Quote:I see nothing in the thread in any way implying that they are forcing people to do the whole arc and not just the last mission to get the badge.Well, this is mostly good. But, is there a way to turn it off?
I hate, hate, hate the mission arc (and it's a whole arc) REQUIRED to get into Cimerora (I'm looking at you Lady Jane, you suicidal witch! I've even created rotating binds for taunts to her about her boyfriend to give her a reason to kill herself to use if I'm on a team.)
So I usually join a high level guy with a low level on another of my accounts and rush throught the low levels missions until you craft the Rikti cure, to get 2 of my guys access quickly at the same time. Usually when I am invited to an ITF and I'm on someone that doesn't have access because I hate the arc so much.
So will this still be possible? Or will every one of my characters be forced through this tedium where I'll be wanting to off myself with Lady Jane? -
Quote:Can we cut it out already?, By definition every class in the game is a "Defender", heroes are in turn defenders of justice. Yes the devs couldn't think of a name for the class. I guess priest was too archaic and medics or doctors where too definitive. Either way, if you come with a heal, you're going to be deemed healer, if you come with buffs...do the math. So on and so on.
Don't change decades of MMO terminology just too further boost you're ego. CoH teams will go on an prosper without dealing with semantics. Yes you're defender comes with blasts, and my tank comes with melee, I would love to see the face of the players on my team if I said I would only perform like an actual tank(moving slowly and hitting every 20 secs) due to the "title" given.
"Defender" is a vague word to use, yes it was a huge mistake by the devs. But don't make it seem like certain AT's aren't healer's, thats just obtuse. Every MMO lives by the holy trinity ; Tank, Dps, Healer.
Actually, you're the one who's wrong. CoH is NOT like other MMOs in that you Don't need the 'holy trinity'. -

Quote:Grant Cover gives the user Def and Slow Debuff resistance. It costs considerably less than the other toggles in the set. Why wouldn't you want that even solo?My first Shield/Axe was pacted with my brother's broadsword shield. Though often teamed together (and with others) our mindset - we aint gonna take grantcover cause it doesnt do anything for ourselves (directly). It wasn't until after hitting level 50 we both realized all the shortchanging we'd been doing.
Arguments aside on 'having to ask/ remind other's for our "due" buffs', how often have you been looking at those slacking, missed, inbetween times for 'your' speedboost, shields, bubbles, clearminds, forge, adrenalin boost, thaw, etc... times when you admire -or at the least respect- the frequency of the other player's ability to keep the buffs going, times when youre shouting at the monitor for the blasted 'buffer' to freaking hit the team with the buffs at least ONCE every 5 min..., times when you patiently or not-so-patiently remind your fellow to please sb...
Then look at the not so frequently used Grant Cover. Depending on slotting... it can be near a luck to 2 constant pbaoe buff. It's a toggle... you Don't Have to keep buffing your fellows... if they can handle the proximity/ your aggro hold/managing skills, mob sizes, etc... they get the buff. If not... well, it's not like you don't have it toggled up. Multi-shield teams... (not discounting leadership, etc), the overlapping Grant Covers can be jawdropping. Did a jawdropping VEAT ITF yesterday, amongst the funnest in a while and the overlapping assault, leadership, and maneuvers was impressive...
Even if you solo 100% of the time (I wouldn't suggest there aren't some that really do solo 100%... but I'd be surprised to come across them) That's 3-4 more slots of ...Luck of the Gambler? If you happen to be by yourself, don't toggle it on (yeah, 'duh').
I'm likely not going to be able to sell anyone to flipping to Grant Cover, it's a choice thing, but as a choice thing, at least consider looking at the team benefit aspects - especially for being a low maintaince toggled contribution that can hold sets that DO benefit YOU also. From a perspective, a teamed shield without grant cover, isnt that dissimilar to the chuckles directed at a kin without speedboost (I respect the decision while disagreeing with it) - and speedboost one actually has to pay attention to, imagine a kin's glee if it could just be a toggle that grants 2 min of sb, just by being near for a moment! -
Quote:Agreed, I never said it was Reasonable for them to complain, I just remember them doing it.Yeah, hang on. Let me wipe the tear out of my eye. No, it's not sympathy. I am just laughing THAT hard. I'd love to have a Scrapper fan explain to me how having better criticals AND a higher damage scalar AND better survivability is their "special thing".
When they buffed Stalkers they had to improve something and I for one am glad it wasn't hiding or running away. I'm sure there are plenty of Scrapper-heads out there who think that's OUR "special thing." -
Actually, I talked to quite a few scrapper players who were irritated that Stalkers were getting better at crits which was "supposed" to be scrappers "special thing".

