  2. Maybe.

If the player's character concept dictated the powers, and I like that player and/or that character, my X-5 will run anything with them at any difficulty setting.

My other characters that are still leveling through content will not do that.

As for Superior Conditioning vs. Focused Accuracy...IMO Focused Accuracy is an extremely waist of a power no mater what the build; mainly because of the endurance cost. On the other hand, Superior Conditioning is an auto power that increases your base endurance by 5% (in other words, if your endurance is 100 pts, SC will give you an additional 5 pts.) a great and handy power over all that you could throw a Performance Shifter: Chance for + Endurance in.
Thanks, I'd been a bit undecided about taking Build Up as a power, but I figured, having it as a random freebie wouldn't hurt. Though I replaced that with a End/Rech/ToHit. Now I'm gonna replace that with Red Fortune, except for the global recharge on LotG

The reason I'd slotted Gaussian and was considering FA, though is I've had trouble with certain mobs while soloing, and if I ramp up the difficulty, they'll be even harder to hit (I've run through my entire regular attack chain on a Rikti Drone same level and got nothing but DEFLECTED and MISS...which is fine unless there's seven others all hovering outside your Invincibility aura). But the main reason I was holding off on FA was the same reason you hate it.

-You've gone over the 5-bonus limit for the Crushing Impacts. Strip the slots from Brawl and move them into your armor powers. Those desperately need endurance reduction.
-Are you able to afford the Gladiator +3% IO? It's absurdly expensive. In all honesty you're better off with a less expensive alternative, such as slotting sets into your armors.

Your build is hellishly expensive, but if you can afford it more power to you.
Gotcha, stripping the brawl slots out (didn't know there was a 5 set bonus limit), moving them to Stamina and other stuff on my toggles.

Also moved the extra resist mods from the passives to set pieces for my toggles.

Last, I removed the third IO recharge from hasten and unstoppable to give me more slots for the toggles, and moved all the unique IOs without a full set to auto-powers.

I know its expensive, that's why I'm saving my tix, awards, and villain merits and planning. This isn't what its going to look like when I hit 50, this is a LONG way down the road (of course, by that time, I may have found the Well of the Furies and all this planning will be useless).

And yeah, I know Gladiator especially is stupidly expensive. But it does give me 3% to anything, even Psi, which is my main weakness. It is farmable, given enough time and alignment missions (I'm a crafter/gatherer in another game...I'm familiar with grinding ^_^). I chose that one because I'd already slotted my offense heavily, and not so heavy on my defenses.

However, removing slots from my low-power passives and moving them to my toggles seems to have resulted in a noticeable, but not critical drop in resist/defense, and a considerable reduction in end/sec usage for non-click powers.

Though, so far, I've rarely noticed issues with endurance, but when I start running up the difficulty ladder, and adding global recharge bonuses, I expect I will.

Thanks for critiquing this one so quickly and thoroughly.
  5. ...assuming I19. Stamina and Health will be single slotted.

I five-slotted brawl to get the +5% recharge, dumb move, move them to health/stamina when available? Or something else?
Considering replacing Superior Conditioning with Focused Accuracy?

I used regular IO resists for the passive resists, since they use no End.
LotG, of course for the 7.5% recharge+defense

Once again, I left out build-up, taunt and stun. Stun is too low damage, and I have plenty of other stunning powers. Taunt, ran out of room, and doesn't fit the concept. Build-up, given how short it lasts, and the long animation times of my two best powers, makes it rather useless, IMO. Besides, I get plenty of damage bonuses by putting out LOTS of attacks.

  6. Not an expert on Tanks, or TF either, but...I'd probably chalk it up to the tanker being a Zombie Tank (except instead of "Brraaaiiiinnnnnssssss" they say "Pull mobs...pull mobs...pull mobs").

Or perhaps they have a lack of understanding about the necessity of a brute to smash things and get smashed in return to make them more effective?

There's several not-good reasons for him to do that, maybe they prove he's not a great player, but they don't necessarily mean he's a jerk. I can't think of a really GOOD reason for him to do that though.

But...during the task force, did you tell him "OK, you grab this first bunch, while you keep them busy I'll hop to the next bunch"? (not just hashing you there, he should have asked "WTheck are you doing over there?" if he was confused about your plan).

Man, lvl 30? And I was feeling so awesome being lvl 20 in Praetoria!

Thanks, guys. I'll surely discourage other lower lvls such as I (below lvl 30) from facing these monstrosities - in small and uncoordinated groups.
They DO scale since they use the invasion code, but they do seem to be considerably harder than a similar minion/lieutenant.

I'm a 43, and I can fight them for a bit, and have to retreat (I can hit unstoppable, but if the invasion is still on when it goes off...). With normal mobs, I can fight them almost constantly (or even just stand in the middle of a few and pop "whirling hands" on auto while eating a sandwich).
  8. OK, I dunno what I did to make the link not work, will try that again...

