Might help to narrow down a time period, too. All the areas you mentioned could have different "feels" depending on the time period. If you have a definite region and a definite time, then it would be easier to search through some art/architecture examples and perhaps get inspired by something.

I know how it is. I've done a couple big, beefy guys, but I wouldn't say my style fits the best with that. Chicks and quirky characters are more my forte.

But I do like to stretch my abilities, as well. I never want to get so afraid of not doing well that I never try out new stuff or challenge myself. That would be creative death right there.

The next piece has been a little longer than I wanted in getting done. Damn life crap getting in the way! But the inks are done right now and I'll have the colors done today for sure. It was also a steampunk type costume with lots of little details. Details take longer, heh.

FYI, the character is in a bikini, so nothing bad or worse than the CoH bikinis, but maybe too much for white collar job viewing ^.^

Scanners are evil for picking up the subtleties of colored pencils. It drives me insane. I always tweak levels and such in Photoshop, but it never looks as good as in person =/
