  1. Wait a second.

I just realized something about this thread makes NO SENSE.

There are people suggesting that Pulling would still be an allowable, valid tactic IF THE REGEN BUFF WAS NOT LOS BOUND OR THE CLONES FOLLOWED HIM TO THE HALLWAY.

HOW would pulling be a useful tactic if the regen buff penetrated the walls or the clones followed? Why would ANYONE pull at all if that was the case?

The people suggesting those changes are asking for pulling to be neutered EVEN MORE.

There are Many options that would allow you to defeat him.

I am, frankly, absolutely certain that I could solo him on a traps def.

No, you can get beat on by more mobs than anyone else, but that is not tanking.

It's only tanking if you and your entities are keeping the attention of the mobs despite teammates beating on them.

Try to take out bosses with just your first three attacks at lvl 50. Have fun whittling away.

Also, we get new powersets all the time. We just got 4 new sets.

    REVISED 12-10-10 7pm EST

    Psi Melee

    1. Mind Tap -minor single target damage (smash/psi) -recharge
    2. Mind Probe-moderate single target damage (smash/psi) chance for stun -recharge
    3. Brain Wreck -high single target damage (Psi) mag 2 or 3 stun
    4. Psi Absorption- "Soul Drain" type power to buff Only your Psi Damage
    5. Psionic Microburst-Cone power that would be applied like Jacob's Ladder but would Knock UP with moderate smashing damage (Psi dmg) a microburst is a small confined tornado
    6. Taunt
7.Blinding Thoughts- a PbAoE Debuff of either -to hit or -perception
    8. Psy Tornado-High Damage short ranged targeted AoE power similar to Psi tornado with knockup (Psi/Smash)
9.Psychic Wail-PbAoE mini nuke in the vein of the VEATS that get it, no crash just high to superior damage long (cooldown) (PSI DMG)

Psi Armor-an emphasis on protection from non physical mez effects such as Fear/Confuse

    1. Mind Over Body - Smash/Lethal/Psi ResistanceTOGGLE
    2. Psi Shards - PbAoE psionic damage TOGGLE
    3. Elemental Fortitude- Fire/Cold and lesser Energy/Neg Energy resistance TOGGLE
    4. Indomitable Will- click mez protection Stun/Sleep/Confuse/Fear/Placate CLICK
    5. Drain Psyche - the same from the other sets
    6. Clairvoyance- Auto +Perception +Psi Resistance (like 5% base depending on AT) CLICK {again probably a mule for an IO here)
    7. Precognition - +Recharge + Run Speed AUTO
    8. Visualization - Click -to hit -Perception TO ENEMY (PBAoE debuff) CLICK
    9. Out of Body Experience- CLICK 30% Defense to all +50% recharge, when activated and when crashing there will be a period of intangibility occuring of approx 3-5 secs as you're leaving and re-entering the body.

The way the mez protection is built you'd have to go elsewhere for KB and Immobilize protection among others..

Any thoughts on this are much appreciated, not that this'll ever happen but it COULD be pieced together like the did with electric control and electric assualt.

    It's ok.

I'd say remove Psychic Wail and replace it with a high end single target attack.

AE, mission arc merits, Ouroboros, scanners/newspapers, tips and HVAMs, the Faultline and Hollows revamps, RWZ and Cimerora and Praetoria - all of these point to a general goal of diversifying the paths toward rewards, whether they be XP or otherwise.

The contrast between this general thrust toward multiple paths of advancement and the single path to opening Incarnate is worth noting, I think.

  11. Additionally, there is no such "Generic Defender".

There are a very few specific Defender primaries that don't have much to help against mezzers. (Emp and Kin I am looking at you. Cold is also at a bit of a disadvantage.) Very few. Most have Very powerful tools of one kind or another.

  13. I don't have a problem spending multiple respecs if I really want to remove more than 10 items. It WOULD be a nice QoL change, but it's not something I'm demanding.

This is only the second time it has come up for me though.

First, when IOs were originally introduced and my main had over 40 Hamidon Enhancements which I did NOT want to overwrite. I spent FIVE respecs over the course of Months to fully change her over from HOs to IOs.

This is the second time, but it's only going to take three this time (one last week, one this week, one next week).

However, in my case it is just that the multiple freespecs give me the opportunity to change my build in a way I wanted and inherent Fitness gives me the space in the build.

Again, I don't mind the current system (though I do have some suggestions for the respec interface) but my example shows why some people might want it changed. Should I really have needed Five respecs to change from HOs when IOs were introduced?

At the time I only had 2 Vetspecs and Respec Recipes and Purchasable Respecs had yet to be introduced.

Now, the main question I have, with this new level of protection and the inclusion of Aid Self in my build I am curious if I should do one of three things with my last power slot:

    1. Use Power Boost with a recharge IO
    2. Use Horafrost with a recharge IO
    3. Use Hibernate with a recharge IO
    4. A travel power (either SS or SJ)

Don't get me wrong, I love using my Power Boost. Its just when I remember to use it, I even have it Key-Binded atm but, like most powers similar to it, I always forget to use it. Should I consider replacing it or do I just need to give it time?

