  1. Man, TA, you're really getting shameless! First the August FArt Battle theme was a thinly-veiled attempt to get mega-fan TA pics, and now you're coming straight out and telling me to do up some TA artwork! I might have to take out the whip and put you back in your place. Or send a whip to Sassy, whichever works best >=D
  2. Very nice indeed to find a couple other DT fans around here. I knew there had to be more than just me and Frost!

An autographed copy of Awake is very cool. I'm still on cloud nine because we got Erotomania/Voices in the set list last night!!

This is what I have autographed.... I gave a copy of this to each of the guys during a meet and greet and have this one autographed for me.

  3. I like cats that like milk. And people who capture the moment, too.
  4. They're really one of those bands you HAVE to see live. I loved them before I saw a DT show... I was committed eternally afterward.

This was the 4th time I've seen them live. And I've met them and given them all arts, too!
  5. Also, on this tour, the band has been taking a pic of the final bow every show.

Frost and I actually are pixelated and out of focus in real life ^.^
  6. Well, Progressive Nation '09 has come and gone.... AND DREAM THEATER'S SET WAS EFFIN' AWESOME!!! \m/

Anyway, here's the result of my pimping out of my busts!

  7. In all honesty, I think the contest DID go to the weeds a bit because TA wasn't able to be as hands-on with it as he wanted. Not much to be done when stuff comes up in life, but it is what it is.

    *begins hoarding*
    Glad you like it ^.^

If you want a better scan of it, just let me know. I didn't do these very high-res or anything.

And whenever I read/hear the word "shiny"... I can only think of Firefly *big, fat tear rolls down cheek*

    that detail the process.
Yeah, I've heard of this being done, but didn't remember it until you mentioned it. That might be a good practice tool... getting used to building a city up.
  10. I have to wonder what was shockingly 3D in the example picture...
  11. TA,

Copy/paste the damn post every time you make it.

Agreed. I thought that was the general conclusion in the Fan Art Battle Controversy thread.

Christopher Robin did bring up some good points, though. Except I think Shia 100% qualifies because I felt it was implied that the cute cat girl was sweet and heroic ^.^

Also, how do I decrease the size of my pictures for posting? I'd rather not have giant pictures of doom taking over everyone's computer screens.
Ah, yeah. Forgot that it was probably a scanned image. That can take all the zip right out of traditional-media pieces.... as I very VERY well know and fight with all the time!
  14. Congrats to Crestent for improving his FArting ^.^

    And great job, Lousy_Day!

Really? I don't see your image, but I was just looking at another thread with images just 10 seconds before here...
  16. May I spank the new font options? I think they like it, so its technically not abuse.

    Cityscape Help

There are many things I suck at in this world. Golf, math, ballroom dancing.... and also cityscapes. I find them SO daunting! Whenever I look at a cityscape to try to sketch out... I get so hung up on doing every little detail that it ends up looking a mess and taking 50 years to do >.<

So do any of you other artists/art lovers have any tips or tricks on handling a good cityscape? Know of any good tutorials? I'm thinking of like... what details are best to render fully, and which look better simplified. What's a good way to start them? That sort of thing.

Especially for fan art of a game called CITY of Heroes... I find myself wanting to do nice cityscape backgrounds, but always just failing hard.

Thanks in advance for any and all help!
  18. Hey, not saying I BLAME Fire Brandi... just the first thing I noticed was she was getting her hot little booty right up in there! ^.^
  19. Wassy

    Progress.

For the geometric shape shading, don't forget about your reflected light. For instance, on the ball it wouldn't just gradate all the way to the darkest possible, it'll lighten up again some at the bottom from the light from your light source bounced back to the object from the surface its on.

For your kitty kitty, she's looking just a little bit washed out. I'd like to see greater contrast. And for the dark area of her right eye, I can see all your pencilling directions. Try out using soft circles to lay in the shadow instead of back and forth so you don't get a hatching effect.
  20. Fire Brandi is not much of a respecter of personal space, neh?
  21. Ohh! Agge! Did you ever see the bust I did for your character in my other thread?
  22. I like that alternate version!
  23. Well, that wasn't when I was asking the question... so you're right, it wasn't straightforward.

It was sarcasm, but I was doing so in a playful manner. Admittedly, I could have put a smiley or something in there. So if it was offensive, I apologize.
  24. Yes. My point WAS that you saw people pandering for votes... but did it actually make a difference? I asked that question BECAUSE you never said it actually had a bearing on the vote.

So... you supported my point. There was pandering but not an unfair outcome. So why can't we try to let a lot of people participate? The few bad apples DIDN'T spoil the fun for the bunch!

If there really was a month that had an unfair win because of pandering in other sections, I would have totally agreed with you. I wasn't asking to be mean or accusing, I was asking because you only spoke of the pandering, but not of someone winning who maybe shouldn't have.
  25. OK, who got an unfair win then? When did this actually affect the outcome?
