Didn't get to watch it till a little bit ago (on Hulu). Scales looks like he might be an interesting character. I was worried there wasn't anything special about him other than a skin condition, but it seems he's a bit tougher than he looks.
Other than wondering why Cape would be carrying a gun, the show was good. I think he needs more gadgets, though, especially working with a techie like Orwell, though I suppose that would make him a little too much like Batman. -
Or be a good kid and upgrade your mom's computer.

Quote:The fact that you expect something from a science fiction world to be 100% realistic means you fail to grasp the meaning of fiction.Actually it's called Science Fiction.
It's still incredibly unlikely that you'd have four very close star systems which started out with enough "almost good enough" planets to do that much terraforming, assuming we knew this civilization was advanced enough to do massive terrforming like that in the first place.
I realize my point here is a bit nitpicky. But I just figure they did such an awesome job with the map to begin with it's just too bad it's not 100% realistic.
It's ok to accept FTL, sentient robots, etc, but it's not ok to accept that in the vast emptiness of space there's a possibility a group of planets might be out there in the fashion the BG universe says there is?
You must be a hoot at parties. -
Quote:But the thing is, see, this CAN be obtained by everyone. It's not reliant on someone having to grind the crafting badges, or hunting for 4 different enemy groups, or completing X,Y, and Z TFs. Vet rewards are the easiest things in the game to get. All you have to do is keep paying and you're guaranteed to get them if the game is still running. And if you quit the game or the game quits you before you get it, you're not missing out on anything but getting to be extra lazy.I'll have these rewards soon enough. I like 'em.
But... I have to add my voice to the 'remote auction house access is too good' crowd.
There should be other ways to obtain this ability. At the very least, a base item should be added that allows for auction house access. At the very least.
I do very much appreciate the QoL improvement. But something of this significance should be obtainable, at least in part, by everyone. Especially when, as has been pointed out, the precedent has already been set with the workbench and the AE tablet.
So. Yah. Base item would be neat. And while you're a it, how about a tailor object for bases as well?
There is zero wrong with Devs putting in something that will be obtainable instantly by some, and then obtained at a later date by the rest. It doesn't matter how desirable that thing is. -
First of all, welcome back to the game.
1) They were doing server maintenance on the support/store server the other day which might be part of your problem.
2) In general, sometimes it takes a day or two for any changes to accounts to kick in.
3) It's a weekend, so you won't get much of a response till Monday or Tuesday anyway.
Good luck trying to get back in. There's a lot of new things for the both of you to try out. -
Slightly annoying "bug" is not worth the amount of angst being generated by this thread.
Type slower and adapt. Not a big deal. Teams will still form in a timely fashion. -
If you're coming from the Fight Club area (on blueside of Pocket D), as soon as you come through the entryway into the main dance floor, hang a left and go between the wall and the ramp. There's a nook back there with a sewer entrance, and it's kind of foggy back there.

Quote:They could do that.....Unless it's something that's "naughty" (wink) or clearly copyrighted (frown) already and your being denied cause it's banned... then it's likely been snagged by some player. It might not even be by someone that still plays/pays.
They really need to up the character level that names get tossed back or just have no max level on generic-izing names of characters on accounts that haven't seen the light of day for years. It might hurt the odd old-timer but it would help with all these new folks they seem to want to join up. I think it's a foolishly low level for that just now. 12-14 tops, and considering you can get to 14 in a single day (or even farther) these days that's just too bloody low to set the name time limit/holdie thing at.
Personal opinion.
Mind you, I wouldn't let such a policy effect accounts in good standing or even ones that come back every 3-6 months or whatever. An account that's been dead for more then a year? 2 years?!? 3 or more?!!? Yah... you took your chances. I say go for it! Generisize em' baby! ;p Let em keep their 50s' names if your feeling nice, but that would be it.
