  1. I definitely don't mind being second to Transfuse. I stared at that piece for a very looooong time.
  2. Your Des collection is just lovely. I always love seeing the same character done in so many different styles.
  3. Thanks, LJ! I'm gonna check out that site and see what I can get.

And thanks for the advice and all Tripp, but my entire point was I didn't want to go ANYWHERE local. In person I'm actually quite shy and private, and I don't want to deal with potential weird looks from people. I won't do anything XXX (I do Playboy, not Hustler), but still.

As far as file types, I'm well versed in what will look good in prints and what won't. I've gone through some trial and error and other shops to where I get really nice looking prints from the place I go to now. That's why I was kind of looking for reviews about some of the services, because I know how using different places can get totally different results.
  4. I came to a recent realization. I have a naughty piece in my queue that I want to have printed.... but I don't really want to use my usual local print shop. I love the place I go to and they are AWESOME.... but its a couple of older guys and they don't really do that sort of thing. Plus, I have to keep going back there!

So does anyone around here have experience with the online printing services? I really need to know about the quality and all because it can vary widely (I know this from personal experience, my current print shop wasn't my first). I know you can buy your own prints through DA, but I don't have a sub and it irks me how much I would have to pay. And I don't know how good they are.

I want to keep doing the naughty pieces (Frost is making some more improvements to my site, so is earning himself a naughty Dark Frost piece sometime in the future), so I need to figure out this printing situation ^.^

Thanks in advance for any help/advice!

    Tattooed TA?

I'm tattooed with Ah! My Goddess artwork.

    When it was first done

How it is now, several years later

Oh, and for reference, its on my right thigh, and about a handspan in size. AND IT HURT LIKE HELL!

Edit: And I just went searching and searching through Google images to find the image I had the tat based on, and while I couldn't find the full thing, this is as close as I found Belldandy
  6. Wow.... thank you so much for the glowing review! Comments like that mean so much to me. I'm glad my efforts at keeping everyone in the loop are well appreciated ^.^

And thank you to everyone else for the kind comments. I'm now taking a *gasp* weekend off! Its been about 3 months and its kind of my anniversary, so I think I deserve a teeny tiny break. But its back to the arts Monday!
  7. Desmodas

Just finished up this commission for Desmodos. This character was really fun to do and I'm quite pleased with the outcome.
  8. If its commonplace to trade services for free at those other sites, why not ask over there? While there are a lot of artists around here, this forum is for sharing more than anything. There are a lot of commissions and all, but not large contract jobs.

I'd understand if this was something you're kind of doing on the side and were maybe looking for people looking for some skill-work for a page or two. But as was pointed out, you seem to need a serious commitment. Might as well ask in a forum where that sort of stuff is common.

I'm Wassy and I approve this message.
  10. When did alcohol and cigarettes and graffiti become cute?! I am out of the loop =(

Thanks for liking it though ^.^
  11. I'm just gonna go ahead and claim my own thread here to post stuff that I'd like, uh, posted.

I just finished up this commission today! The Shadow Court

    Yes. For my commissions.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Of course. On a related note, commercials for socks and Cocoa Krispies are also advertisements for your commissions.
  13. Well I made a list of every person I saw wearing a fuschia shirt today! AND I'M NOT GOING TO LET YOU SEE IT!

    So there!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Bleh. Well, I don't link my main DA page usually because I prefer people to visit my website. I'll keep it in mind to keep the NSFW things away from the featured art section and safely tucked away within the gallery, a few clicks away.
  15. Very cool (which I hate saying about ice characters because its so cheesy). She's got a lot of attitude there between the posing and the artwork style. Nice grab!
  16. I think this is quite a good idea. Personally, the more information a person gives me on their character, the happier I am. But not everyone may work that way, so having this all up for people to pull up want they want is great. And its handy for you so you don't have to keep repeating yourself, and everything stays consistent. And you can keep fleshing them out and tweaking the stories.

So far, its looking pretty spiffy to me. I love reading character bios, everyone is so creative ^.^

    MMO ART?

Why doubt yourself, it's something to work for, emulate, adapt to your own uniqueness... we are borg... um you know what I mean. I find this type of work inspirational...

I respect your ability to not succumb to artist envy ^.^

I'm not quite so good at it *seething jealousy*

    PinUp Girl WIP

PinUp Girl is awesome. I love seeing all the arts of her, too.

I must gift some PinUp Girl arts someday soon (tm).
  19. You can sign out of your DA account. I know it will feel weird and strange, but take a deep breath!!! Stay calm!! You CAN do this!

Or if you want, I can sign out of mine and test for you. And from personal experience, when I switch around between OSX and Windows and get logged out, I can't see the one pic in my gallery that I marked for mild nudity.
  20. That's the thing, they have a right to come up with whatever rules for posting that they want, I'd just like to see them actually laid out CLEARLY. Saying "one click" doesn't say one click from where. Obviously some people took that click as the link itself to the work, but that apparently wasn't the correct click when Zenvious's piece was modded. It was a subsequent clicking. And then just knowing how DA is, you're one subsequent link away from NSFW material at all times.

And I'm DEFINITELY not saying we shouldn't use DA at all. I can somewhat understand if the artist has something like a NSFW ID.... sorta. But even then you can't view those images unless you're logged in (and I know there will be times when things aren't properly tagged as mature, but I've found that to be in the minority). Honestly though, I would totally understand if they're modding because the artist's gallery was chock full of NSFW material, even though a safe one was posted. But I just wanted to make sure its not any link on the same page as the artwork, even a commenter or the main page link.

I have to disagree. Looks like you will get the next scratch, but judging by the clothes looks like she got most of them first. As for having the upper ground? Third row down. I like it though. I wish people would ask me to include my characters in commissions.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think our dear Rowr probably meant to have more of her clothes off first =P

    Awesome piece!

    Sure there is!

Just click on 'Download' if that is available, if not you might have to right-click and select View Image, but either way you're bound to get a URL like that that you can directly link to.

Though I would REALLY DISCOURAGE this practice, as it makes it practically impossible to comment on the picture or find the artist who did it and it's just bad form if you ask me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Well there ya go.

I see and understand the arguments against doing this, but the mods have already laid down the law. If you link off to a dynamic page that may be clean today but not tomorrow, you are taking the risk of having your post nuked.

There's no misunderstanding, misinterpretation or ill will about it.

Does it make life in this forum inconvenient for you? Absolutely. But rules usually do.

As an aside and for the record, I find the rule stupid. A link is not a picture. Folks have the choice to click a link or not click one.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes, see that was EXACTLY what I was asking about. Just flat out saying "one click" left the door wide open for all of DA to be off-limits. Via the main page, or avatars, journals, comments, whatever, any image posted could easily be right next door to NSFW material, through no fault of the poster or even the artist. And I asked that ONLY because Zenvious's piece was pulled down for not being one direct click away from the boards to NSFW material, but one indirect click after you got to the image page.

But back when I first asked that, I was a moron weaseling my way around rules, of course. Not asking a legitimate question or anything.
