This is why it's still fun to log in every day. You never know where the conversations are going to go

Quote:It's invite-only (and they said they'll be sending invites in the next couple days), but it's for anyone that is one of these:Now on the main page. Dual Pistols Closed Betas also started today.
A) Went to HeroCon
B) Longtime Vet (5+ yrs)
C) Fulfilled the Loyalty Program requirements (active account during the required time period in Oct/Nov. If you have a badge from it, you're good)
It's also for a "limited time", to shake out the glaringly obvious imbalances/animation issues. Hopefully they'll do the same thing with Demon Summoning, though maybe not since the Mastermind mechanic is pretty standard. The Whip, however, is not, so here's hoping. -
Perhaps the Dark Mirror is a reference to the Praetorian AVs we've come to know and love. They could be gearing up for some type of major assault on our world, and the "more missions" could be things to do that would either slow them down, or perhaps introduce us to the Resistance or other factions we'll be seeing more of in Praetoria.

Quote:If you went to HeroCon, you're the correct Veteran program level, or you got the loyalty program badges, you can get in for this.Yes, as a closed beta. They pulled an I16, so if you're not in the beta you can't access the character creator.

Hit the test server now. Mod8 just announced that they put the Dual Pistols set on there for testing. /Cactus Jack "BANG BANG!"
Quote:I'm curious about this one. Does this mean that a newer player doesn't have to run a character all the way to 50 before unlocking VEATs or Kheldians? If so, why the change?Epic Archetypes now available at level 20 -
Since the issue is so old, your best bet is PMing a redname directly and ask them. They've got their heads buried in GR at the moment, but I'm sure they still read their messages occasionally.

Pair it up with a good secondary and you're golden. I have an elec/eng blaster, without VS, and he does just fine in both the damage and the end drain. I don't notice a difference between killing time between him and my eng/elec blaster, since with the energy I have to deal with the KB occasionally, which can add to the time it takes to kill mobs if you have to chase them.
It would be nice if the secondary effects were a bit more effective, but the bigger problem with endurance and NPCs is that they don't seem to follow the same rules we do, as far as firing off powers. As long as they have a sliver, they can hit their attacks, whereas we have to have enough end to use bigger attacks. If you're not draining all their end, you haven't disabled them. -
Quote:I liked both those arcs <.<Pardon me for saying this, but thank God! Horatio seemed like a nice enough guy, but he was a mediocre mission writer and had no background knowledge of this game. Feargas' arcs were far better than the Daedalus and Sister Airlia arcs. And he did those as a player, for free, with the limited tools available to players.
I voted for TV over Aeon, but I would vote more than a Chicago cemetery for Aeon over Horatio! -
1560 hrs on WHF. He's the only character I've had since day one for me.

Really, y'all need to stop using Jack Emmert as some sort of boogeyman
I was over at a friend's house earlier today and he happened to have STO going, so he showed me a few mishes. It looked fine to me, though he has his little nitpicks as well. Not sure I'd play it myself, but it seems like it would be worth a try at least, especially in a month or two once they start working out some bugs. -
I don't know...CoH made it 5 years without another super-hero MMO on the market. Didn't seem to hurt too much. If anything, competition hurt us, cause Cryptic split the dev team to go work on the Marvel game that went thud, and we were left with the Freem 15 for a couple of years. We might have had a lot more in this game if they'd had more help during that time, and we still had quite a bit from just that group, all things considered.