I'm mean aren't I?
or people could just get more creative with names. This game is almost 7 years old and people haven't scratched the surface on all the good names. -
Quote:They made it pretty clear from the first episode that the cape was special. I'm not sure what the problem is here. The series is ok but one thing does bug me about it. It was made very clear that these heroes and villains have no super powers. Some have nifty gadgets. Some have maximized human potential due to genetics and training. But none have mutant or mystical or otherwise superhuman powers.
But by the third episode the cape is already able to constrict like a snake, and rip a closed door off a car.
It's nit picking but I hate it when a series about heroes doesn't stick to a continuity. It s something that wouldn't be allowed (or would be held to a minimum) in any other genre of show. House isn't suddenly going to start doing parkour and Castle isn't suddenly going to start using a gun with bullets that can curve around corners. But those kind of changes without regard to continuity or common sense are considered standard for superhero shows.
It's no wonder they aren't taken seriously and can't hold an audience. -
With all the debuffs you'll be throwing around, you don't need to worry about healing your pets as much in the higher levels. Plus if you take Dark Servant you'll have another healer (though you can't control when it chooses to heal).
It works awesome with my Ninjas and they're some kamikaze folk sometimes. -
I thought this was a pretty solid episode. I like how they wove the previous user of the cape into the story. Pacing seemed fine to me, and next week's episode looks like a good one as well.
Whoever called the bit about Orwell being the daughter of the Big Bad Guy wins a cookie. -
Quote:Your "real issues" are someone elses "bells and whistles", and vice versa. I guess it only works one way with you, though, right? So let me get this straight. I work my tail off earning these things and now you are giving them away?
What the bloody hell?!
I am completely getting disinterested in the game. I feel right now you publish a lot of bells and whistles hopefully no one notices you have done nothing about the real issues with the game.
Base Builders being ignored. Bad content. Prometheans not able to contribute to SGs until level 20 crippling SGs, we have made our lists.
Releasing something you already have avail. Way to go! 7 Years and this is your best idea?
This makes me a sad, Troll.
You forgot to mention PvP, AE, and end game content, btw. Slipping on your DOOM posting. -
Quote:Send a direct PM to Synapse. If you're waiting for someone to sift through emails that went to developers that are no longer employed, you're gonna wait a while. So I've re-opened this case, again, with support, who again, has advised me to post here. I've yet to see any response to this thread from any of the dev/community team. I was hoping maybe with recent staff changes, there might be some motion, but hope's a funny thing sometimes.
Castle didn't really deal with IO sets as much as the powers themselves anyway. -
Quote:*strikes a heroic pose*I cannot thank you guys enough. Following your advice, here is what I did:
- Upgraded all 25 IOs to 45 IOs (cost about 15 mil)
- Repeced with more recharges in Flashfire so I can lead with it every fight
- Kept Tough and Weave each 3 slotted with Def/Res IOs
- Switched to the psi epic for the mezz protection and the psi armor
- Started popping Def insp before fights
- Started tracking who mezz'd and who I need to lock down better
Now it is much, much more fun. I love the action of the fire/kin - I am always on the edge of my seat. I can't just stand there and melt them - I need to be on top of Transfusion, my Siphons, etc. to stay ahead of the fight - not to catch up after it goes down hill.
The end result is I was able to set my diff to +1 and say I am equal to 3 heroes and have fun running missions.
I also joined the suggested Virtue LFG groups. I'll try them tonight now that I am all set again.
Thank you! The right spec and tactics make all the difference in the world
Then our work here is done. Go forth and stop evil.
*flies off into the sunset* *cue outro and credit roll* -
Interesting to see how there's so many interpretations of what makes a TF fun or not fun. No wonder the Devs have such a hard time.
My threshold for a TF to be not fun is when there's no AV at the end to fight (or anywhere else in the TF). That's when it being a string of regular mishes really stands out. -
Quote:What you're describing is the Sean Connery version, however, we also got the Roger Moore version, which I hope never gets imitated again. Maybe it was a product of the times those movies were made in, but I always thought Moore's movies were the worst of the bunch. He always seemed to succeed by happy accident more than actual skill or cunning. I'd rather have a competent guy that actually looks and acts like he's been trained to do what he's doing.YEEESSS!!!
