  1. Thanks for the update. Good luck to both of you with your schooling.
  2. Is it bad that the first thing I notice about this project is that the opening entries are a fat, white kid and an Asian? I don't think he could have gotten any more stereotypical than that.

Interesting that the poor kid with the breathing mask has an avatar that also wears a full mask.

It was handled poorly because a few people didn't see it? Sorry, just not buying that.

This isn't something important that everyone had to know. If it was, you'd have seen the kind of announcements you've blamed Marketing for not using.

Enough people saw it and made use of it that the company made a profit. That's all Marketing is around for.

I mean they will have Hulk and Thor, obviously both very powerful. Then you add in ironman who though no powers i guess the suit becomes the balancing act there. But then its Capt A(super powered but within somewhat basic means) Black Widow(unpowered) and Hawkeye(unpowered).

It just seems like they run the risk of having characters with either to much power or to little for whatever they put in front of them.
This is why you rarely see an entire team doing one task, or taking on one threat. They pick the people that have necessary skills, unless the world's about to snuff it, then it's all hands on deck.

No. Marketing just doesn't have any obligation to carve an announcement into the face of the moon every time they do something. People miss things. It's not the end of the world.

Every player is aware of the forums, either by frequent use, just reading them, or indirectly when they log in. We've been given a tool, and it's up to use to use it or not. It's also up to each player to keep their contact information up to date if they want announcements sent in that fashion.

If a player says "I didn't know X" and then follows up with "I don't read the forums," telling them to read the forums more is a perfectly valid response.

    Thor

Saw it. Loved it. 2D is perfectly fine to watch it in, so save the cash.

    Bring on Captain America!
  7. Stuff like this would also be very useful for quadriplegics. They could eventually have tech that could steer their wheelchairs around without having to blow into a straw, or they could have a cybernetic hand and could flip the bird at people that piss them off

Cool tech almost always has weird beginnings.
  8. Dated:

    Doc Savage #2
    Batman #268
    X-Men #95

    For sale:

    Howard the Duck #1
    Warlord #1
  9. Finally saw the trailer in front of a movie in the theater today (Thor). It's sufficiently epic to me on the big screen. Bring it on!
  10. Thanks again, Z, for keeping us in the loop.

It wasn't about the badge for me. To me, the issue was trying to do an event on one server when there's already a queue involved. With the ability to switch characters without getting off of the server, you'd have less people being able to log in than there used to be, especially in a three hour window.

    Thor

Making it a double feature with Free Comic Day tomorrow. The comic store I go to is real close to a theater.

Anyone that's seen it already in 3D, is it worth the extra cash? I haven't really seen anything in trailers that makes me think the 3D version will be better, but those are just trailers.
  12. OP:

If you assume (without proof) that the Devs have decided that the entire Incarnate system is going to be nothing but large team raiding, I could see how you'd come to the conclusions you have.

The Devs haven't, up to this point, stated any such thing, however. In fact, they've been telling us lately that they're working on alternatives to what they've already given us, for those with your sensibilities.

It's up to you how patient you want to be, waiting for that new content, but please don't say that the end game is nothing but raiding, because that is just false. We haven't even seen half of what the entirety will be, to know one way or the other.
  13. Does it make any sense at all to blame others for greed, when the only one that controls how much you pay for something is you?

Is it just me, or is that the dumbest thing ever?

    Here's how it works:

You form a team at the minimum for the Trial you're about to run, you queue the group in. IF there is no one else queuing into the system for the same Trial before the one min timer finishes, you'll just have yourselves once you're inside, and the only way outsiders could join is if one of your team dropped off and put you below the minimum. If there are people waiting, and you're not at the max, you'll pick up the stragglers.

You could always quit and re-enter the queue, but that's not really an acceptable workaround for some.
  15. Now it's time to teach you the secret handshake.....

Someone come up with a handshake and we'll teach it to him

Glad you're having fun on Champion.
  16. Rather than repeat, I'll try to come up with a few that haven't been mentioned yet:

    - Revamped Faultline zone: They turned a zone that no one went unless they absolutely had to into one that people wanted to go to. The storylines, the special store, the flavor of having Arachnos breaching Paragon from the other side of the Dam, the whole zone is cool. It hasn't resulted in more full revamps yet (outside the RWZ...see below), but the possibility is still there, and we see what they can do when they want to.

    - Ouroboros Portal: It's made us all lazy, but damn if you jones for it when you're below 25.

    - Wings, rocket boots, etc: Stuff that not only looks cool, but does more than just sit there. Attention to detail is always welcome.

    - Goodbye Rikti Crash Site. Hello Rikti War Zone: Co-op missions, TFs, and a fun little Raid. It also ushered in the Invasion Zone events, which are fun when everyone's in the right spirit to do them.

    - Ding-Rezzing: Nothing sucked worse than when you were just about to level when you died.
  17. I wonder, with the Steampunk pack, if we'll finally see the Nemesis War Horse in-game....

Of course, given how often the devs and mods say that the majority of players don't read the forums, I can see a lot of angry people who didn't know getting their globals scewed

Players only have themselves to blame if they don't take advantage of the forums. Letting people start threads about whatever pops into their head is only one function they serve. They can argue that they didn't know, but they should have.

As such it's more a tax for making a mistake. It's not like we're paying a tax for doing an easier task (ITF) and converting the component into something better or harder to obtain (Penumbra of Rularuu).

All the components are awarded for the same exact task, and all the conversions are for items of the same value. In essence you're only paying in order to change a component you can't use into one you can use. But both items are obtained in exactly the same manner and should have exactly the same worth. So I don't feel the rate should be cost-prohibitive. It would make more sense to me if the conversion cost was a small, reasonable amount of threads not tied to the overall cost of the component itself.
The cost of doing business has to be large enough to make it worth putting in in the first place, otherwise it might as well all be free, and then you might as well not have choices because it won't matter what you pick.

The Incarnate system is designed to take more thought than IOs. It's not too much to ask to expect the players to invest more time and energy thinking about what they're going to do before they do it. You really shouldn't even HAVE to side-convert. Those that find that they need to will learn to pay better attention by paying some threads. If the cost to convert is prohibitive, there is always the old-fashioned way of getting what you need (running more trials). They've actually given players a choice of either spending more time, or spending threads.
  20. Mine you get one, but if you buy something, you can get as many as you want.

Not very many I'd be interested in at first glance this year. I'll have to peruse.
  21. For those of you, like me, that don't get to frequent your local comic shop as much as you'd like, here's your reminder about Free Comic Book Day.

    This year's lineup

And here is this year's collectible goodie.

Wait till the 7th to pick up your pulls, and kill two birds with one stone

Never trust a trailer. Every line you hear is out of context

Maybe they wanted people to give the new stuff a try first, instead of just ignoring it right out of the gate and complaining about how slow it is to earn things the non-intended way. Crazy, I know, but I'm sure they'd love for people to use the content they spent months working on.

The only thing I wish the Devs could have done better about the whole thing was to try to get more trials than just the two in this Issue. That would have meant delaying it even longer, but it might have been worth it. Much of the complaining would have either been alleviated or severely lessened by simply having more than A or B as a choice for earning the new components. Make the additional ones for smaller sized teams (but still teams....not soloing) and lower the rewards down for them appropriately (more than you get from solo play, less than you get from larger Trials).
