Quote:If you can make it to 41 you can get an Immob...Hey folks,
I dusted off my lvl 28 EM/ELA brute (to my regret, forgot how monumentally painful he is). I just about pulled my hair out from NPCs regularly doing the following when stunned from my EM attacks:
1. "Miraculously lept off into distance whereby I chased killing precious BU 10 sec. timer."
2. "Wandering away very quickly".
3. "Stunned but scurried out of range".
The frequency of NPCs doing this just made me want to do "Hulk Smash!!". To rub salt in the wound, it was enraging to be pwned mercilessly by Orange, Blue Ink Tsoo and Red, Lt. Ancestral Spirits. All the while, my dependecy on stuns and Aid-Self were ineffective.
Just wondering how NPCs can be so "fortunate"; Yet, when players are stunned we can't push direction keys fast enough to move us away from instant dirt naps?
Bravo if WAI. -

Quote:Do you enjoy standing around doing nothing but waiting for health/end bars to recover if Rest is down? If so then you'd have loved EverQuest back in 1999-2003 when I played - one of my characters took 20+ mins to recover a full mana bar from empty without external buffs and it's not like there were any consumables you could chug or powers/skills you could use to top up - so it was basically a 5min fight then 20mins downtime - I got a lot of novel reading done in those days.
EQ taught me that time spent waiting for a bar to refill was basically just wasted time - and in a game that I pay for I don't appreciate having my time wasted unless it is adding to atmosphere or I am given something else to occupy myself while waiting. The wasted time these days is much less, but it's still unnecessary when it occurs.
Rest has enough penalties when you use it that I don't see why it needs more than 10secs recharge time - it's not like you're ever going to use it in combat. I don't see how Rest coming up faster is even comparable to wanting a "level to 20" button - this isn't about levelling faster, it's about spending time enjoying your gameplay rather than wasting time - I don't want to level faster - I just want boring or frustrating moments removed.
I have very very few toons that cannot last, at lvl 19, long enough for Rest to recharge. I don't run unnecessary toggles. I try to use as end efficient attack chains as survivability will allow. I eat plenty of candy. I slot for maximum end efficiency. The only toon that really had an issue at all was my Fire/Kin, and that was mostly because I was trying to use Hotfeet when it wasn't really necessary. -
Quote:I see what you're saying, I just think it's kind of silly to assume that whoever wrote that post wrote it completely wrong.hey I hope you're right, but the difference is I won't be disappointed if what I expect to happen happens.
It sounds like it is going to happen from the wording, but... I prefer to wait and see as I've gotten my expectations up pretty high for this game before and the crash is tough. -

Rest...takes an unreasonable amount of time to recharge and activate.
LOL
Why don't you just ask for a "Lvl to 20" button, maybe that would be easier for you? -
Quote:I gotta tell you, the lack of the pet, the perceived lack of containment, the lack of additional effects, are all because a Mind Controllers powers are so much better than any other set at Actually Controlling the mobs.Other control sets.
I will admit, my observations have been from a single server, and not a high-population one at that, but... after 32, I have only ever seen one Mind Control/ controller. Fire Control remains predominant, but Ice and Earth become more welcome. Illusions and Plant always seem popular, and...
Well, Gravity's got other issues, and seems to be rare at any level.
Also, I would point out that it is only somewhat underperforming. Any Mind Control player can easily provide the mass shutdown that they would be desired for. But the lack of a pet, little reliable mass-containment, and no additional debuff effect... means that teams aren't looking to Mind Control when they want a 'troller.
I also haven't taken a look at how it is for Dominators - with no Containment issues and a damage-devoted secondary, I can imagine that Mind Control is better for the Dominator than the Controller.
All that extra stuff is really icing. Mind has other advantages you don't seem to realize, such as bypassing most defense, having several non aggro controls, having an autohit hold, and having stackable confuses.
My experience is pretty much the opposite. Fire Control is extremely popular because of how much damage it does, but Fire Controllers are basically pretty bad at actually mezzing mobs. I hardly ever see anything but Fire and Illusions. Earth, Ice and Mind are equally rare. Mostly however, I see that Mind Controllers actually shut down spawns. The others tend not to, mostly.
Ice and Earth spend a lot of time with mobs flopping about, which is great but doesn't accomplish the same thing as a Hold or a Confuse.
Illusions and Fire basically tank instead of actually controlling, mostly.
Mostly however, the fact that the set is played more rarely is NOT an indication that it is underpowered. It lacks a pet, yes, that does not necessarily mean it's overpowered. Frankly, the Pets don't add that much on a team. The Sing is good. The imps and phantasm do good damage. The Poo man and Jack and Venus are pretty unimpressive.
In any case, you are perfectly entitled to PREFER the other sets for whatever reasons you like, but I assure you Mind Control is NOT underpowered. It's just different. -
Quote:I highly recommend a Dominator. Not Gravity. Maybe something with Electrical Assault?I've been looking to level a villain to 50 for a while but haven't been able to find a class that is still fun and able to fight well. I don't want to do another melee class since my last 50 was a scrapper, however, a electic or energy brute sounds fun, but I was leaning more towards a dominator. Any suggestions?

