    Speed TF's

I don't think I've ever done an ITF that came in under 1.5 hours.

I've joked that it is entirely because of me, but that's not really true.

    All that being said...

Baronesa (and likely some others here), we should do some TFs together some time!

Anyone think we could try hooking up fully IC TFs in the TF global?

I've been on a speed LGTF once, and killmost TFs. I liked the reward/time ratio...but that's not why I play, in fact, the speed LG was about as boring to me as gathering in other games.

I'd love to try a IC SF sometime, but I think it would take MUCH longer than I'm used to.

Essentially, I was told that if I didn't have anything slotted, that I should leave the TF, because I wasn't ready. So, here's the thing: if you have to do TFs to /get/ shards (and yes, I know that some of the high-level missions such as AV mishes will give shards), how are you supposed to get those shards when people ask you to leave their TF because you haven't got shards. Since I'm a piss-off kind of guy I left the TFs at that time.

This all seems rather rude to me. I also question whether the Devs would put in place a system which would apply a nerf to a toon or to the team they are on, simply because one member doesn't have the alpha slot filled yet. Perhaps they meant that it's as if there was a nerf in effect, but that wasn't what was said.

I'd be interested in people's opinion and if anyone can shed light on this nerf that people without the alpha slot inflict on other toons in a TF.
    The heck?

No, its not applied to the entire party (that I know of). However, unless you and your party is willing to fight 54s with a 46, you're basically useless to your party.

And yeah Ironblade is right, without a slotted alpha you can still get on every other 50 TF and trial/raid in the game with no problem and shard farm or get items for TF completion.

Really, with a fast group and some luck, it takes about 1-2 hours to make your first Alpha. A slow group, that is unlucky, about 5 hours assuming you complete the TFs.

So...what's the problem? It's endgame content, its supposed to take some effort to be able to run it. Just be glad its not something like RoMs endgame, where you have to spend a fortune to be able to play endgame

I can't imagine a lvl 46 even scratching a warwalker... let alone one of the AVs.
No. Just. No. When we tried that the first day, we spent about 30 minutes and couldn't get through one of those hotspots in the first mission. It was taking full party attacks to kill minions...we MIGHT have been able to do a boss but it would have taken all day (and with the rezzing and healing lieuts, that didn't help). God help us if we faced an AV.

Speaking as an Invuln, I will say this in reply to the above post: THIS (if you solo missions).

Whether its adding +recovery special IOs, or chucking some more end-reducing enhancements in, or using the Energy Mastery pool, or whatever, do what you need to keep that power.

However, if you regularly run with a crowd that has partywide +def buffs, you can probably get by without it. Unless you regularly run against a crowd with massive -def debuffs...

Heh...when it first came out, several of us misunderstood it. We thought you needed it unlocked to function, and we tried the Tin Mage...clearing those hot spots was doable, but it took FOREVER (we had great accuracy buffys going), but my Energy Transfer was doing like 100 total damage, and I'm used to it doing 700+

Most likely...both. I believe War Witch said something about the game now being scalable to "a theoretical level 60". As we get new powers, I expect to get better enemies behind the doorways, and possibly for incarnate level zones.

But I don't see them raising the difficulty of current in-world enemies. So I think we will eventually have the Rikti Magus con yellow to us when we do a ship raid.
  7. Also, my heroes, even with combined trains, seem to be spending most of their time running from one zone to another. Or they have a kill 20 zone mobs mission. I think I've done more kill 20 missions to level 20, than I did to get to 50 on my villain. Redside is almost all door missions so you'll see way more people blueside.

If you're trying to team for storyline content, that may be difficult due to the swarm of 50s doing the incarnate SF/TFs.

Go for the server wide LFG channels, I'm sure some others are having trouble with getting lower-level teams too. Check the SG adverts in the forum, and ignore blind invites to blueside SGs...err...better yet, just add that guy to the global ignore list. I added one name, and stopped getting blind invites completely...

Agreed, the source of the best missions I've seen have been AE. But, that said, its also been the source of some of the worst. I'd have to say that of the missions that I've played, two of the four best were AE missions, and the other two were level 45-50 Strike Forces.

I'd actually like the most exploited mission type to remain, IF you change two things: No INF rewards, or nerf the INF to a trivial amount and leave the XP. Second, require something like already having a level 50 on your account or several months in the game to access it.

This provides an easy out for alt-aholics, while limiting the game-breaking aspects, no easy money, and they will have played enough that they will probably have at least some grasp of how other ATs/powersets work.

I've never had a problem that bad on an alignment mission, unless it was bugged. Really, most seem to be easy-mode

That was why I suggested multiplying the XP required dramatically, not 2x, but something like 100x per extra power selected...you might farm 5x faster...but it'll still take 20x longer.

It'd help AE farmers, but it would make us truly able to build ANY character we can imagine (Amazo?).

Digressions aside, slots that add 30-50% to ALL of a characters main powers just seem over the top to me. We already have heroes/villains who can solo AV's and GM's, though I don't suggest that is a large proportion of the playerbase. It only takes a small proportion of min/maxed characters to distort a game out of shape though.

What kind of challenges can they present to players who can already solo virtually anything in the game, who then get 30-50% more powerful (roughly)?

