sponsoring SG winning their own events is wrong when everyone else does? At least spread the AOW folks around to fill out the competing teams. They're still participating, but the PR is soooo much more positive.

  21. Possibly a stupid question, but it relates to the topic, so I'll ask here instead of elsewhere:

Let's say you're set for +1/+3, and you're on a team of three, and you're doing your mission. Will the mission spawn for a team of three, no matter what the difficulty is set to, since there's three physical people on it, or will it now adjust to spawn like a team of 6?

And part two of the question: Is there an upper limit to how high the adjusted team size goes, as far as spawns? Say the mission holder is set to /+8 and the team is full, will it spawn insanely-sized mobs?

  24. Funny (or sad, depending on whose side you're on) part is, the fact that you felt the need to make a video like this tells us that SF and Lord Skyppy has already won this battle. Way to cement the obvious.

People can do just fine with or without if they know what they're doing.
Here's the issue in a nutshell. People really can do just fine without any one particular power in any set, on any AT. However, other players judge them just by looking at their powerset list, or by comparing the current experience on the team to previous experiences with a player that did have the power in question. They think to themselves "We could have mowed through these mobs a whole ten minutes faster if we'd have had someone with SB. He sucks. Why isn't the leader booting them?" What they really should be considering is "We accomplished the tasks set before us. No team wipes occured. I had so much fun that I didn't even notice that the player didn't {insert power in question}." They rarely get to the "this player knows what they're doing" part.

Maybe putting in the ability to look at other people's powers wasn't the best idea, if the best we can do with it is make ill-informed judgement calls based on what we read.
