Those characters weren't just all about one-liners and sight gags, though. They helped move the plot forward in some cases. They might have stumbled onto the magic maguffin when Jack and Co were too busy fighting each other to notice. For example, in the third movie, when the Pirates were trying to release Calypso, it was Wooden Eye that figured out how to speak to her.

I noticed when those characters weren't in this movie, and I found it odd that they weren't there. That kind of sucked a bit of immersion for me. Not much, but noticeable.

I don't think anyone official has said yet. My guess would be when Issue 21 hits, but that's just a guess.
  3. I was left wishing Blackbeard had been better written. Ian McShane was great (but it seemed like Swearengen from Deadwood without the cussing), but the didn't explain the zombies very much, or his sword and how he was able to control the Revenge with it.

I would have liked a more over-the-top version of Blackbeard, if they were going to go the supernatural route. He was overshadowed by Barbossa in the first movie and Davy Jones in the other two.
  4. The problem you'll have with wanting "as big a group of friends" as you want is scaling the difficulty level. There's a reason most games limit how many people are in your party.

Not having to control every party member sounds good on paper, but even a smart AI is still dumber than a human player, no matter how well you can program. It also won't account for doing things outside the box.

Final Fantasy 12 was solid in terms of combat options : you can setup commands for each character and/or directly command them. Forcing the players into a lack of control is not fun. Such a move only really works in games like Civilization where it would be less fun to have to choose individual attacks for a legion of 200 troops or something.

What you have listed basically sounds like FF 12's setup without the ability to choose specific actions for each mode, much less manually control each character. This basically means you are showing the player a world of potential and then teasing them with an extreme lack of control. Players like playing games, not letting the AI do it for them - those are called movies.
I don't know, the same concept worked pretty well for KOTOR. You set each of your teammates into a mode, equip them, and then let them do their thing, while you control your avatar directly.

It can be done, it just has to be done carefully. Limit choices at certain points by taking away characters (through the story), bring them back later, or by requiring that one of your friends has to come with you to do a certain task (if it's their quest, for example).

Most of those things you ticked off in that post are things that only YOU can control, no matter the system the Devs put in. In the very first part you mention an aversion to teaming with people you don't know. That's definitely something you can control. How did you ever find a group of people to play with at all if you didn't wade into the pool of dirty strangers and start playing with them? Can't you just do more of that?

Do the content at your own pace. There's no rule that says you have to grind just because the Jones are grinding. Come up with a better strategy to fit the characters your group chooses to play with. Do several other things before you just sit down with your hands crossed in front of you in full pout mode.

  8. Usually they work their way through the various instances. They'll start with Pocket D prime and then work through 1, 2, etc.

They might also split up between them and give codes away all at the same time. Best just to pick one at the beginning and stay there.

Holy 2 year old article, Batman!
  10. 20 for each piece, or 20 for the entire set?

For a full set that's reasonable.

If the tables had been switched, would you still be mad? I kind of doubt it.

There's no way to merge global lists without making someone change their names. They did it the best way they could. Time to move on.

This is bush league. To push a 'fix' that creates a new bug is ridiculous. This isn't a fix, you're just changing how the situation is broken, and in a manner that will piss off your players who use aoe powers with the reactive proc. It's very discouraging to see you guys operating like this.
They decided that leaving it as is was worse than putting in a different, but not as power-breaking bug. Those decisions get made all the time when the bugs aren't game-breaking, have to shut the servers down before they melt bugs.
  15. Curious question about your strategy for running through the TF, Residentx10:

Are you clearing every mission, including actually completing the rescue mission everyone likes to fail to save time?

If you're clearing, I could see how you'd be getting more shards than most see, but if you're running the usual speed runs, where someone goes and gets Penelope and TPs back to the front, rushes through the War Riders, lets the Mitos kill the Rikti in the Hami mission, lets Infernia and Glacia die, and then just skip right to the Honoree fight, there's just not enough killing to justify getting 10 shards a run without their being some kind of bug going on.

Also, try running several TF runs with a team of all 50s and see how you do.

I almost always get the most shards running ITFs. It's the one TF most folks are fine with clearing each mission, in my experience.

    Angel - Sam the Eagle

Colossus - Sweetums...but with tinsel instead of hair!

    Iceman - ??

    Kitty - ??

    Jean/Phoenix - ??
    Gonzo could be Nightcrawler
  17. The angle is looking down from above, so it would make the guys at the far end of the stage look taller than the guys in the foreground. Will Sasso is a large man. He'll be taller than the other two, like he should be.