If this has already been done to death elsewhere, just point me in the right direction and I'll go away. Quietly.

    I promise.
It's only 30-50% to something that's not already suffering from ED issues. And only type of enhancement at a time. It will make the people that solo GMs and AVs more powerful, BUT it will make some of the "middle-weight" players with standard IOs, but no sets into "heavy-weights", and make "lightweights" with nothing but SOs into "middle-weights".

OLDER content will get easier, and CURRENT content will be playable with these enhancements (or at least sorta playable).

And yes, I know it's against the EULA to make an exact copy of an established, but it will not be an exact copy. Thank you for your help.
Super Strength is a given. Inv or WP should work, there's a self-rez+power boost in WP, right? We've seen the big blue boy scout knocked down and the villain thinks he's about to rule the world and then...

But if you tend to think of him as being invuln, I mean, no matter WHAT you hit him with, its not enough to hurt him. That says Stone Tank to me (and then ignore the effects)

Not much of a question, more of a comment or complaint. Been trying to get an apex tf going all day, but noone seems to know about slotting the alpha slot.
Well, me and several others misread it as needing to have the alpha slot unlocked the first time I tried tin mage. I had no trouble hitting with the teams +TH buffs, but doing 30 pts of damage with Energy Transfer...fail team was fail ^_^.

Because if the Vanguard merit thing is the only other option which is massive grind this game is broke, farming, wasting my life and I'm through with it. It's just that too many mmos are like this and I left all them for this game years ago, because there was no "end game" raids you HAD to do to unlock something and there was no farmer grind either to get stuff, but if that is case now, failed game.

I am just asking. Like I have said before I play at very very late hours, barely anyone is ever on but the developers never take that into account when doing anything. If a games too fun they consider it broke and make it miserable. I want access to the incarnate stuff but I don't want to do raids with people that aren't online, I don't want to change servers, I don't even want to group with complete strangers if it was an option and I don't want to grind away with vanguard merits to get this either. Games should be fun and not a job. I already have a job.
I'd recommend a group for the slot unlocking, I needed a duo for Honoree and Trapdoor. But we should have had more, it took a LOT of dying to get the strategy for the Honoree right ^_^.

The taskforces REALLY accelerate getting the slot filled, but killing a few bosses here and there on your normal missions will eventually get you shards to convert to the better pieces. But the only content that actually really needs the slot filled, are the new Task Forces.

So, if you don't want to run that content with the people you have online, and don't want to do PuGs, then you really won't miss a lot.
  18. As far as I can tell, my own strategy for that is to find 7 people that CAN do the BM mission, and then I stay up on the roof.

I mean, coming into the zone only to find a blue patch ALREADY ON YOU, and instantly dying more than once in that way, or getting cornered between the zone wall and a couple blue patches. My main is a EM/Inv brute, I don't mind trying to maneuver, but I'm REALLY not good at it.

It's a GREAT mission for fast-reflex players, but I'm not, never have been, never will be. I can't get close to her to do much damage because she'll drop a blue patch on her feet before I can get two good attacks off, and even then they won't be "good" because I spend so much time dodging I can't get fury built.

Personally, what I'd like to do, is the option to get multiple powers different sets/ATs from one tier, you could also choose extra base powers (fury/gauntlet/defiance/domination/scourge/etc). XP required to level would be multiplied massively too.

So you could make the ultimate character, but you'd have to farm XP all day to get to level 2.

Or you could hit level 2 in 5 minutes with a normal archetype.

But either way, it'd be so many kinds of wrong.

  22. The Proc in that set gives you a chance to stun. Since that goes in an End Mod slot, it can't be used in a power that's used to attack someone.

Does that mean its a global chance to stun for all your attacks?

In general, how does teaming up work in regards to story and development? Or in regards to leveling speed and general fun? I have never even tried a team yet, mostly because I'm still 100% mediocre and easily confused. XD

Another sidenote question would be, does the story level with me? Since I started out a Preatorian, can I do the low level hero arcs on the same character? Will they be faceroll easy? Or do they match whatever my current level is?

    Thanks much!
Teaming is a HUGE increase in leveling speed, you spend less time running to missions from the hospital. You get bigger spawns, more XP from that.

Teams are GREAT fun, especially if you get a group of people that you like to team with regularly. In many cases, they'll be happy to run with you, as long as you're honest about your skill and listen.

Since the contacts at high level have links to a certain origin, I recommend either a character on every origin (so many options, so much fun), or turning off XP and running ALL the content before moving on (my plan for blueside), or using Orouboros later on to finish the primary story content (but that could spoil some storylines).

BTW: ThugOne is correct, some games reward grinding one character to perfection. CoX rewards some casual play on a variety of characters.
  24. I almost regret my main being a villain now.

This could be made of awesome, especially in a group of villains "We can't kill him...yet...he's in the prophecy" "Can I just beat him up for an hour or two?" "NO...he might get mad and become a hero, didn't you read the prophecies?"

    *group sigh*

"I'll go take out my frustrations on some Longbow...ALONE!"
  25. OK, I posted a build on the Brute board, with 6 partial sets of Crushing Impact, they said I couldn't get the bonuses from more than 5 sets of Crushing Impact.

What are the limits as to how many sets of a certain type will work?
