  1. I'll be getting the vote up soon. Been away all day to road trip out to see Avatar at an IMAX 3D. It would have been a horrid waste of time, except I also located a good art store and got some Copic goodness.

EDIT: I have determined "soon" to be tomorrow (which was my original date for voting to go up anyway) because I'm pushing the boundaries of how long I can keep my eyes open, and I don't want to put up a half-***** vote.

Structure will be pretty much the same. We tossed around the idea of using the dA polling, but the community sentiment was to keep the voting to people with CoX accounts. That seems perfectly fair to me.
  2. I stopped aging at 21 through sheer force of will. Its working out pretty well, really.
  3. *eats ALL of that cake*

Thanks guys! It seems that I'm *checks* 21! Again! Imagine that ^.^
  4. I can submit them myself if they're up in a dA account (I'd prefer to not put pieces up through my own account). But its a moot point, because he got it in there =)

I'll be getting everything that was entered into the special page on my website to hopefully get the artists and community some more exposure via my travels through the intertubes.
  5. And that's it! *sounds the buzzer*

We officially have 17 entrants for this year's FArt Competition 2010!!!!!

I'll be getting the voting set up shortly.
  6. Bwahaha, great way to beat the clock, Clutch!

Don't forget to get it in the January FArt Competition folder in the dA group!!!
  7. Cut off is in just about 2 hours, 20 minutes.
  8. Yay! So glad you're flexing your graphic design muscles and joining in!

Great entry... lots of stuff to find and enjoy. And congrats on getting in with less than three hours to go!
  9. Thanks for all the help getting out the word, CR! Your efforts are very much appreciated.

    =3 just for you
  10. Oh what? Did I fail to mention what really happens when you get eliminated? Shucks, must be because this month doesn't have one..... *sharpens the dull ax*
  11. I'm going to have to put the brakes on using the art of others, because that's just nothing but begging for flame fests and 24/7 drama. I will not be using a theme that might take us into this area.

If anyone plans to do an homage at some point, I would appreciate being PM'd with the idea/piece before posting, because that may skirt the line.

Keep in mind that for the rules, I am looking at your intent, not your execution. Shia admitted he forgot about the hot chicks rule, which disqualified his original piece. Had he put some nail polish or a high heel on the severed foot in the pool and said he intended that to be his hot chick, that would have been fine (though his update is WAY better than that!). Implicit Bookcarrier stated he created his piece from a universe he made up, which caused the disqualification. What we actually vote on is your execution.

Am I correct that all submissions have made it into the FArt Gallery on the dA CoX group?
  12. Don't worry, darlings. All entries are good, as Shia and Implicit Bookcarrier were kind enough to amend their entries.

I was specifically asked before the January theme went up if all the battles would have to use signature Heroes/Villians, and I said no. Personal characters are completely fine, as they still come from the CoX universe. And if there was a way to do a piece that only had, say, a landscape from Paragon City/The Rogue Isles, that also would be fine.

LD's piece was made to specifically portray Ghost Widow. Its why he chose the flower he did as well. So his is great no matter which way you slice it.

CR not only used what I know to be his CoH character, but a fire imp, which is a great way for a CoX torch to be lit.

Swanzy created a CoX Olympic contestant by making her a mind controller in CoX costuming.

Its fair enough to ask the question since I already have had to do disqualifications. Always, what applies to one will apply to all. But this was also a question that was asked and answered before, so these aren't new guidelines =)
  13. I thought this thread was going to be about something completely different.
  14. That chick has one hot a**!

Thanks for joining in, Caemgen ^.^
  15. Nope, no color requirements. If someone felt they could make a stronger piece by keeping it tonal, I didn't want to limit that. Pencils and pen & ink are awesome media =)

It would be a qualifying entry at some point.
  17. Ooooooookay. I submitted it to the dA group folder, just make sure to approve it!
  18. Implicit Bookcarrier, I don't believe this to be a qualifying entry. One of the stated rules was that there must be use of the CoH/V universe in all entries. I'm not really seeing this here, and you stated this was based off a universe of your own creation.
  19. I like how you packed a lot of symbolism and had a clear purpose to your piece, FD.

Two more entries and we have enough contestants for a full year!!

Submitted your piece into the dA group, all you need to do is approve it. And once you get your updated file, it will reflect over there automatically =)
  21. I'm not surprised. You're a bunch of slackers! *cracks the FArt Mistress Whip*
  22. Its like TV coverage, so those are the scrolling tickers!
  23. I'm posting up the two recent entries as embedded images in here, so they get more exposure =)

Bubbawheat threw his hat in with some screenshot humor!

And Crestent linked to it above, but lets SEE his entry!

  24. Yes, Midnight Friday US Eastern is meant to be one minute after 11:59 PM Friday US Eastern time.

12:00AM isn't legally (in the US) where days switch over. Ever look at your car insurance policies? They cover through such and such a date at 12:01AM. Believe me... I see this a hundred times a day. I work part time at an insurance company =)

So entrants have almost all day today and all day tomorrow.
