  1. Um, to make it take longer and more effort to get all the portals?

    duh?

Villainside you only have 7 zones to teleport to, so, you need 4 Telepads.

    Good guide, OP.

Now, maybe write a guide on how to change your room configuration without upgrading your plot and without deleting any porters.
  3. What was unclear about 'we're not removing any of the free methods to get respecs'?

    Just a quick follow up:

We have no plans of getting rid of freespecs. Each Issue that brings with it major power changes (which is pretty much every single one, eh?) will bring a freespec with it.

We have no plans of getting rid of the respec trials.

We have no plans of getting rid of the dropped Respec Recipes.

We have no plans of getting rid of the Veteran Respecs that your account earns.

This is simply another way to get a Respec onto your character.

First off im all for finding ways to generate income. My one real issue with this respec for purchase idea is that I like the respec TFs. IMO there fun to run. But finding a team to run one now, especially at my normal play hours gets tough. When alot of players are sitting on like 5 vet rewards ones by the time there worried about doing it, plus the free ones, the recipes etc. There really is not much point in running the actual TF anymore.

This just seems like it would make it more so. If NC Soft is really wanting to find a way to generate income, i think things like the wedding package is a better idea. Halloween is coming up what if you introduced a costume package at a purchasable temp power. For X dollars you can buy all the costumes that you can get from the event without tricks and treats each costume with like a 1 hour timer on activation. I would probably pay 10 bucks for that.

Or new costume options would be another good one. Like a sims expansion, more base and costume decorations for a set price for download. I would just rather the purchasable content be a worthy value, but not impact game play in a negative way. I think selling things with thebenefit of a resepc is a bad idea. However now i type that, why not sell the ability to get a new "earned" respec by doing the TF again. Done all three earned, no other options by a new earned tf that opens the reward option again at the end of the TF not just a click it and get it from the server?

    [/ QUOTE ]

The trials remain as a challenge for new players who do not have vetspecs or lots of inf, and who probably aren't invested enough to buy Inf from Spammers or Respecs from NCSoft.

It's boring for vets, but challenging for newbs with weak builds.

I make $8 in an hour at McDonalds (or I would if I worked there).

I make $15 in an hour at my sister in law's office.

I make $40 in an hour teaching a piano lesson.

I make about 1 million influence in an hour playing a level 50 toon.

I could probably make somewhat more than that in an hour playing the market.

$10 for a Respec Recipe? Well worth it, comparing time to earn the $10 versus time to earn the inf to purchase the recipe on the market, or to have it drop in normal play.

Heck, just running the respec trial could take an hour or more.

Anyone asking for $5 or $1 hasn't really thought this through.

also, I would like to request maybe a short film at some point?
    something with some plot!

Well, my current YouTube limitation is 10 minutes unless I apply for Director's status.

Second... I'm always up for pushing my limits. Any ideas? Suggestions? If I were going to do a short film about the world of CoX, what it should be?

Hmmmmm... maybe I'll sponsor a contest of my own - make a suggestion for a short film (something game-related, not just highlighting an SG or somesuch), and the winning entry gets to have their idea made into a 10-minute film by Samuraiko Productions.

No, that's not arrogant sounding at all...

And I agree - long live Triumph, home of the Sinclair Syndicate and some of the coolest players I've had the pleasure of knowing.

Ok, well, first off, I would love to see a fast paced retelling of one of the more interesting story arcs or TFs.

Secondly, YOU SHOULD DO THAT CONTEST OMG!!!

I would love to watch the video...

But I need a Quicktime version to do so.
  9. Ah, I see, that is a bug, it's only supposed to be Damage that does that, right?

Well, adding Demoralize to AS seems to have exacerbated this bug. Maybe, since this is the last thing Stalkers can really complain about, Castle can give this a looksee soon.
  10. How exactly does the bug work in PvE?

I think I have been seeing it on my Elec/Regen, and I never noticed it on my EM/Nin...

Pretty frequently I'll placate (I've noticed this on bosses and maybe 1 LT, never a minion) and they Seem to be placated and then half a second later (whether I do anything or not) they see me again and start attacking, often interrupting an AS.

What is causing that? How can I work around it?

In case anyone was wondering if a 4 year vet can still be a n00b.

Sure sure. you obviously didn't read where I said I prefered up close combat. I also said I didn't want aim or build up because the way i have my build. I didn't add my so's in here. I've got stamina slotted with performance shifter and health slotted with numina.
To be honest, I have every power fully slotted with io's. I'm not hurting for any buffs.
I'll repost with everything that I do have.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Up close combat has nothing to do with not taking Aim and Build Up. It's a gimped build IOs or not.
  13. um, yeah

As if Elec didn't have crappy enough ranged damage as it is, you skipped your self buffs...

