  1. One piece of trivia that I find interesting, and I'm not sure it was announced:

When looking to see what servers were East Coast/West Coast I found out that it seems all the servers are in one location, in Dallas. I guess there's no grouping anymore, so it's more likely that when a big hamster falls off his wheel in the server farm, it will affect the entire game and not just half the servers.
  2. Anyone else feel like they're stuck in a Mapserver loop? It's about 7:30p Central and my whole team is stuck in mapserver limbo, and globals are down. On Protector, but I'm guessing it's not just that server.

Good thing there's no major release next week or anything....oh wait

On the other hand... there is a slight problem... if Batman was not around Joker would have been killed long ago. Batman literally stops Joker from being killed because he stops Joker and thus the Police would act illegally if they shot the Joker.
If the police were executing a warrant and were attacked, or defending themselves or citizens from one of Joker's schemes, they'd be completely covered and within their rights to put a bullet in his brain pan, assuming there's no Batman to stop him.

Batman thinks he can help rehabilitate every criminal. It's the only reason he hasn't offed any of the more violent ones and allows them to keep going back to the revolving door that is Arkham.

A defender looks kind of fun. Is that a good choice? Advice is appreciated.

Forum population isn't really a good indicator of what you'll find in game, as far as numbers go. When I started playing, it took me almost a year to start a forum account and start posting regularly.

Welcome to the game. You started just in time for a bunch of new stuff to do, especially for the lower levels.

I haven't played the game yet, so I don't know to whom you are referring, but is it one of Batman's usual Rogue's Gallery members? If it is, your friend, if a fan of the Bat, should have known that person was a villain, and therefore, you should have been spared the wrath.

Because she's sitting in the Studio55 lounge, which is in Imperial City?
  9. Here's another question to ponder for drafting procedures:

Should we all draft in a certain order (everyone drafts an Animal category clip first, then everyone's second pick would be Fail, or whatever order you want them in)?

Or do we just draft in any order we want as long as we get one of each?

Doesn't matter to me how, as long as it's clear how we're doing it.

If memory serves, the last one they did didn't yield as many names as they'd hoped. Not sure they'll do it again unless they change the level threshold. Most unused toons are parked at a high enough level to avoid being generic'd

I think since the categories are pre-defined this time, you should keep them totally separate until the final 4. And people should declare what category they're picking the clip for, so you don't have to try to guess yourself if there's doubt.
  12. I'll jump in this again to help fill the slots. Should really test my search-fu
  13. Might as well take this thread as an opportunity to remind folks that the Markets, they are a merging, and the process involves a complete wipe of transaction histories, as well as canceling all outstanding bids and any unsold items. If I were you, I wouldn't trust your stuff to be stored in said market and make it on the other side of the merger. If you should happen to lose things that were stored on the market, you'll probably get them back, but why go through the headaches when you can just take a few minutes to take care of it now (when the market server comes back up, of course).

If you've bid on something that hasn't been bought yet, you get your money back, and if you're selling something that hasn't been bought yet, the sale gets canceled, so you'll need to retrieve your stuff. Don't remember if they said anything about getting listing fees back. This will happen AFTER (or during, really) the merge, not before, so don't expect things to be canceled before GR drops.

This is your one week warning. Roll some mules on other servers and email stuff to yourself if you need to.

We now return you to your scheduled topic.

He was seeing patterns that just weren't there. I'm glad none of that stuff really happened.

  16. Is it just me, or does that photo of Rivers (the one with him and Hurley) look eerily like a young Ben Linus?
  17. The question now becomes thus:

For the OP, and others of like mind, are they going to stick to their guns and never post in these forums again, or will we be seeing them again in one form or another in a couple of weeks?

The Doom can't officially start until the rats start abandoning the ship.
  18. I wish there was a way we could vote without seeing how the rest of the people voted. I think it might change the results slightly.

There really needs to be a Hide/Show feature in this forum.

For science fiction/fantasy for the setting can be fantastic, but the ultimate human element has ring true for the metahpor to work.
(why alot of marvel titles tend do well since the characters are humans with super imposed problems as an extention of their powers.) District 9 doesn't ring true. Just presents us with alot of mustache twirling jerks and tries claim this humanity. I'm sorry we dont all collectively roll that way. We're a mixed bag. it fails give us anythnig more than a poorly set up guilt trip.
Not going to debate the rest of your responses, since you've obviously chiseled them into your brain and just can't let go, but I have to respond to this.

You missed the entire point of the movie. It's not supposed to be like every other movie, that has well defined Hero and Villain archetypes, or plot devices that explain everything down to the last detail. It's a slice of time. The Aliens are supposed to be mysterious. They've only been around for 20 years. Do you realistically expect people to know that much about an alien, it's technology, or anything else about it in such a short time? I'm surprised they even know enough about their language for the common person to understand them, or for the aliens to understand humans.

Reality DOES contain mustache-twirlers, and that really is a possible reaction to an alien presence. Individuals can do good things, but when you put them into a mob, their morals go right out the window. You also missed that the alien ship decided to hover, out of all possible places, in Johannesburg, not exactly the finest example of humanity in the first place. The reaction to them would have been different if they'd decided to camp out in L.A., or New York, or London.

You think the movie sucks because they didn't tell the story the way you want them to. That, in no way, means the movie was horrible. It just didn't resonate with you. You expected A, and got B.

The acting was fine, the effects were good, the air of mystery about the aliens wasn't totally removed. it's not a 5 star movie, but it's definitely not lower than a 3.

But that's the whole point of what Mandu just said. If it's a problem with the game, but only combined with certain hardware/software setups, then it's not JUST the game, and much harder to fix. Dropping a ton of cash on all the latest bleeding edge hardware, running every antivirus program every hour like an OCD washing his hands ten times a day, and having a masters degree in Early Computer Languages doesn't mean you can rule out the user end of things, or any step upto and including the servers.

The "I'm so smart it can't be me" line is just crap. That's not being an apologist. That's just reality.
  22. This is the most I've seen you post in such a short time in a long time, Elf....you sure you're still doing fine?

Here's an example of the difference between an unplayable bug and something that just needs to be tweaked.

There's been thousands of ITFs run since they put it into the game. That third mission, while laggy as hell, hasn't stopped one of them from being completed. That falls into the "we'll adjust it when we have time" category.

Unplayable would be like the previous example where the mission couldn't be completed, if it happened every time a player went in, or most of the time if they had similar setups. Or a repeatable game crash. These are "we're working on solutions and will get them in the game as soon as we can" kind of stuff.

There are unplayable bugs getting fixed all the time. Just cruise through some old patch notes. Some of them pop back up on occasion when something else gets changed, but that doesn't mean they're not actively fixing bugs. Knowing they exist and knowing how to fix it are two very different steps in the process.
