Addendum: PERC and PvPEC turned me down because they did not feel the need for bigger prizes, they felt that what they offered was reasonable enough and people should come out to events mainly because they want to have fun. It should not be all about money. They do have a valid point, but i think having larger prizes or more prizes gives people more of a reason to come out. This topic might be a good discussion for another thread.
No need to start yet another Felicia thread. Everyone is reading this one, so let's keep the answers in here, shall we.

If your event isn't fun without prizes, it won't be fun even with huge prizes. If you feel you have to overcompensate because either the sponsor would drive people away that are on the fence about coming, or you just suck at planning an event, that's your deal, but I doubt there's a whole lot of folks that will show up to an event simply because of the prizes awarded. Make it worth their time. You don't have to show everyone how great you are.

"If you are nice" is the focal point of every problem that anyone has with Felicia (not AOW...Felicia). Her definition of "nice" seems to involve some measure of butt-kissing, telling her how great she plays, and possibly some brain matter removal. She also acts like it's some kind of great reward for us to be around her and gain her approval. Does anyone enjoy hanging around people that need constant approval and reassurance in real life? What makes that sound better in a game?

You can try to spin it, Dave, but Felicia brings the drama down on herself every time she pipes up. I would imagine she walks barefoot, to make it easier to open-mouth-insert-foot, after growing tired of the taste of shoeleather.

Positron said as much as it should be equivalent, whatever BABs jokes about "alternative" not meaning equivalent.
Now did he actual say it, or are you implying it from other conversations? There might not be a difference to you, but to most people, it makes a big difference, especially when it involves red names. There's a group of forum posters that are wont to extrapolate every minute, obscure comment and try to convince us that "He said it exactly this way, so it must be so." Those folks are the reason the red names on the forums are very obtuse with the majority of their comments and answers.

BAB wasn't joking, either. Alternative does not necessarily mean equivalent. In most cases, it's not. When you chose the alternative to something, you are making a conscious decision to live with what comes with going that route. In this case, it should be that by going all AE, or mostly AE, you are leveling, yes, but leveling slower than someone who does mainly dev created content. Alternative can also imply that any benefit you gain from choosing that route is not necessarily the primary benefit of doing said content. The Devs repeatedly said that AE was a method for the players to share stories, and create content for others to enjoy. A side benefit was that you gained rewards for doing it, but they never implied that AE would be just as good as running the old stuff, and it would be kind of silly of them to want folks to do the AE content instead of the normal stuff by making the rewards too good.

Will players choose to focus their reward-gathering in AE? Yes, same as some like to focus on PvP, or marketing. That doesn't mean the system needs to change to accomodate them.

Now it has become crystal clear that villians WOULD unbalance the event and since AOW is a SG not a VG and i had no support getting the Infamy myself Villians are now excluded.

You cannot see things from my perspective because 1. you never tried to do this kind of event and 2. you never tried to raise 2 Billion Infamy for an event.

As for the balance problem, if you want to see what i am talking about instead of posting nonesense, run the mission - The Army Of Dragons with a team of corrupters, dominators and brutes. Then run it solo with a Stalker. Then run it with a MM or a team of MM's. You will finally see what i mean about balance. The lone stalker will beat the event in approximately 45 minutes while the other teams wont be able to complete it at all.

Trying to write a challenge that is 30-60 minutes long that can challenge vets but not frustrate noobs is not easy. If you think it is, just try it!
So instead of throwing out the baby with the bathwater, why not just say "Sorry, no stalkers or MMs" or come up with some kind of handicap? Oh, wait, that involves a few more seconds of work....I forgot. You don't like doing work.
  6. Maybe the original cape mish was never meant to be run via Flashback in the first place. They just finally got around to removing it, since they had an updated mish to insert anyway.

More folks don't bother to read the forums (and sign up for things) than do. Spread the word in game throughout the days leading up to the event, and there'll be more folks participating.

If money is the reason why villains are being excluded I am sure they would be willing to take hero money or nothing even. Also I am willing to help out getting prize money if needed even though I am still knew to this game and getting my toons set up.
At least one of their events is for villains too, probably more. Don't throw them in with AOW.

  11. Should have posted this sooner, but Thanks to all for the raid. I'm sorry I wasn't around for the finish of it. My laptop locked up before the GM was spawned, and by the time I could get back on the game after rebooting, the zone was full. The rest of my VG finished, and we got our beacon now.

We've been here for a while. Long enough to get a couple of characters each up into the high 40's and some 50s just by mainly playing once a week. Perhaps we can do it again sometime.

If you feel the principle is worth your time to do so, sure, why not?

One of the biggest problems in the consumerscape is this. When we get screwed over
(again, speaking in general, not on the booster pack in specific,) we don't usually
do anything about it. Whether it's for $10 or $100, or whatever, we just shrug and
go "oh well it's only X" and go on about our business. Granted that's more
convenient to do most of the time, but it encourages patterns of bad behavior,
poor customer service, and nickel-and-dime money making at the consumer's
    expense.