Right. And like CoV was at the time, GR will bring a graphic upgrade as well, for those whose comps can handle it. There's a bunch of folks that say "Yeah, it's an ok game, but it looks old." Pushing aside that yes, this game is old, they (hopefully) won't be able to say that when they see Ultra mode.
-
Quote:I think you're missing the point of the main line of complaining over there. Many of those players played CoH as well, and did go through those changes you listed. They also expected Cryptic, especially Emmert, to learn from those mistakes and not make them again in the very next game. Plus, the changes going in, and the paid expansion, are superceding filling in major gaps in launch content and bug fixes.
Anyone remember the nerdrage over Regen? The Arena? GDN? Or Heaven forbid, ED? Yeah, that's what Champions Online is going through now. It'll lose some subscribers over it, just like City of Heroes did over those changes. But, I fully expect it to be around two years from now, and the majority of the players playing it never having experienced what's going on now, much like the majority of the City of Heroes players never went through the Regen nerfs, GDN, and ED.
The game's been out long enough for wise folks to realize that the tune hasn't changed, and they're voicing their concerns. Not surprised at all, and I don't blame them a bit. I'd also be surprised if something similar didn't happen during the first 6 months of Star Trek being live. Once is a fluke, twice brings doubt, but three times would be a pattern.
To answer the OP's question about that mess being good for CoH: I think all it will do is have the people that had both games play this one more. People left this game never to return, burned their bridges, and nothing this game does will make them come back. -
Quote:I don't think they ever said it would be Q1. Didn't they say Spring? That's at least Q2, and if it's May, that's pushing Q3.The patient side of me tells me to be patient, and wait, and that I can do, as much as I hate the fact that we haven't gotten any actual good info since herocon or w/e.
No news for i17 either, and i really hope its not just some small issue like 15.
Honestly, the impatient side of me finds it hard to log on due to no new stuff to do and the fact that new info is coming out slower than a slug.
Starting to look like no q1 release for GR.
I see people keep mentioning the lack of things to do in the game right now, but will hearing everything there's going to be in the game change anything in the short term? There's still not going to be anything new till it goes live, or at least until you can get in on the beta. Wishing for info doesn't change people's level of boredom. If anything, I'd think it would make the waiting worse, cause you know what's coming and can't play it yet.
Do you guys peek under the wrapper of your Christmas presents too? -
A while? It's been a week.
Perhaps you need to do something else, PP. Obsessing isn't good for you. They'll tell us when they'll tell us, and not before. -
I played Grossman's arc. I liked the story, and the use of linked glowies, though in the second mission, there was a problem. There's four computers to smash, but the map is so small that you find the boss before the second computer. If you beat him before the computers, the dialog doesn't make sense, cause he's supposed to be talking to you through the computer, and one of them mentions him powering up his suit to get ready to fight you.
This mission needs a larger map, so the boss can be put at the end, either that or make the boss spawn after the computers are all taken out, like you did for the third mission. -
Quote:The more you bring this up, Radubadu, the more you're making it sound like you support the RMTers. You've been giving excuses for why it's ok that they exist, and even trying to find ways where they could co-exist in the game without harming anyone. You're misinterpreting my point. I don't want CoX to do what other games are doing in terms of RMT (or anything really)... but the fact that these other games are doing it and are successful makes it plausible that it could work in CoX. Look at any other business and you will see very similar things... one company tries something risky, it works, other companies follow suit.
But before you jump to the conclusion of me saying it's plausible meaning that I want it to happen just stop and realize that I'm looking at it objectively rather than the frustrated point of view that you seem to have concerning RMT. I'm not saying you don't have a right to be frustrated but I think it keeps you from being objective.
There are three points of view concerning RMT... those that get angry or frustrated about it (you), those that have accepted it as an issue present in every MMO that will likely never go away and are indifferent about it (me) and those that use/support it (nobody that's going to admit it here). I used to be you on this... when I played WoW I would go out of my way to report every spam I got. I even went as far as to report the name of every toon corpse (about 20) that was used to spell out a specific website in orgrimmar (a high traffic area hordeside kinda like Atlas) and the next day they were back with different names. Eventually I gave up and just accepted the random emails and /tells and corpse spelling as part of the game, so when I came to see it in CoX it didn't matter to me and actually, I see it much less in CoX.
Anyway don't think I support RMT, I used to fight the fight all the time... I just gave up as it's pointless to get upset over it or to think that your reporting a name is going to make a huge impact. It's the same thing as fishbots in FFXI which I'm not going to go into detail about but anyone that played it knows exactly what I'm talking about.
Also, in the hypothetical situation that NCSoft pursues RMT I would assume that they would have the foresight to realize that they would need a separate marketplace for RMT servers.
Do you want them to go away, or don't you? -
I realize that it's not quite the same thing as a Dynamic Respec, but isn't that what having a second build is for? You can make pretty much the same character, but with one or two powers different. Not trying to shoot down anyone's idea, but the Devs have addressed this issue somewhat already.
You may not be able to IO them the same, or it might take longer to do it properly, but it's better than nothing. Personally I've never used the feature, so I don't know how useful or not it actually is, but isn't Dual Builds an answer to this question? -

Quote:pics or it didn't happenWOW! CONGRATZ!
I told you guys for the past year it was possible. AOW has done a few. We used 2 tanks, 4 scrappers, 4 blasters, 1 defender, and 5 controllers.
ELITE TANK (Invuln Tank), Pyreklism (Fire Blaster) and Illyana Radburner (Fire/Rad Controller) made it easier on us. Yes i do use Felecia for these (Dark Defender).
Just so you know how to make it easier next time to shorten your time by at least half an hour use BlackHole or the gravity power equivalent to nuetralize most of the Mito's. (double slot accuracy level 50 io's to make sure they hit) -