    Obligatory Sofia Vergara mention.
  18. Just for general information, it gives you that message when they are still spooling up the servers at the end of maintenance/patching. Once the techies give the all clear on their end, then they let us back into the sandbox. There's a window where the status says open but it's technically only open on their end as they do their checks.

    So Firefly...

To be fair to the movie, it's really hard to tie up loose ends from a TV series into one 90 min movie, and still have a discernible plot.

If they ended all the plots and subplots, there wouldn't have been room to expand on anything in the comics and graphic novels we've seen come out since Serenity.

Those days are gone sadly. Getting some of the forum regulars to ADMIT that though is nearly impossible. Mainly because they are so 'head in the sand' with their own tiny tight nit groups that they don't even notice. When their long time SG's start leaving is when they realize times have changed.

Years ago the easy answer about finding teams was forming them yourself. This just isn't as easy as it used to be. Though they wouldn't know because they only team with friends...

    See the pattern?

I miss those days. I'm a member of Paragon City Search and Rescue. We were formed alongside the Taxibots as a paramedic service for Heroes. We used to patrol Atlas and Hollows doing drive by heals and offering rez etc. Was so much fun. These services just aren't as needed in todays game though, so much of the old theme groups, the bots, PCSAR and the like are still around, we just aren't needed in those rolls nowdays.

The claim that this game is instanced so it just feels empty holds no water either. This game has always been instanced. Doesn't change the fact that the streets are empty now...

Anyways, just wanted to chime in and let you know you aren't alone in the feeling. Though I doubt a merge would do much to help. In fact, the grumpy ol vets are probably right about that one fact. Merging servers would be seen by players and industry at large as the death notice and I'd expect to see players jumping ship as a result.
Alas, now that the endgame is here (and not for me) this game is heading into it's twilight.

Hopefully this means they are hard at work on the follow up game though! I needs my Paragon after all. "
The best reply you heard was the only one that agreed with you....

Why'd you even bother to ask?

I dislike the entire *idea* of Lore Pets, but at least they'd be more paletable if they fit into (primal) canon more.

Devs have said they're planning on adding more options. I know for sure they've mentioned Carnies and Arachnos, and there will likely be a couple of more. I believe they want to put them in with I 20.5, but definitely by 21.

Nevermind I keep forgeting some of the powers team are new. I am pretty sure Castle knew about this. Just do a sweep of all AV critters and set a hard cap on them of 95% resistance so this wont be a problem anymore.
A simple "Thanks for looking into it" would have sufficed, but that would mean actually being civil.

You do know that Black Scorpion hasn't been around since Issue 7, right? Or at least not the one in charge of powers? Somehow, despite all your volumes of posts about it, the problem probably wasn't very high on the "gotta fix it now" list.

Hard capping AVs to be all the same is NOT the best solution. What's wrong with them being a little different from each other? It's not like a diverse team can't take them all down with ease.

Then as for listing salvage for more than one influence, it suggests you are trying to "Make money" rather than just pass it along to someone who could use it at that moment. As others have mentioned its simply an inefficient way to go about doing it and your market slots would be better used for something with a much higher profit margin. What is worse is if you are just doing it as stuff drops, you aren't even filling 10 stacks meaning its *Much* worse for trying to make influence.

The funny thing being... Its probably been over a year and a half since I was into the buying/relisting/selling phase. I don't do it anymore because I don't need to. So my only interaction with the market is selling whatever drops and buying something when I need it. The principle still stands though, if you are listing salvage for 100k it suggest you are trying to make money. Annnnnnd you are going about it in a very inefficient way.

Like a dirt farmer in a world where money grows on trees.

So play how you like. If you like farming dirt? More power to you. Its your 15 bucks a month.
My goal is to craft dropped recipes that I have and sell them, and then sell any extra salvage I have that people want to spend inf on. I'm not flipping, I'm not looking for the biggest payouts, I don't buy recipes just to craft and resell.

I've acquired almost 6 billion over all my characters (15 or so that I play or have played regularly) "farming dirt" as it were. It might not ring up the big, shiny numbers for me, but it works just fine, thanks. If the trickle is steady, and you're making more inf than you're putting into it, it adds up faster than you think.

There's more than one way to make inf in this game. Your way is only one of them. Don't pretend it's the best way, or the only way.

    RIP Macho Man

RIP, Macho Man. Go walk down that aisle to that big wrestling ring in the sky, with Miss Elizabeth looking her best beside you.

Many a day was spent in the backyard dropping elbows from "the top rope" and cutting awesome promos.
