There's a restaurant that I used to frequent every week before I moved. One day that I'd been planning to go I came down with a cold and decided I wasn't in the mood which turned out to be lucky for me. The next time I went the windows and doors on the corner of the restaurant had been boarded up. Turns out that the day I'd been planning to go but then didn't at about the time I normally go, some idiot tried to pull into a parking space by the restaurant while going way too fast and wound up plowing through the corner of the restaurant before stopping. They not only completely destroyed the windows and doors but they also ran over a table at which four people were eating, sending a couple of people to the hospital.

Gotta say the woodchipper scene was great. I hope Bobby finally got to have his pie/cobbler/whatever.

Good episode though it kind of bugged me that they just made Brainiac 5 the original Brainiac. I realize that they didn't really want to go into Querl Dox's origin and it was easier to just go with Brainiac with some software updates but it still annoyed me. Still a good episode.

Lately I've noticed a lot of people pulling out of parking lots don't stop until they're sticking well out into the first lane of traffic where cars have to move over into the next lane to avoid hitting them.

Standard revenge flick given a supernatural twist. Looks like I might enjoy it but I probably won't catch it until it comes on TV.

No idea who he'll be playing but I'd say he's definitely up to the task of playing a Batman villain.

I wouldn't be so sure we're out of the recession just yet. I've been hearing a number of economists say we're in a double dip recession. Initial jobless claims continue to rise. Economic indicators like factory orders for durable goods remain down. Reuters just released a US economic growth forecast that doesn't look good. So I expect that the poor economy is playing a role here.

I have absolutely no interest in Jackass 3D while I might make a rare trip to the theater to see Red. I think Red looks like a fun movie and I'm hoping it will have more box office appeal than a movie about a bunch of idiots doing idiotic things. And I'm hoping the public has a much higher opinion of Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich, and Helen Mirren than they do of Michael Cera.

Quote:They could have sent people home but they couldn't have put a proper crew on board. As I was reminded when I said it just took a ZPM to dial Destiny, it actually took a lot more energy than that and there seems to be a shortage of places where that much energy is readily available.Honestly the most disapointing thing about this last episode was that they had created the perfect golden opprotunity to "fix" the show and passed it by.
This could have allowed them to off load the wasted meat of the passengers that dont need to be there, and bring on people actually skilled to do the jobs they need. As well as to get rid of the dead weight from the lucians, since it looks like only 1-2 of them are really going to have a plot point of being there at all anyway.
It would have allowed them to get more supplies and machines so were not always counting bullets I mean seriously at the end of this episode they could have had destiny really ready to have been the research experiment it was ment to be and brought on new casts, ditched the idiots like Chloe and the Mulan chick. Sent home the girl friends like TJ that are just going to be whinny characters now. Gotten real doctors on board, real soldier, real scientist to unlock destiny. And could have had the crew find out that Rush had control of the ship and had unlocked the bridge.
This could have been the jump point to really have made the show something that could continue forward and been more intresting. -
My wild *** theories...
The magical mystery aliens who created the planet and saved TJ's baby are the ascended crew of the Destiny. Even though they no longer have bodies they're still interested in the ship and keeping an eye on it. Separate from both the ascended of the Milky Way and the Orii, they don't have a strict hands off policy. Rush's hallucination is actually one of them interacting with him to try to understand what he's doing.
The new aliens are refugees from a war with the first aliens. The first aliens were trying to use Destiny to find the new aliens after they "hitched a ride" on the seed ship. The seed ship experienced a system failure because of the new guys have done something to it. They'll now learn English from Telford, fix the ship, and catch up to the Destiny. Possibly using a stargate to board her. If not actually proto-Asgard, they will fulfill a similar role as the Asgard in SGU, serving as mentors and advisors. -
I thought it was a nice nod to GAH when Jim said something about losing the instruction manual.

Quote:Given the time list, the "timid" isn't going to change. It's an hour when families watch television. They're not going to be killing a lot of people. Certainly the good guys aren't and the bad guys will mostly do it off screen where you know it happened but you don't actually see it.I noticed that too. My first thought was that guy was dead, and I was waiting to see how the father (What's the character's name, anyway? Are they all that forgettable?) was going to deal with the guilt of killing someone. But they punted on that.
Great SFX; tiny and timid scope. I'm hoping this will change. -

Quote:I'm thinking Steph didn't take action because she doesn't think like a superhero. She thinks like a normal person who just happens to have superpowers, which she only just got. It was a dimly lit room with lots of tables and innocent bystanders to navigate around without tripping or running into anything. I think her choosing to do nothing was fairly reasonable under the circumstances.I watched last nights episode with my wife who has no real interest in anything superhero related (her only real character flaw, but one I have learned to live with). Even she was wondering why the wife didn't just superspeed through the room taking all the guns away from the robbers in the first robbery. Apparently she is fast enough to have done so without risking anybodies safety or her identity, so it didn't make much sense why she didn't do so. Also, I really hate how they portray the daughters mind reading. It just looks like people mugging for the camera and it detracts from the story.
Other than that, it was ok. Not great, but I'll keep watching to see how things develop. -
I think they're slowly moving towards him wearing a mask. In the preview of next week's episode they showed him wearing a hoodie.
Overall I thought it was a decent episode though it was a bit painful watching JJ try to get the girl to like him by pretending to be Jewish. -
I'm thinking most people would be neither hero nor villain but would simply seek to profit from their powers without necessarily breaking the law.

Quote:He was probably a bit distracted by the bomb scare and perhaps thinking that doing something about a bomb takes priority over shooting a movie. Police officers tend to be unreasonable that way. Here's the link where I embedded a video report of the accident.
Here's a quote:
I hope no one was seriously hurt. But it does make me wonder what the cop was thinking. Did he just not notice a movie was being filmed in that location? Also, this is not the first time an accident has occurred while filming Transformers: The Dark of the Moon. A bad omen perhaps? >_> -
Not much of a spoiler since that's generally how they keep things up with these shows and its just a continuation from last season...Beckett with Demming, Castle with the actress or his one-that-got-away or Beckett's old friend...

I am shocked! Shocked to discover that people would use power to their own advantage!

Oh, I doubt anyone has missed it. It's just that last night's episode was significantly more than the usual brief flash we get.

I was more bothered by the lack of deformation in the bullets after they'd struck something.
