I believe if the email is undeliverable (wrong name or their box is full) it will bounce back to you.

As long as you're within the level range of the arc, I don't see why you couldn't abandon at a lower level and retake it at a higher one. If you outlevel the contact, though, in the meantime, you may not be able to get the mish again. This will apply when switching sides with the GR content. Your current mishes that aren't co-op will be auto-abandoned when you can no longer enter that side's zones, but can be picked up again when you switch back.

If it's simply wanting facts, you could have done the same thing you're requiring of us. You're just being lazy and got called on it. Searching through the forums is not hard. Especially if you're wanting Dev comments. They have a nice section of the forums just for their posts.

Quote:The red hairs on my chin all turned white in about a year. Finding white ones on my chest as well...fun stuff.#3- When your hair starts going gray. And I'm not talking the stuff on your head.
It's always fun when you see high school grads with birthdays in the 90s...some the same year I graduated from high school.
And seeing older movies on TV and forgetting how old they really are, like The Goonies. Seems like yesterday it was out. -
Per a Castle post in the Patch notes thread, it seems when fixing the mitos still healing when held problem, he also fixed the magnitude of Hold protection they get. In essence, we can damage them now when held, but holding them will be a lot tougher. Reports of this were from the LGTF only, so not sure if this applies to a full blown Hami Raid mito. Guess we'll find out tonight.
-
I don't mind when things get adjusted to be harder as long as they're still reasonably doable. Killing Hami, even a weakened one, shouldn't be as easy as it was before the green Mitos broke.
Funny what happens when a Dev pokes around under the hood when something breaks. You never know what else they'll find to adjust that they wouldn't have if the original problem hadn't surfaced. -
Go to one of the other events then? Now you have more than one to pick from.
Looks like a win to me. They'll probably be back to having a Hero Con the next year. -
For those in Europe, didn't War Witch herself go to England not too long ago and make an appearance? It's not like they never head out there.
I would have voted for Dragon*Con since it's fairly close to me, but oh well. Something in the midwest or southwest should be priority, since you've got the coasts covered.
Thanks for trying new things, Paragon. -
From the patch notes currently on the Test Server:
Quote:Corrected an error in Critter powers which could prevent them from being shut down in appropriate circumstances. Good examples are Reichsman keeping his max Resistance despite being shot with the Dimensional Grounding Ray, Green Mito's in the Lady Grey Task Force keeping their Healing Aura despite being held, and some critters retaining Hide when damaged.
They've fixed the mito problem. Should be going live soon. -
Do people need things spelled out for them? They fixed it so no more characters that had custom power colors would lose them when they logged in. Wouldn't it reasonably follow that it's ok to go ahead and fix yours that were affected without being told so?
Surely you have enough tokens laying around to do that. You really don't want a rollback...seriously. -
Quote:If there's something seriously wrong with a server that requires unscheduled shutdown/maintenance, they're not going to wait till something gets posted on the forums about it. They just give the red text admin warning in-game and worry about informing people later. SOP. If they did it the way you want, they'd be risking more damage than has already happened and it would take longer to fix.I said a little truth. So, the garments are not a full outfit. Maybe a hat, or socks, at most.
It's just annoying to have an announcement made that says to check the forums for details, and then to find nothing on the forums. At the time, I didn't even know it was just Virtue going down.
It would be nice if they posted the information on the forums before saying that there's information on the forums. Or at least change their default message to "Information will be posted on the CoH/CoV forums shortly".
But... on the upside, the downtime gave me time to do a load of laundry. I had to wash my Underwear of Justice for work tomorrow, all I had clean was my Boxers of Righteous Fury. -
Quote:Would the "New Issue every three to four months" mantra they used to tell us be doable in your world, or is that too much to reasonably expect at this point? To me, the previous Issues were coming at us fast and furious because they went after the low-hanging fruit whenever possible. Now they're trying to come up with seldom used or new ideas and they've got to do more ground-up building, which slows the process down, which should be expected.
To be honest, if I was Brian Clayton, that would be my number one skunkworks priority: figure out a way to make tools that free the content developers to release content at least twice as fast as they do now. And I'm fully aware of what I'm saying when I say "twice." I think its entirely within the realm of possibility, but would probably require a special parallel effort to generate -
Quote:If you've been playing the game for as long as you say you have, there is no change the Devs can make that will permanently remedy your problem of being bored with the content. It's ok to stop playing a game and go do something else. We'll be fine. Leveling is just as fast, if not faster, than it ever was, and you can even do it faster soloing than you used to. How is that bad again?if they didnt we wouldnt have changed sidekicking 3 times to try and stop it.if your old enough here to remember 41 being the minimum lvl to go into a lvl 50 mish and get xp.then to combat that it was 46. now everyone gets to be 49. all to stop or fix farming high lvl xp