I swear, society has made me HATE the words "gritty" and "realistic" something fierce.
**** it, WHY would I want a "realistic" Bond? Isn't that what frickin' Jason Bourne and Jack Bauer are for? I always liked Bond cause he was a smooth talking kind of spy; the dashing rogue archetype. He was one of those rare protagonists who seemed to be really enjoying himself. Something I always find refreshing since so many are obsessed with revenge, haunted by their past, angsting over their life, or any combination of the former.
But no, we couldn't take the James Bond character and ACTUALLY try and breath some new life into the series while still maintaining the legacy and feel of the character.
Naw, we'll just turn him into Jason Bourne. Those movies made a lot of money, right? Let's just do that and throw on the usual buzzwords; "gritty and realistic".
Gag me with a ****ing spoon. -
Quote:I agree with your general point, but there is something to be said for having a social life where you interact fully with another human being (see them, hear them, touch them, etc) rather than interaction through the internet, or the phone. Are you truly interacting with people when you're hiding behind an online persona? I know a lot of RL things about several people in this game, but I've never actually seen any of them in person. They could have been lying to me about everything and I'd never know (and I could do the same).
Generally, when people discuss social interaction and MMOs, they tend to focus on what they supposedly take away from us. People less often focus on the fact that although we may sacrifice the ability to have a face to face interaction, we meet and befriend people in demographics so different from our own that we would never have met otherwise. Personally, I feel this has given me a greater awareness and appreciation for different types of people.
Interacting "in the real world" involves a lot more vulnerability on your own part than having internet friends does. You might send each other Christmas cards, you might even see each other at Meet and Greets or conventions once or twice a year, but your daily interactions with them aren't the same as being in the same room as them. On the internet, you only know what I allow you to know, and you have to take it on faith that I'm being truthful. When you're in a club sitting across from the person you're talking to, you can't hide certain facts, like your height/weight/sex/race. There's a big difference in the two.
I think the point of the study is more about how much interacting "gamers" (and by extension other people that spend a lot of time in front of a computer) miss out on, and that long-term periods of isolation could be harmful (like the analogy of eating sugar all the time. It fills you up for a while, but the long term effects aren't good.). I disagree with the premise that there's a large, harmful effect, but I think there is a difference in the type of social interactions, and balance is needed. -
Sometimes the simplest answers are the best.
Pop Lucks before a fight, and BFs if you get hit. As many have said, inspirations are there for a reason. Using them frequently doesn't mean you're a bad player.
If you've got a base with Empowerment stations, you can also craft buffs that can help you with trickier missions. -
Quote:It was decent because it didn't try to be great...Even Pajiba who lives to rip on movies couldn't do it. They said it was a decent enough film because it didn't try to be a great film. It if tried to be great, then it would have sucked, and I'm perfectly fine with that. It just doesn't mean I'm going out to a theater and spending even matinee money on it. Review
Setting the bar lower might get a few more bucks, but it sure doesn't win much respect. -
It's a reboot in the same sense that a comic gets "rebooted" when a different writer picks up the title and does something different with it, ignoring things that previous writers did because it doesn't fit in to the new story.

Quote:Wait...you think that a highly intelligent teenager making webshooters is implausible, but a bite from a radioactive spider that creates natural webshooting from his wrists (not from his rear, which is where it should be if he's a spider) is plausible?
But I absolutely disagree with web-shooters If they ever went down that path. Stan's original concept or not... It just doesn't make sense for a teenage schoolboy to be capable of inventing a scientific breakthrough like infinite supply of super-strong webbing and its practicle application through wrist-shooters in his bedroom. Totally dumb idea - just-don't-go-there. >.< -
Quote:"Hey Moe, what's that?"Hey, using a flamethrower to cook your burgers and brats may be slightly more costly and inconvenient, but you DEFINITELY get points for style!
"It's an industrial-sized deep fryer. I got it from a decommissioned naval ship. It can flash-fry a buffalo in 45 seconds."
"Awww...45 seconds? But I want it now!"