Quote:Gonna have to agree with Haaru, this is a lot of sturm und drang over nothing. You haven't even mentioned in this post any issues you potentially see arising. You just kinda rail on assuming we all know why you don't like the new option, without ever really giving a reason...:Smacks Forehead:
Oh boy...here we go again with "extensive data-mining"...I love how this term gets applied to massive changes that inherently the devs feel they need to make, but can't fully justify it by any other means. I also don't understand why is it lately when the devs announce some new and interesting features - like new power sets or game content, they have to sour it by removing a game mechanic they admit to not really being a problem right off the bat! Posi states that the concern for bridging requests really wasn't as big as a problem as they thought! It was a misperception by the dev team! But hey, since our data-mining shows that requests for bridging isn't a problem like we "thought", then lets go ahead and change it quick now! Come on...the only reason why it doesn't show up in your data-mining is because you probably only looked at the last 4 to 6 months. Hello, that is how long AE has been out and there hasn't been a need for bridges - you already fixed that! LOL However you "over-corrected". If you really want us to use the non-AE game content again, maybe (and I cringe to suggest this) simply turn off auto-SKing in AEs or apply this new system only to AEs and people will eventually not abuse it (I mean enjoy it) so much. They will go back to the more "balanced" system that already exists! Now, you may reply with "well we don't want to see the spam of bridging again" ...well again, sounds like you "added" a new mechanic that is going to be awesome which is the email/broadcast filter. Based on actual game play (not short-term "extensive data-mining"), it's the broadcasting and emails that annoy people the most. If other players don't see how some other players choose to play the game, then obviously they can't complain about it. Hence, 1) add broadcast/email filters, 2) leave SKing alone or add your new way as an "option", 3) Fix AE so it doesn't auto SK and allow it to be the alternate mission creator it was intended to be.
Ultimately, the dev team really needs to consider how far it "over-corrects" a problem they recently created and not practically re-write the entire game in one issue. It was bad enough you couldn't adjust certain ATs for PvP, now you are taking that same philosophy to PvE. PLEASE seriously consider this new CoX 2.0 before you force it on us! -
Quote:Yep, GC is the better attack for DPS, which is what you want out of your low level attack. Your Burst comes from your highest level attacks, GD and SD. That said, if your build allows for you to get along fine without DA, then skip DA and take both GC and SotW.Gambler's Cut it is better DPS attack for Kat. The best DPS attack chain for kat is Golden Dragonfly>Gambler's Cut>Soaring Dragon>Gambler's Cut repeat.
Gambler's Cut
ACT=.924
Dam 95%=112.7
DPS=122
Sting of the Wasp
ACT=1.32
Dam 95%=155.6
DPS=117.8
So just looking at both attacks Gambler's cut is the better DPS attack and it comes up a lot faster too. Also With IO you can put in some good Proc to up the Damage and put the Achilles' Heel Chance for res Debuff to make all your other attacks better.
*ACT= AdjustedCastTime = (ROUNDUP( Casttime / 0.132)+1) * 0.132 -

Quote:Pain free....blaster...Ok, so I have never actually played a blaster past 16 or so and am looking for advice on what is fun and relatively pain-free to play. I want to be able to solo but will mostly play on teams.
What have been y'alls most fun blaster combos?
*headasplode*
um, jk, mostly
try something with a lot of control, like Ice or Sonic. -
Quote:It's not Interruptable in the enhanceable sense. Is there even a flag they can set of 'Uninterruptable'?Although the last few posts are confusing me a little I think we are still on the issue of Dwarf form not always working when getting mezzed.
The issue isn't that it won't work when mezzed, which is what we hve been promised. That would be a bug in the true sense.
The issue is that Dwarf has a ~2 second activation time, during which it is interruptable. And since the mez protection doesn't activate until the end of that time an incoming mez will interrupt your casting of the form. That is just the way the system works. It may be unintended, but it isn't actually a bug - it may even be intended.
The real thing you need to be asking for is for Dwarf to be marked as uninteruptble, then it would always activate - but it isn't the same thing as saying it is currently bugged.
The devs don't do everything the playerbase ask of them, but they are more likely to help us if we correctly identify the issue instead of just shouting and screaming.
Also regardless of the bug/no bug thing there has been a 'workaround' posted above with binds/macros and it is well worth using in the meantime, which is the advice I would hope any new people get rather than just telling them the power is broken.
I still think it is a bug, because I believe that it is unintended behavior. If it's not WAI then it's a bug. If it's WAI then I'm wrong, but it still sucks. -
Quote:No, Cimerora and RWZ are level restricted but will no longer be under the new system.Wait..! This can't be right...
You will still have level restrictions on when you get the Midnight Arc entrance. Without the midnight badge no access to Cimerora.. without access... no ITF.
Isn't that the same with RWZ..? Then again. RWZ is a known location.. while Cimerora is a secret... a time portal...
The Midnighter Club is Badge restricted. Anyone can get the badge by being on the team when someone completes the last mission of the appropriate arc.
Theoretically, a lvl 3 will be able to Mission Teleport to their supermentor's mission in Cimerora without getting the badge. -
Quote:That's ridiculous too. It's better than not having the function at all, but if it worked more smoothly it would be better. There's not a good reason I shouldn't point out that it's not working smoothly. And I don't know where you got this 'tank in a blasterlike form' from. No one I know tanks in Nova form, and no one I know considers the human form blasterlike. You have resistance and heals and +HP. Quite unblasterlike.Yes, and this isn't a bug. I'm sorry, but when I can tank in a form that is a quote 'Blaster-like form' then the issue of being mezzed is THAT big a deal, then I will deal with it. If it is STILL an issue for you, carry purples or make a build from IO's that helps you not get mezzed. It is PART OF THE AT, not a bug. If someone elses stuff stopped working, then it MAY be a bug, but this is part of us. The fact that we can do it all makes up for this MINOR issue. Honestly, it isn't even that big of an issue, just minorly bad. Get over it, or play something else, either way, it doesn't matter because your not going to get yor way because it would brake either of the AT's (expessially WS as far as I can tell having been playing one. ) Sorry, but not everything gets changed, look at Grav, people have been asking for Dim Shift to get changed forever, it never will. Hell, does it brake a class, no, does it make the class unplayable, no, does it glitch the game, no. The fact that we have any Mezz protection at all is a BLESSING! So quit your whinning.

