(Canadian residents will be required to answer an additional mathematical question in order to claim their prizes)
I just had to laugh at this little snip from the official rules.

Still not understanding why a contest that's conducted totally within an imaginary world and rewards prizes that are contained within that world and have zero real-world monetary value trigger the need for these restrictions, but I don't make the rules.

Good luck to those who participate. If you'd be so kind, Dr Aeon, would you please post the entries in this thread, or in another at the conclusion of the contest, so we who are so inclined can play them? Too many junk arcs to weed through to find the good ones.
  2. More likely we'll see a revamp of current pools, rather than a brand new one to pick from. We'll still only get 4 pools + APP/Patron.

There's plenty of things that could be tweaked in existing pools that would make them all better, and wouldn't require as much work.
  3. Frankly, ambush waves in most of the missions could stand to come at a quicker pace. Most times, it's like they're not even there, even solo. Send em in two or three groups at a time. It would make more sense than waiting for the entire group to be defeated before the next one comes.

Maybe not at this mission's extreme, but there's room for improvement. With the way people can build characters now, stepping up general difficulty isn't a bad thing.

  5. 12 Angry Men - a classic morality tale with excellent acting.

I'd say To Kill a Mockingbird as well, but it's a few minutes longer than you'd like, though I'm sure you could squeeze it in somehow. It's a must see, especially if they never read the book.

having to wire together 24 sg mates who live in the same basement and pvp each other all day for the perfect setups...
I don't know why people keep saying this. You only need 3 SG mates. If your server runs Hami raids regularly, you should have plenty of people to pick from for CoP trials.

Champion runs CoP raids sub 15 mins all the time with PuGs as well as SGs.

Why does it never occur to most folks that if you defeat something that's been deemed "hard" by the developers in such a short time, maybe that's not how it's supposed to work? Teamwork and coordination can get you far, yes, but there's a difference between being efficient and being stupidly fast.
  7. I look at it this way:

That buff you get from slotting TOs might be small, but it only takes a small number to be the difference between hitting or missing, or killing something in one shot or two when you're at the last bit of your health.

Plus, I don't like looking at empty slots.

By the way, I slot accuracy TOs and DOs. Some players think its pointless, but to be frank most players think all sorts of odd things, not just restricted to accuracy. You can try to help players out, but at some point you can't target incorrect player perceptions and still have a remotely sane game.
This points to one of the great things about this game. It allows people (within a given range) to shape their powers how they choose, whether those choices are good ones or not. If they decide that heavily slotting a power for X is the way to go, they can do it. Their perceptions can mask what effects their strategies are actually accomplishing, but if they have more fun as a result of it, it really doesn't matter what they're doing. It's things like the streakbreaker, and soft caps, that keep these outlier players within shouting distance of the majority of the group. They can't gimp themselves (either by choice or by accident) too bad.

OG Voltron looked bulky because they wanted it to look like the toys they were selling, just like Transformers did back then. I don't have a problem with the look of the lions, nor of Voltron in this art, however I agree with the weirdness of him being on Earth.

And if you bother to look at thread topics in that forum, you'd see plenty of them dealing with new tech, building computers, etc, that all have nothing to do with technical support for this game.

This thread would do better over there.
  11. Didn't most of you that have been complaining about the content of this Pack do the same in the previous thread that announced the pack's contents?

Why do we need two threads of kvetching? How about we stick to complaints about things like not being able to buy the pack in the store, or bugs. The content of this pack is set in stone, not going to change. Either buy it or don't. I think they heard every complaint there is to hear in the last thread.

The next pack that makes 100% of the people happy will be the first.

I would like to point out to the people voting for Option 1 - you are assuming that you will approve of the changes. I wonder if anyone will log on an older character and realize that a beloved costume no longer works because there's now too much detail, a seam, or a change more drastic than expected. Taking options away, regardless of how useless a certain percentage of people find them, is always going to sadden another percentage of people.
You're also assuming that you'll hate the changes before you see them. See how this works? If you never use something, it's not really an option anymore, is it... There are 5 costume slots for a reason. They don't expect people to stick to one costume for the entire life of their character.

Some people just need to realize that they're playing a game with other people and understand that sometimes design decisions don't go their way. This goes for powers, game play mechanics, content, AND artwork/costumes. No matter what decision David makes, it's not going to make everyone happy. There is no such thing as an option that 100% of the player base will like better than the status quo.