If you want quality service delivered to you, you have to stand up and go "Hey,
just a second here..." and let them know, when you feel you haven't received
fair value for your buck. If OP or anyone else, feels that the booster pack didn't
deliver said value for their buck for whatever reason, I wouldn't find it all that big of
a problem to go about reversing the transaction. It gets them their $10 back(which
would be worth double in personal satisfaction, in that event,) and delivers a
message about product quality/service, to the people who listen the hardest.
Yes, but there's also a fine line between standing up for getting good service for your money, and demanding to be treated like a king for parting with a pittance. Some folks find that line a bit hard to stay behind, and those are the ones that A) cause the most grief for the businessman, and B) cause grief on their fellow customers by inadvertantly making the business give poorer customer service to everyone, whether they complained or not.

The Boy Who Cried Wolf was justified once, but because he complained about nothing so many times, no one cared before it was too late.

There is a certain "us-and-them" attitude, where famous personalities are cool enough to get away whith anything on the forums and in game, while outsiders get trolled until they are intimidated into submission.

The server is not as community oriented as it used to be...of course, I am only a 51 month veteran, so what do I know about it ? I dont think Champion is the community server, I would say it is more the Drama Server. but this is my own opinion on the matter, others are welcome to agree, or disagree as they see fit.
So PoN isn't a cool kids club either? LOL...whatever.

People in BMT get kicked when they deserve it, not because of who they are or what group they belong to. The ones that make it a point to act like a dill hole get booted faster than the others, but when you're not there to do anything but cause problems, that's what you deserve.
  14. I guess all the suggestions from people that HAVE run cross faction events just went right over your head then..../e facepalm.

If you didn't want villains at your event, you should have made that abundantly clear in the original post, but you didn't.

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...24#post2431124

In summary: Claws/Pistols looked better when the jump animation was a cross-armed pose rather than the basic arms-up pose that normal jump uses.

In general, other posters agreed. I can't speak for all players, but from that thread:

In favor of changing Claws/Pistols back to cross-armed:
    Dispari
    gigas
    Darkfaith
    Street Wolf
    Ninja Trail

In favor of changing Pistols but keeping Claws the same:
    Bright Shadow

In favor of keeping both the same:
    British Battler

    Please consider it?
Since you mentioned it again here, I'll respond here instead of in the other thread.

Personally, I'd prefer animations/poses that lessen the chances for clipping issues. Crossing arms in front looks cool, but not for every character model, nor for every costume. A compromise would be a random pose for every jump, but that might require more work, I suppose.

I did point out a month ago in another thread when people were asking villians to be included that AOW was an SG not a VG and getting Infamy was not going to be easy. It is not easy, especially when no one helps you. So no infamy = no payout for the event (sorry you cant figure that out for yourselves).

You guys want more excitment and events, then go all out to make sure no one goes to it (who is the psychotic one?). So if none of you have any common sense, then plz dont come to these events. Unless your going to contribute something positive quit posting.
We'll stop posting in your threads as soon as you start being positive in other people's threads. See what I did there?

If you can't come up with the prizes within your own group, don't advertise that you can. Why is that so hard?

And as a final note, YOU are the only one whining about the quality of events and the general community on this server, and YOU have made it your God-given right and duty to save the Champion server from itself by coming down from on high and gracing us lowly mortals with AOW's presence and scheduling all kinds of crazy events that do nothing to promote whatever it is you're claiming to promote. We're doing just fine, thanks for the concern, and you can keep whatever it is you call common sense.

The real community of Champion knows what's what, and they don't need us pointing out the obvious, but why let that stop some folks from having some lulz on the forums?

    Villain Events

There's already a certain MA arc that's being used as a contest, of some sort . Why not organize some teams to run through it and see if you can beat the best hero team?

AOW promotes all aspects of CoH including PvP. I personally dont like PvP'ers due to thier aggressive dont care about others attitude. I have discovered PvP players are organizing to help each other swing matches so certain players win the prizes. Like a said PvP'ers generally lack morals! So the PvP events will now be a 1 on 1 elimination style.

I am not trying to be insulting, i am just pointing out what should be obvious to you guys. If you constantly show bad behaviour then i will call you out on it. Use some common sense and we will get along fine.
You don't have to try to be insulting, Felicia, you just do whenever you open your mouth. The above post is just a big sign that says "Don't come to my event unless you're AOW"

As has been said by many since you first posted about this event:

Have fun giving out inf to yourself. It's what you really wanted in the first place.

  22. Not everyone runs a CC that takes 4 hours, Felicia.

You've got stuff going all day long. If some folks are off doing something else for a bit of the day, there's nothing wrong with that.
  23. Reminder:

    See you guys there.

  24. When people keep getting on looking to do the same content every night (ie certain TFs) and they don't get bites, that doesn't mean no one wants to team with you. That means they don't want to do the same damn TF for the hundredth time in a row. Be more flexible in what you're willing to do. It might also mean that there were just two or three groups of folks that set up other TFs or the same TF you were wanting to do and you just missed them before they started. It happens.