You have no Tohit buffs, so good luck hitting mobs with Defense or Tohit debuffs...

Your slotting on Stamina and Health makes no sense...

You have multiple powers that cut your recovery, but you didn't take Power Sink...

this build is not something I would play or recommend to people, especially people new to Blasting.
  14. It's not just a recover/regen buff.

It's an increase to your BASE recovery and regen.

So regen and recovery buffs (Health, Stamina, set bonuses) will work better on VEATs than on other toons.
  15. <qr>

Love the idea. Well done. I agree that the 'SK' aspect of it isn't necessary.
  16. <qr>

    Eagle's Claw:

Still not good enough. This attack is still the worst in the whole set in terms of Damage Per Animation Second. Please cut the animation down to 1.5 to 2 seconds.

    Trial Accounts:

Most of the limitations I agree with. However, the inability to send tells will make it very difficult for them to get on teams, meet people, etc. Also, the inability to make teams themselves means that a pair of friends trying out the game can't team with each other.
  17. <qr>

I would like to see a Paragon City Mayhem Zone.

Just like Mayhem Missions, only a whole zone.

This would be a Villains only PvE zone. However there would be Paragon City Heroes unique Bosses, EBs and occasionally a signature Hero.

Of course there would be plenty of PPD and Longbow, and other groups both Hero and Villain, all conning as enemies. Attackable civilians as well, just like in Mayhems.

I think this would be a ton of fun.
  18. [ QUOTE ]

And I have no idea why Wavicle is posting his point of view all the time with something that has nothing to do with this guide, one post would be enough for that. Guess what on big teams where you get more 'domination' on the bar than solo, I can just jump, press the key for snipe 5 or so times and boom, dom in 3 seconds.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not really sure how you can say it had nothing to do with the topic, as it directly discussed a tactic described by the OP.

I made one post with my opinion, if people didn't want to discuss it then they could have left it alone. Instead, I was jumped on, and I chose to defend myself.

Whether a person agrees with my opinion or not really has nothing to do with it.

There's really no call for you to suggest that I don't have the right to post my point of view. I play Dominators and have PvPd with them, although admittedly not all that much. That gives me as much right to post my opinion as anyone else. As if I needed a justification.
  19. Yes, I understand that you feel that casual PvPers opinions of PvP don't count.

I said in my first post, and I'll repeat I think it's a great guide that helps both people who are already experienced and people who are not (like me).
  20. That's not what I meant.

I just meant that there are certain things I won't do to try to win. It doesn't mean I'd stop trying.

If I found I Had to use a tactic I didn't like in order to be succesful, I would probably just not play with that character. That goes for PvP OR PvE.
  21. Of course.

I never said anywhere that I would expect people to follow my rules.

I do think the Devs should make it so that doesn't work, but if they don't then I guess it's not a bug.

But no, I wouldn't do it.

Since I hardly ever PvP it wouldn't be very meaningful to say that I wouldn't PvP someone who did that.

EDIT: On further reflection, if my Dom HAD a Snipe I Might do it, because I do like to win. However I would feel bad about it. And I Certainly wouldn't take a Snipe just to do that, but then I don't build toons for PvP.
  22. Yes, I read the link.

I don't really agree with the "win at all costs" philosophy but, be that as it may...

If the PvP in this game was designed Well, bug exploits like that wouldn't be Necessary.

EDIT: I understand Sirlin's points, however I personally think people who would do things like use that slow Iceman maneuver he describes are being jerks and I wouldn't play against them a second time. It's practically the Definition of unsportsmanlike conduct.
  23. It may be effective, but it's still cornball.

I understand that the Domination mechanic isn't really designed for the PvP game, and you do what you have to to win.

However, if CoH PvP were better balanced and it was serious enough, tricks like building Dom using an interrupted snipe would be considered poor sportsmanship, and would be frowned upon and probably against tournament rules.

It's certainly as cornball as TP Droning, which is of course also not against any rules, but definitely a cheesy move that one uses only if you can't beat your opponent in a real fight.

I'm not denying that it's a move that is forced upon Doms in PvP because of how Domination works, but that doesn't make it any less cornball.

It is however, Highly amusing that the best slotting for a Dom snipe involves a ton of recharge and endurance reduction and pretty much nothing else.
  24. Very cool guide, although I have to say, using pbaoes is bad enough, but building Dom by canceling a snipe has got to be one of the most cornball effects there is. And on top of that, you've given up a power slot for a snipe!