The level of fearing change in this thread is bordering on silly.

    Day Job Accolade

Are you playing a character that is either Rogue or Vigilante at the moment? If you are, you need to switch all the way to Hero or Villain to actually have the accolade award. You're earning the credit for the Day Jobs just fine no matter what alignment you are, but some badges don't award until you are fully Hero or Villain.

Also, sometimes day job badges don't award upon log in. You get the message in the chat window that says you got it, but your progress bar will still be visible instead of the badge. Zoning usually fixes this.

Noble Savage himself supported option 1. So instead we bow to the minority, what sense does that make? Clearly my opinion was shared by around 66%, apparently OUR opinions are completely invalid. Get off your high horse.
Just about everyone, voting Option 1 or 2, stated in one form or another that they wanted a revamp of the menu/editor either instead or in addition to whatever changes the individual pieces get. Instead of breaking David's balls for "caving in to the minority" you should thank him for listening to EVERYONE and reconsidering the need to spend time reworking the costume editor.

If he were dead set on doing something, he never would have asked us for an opinion. Asking with the intention of never listening has been done in the past, with poor results.

Batman isn't the only character whose costume or gear isn't portrayed as they would be in real life...because the comic world is not real life.

Artist's prerogative. That's all it is.
  17. The funny part is that when the Community Reps posted a lot, people protested that they wanted to hear more things directly from the Developers, especially when things were changing. We get more posts from Devs, and now people wonder where the Community folks went...

Can't have it both ways, people. CRs only tell us what's ready to be told. If the Devs are too busy to tell the CRs what to tell us, or don't have anything new to report, the CRs stay silent and focus on community events.

I'm betting one reason you're not seeing much in the way of Community Surveys or the like is because they've already gathered enough information from past queries to keep themselves busy for quite a while. Why keep asking about future requests when you've already got more than enough on the plate right now? When the wish list reaches a certain level of completeness, they'll start up the surveys again.
  18. Are people screaming for more choice because they actually fear losing particular costume pieces, or are they just arguing "choice for choice's sake?"

If you don't have a dog in this hunt, saying "More choices is better" doesn't really hold much water. If you've got one character that has one costume that uses a legacy piece...I'm sorry, but that's not a reason to hold up progress, or make things even more convoluted by having more options.

You want more options. Are you really going to use them? Are you holding on to legacy bits because that's actually the look you want, or is it only there because it's "better than nothing?" The Art Department can do better than give us square pegs and a hammer for our round holes, and they're trying to do that right here.
  19. Option 1. Replace legacy pieces in the current menu with higher rez stuff, and then take the legacy stuff and call it something else. If people want to use a low rez tank top for something else, don't call that piece a tank top anymore, to avoid the confusion. If I want a tank top, I want to see something that actually looks like fabric and not body paint.

Costumes in source materials get updated all the time, to keep up with the culture (and they get more detailed as the artists improve their techniques and change mediums). No reason that can't happen in the game as well. If the Art Department's goal is to make the game more visually appealing, then they should have full authority and free reign to axe anything that just screams "old and busted" when paired with something new and shiny.

We know that the cape is detachable from the cowl part... but it gets more tricky the cap is attach to a steel gorget that doesn't seem to be directly attached to the gorget because if it were it would be too stiff. On the other hand the cowl has been shown to be ripped apart but we never see anything underneath. This can't be because there are lenses, electronics, and is bullet proof. If it didn't have not just a tight fit but a head structure something like a military helmet it would cause batman to have a concussion...

This structure is always referred to but never accurately shown... Wonder what people would think if they saw it...would that lessen what Batman is by showing it?

Also, when you think about it, the Bat-suit in the movie, is way off the mark for what it would look like in reality given what we know about the suit... it would look more like the comic given Batman's disposition and training... the suits in the movies don't make much sense >.>

i wonder if there is any illustrations of the complete suit in detail as they would be.
I think you're thinking about this the wrong way. Bruce Wayne has access to bleeding edge technology and materials. Why wouldn't he (or Lucious Fox) be able to design things that look like what we've seen?
  21. They're going with "it's easier to be too harsh and back off than be too light and have to tighten up" philosophy.

I don't blame Microsoft. I blame the customers that force them to make these kind of decisions.
