  1. Slow seems to be an underutilized debuff. I know my ice blaster likes it, but I hope that more foes are affected by this set. There's a lot of enemies that seem to shrug slow effects off. I guess the Delayed mechanic will aid that.

Interesting to see how this set will stack with other power sets.
  2. I think the reason you're not going to see any of what you've listed fixed is because they're less "issues" and more "annoyances."

Issues lean toward making the game, or specific feature, unusable, or at least not worth the trouble to overcome for the majority of the playerbase. They don't have kludges or shortcuts around them.

Annoyances are apparent, but they can easily be dealt with or avoided, like making sure to drop Rest into your tray manually.

You might consider those things more than just annoyances, but it's pretty obvious that the Devs don't, or more of them would be fixed by now.

I think you just stumbled on the meaning of Trial. It's supposed to be harder than a TF. For some, its a timer tacked on to make you rush, for others, it's more objectives at the same time.

Well, that and it takes ten full minutes to explain what to do, to those who are unfamiliar. With BAF and Lambda, a person can pretty much follow along. Not so much Keyes.
You're still running into people that either haven't done one at all, or haven't done a successful one. This was the case for all new content at one point, and like the old content, you won't have to explain how Keyes works after a time. Not something to be concerned about, unless you just don't like being organized.

The whole notion is moot. Paragon/NCSoft is not going to do it, so prognosticating its effect on the game is pointless. This game is not those other games, and not just because we don't have lifetime subs and they do. Trying to predict what would happen based on other games that are not us is silly.
  6. Lol.

You don't like the invention system, you almost quit because of it, but now you're slowly heading down the path to fully using it. What exactly are you gonna spend all the inf you make selling stuff on? SOs are cheap.

Also keep in mind, and I don't think anyone mentioned this, but if you want to skip the crafting process, the only place you can buy crafted IOs is the market.

You'll be rolling in generic IO recipes at all levels, and generally the salvage needed as well, so crafting generics isn't as tedious nor as expensive as crafting Set IOs. Generic IOs only need common salvage, which can flux in price, but is generally always cheap. Get the Market Day Job to earn discount coupons for crafting, and it gets even cheaper. You can dabble in the crafting side without going crazy trying to figure out what sets, with what bonuses you want.

That last one's fascinating to me--I would've thought a specific elemental power like that would be more niche, but if forum tastes are anything to go by, it's more than that.

That's what I'm here to find out though, so thanks for the insight.
It's a specific elemental power that could be translated to other elements, like maybe rock/sand sliding, a la Terra or Toph (earth bender), or something that looks more like water (if you can ever get flowing water powers to look right), or even some sort of tornado-riding power. Ice is a more commonly chosen power set, so it would make sense to start there, but there are other elements.

The fact that the channels have different qualities is a good thing.
Anyone care to dispute that the only difference between the two channels is that one has/had a certain person in it and the other one doesn't? How is that not "I'm taking my ball and going over here?"
  10. I'm going to go with Manticore for something different. Specifically, his headgear. It's a unique look and stands out from some of the more generic, "we can come close to this in the editor" styles.

Villain side I've always liked Mako's style the best. The shark-like face, the unique clawed hands, and the amphibian skin really sell it.
  11. Thanks for the effort, Ping, but let me just say that it's sad that you had to lay it out like that in the first place.

I guess it goes under the "if common sense were common, more people would have it" category.

    Cowboys & Aliens

I liked the movie. The special effects were well done, the aliens and their tech were cool, and there was some good (for a cowboy movie) character growth by Ford.

I think if it had come out in the spring it would have stood up on it's own better, but it's coming on the heels of two blockbuster movies. Unfortunately, that will probably bring down the reviews to a point lower than it deserves.

What he's implying is that the drama level gets cranked up an extra notch or two when Virtue is involved. Just because it's stereotypical doesn't mean it's not true.

  15. Which is worse?:

Having 2XP weekend as scheduled, but having so many problems with it that they end up turning it off early and rescheduling it anyway, or preventing a huge headache by creating a tiny one in comparison by just fixing the problem first and then turning on 2XP later?

Everyone that has some sense would much rather play 2XP without the extra bugs. The extra lag is enough to deal with.

That said there are a few things I think would make the model even more of a success:

    Forum Access for All

Every F2P game I've ever tried allows read/write access to their forums. Why? Because they know getting involved with the community gets people to stick around, and people who stick around spend money.

The fear I suppose is gold spam getting posted. But go look at the forums for any given F2P title: how much spam do you see?

    Supergroup Memebership for Free Players

Getting involved with the community is very important in MMO retention, and retention is very important in F2P MMOs to get people to spend money. A free player who is allowed to join a Supergroup is much more likely to stick around, and therefore much more likely to spend money.

This also improves the game experience for VIP players as they have a larger pool of Supergroup mates to team up with.

    Consignment House Access for All

The more people involved in an economy, the better that economy is for all involved. By allowing free players access to the Consignment House, they get a better game experience and VIP players get a better game experience as well as the economy is improved by the participation of a larger pool of players.

Mission Architect Play Access for All

Though I agree Arc creation should be limited to VIP/Vet Premium players, the ability to play Mission Architect arcs improves the game experience for VIP players who create MA arcs as one of the biggest issues with MA is getting your arcs played. With more people able to play, VIP MA authors get a better experience than they otherwise would.

City of Heroes: Freedom is looking to be a great success, but with these changes I feel that it could be even more successful and improve the game experience for all involved.
Those are all things they can pay money separately for, and still not have a regular subscription if they wish. The system has already addressed those concerns.

  18. Great movie.

If I had to pick something to nitpick, I would have liked to see a few more minutes of Cap in the present time, but that's a minor thing. Hopefully there will be a nod to his adjustment to waking up 70 years later in The Avengers.

    Fixed for accuracy.

The people that state their beefs and move on with their lives get positive attention. The ones that keep beating that dead horse no matter the topic will be labeled (correctly) as a malcontent, no matter how much they love the rest of the game. Throw in those that "cry wolf" and threaten to quit the game every time something changes they don't like, yet are still shelling out for the sub, and those folks earn their scorn.

Teaser Trailer. They never show you much. One that does isn't a teaser anymore.

I'm not sure which of their "coming soon" videos you think was better than this one. None of them showed much of any one thing, especially if the Issue had a lot of different stuff coming into the game.

  23. Welcome back, Elf. Looks like for the most part life is treating you well. I missed the challenge of trying to make sense of your posts.

Condolences to you and your GF. Hopefully that won't happen again if you guys try for another. My best friend and his wife have been trying for 14 years with no luck keeping a bun in the oven. They've gone the adoption route now.