So, according to Blue, I should be hearing that my attack chain is "barf" , anything that I can do besides "reroll"

And should I use set IOs in other powers besides the attacks? Should I slot my defenses differently? (I'm not an expert at making inf, I've only got about 9 mil at level 41 )

What would your character do, if faced with a Major natural disaster?
It was a very good day for me, I was robbing a bank in Founders Falls, its not that I need the money, I was programmed to enjoy people being afraid of me, and a random bank robbery is as good a method of scaring people as any.

My plan started to go to hell when I heard a familiar voice, at least it was familiar to me. But the sound of the voice didn't show the stress I heard from her at the end of our first meeting. Bah...Time Travel confuses me, but I'll beat Ms. Liberty now, and then I'll beat her in the past, in the future, heh.

And then the fight begins as I'm trying to leave with my loot. A simple stand up brawl with me pounding away at her, no problem. That's when all hell broke loose, the sky turned black, with a red glow. A glow provided by rocks and chunks of metal through the sky, right at the city. It really was...pretty in a strange way, and we both looked around, confused. Ms. Liberty of course, assumes its my doing, and I start to scream back "Fool...this isn't anything like what I'd do!", but my suit's AI stops me from replying, beyond an unintelligible growl as I strike back at her, she's standing and fighting well...but she's not my equal.

The smallest rocks start to pelt us as she continues to pound away at me, and I return as good as I get, and more. Then larger and larger rocks smash into buildings and the ground around us, we took little heed of them, until we started being buffeted by shockwaves from the impacts. As I look behind her, I see a large asteroid coming straight at me, through her. I'm not a hero, I'm not even a villain, I'm a monster, but, I'll be damned if some random rock will defeat her instead of me. I pass megawatts of energy into my gauntlets and strike her with all I have, she's stunned...helpless against the asteroid, or myself. I shove her aside like she's rubbish, and brace myself against the impact. My internal readings go mad, pain suppressors deactivate, while the adrenaline boosters stop functioning. And I wobble around for a moment and then shout to the universe, and anyone nearby "Is that ALL!". It really is more about acting scary than being scary, but, I AM scary, exactly as my creator programmed me.

The blast left Ms. Liberty flat on the ground, but I recover quickly. When she looks up, I've pinned her under a concrete wall, and I'm holding a steel beam. If I'd wanted I could have used the beam to finish the job, but, since I'm programmed to enjoy being feared, I don't want to. After all, if I were to kill, they will not fear me. I loom over her, and my AI lets me speak "Pathetic, not worth the trouble" my voice box growls out, she looks more angry than frightened as I toss the beam aside. In a way, I like doing this to heroes, because I can do it again another time, and if I develop a reputation for being able to take down heros...or villains, that's more useful among the population than killing all of the Arachnos moro...minions.

By this point, the storm has ended, and we start to hear other sounds, I can look around and survey the damage, but Ms. Liberty can't...she can hear screaming from civilians trapped under the wreckage, I can see them, they're not harmed, just trapped and scared, not much different than my first few hours in this suit.

I look down at her for a moment, now I have some fear. She wants to save them, but I could easily leave her under there, helpless until some others come along to save her. But by then it might be too late for the other civilians, and of course, dead people can't fear me, I walk over the concrete wall trapping Ms. Liberty...which conveniently shifts it enough to let her wriggle free.

She shouts at me as I pick up a few gold bars "It's not over", to which I calmly reply "It is for now, I think you have work to do" and then I leap away. Most people think I am an almost unthinking monster, but at least I, the AI in the suit, and...maybe my creator knows the truth.

Hehehe...I'm a brute, I don't plan. Seriously, this is my first character, and I'm not enough of a gearhead to know the ins and outs to get the perfect DPS. That's why I'm here wondering if I'm doing it right.

I'll freely admit that I'm clueless...but at least I know that I'm clueless.
  11. OK, I'm an energy/inv brute, here's my plan for the I19 update, with fitness inherent, I'll move slots around to triple slot health and stamina. Also, at the current time, level 41, I run at -1 level, 1 villain, no-AV, and I solo most EBs easily except for the bleepers with psi and -recharge. I can easily go to +1 level, except for bosses and EBs

I chose to wait on hasten until then because of the massive boost on end recovery. I chose NOT to use taunt because I'm not primarily a tank, I can pull with taser darts or temp powers. No build up because I'm not convinced that it's too useful given the long attack times for Total Focus and Energy Transfer

  12. Personally, I've got a 40 EM/Inv brute, I solo most equal-level elite bosses, sometimes without popping any inspirations, DP or Unstoppable (I usually have to be lucky and/or have a crappy EB to fight), AND I'd respec'd stupidly, leaving out my second low level EM attack for boxing (so I could get tough and weave sooner...and then never got around to getting them).

EM is an excellent single-target set, I think, since it can let you stunlock an enemy. And with my secondary choice I can just gather 20+ rikti monkeys and just set Whirling Hands on autofire while I eat a sandwich (even though my set choice has 0 protection from Psi).

I don't think its the BEST set, necessarily, but its not a bad set. It looks good, usually works well, and...I *do* like Energy Transfer.
  13. I know that Virtue is the big RP server, but I didn't find that out until I was in the low-30s, and I didn't want to pay for a server transfer.

So, are there any RPing villain groups on Triumph that are recruiting?