Quote:The point of buffs, debuffs and controls is to provide mitigation against the guys you are killing and haven't killed yet. Duh.Death is the ultimate form of mitigation. It's complete (unlike debuffs), and it's permanent (unlike controls)
I get what you are saying, but to say there is no distinction between +Def/-Res/-Tohit/-Dmg and -Res/-Def/+Dmg/+Tohit as a form of 'mitigation' is really kinda silly I think. It's a semantic argument that distracts from the point.
However, since Res debuffs improve Dmg debuffs, in this case Tar Patch would actually be adding to the -Dmg, which is pretty cool. Thanks, whoever that was, for pointing that out. -
Quote:They are working on being able to use all your powers even when exemplared.I haven't read all of this massive thread, so my apologies if this has already been brought up, but my biggest issue with auto-exemping is not so much the loss of high-level powers for a character exemped many levels lower. This happens already, because without it, the high-level character would be FAR too powerful for the low-level team. I'm guessing the reason it's considered a problem now is that exemping is expected to become more common, but anyway...
The problem I have is the loss of that brand new power you just got. It's levelling up, and not being able to select a new power until the team leader levels too...even if you are only one level above the mission holder. I would suggest limiting auto-exemplar to people two or more levels above the mission holder, just to maintain the "yay, new power!" aspect of levelling up. -
This was an idea I had, I don't know if it's particularly good or bad, but it sounded kinda fun to me.
When anyone, Hero or Villain of any AT, hits 50, they get a passive Accolade power:
----------
Super Powered
You have achieved awesome heights of power!
+1% to All Resistance, Defense, Regen, End Recovery, Tohit, Debuffs, and Mez Effects
----------
Is it too powerful? Is it stupid?
Tell me what you think, and tell me if I left anything out that should be included in the buff! -
Quote:PowerLeveling and Farming are completely seperate actually.
Powerleveling has people on a team... and they want EXP.
Farming is you SOLO and there is NO exp.
Anything else is just teaming.
No.
Solo farming is solo farming.
Farming does not have to be solo.
Is a Heal Farm just teaming?
Is an Illusion farm just teaming?
Your definition is too limited. -
Quote:My point is that a well built team with buff/debuff sets and some toughies don't Need all that extra end drain to kick butt.Leadership is the option provided to me to let me pwn harder, regardless of team makeup.
8 Blasters/Scrappers/Tankers/Brutes/Stalkers with slotted Maneuvers have ~27.3% defense (almost equal to an SR Scrapper without IOs), before any other powers. 8 Defenders have ~42% (almost maxed out).
8 Blasters/Tankers/Brutes/Stalkers with Assault have +84% damage (almost doubling their damage slotting). 8 Defenders have +150% damage (just 55% away from their damage cap assuming 95% damage from slotting)
8 stacked slotted Tactics will net you between ~84% and ~150% tohit, which is enough to max out your chance to hit against anything except the wrong type of Mito in a Hamidon raid.
Let's review:
* Stacked Maneuvers can get you somewhere between an SR Scrapper and a single IO short of capped
* Stacked Assault can get you somewhere between doubling your damage enhancements and two reds short of capped
* Stacked Tactics will cap you against everything but the wrong Hamidon Mito
Pretty sure he's referring to "dead monster does not fight"
And if he is referring to dead monster does not fight then he's an idiot. Mobs being dead quick is NOT 'mitigation' in the sense that normal people use the word when describing the Effects of Powers. -
-
Yea, I'm getting that, but that is so obscure and unintuitive that I don't see how it could prompt a "LOLWUT, Think about it" to say that -Res is not really a mitigation debuff.
-
Have to agree with this. Placate is a status effect. It's either on or not. There is no 50% Placated.

Quote:Ok, well *I* consider it a major frustration and I am quite content to assume that it is a bug, and I shall continue to do so.
I'm not contesting the definition of 'bug'. I am simply saying that until we have confirmation that the Dwarf-toggle interruptibility is in fact a bug, assuming that it is, seems rather premature and futile, at least to me.
From here, the Devs can either tell us that it is in fact an unintended and unfortunate consequence of the Dwarf-toggle's interruptibility, admit it's a bug and fix it. Or, they can simply say it's not a bug but rather a feature.
Either way, I wouldn't call this issue a major frustration.
