You've been doing some pretty darn spiffy work recently, Electagonist!
-
Heh, if you shot for the full series of colors, that would be over 300 markers ^.^

...strange, I just bought most of the gray scale copics from 10% up to 90% for less than $12.00 plus the blend copic that basically does nothing more than let me stretch a shade to white than really blend anything -_-; Spent like $1.80 a pen for six. Regular price here is ~$4.00 for generics and ~$5.00 for anything namebrand copic. But $10? o_O Wow. And like, a full 72ish Set is only like $80 Maybe that just doesn't seem expensive to me...

Not that I'm an expert on such things, but...in the US at least, a set of 72 (copics) goes for something like $300.
Unless those sets were being sold by a guy in a white van or something.

Copic Copic yeah, like $330 for the set. But a store here has a "store brand" that they sell off and on for half the price (or more when it comes to sets). While it may not be consistently cheap, they have stuff on "sale" so often that it's not hard to catch them pretty cheap.
Quick Edit Addition: Thought I'd mention I did take a look to see if I could find what I was talking about but they don't put the store brands on their site (wonder why) so I couldn't link to it, but I was amused at the fact that the costs for original copics are listed over $5 nearly $6 a piece and even a set of 12 with "x free markers included to a total of 12" listed at over $50.00.
I'll stick to my generic brand that's just as good

Copic IS a brand, so if you say "Copic markers", anyone will generally assume that you're talking about the ACTUAL Copic markers, not any marker ever.
And from having a set of Prismacolor to going to Copics, I'd have to say that there's a definite brand difference. Not only do the Copics have a much MUCH better color selection, but they blend like a dream. They also have better nibs, and are re-fillable. -
Am I the only one who thinks Drew Struzan has been severely lacking in the movie poster world lately?
-
I adore my Copics. And yeah, they are expensive pretty much anywhere but Japan.
I saved up for months for a set of 72, but have 90-some now. -
I agree on the length part, but the idea is very cool. Memes need to be short enough to keep the attention of a ferret with ADHD who just slammed a Dew.
-
Much too long!
And then you come back with something that can be direct-linked... what's up with that?! -
I didn't realize people didn't realize it was his character art on a Mucha background. I thought that was the entire point of his piece.
So my vote doesn't change, because I was voting for how awesome he integrated his character work into an existing piece.... which was what I felt was the spirit of the theme. Its why my voting was torn between Projectionist and Tacky_Tricky.
That said, I guess it should have been mentioned, since a good number of people didn't catch it. -

I vote Alex..
How does Tacky_tricky get votes for just a cut and paste of a border?

Er, yeah, why are we singling out Tacky_Tricky when a few artists blended things like game elements and bits from the originals with their drawing/painting? Jeez. -
I was totally fast asleep when Juggy finished this, so just want to correct the name. She's The Grammar Police ^.^;;
Awesome job! -
This is horrifically hard. I was so sure I was going to pick Projectionist.... until Tacky_Tricky came along. I LOVE that he captured the beautiful feel of the art neuveau original, definitely capturing the spirit and adding the CoX character..... argh.....
Eeeegh....
O.O
Tacky_Tricky! -
Bokuman does excellent work as well, indeed indeed.
And thanks ^.^ -
Something anime-inspired that I have going at the moment.
My website and info and all are linked in my sig. All my active slots are full at the moment, but if you don't find anyone else who can do it for you faster/better/cheaper/sexier/strawberrier... (what?) you can keep me in mind, perhaps ^.^ -
I absolutely love that. The tiny little change to make it CoV I think fits the theme perfectly.
Tremendous job! -
That was damn fast with a damn good result! I'm in Windows right now getting my screenies. I picked one of my characters with a nice simple design... but I think you'll get a real kick out of her. E-mail coming shortly.
EDIT: All sent. Coming from my wassyart.com email (in case Hotmail deems that to be a dangerous entity or something and sends it to junk) -
Ah, everything on my status tracker is a regular commission. Stuff I'm grabbing from this thread is things I'll use to mess around in between, when I have time or want to experiment with something.
I would have been doing more characters from here, but right after I asked, I got a couple more commission requests, and they get my primary attention.
But like I said, I have the whoooooole summer to come here when I want to work on little pieces and sketches. I shan't forget this nice resource you guys got together for me ^.^ -
Definitely. Its been worth all the hard work, and my husband also has a job he adores because he went and got his degree.
-
Mine might be a little bit because I actually don't have screens of most of my characters.... heh.
Gotta see if my screen cap program for Windows side is still installed and all. -
I win at failing =(
To be fair to ME, its not a grade failing thing (I have a 3.94 GPA), but I took a year off to care for my mom as she died, and then I went through a couple years of treatments for a degenerative eye disorder, and then my husband and I came to the conclusion that at least one of us should work so we could... like... eat, so I worked while he got his bachelor's, and NOW I can go to school like a normal person.
Just took the better part of a decade o.O -
I can top that!
I enrolled in college about 8 years ago for a two year degree. Suck it! -
Ah, neat! I've always enjoyed being a little off
Thanks for the generosity, and big gratz to Volt! -
Thanks for your contribution too, LD!
And I swear more people hate the depth of field than like it. Seems to be headaches all around (it is for me, too).