Read it again:
Each archetype is getting an ADDITIONAL POWER SET in their epic power pool,
AND
EACH POWER SET is getting an additional power

Quote:I'm pretty sure it doesn't get -Tohit because Mind Control is absurdly good already, it's a control set not a debuff set, and the set doesn't need help?Title says it all I suppose. Every other terror power in the game supplies -ToHit, including both of Phantasm's terror effects. Why is Terrify from Mind the odd one out? Am I missing some obscure balance point?
I have 6 slotted Terrify on my Mind/Thorn Dom and I have been wondering why I bother with it. In team settings it provides about the same control as Mass Hypnosis, which I can at least leverage in the RSF. Solo Mass Hypnosis is actually superior to Terrify because it can stack on Mesmerize and is Targetted AoE and does not alert.
I mean, is Terrify anything more then a backup sleep with mediocre damage attached to it?
Also, I completely disagree that Mass Hyp is better, either on teams, or solo. I find Terrify to be better because Feared guys stay Feared when attacked. Likely just a playstyle difference. -
Tar Patch, lol, yea right. GL with that.

Quote:I believe instead they should find a way to allow lowbies to get Vanguard Merits. They fight enough Rikti in the invasions, give them some credit for it.That's the only thing about I16 I'm worried about. I would like to be able to run Mothership Raids. Instead, I think the RWZ will become the new PL/Farm zone instead of Cap and Atlas and the zone will be full of players seeking PL and clogging up broadcast with LFF spam. Running a MS Raid is going to be an unpleasant prospect.
I also agree with the posters who believe that removing the level restriction from Cimerora and the War Zone make the zones less special. As lowbies will not get Vanguard Merits and will be unable to earn Vanguard costume pieces, I think this zone and Cimerora should remain closed to <35. -

Quote:Someone will have to correct me if I am wrong, but I'm pretty sure you do NOT get set bonuses from powers that are unavailable. In a few cases you might not want to do that - you can still get set bonuses from powers that aren't available, provided the IOs are a usable level. If you have a particular type of set from which you want the bonus you may not have a lower-level power that can take it. And of course the Purple and PvP set bonuses apply regardless of your exemplar level.
The main reason I haven't started working up my second build yet is that I'm still trying to figure out which sets to use for it (and the main build for that matter), and how many slots I need in which powers to get the right bonuses. -
Quote:I've been told Physical Perfection is +Regen, +Recovery in a passive.Physical Perfection sounds more like a Fitness (Swift/Hurdle/Health/Stamina all rolled in one) buff to me, kind of what the VEATs get for an inherent.
I'm not in beta and neither is the person who told me, so take it with a grain of salt. -
Quote:I wasn't making an offer to the Devs, I was making an offer to the thread. It was just an expression. You don't get to make offers when you're asking for something for nothing.
I'm perfectly happy with the set as is, doesn't need a change.
I was just saying what I would change, if a change was to be made.
Besides, it's switching the order of two powers, it's something to scrappers and brutes, tho not all that much in the long run, and it's nothing to tanks at all. And a name change. Hardly a huge buff I've suggested.
I stand by my statement that Temp Invulnerability should be renamed Bulletproof. -
Quote:If the Fire/Kin is fighting level 52s and the fillers are SKd to 49 then they will get xp as if fighting level 4 enemies.<QR>
Sorry for not reading all forty pages. I have taken a break beta testing a game. I do not want to talk about it in the forums because I am afraid it may be against the rules. I need to ask some questions.
Let's say you have the following. Unless things have changed a well built Fire/Kin controller could easily defeat enemies spawned for a large team. A level 50 Fire/Kin controller, also the Fire/Kin can handle the mission for a team of eight. Next the level 50 gets 7 level 1 sk'ds them. Since they can be anywhere they could stay at Atlas Park and gain xp.
Now when the Fire/Kin defeats the enemies does the level one get xp equal to being a level 49? Or do they get xp equal to defeating level one enemies? If the first question anwer is yes then pro power leveling companies will love this new feature. I mean a pro powerleveler will be able to get 7 players to cap quickly intead of only one. -
QR:
Ok, my final offer.
Switch Temp Invuln and Resist Physical Damage, and rename Temp Invuln "Bulletproof". I think someone else suggested the name earlier, I don't remember. -
QR:
Force Bolt: Add a significant, but not self stacking, -Resistance debuff. This will help the soloing FFer and will allow FF to aid the teams offense against Bosses and AVs.
Repulsion Bomb: Decrease the casting time slightly.
Repulsion Field: Change this power into a ranged Drop like Tar Patch or Freezing Rain. Remove the per target end cost. Let it do some ticks of Energy Damage that will not benefit from Containment in the Controller version. Essentially, make this power into Bonfire but with Energy Damage. This will allow the Force Fielder to create AoE knockback that is not exclusively away from the caster.
The rest of the set is fine as is. -
Quote:I'm FAR too lazy to read through the 40 pages of discussion in the super sidekicking thread...so I'm hoping that one of you that has read through it can answer my question.
Is there any news on how SFs and TFs will work with the new system? Will all players actually have to be in the level range for the TF/SF or will the autoSK level count?
Positron did not say anything about changing the requirements for TFs, only for Hazard Zone entrance, so I would assume that all players on the TF must be the right level.
Remember, SKing changes your Combat Level, not your Security/Threat Level. TF/SF requirements involve minimum Security/Threat Levels. -
I would really like to change the origin of one of my characters.
Shouldn't there be a way to do this?
I would be willing to pay a microtransaction fee in order to change the origin of my character. -