Look Castle, I've been trying really hard to be supportive of you since taking a break after the last time I got sick of some of your shortsighted moves. But if you want that kind of support then you can't post things that are representative of someone with no understanding of the situation and expect it to just go over smoothly. You are supposed to be the guy that knows. If you don't know it is far better to PM someone who does before proceeding.
Just because he hasn't personally experienced something doesn't mean he's ignorant of it. He, and the other Devs, know quite a bit more about how this game works and have access to tools to find out even more than even the best number crunching, demorecording players because they're developers. You could PM him all the data you've come up with for a month straight, and he'd still rely on the tools he has to make final decisions. What you and other players say only give them a starting point.
The Devs have a purpose in mind for everything they do, and they've stated that purpose in many forms. They might fall short of your purpose, but that doesn't make them short-sighted. It just means your vision and their vision don't match. It happens. In the end, they've chosen a path, and it's up to the players to follow it or find another game to play that suits their goals better.
If I were Castle, I wouldn't have said anything more than he did. He acknowledged player concerns, and said he'd look into it when he had time. He didn't make any promises, and said nothing concrete about what changes, if any, would be made. What more do you want right now? -
Not defending rude posts, but there has also been a severe spike in whining posts as well, about things that have come up more than a few times. Players that have been around the forums for a while are getting sick and tired of seeing them. There's 6 years of player information floating around. Taking the time to read older threads should be the first step before making yet another thread about Topic X. If it's obvious you didn't research before you posted, prepare for the snark cause it's coming, and it's generally deserved.
Carry on. -
Quote:I am still unable to play on my desktop:
Win 7 Ultimate, nVidia 6800XT, AMD 64 3000+ system.
i17 Started the problems of which I had NONE pre i17. The patch increased my connection issues and Technical Support told me to get a new router. This when my laptop plays CoH just fine on the same router.
If your laptop plays just fine after I17 drops but your desktop doesn't, shouldn't that tell you the problem lies within your desktop and not the game?
/standard response to check drivers, etc. -
What do y'all think? Put aside the New Issue bugs for a minute, since it's still fresh, and think about it objectively. I know this will once again inconvenience those whose prime time of play gets interrupted by maintenance times, but if we're introducing higher tech graphics with Ultra Mode and f/x intensive powersets like Demon Summoning and whatever else is still to come, is only having one maintenance window per week gonna cut it?
I vote for having a second day for maintenance again. It's been long enough having just the one day to see how effective it's been, and how effective it will be going forward. Is it still worth having an extra day of play (for those affected by maintenance windows) in exchange for a degradation in performance?
Throwing it out for discussion, and hoping a community rep/redname weighs in at some point with any glimpse of what Paragon/NCSoft's current stance on server maintenance is. I know when the maint.schedule was changed they said it would be monitored. -
Don't remember (been so long since I've respec'd anyone), but does the influence display on the respec screen have commas? Seems like the OP might not have counted the digits correctly and missed his total by a factor of ten. 16 million and change sounds more realistic than 168 million.
-
Only 1.5 gig of RAM? I'm surprised you could play this long without choking your computer. 2 Gig is the minimum recommended, and you'd probably want more than that if you can fit it.
Need more RAMs to start with. That would lessen the blow of the newer graphics, which seems to be affecting most of us, whether UM is turned on or not. -
Quote:I've experienced this before, but way before this new Issue dropped. Not sure if there's any repeatable steps to make it happen every time you try to enter the base. It happened to me once, and I've never seen it again.
3. Occasionally my character will spawn directly inside the base portal enterance instead of next to it. I can only move the dimensions of the portal tube. Only thing I have found that works is to click on the portal to leave and try to return. Sometimes this take two or three attempts. -
No. The only unscheduled double xp weekend that I remember was given because of massive server crashing during a scheduled double xp weekend. Bugs can't be fixed in that short a time, so they gave us another weekend to make up for it, even though many people would rather they hadn't.

Question for those who consider themselves Base Builders (rather than those who just threw together a functional base and haven't touched it since. I fall under this category, though with more tools and more variety I would be happy to be included in the designers category):
Any of you show up to a Con where Devs were present and try to talk about these things? HeroCon, PAX? Anything?. Sending PMs and missives and creating reams of threads pointing to other threads doesn't seem to be working. Any of you trying to communicate in person?
Base Builders aren't the most ignored/abused/whatever you want to call it group in the game. Ask a PvPer how they feel about the attention they got recently. I'm sure they'd gladly change positions with you. Ask the people who use the Architect regularly and have to make change after change to their arcs due to exploit fixes and other things. I'm sure they'd love to be ignored rather than have to constantly be editing arcs to keep them playable. Careful what you wish for.
That being said, keep calling attention to what would be good for the Base Building community (and even better, for those who might wish to join that group, but are put off by the learning curve), but keep the demands and the entitled attitude to a minimum. You might get further with the Devs that way. -
Good Job, Umann.
For those of you not hip to this, Umann makes some of the best costumes I've ever seen in the game. He'd be a guy to go to for some pointers or some critiquing. -
Perhaps they avoided questions that have nothing to do with Going Rogue content for a reason. If they didn't answer any questions about base raids (which there was one question that got answered. Look at the list again), or PvP, or <insert supposed begged for content> it's safe to assume that you won't be seeing anything in those areas for a while, and you'll get nothing but the answer you don't want to hear ("it's being discussed" or "on the back burner" or "not at this time").
Keep whining about the Devs ducking questions though. Your 15 bucks a month is money well spent. -
Quote:I'm throwing a flag on this one. How do you know he'd be ten times better with pets? I've seen plenty of MMs with pets that still suck cause they don't know how to control them. Is his lack of pets making the team die more than they would otherwise? Or is it just taking a bit longer to kill things? If it's the latter, that's not really as big a deal as some folks make it out to be.
A petless Mastermind. (No, I don't care if you "made it work." You'd be about 10 times better with your pets.)
Odds are most folks are too busy worrying about their own character to know what's going on (or not going on) with the rest of the team once the fighting starts.
Kick a dude for being a <feminine hygiene product>. Kick him for being AFK too long. Not choosing the powers you'd like them to have isn't their fault, nor their problem. And if you choose to boot them before you can see what they can do for the team, it's you being the <f.h.p> .
