She wasn't crazed on The Unit.

Doesn't every Castle have some subtle Firefly reference, even if it's just something seen in the background?

  4. Maybe they should have called it Adamantium Dawn: Wolverine!

Well, they largely did the T1000 with Brainiac. Fact is they've used a number of villains from Superman's rogues gallery that could cause him trouble without resorting to kryptonite but for the most part they haven't used them well. Doomsday being the perfect example. They spend a lot of time setting up the climactic showdown between him and Clark and then the actual battle takes place off screen.
  6. I think one of the problems has been that until recently the technology just hasn't been there to do good looking special effects for superpowers. Just look at Spider-Man's webs from the 70's live action show for a good example. Then you add in that the budget isn't there to do lots of special effects, especially when it comes to live action TV shows, and its easy to understand why until recently superhero movies and TV shows have tended to focus on characters that are either unpowered or have easy to do superpowers like flight, superstrength, etc. Obviously the SFX technology is starting to reach the necessary level, it just needs to come down in price.
  7. You don't need kryptonite if you have villains who either can't be overcome with brute force (which requires more intelligent writing than we've seen from Smallville) or supervillains who can go toe to toe with Superman (which Smallville apparently lacks the SFX budget to do).
  8. I would have Talia come to Gotham to claim her father's body and take it home to be buried in the family cemetery. While there she and other members of the League of Assassins go after Batman to avenge her father as well as punish Batman for betraying the League. Only Talia falls for Bruce and in the end helps him fight off the League and prevent them from carrying out another plan to destroy Gotham. The movie ends with the two saying their goodbyes as Talia watches the casket containing her father's remains being loaded onto a plane for transport. Comic fans know that she's headed for a Lazarus Pit without the supernatural being introduced into the movie.
  9. I have to say, I don't think the "realistic" shows are actually any more realistic than anything else on television. They just represent a different world view bias that some people feel is more realistic. Reality usually falls somewhere in between the two extremes but, frankly, reality is boring. The "realistic" shows where corporations all have black ops teams to go out and kill anyone who hurts the corporation's bottom line is exciting. A realistic show where the corporate head wants all salaried employees to work a couple of weekends a year at trade shows in addition to their normal hours with no form of compensation, not even comp time, not so much.
  10. Also keep in mind that Lucky may have saved her and her son but he also killed her boyfriend. The worst thing we know about the guy was that he liked to stay out all night partying with his friends. It's not like he was cheating on her or slapping her or her son around. Lucky had no real reason to kill the guy other than jealousy. If someone saved your life but killed your SO for no good reason, how much gratitude would you feel towards them?
  11. I get tired of it. I read books and watch television to get away from the crap in my life, not wallow in it. I stopped reading the Honor Harrington series when it became clear that the formula involved Honor being both maimed and suffering some form of emotional trauma in every book. I had no interest in seeing what new ways David Weber came up with to abuse the character. I'd much rather get my military SF fix reading stuff like Keith Laumer's Bolo series where the stories are about honor and duty. The same principle applies to pretty much any form of entertainment. I want stories that make me feel good, not ones that make me depressed. The occasional downer is alright but I don't want a steady stream of them.
  12. The effects do look cheesy but they might be improved between now and the movie hitting the theaters. I'm more concerned with Ryan Reynolds coming across like he does in everything I've ever seen him in. I want to see Hal Jordan, not Ryan Reynolds.

No DVR means that when two shows I want to see are on at the same time I can watch one on the 60" big screen and then the other on my 20" computer monitor via Hulu or other online resource, assuming the owners of the show haven't done something stupid like delay showing the show online for 30 days after the original airing (the decision that finally made me stop following Stargate: Universe). You may get to see both but the experience is different so there's a choice involved.

Thought they were both going to be on Fridays but maybe that changed when they bumped the start of Human Target's new season to November.
  15. Maybe we'll get lucky. Spider-man dies, then MJ wakes up and Peter steps out of the shower.
  16. While I'll admit to feeling bad for Lucky I can completely understand why she didn't want him around after learning the truth. From her perspective he was a stalker. Sure, he killed people to protect her but then, aside from the other skinwalkers, she probably didn't want any of those people dead. And then there are those little creepy moments like Lucky watching her undress, Lucky watching her take a shower, Lucky watching her do who knows what with her boyfriend...
  17. I'd really like some evidence that these aren't just humans that have been recruited by a puff of CGI smoke. I was worried I'd have trouble choosing between watching Smallville and Human Target but after the last few episodes of Smallville it's not that hard to choose. Looking forward to the season premiere of Human Target next week.

After the way Darth Valium turned out they decided that was enough of that which was probably a good thing since Darth Viagra would have been next.

The 60s actually. It was an attempt to capitalize on the popularity of the Batman TV series though Green Hornet tried to be more serious. The Green Hornet and Kato even appeared on Batman several times, both in a cameo and a full blown crossover.

  22. Wasn't the first trailer, which was released over a year ago, a proof of concept thing where they were just showing off what they could do with current technology rather than an actual trailer?

In Japan the sexbots *ARE* the killer robots. (Warning: what has been seen cannot be unseen.)