I would recommend taking a travel power.

With permaDom you don't really need Power Boost. 1 Slotted Hoarfrost isn't that great. 1 slotted Hibernate isn't that bad. However, I think playing without a slottable travel power is not that much fun, so that's my suggestion.

Honestly, I think if we could customize PART of the form, even if we couldn't customize ALL of it, it would be a big step forward. So I can't change the color of my Nova from bright blue? But can I put a whirling eddy in the middle of him that is gold? I'd go for that...
I just want different "tentacle styles" the same way we have different hair styles.

And an appropriate palette of color options.

I knew what you meant, but just being clear.

And I do think in some cases minor variations on the models may be needed to add some of the things we would like. Shoulder pads, for instance, or capes are additional "accessories" which are added to the base model. It's very likely that such could not be allowed for costume overrides, like Kheldian forms or Granite Armor, and so if you wanted to add such things, like different horns, the model itself might have to vary and not just the skin.

That's a way different thing from the model being totally different, though, which I think is what Memphis_Bill was arguing against. Say, adding a Jellyfish form in addition to Squid and Lobster. (That would really imply a form with whole new powers, which would be asking for far too much)

Although I did suggest in the past adding some sort of accessory using the weapon technology, just basically adding a weapon that the Nova/Dwarf would "draw" when going into the form. So you could, say, add a horn, or a glowing core in the center of the form, or a variant of an arm or tentacle. This might be similar to BaB's suggestion that he change the Granite Armor to be "rock bits" that were attached to your character's body, which would then be rendered invisible so it would look like he turned into rock. The same tech presumably could be applied to make a Kheldian have customizable forms. The forms would just become "attachments" to each body part and limb instead of a costume change.

Then again, I don't know if BaB ever succeeded at this, or it was abandoned because a lot of players seemed opposed to such a drastic, non-reversable change.

(Personally, I have not gotten my Stone Tank to 32 yet, so I can't check this, but does anyone know whether if you have Rooted running in Granite form, the "boots" still appear around your feet? Because if they do, this would be exactly what I am suggesting)

Sure, I guess I misused the word models. That's my bad.

And to answer your question, yes, Rooted and Granite lay over one another.

I really don't have any idea what you're talking about.

    Where did I demonstrate entitlement?

All I did was make a thread with a suggestion in it. Maybe it should be in the suggestions forum instead of the kheldian forum.

Nevertheless, I don't see what I did to demand this kind of response.

We have the option to pick variations of various body parts, though. We can choose mechanical arms, wings, horns of various types coming out of our heads, decorations and attachments to our shoulders, wrists and lower legs. And that doesn't even count clothing.

Even if we assume these extra-planetary beings that the Kheldians inhabited in the past had no concept of clothing, I would expect them to have individual features that differentiated them. Just normal random genetic variation would introduce some differences, even if they didn't use visual cues to determine identity, and used smell or hearing or some alien sense instead.

Since it's not likely that we would ever have that fine a control over either shapeshifting forms or the appearance of our pets or henchmen, I would say, yeah, you want different models, only with very slight variations. A Dwarf with larger or arms or different horns, for instance, or a Nova with different numbers and lengths of tentacles.

No, this is not what I meant.

I mean I want multiple versions of the Nova and Dwarf looks. Just different skins for Nova and Dwarf. With slightly different shape to their markings and such.

    Not actually completely different looks.

Think of it as Weapon Customization for the forms.

Right. Because we all know All members of the same species look Completely Identical except for color. All White (Black, Purple, Rainbow) people look the same.

There can definitely be multiple models, the same way we have multiple models for our toons faces and body types.

I don't see MM as designed to keep one out of melee.

In fact, if it has a PBAOE it seems to be to encourage going into melee.
    It might encourage you.

For me I always felt that at some point it was inevitable I would be in melee. Those powers came in very handy at those times. It didn't necessarily mean I had to seek out such dangerous opportunities.

    So, please explain to me.

Do they not want my /MM Blaster getting into a group and using Drain Psyche?

Do they not want my /MM Blaster getting into melee to make best use of Psychic Shockwave?

Do they not want my /MM Blaster getting into melee to use WoC...ummm...hmmm...well it is a suckie power over all...maybe the question should be...do they want me to take this power at all.

5 out of 9 powers require you to be in melee. So make up your mind when you say such things, because you're contradicting yourself.

Unless I made an error I don't think I said Blaster secondaries are meant to keep them out of melee. They ARE however, largely designed to EITHER keep them out of melee OR to keep them alive once in melee long enough to kill stuff.

Look at MM again. TK Thrust keeps an enemy Out of melee. DP gives you survivability in return for having gone to melee. So does PS with it's stun. WoC confuses as well as doing damage.

Except that it is long established that Energy Manipulation is Not a well balanced Blaster secondary and I would argue the same is true of Fire Manipulation.

Look at the most recently added set, Mental Manipulation, to see what the Devs currently think a Blaster secondary should do.
